Matt, owner of Hook Me Up, was an absolute lifesaver. After a power outage, my Ubiquiti equipment never came back online, and I was left without Wi-Fi all weekend with no one to turn to. After more than 24 hours, I started leaving messages with a few businesses asking for help as soon as possible. Matt called me back within an hour -- on a Sunday. He took the time to troubleshoot everything with me over the phone, and when we realized the equipment was dead, he offered to come out with an older router so he could at least get my Wi-Fi working again for my computer and TV. He ended up staying for several hours to make sure everything was set up properly, tested, and working well with a strong signal throughout the house. He also assessed my existing system and is going to help clean up my older professionally installed setup. Matt was kind, thoughtful, knowledgeable, and incredibly generous with his time. Matt and Paul changed my life and brought me into the 21st century. I had recently moved in a new house from out of state and had to start from scratch. It began with needing internet as well replacing a complicated, antiquated AV system. What started out as six clunky AV components with multiple remotes was replaced with ONE main device. Clean and easy. I now have kick-ass internet, non-glare TVs with Sonos bars giving me phenomenal sound. They also installed additional Sonos speakers so I can seamlessly listen to music throughout the house, something I love but have never had. There were other goodies I needed that they were able to supply: a new thermostat, camera door bell, and security cameras all thoughtfully placed around the property - and all connected to my phone. Hook Me Up Solutions covered all the bases I needed and did so in a timely, professional manner. And they're super nice guys! In many ways, they truly went above and beyond. I'm not the most tech savvy person but Matt and Paul patiently got me up to speed on how to use all the new technology, most of it from my phone. This was key. In addition, they also updated my lighting. I had outdated recessed lighting, which they replaced and installed dimmers throughout the house, making a huge difference. Last but not least, I had carted an antique chandelier from California that I wanted in my dining room (replacing a very generic fixture). I was waiting forever on an electrican to do this. Instead, Matt did a white-glove installation, reattaching and cleaning each crystal. I was completely blown away. It was phenomenal having all this done (we spaced it out into 4 stages) by guys who are amazing at what they do and truly care about how they treat my home. Yes, it was an investment. Contacted the company through their online quote form and received a response within a few hours from the owner, Matt. Very responsive to a conversation about my specific plan. Basically we needed to unmount a TV previously installed by a big box store (horribly I have to add) and re-install two TVs with cable concealment for both. Matt was able to arrange for an in-home consultation right away for a small consultation fee that would be used for credit on the installation. In regards to the installation itself, we were lucky enough to get the work done that week (due to a cancellation). I am thrilled by how it all turned out. The TVs were perfectly mounted. They were able to fix the aftermath of our previous installation, and conceal the cables with a new in-wall track behind our fireplace to a hidden panel in our inset. Additionally, Matt was able to rewire everything with the newest cable standards for prices fairly close to at-cost. Matt and Paul installed a TV antenna in my attic. The company is very organized. They confirmed the appointment via email. Sent me a text 1/2 hour before arrival time to say they were on their way and arrived exactly on time. They were very professional, removing their shoes before coming in and being very careful bringing their equipment into the house. They installed the antenna and made sure both televisions were set up to access the channels the antenna made available and even ran a software update on the newer TV. We can now access 50 channels for no monthly charge. When they were done they thoroughly cleaned their work area even vacuuming the area where they accessed the attic. I was completely satisfied with my experience with Hook Me Up Solutions and would use them again without hesitation. Matt was amazing. From the very beginning the customer service was exemplary; he respected the challenges of working on a house full of children during these crazy Covid times, confirming the appointment schedule hours well ahead of arrival, and giving my family time to vacate the premises while he worked. The job itself involved drilling through a brick wall, and laying cable near some thorny rose bushes. He executed it perfectly, and the internet cable he installed is very discrete and almost invisible on the brick out in front of the home. Inside the home, Matt made sure the wiring was very neat and tidy, cleaning up his work area such that I could not find any trace of him being there -- except that now my office was wired and the wifi all through the house 80% faster! In addition to completing the wiring job, Matt went above and beyond. He consulted with us, noticing an oversight by the cable company with regards to grounding; a couple of issues with our outdoor electric sockets; recommendations on the type of modem for us to upgrade to; and even fixed my garden gate that had a minor problem! I'm usually a do it yourself guy, but I bought a 80" TV for a luxury home, and didn't trust myself to mount it above the fireplace without either having a mess of wires, or a torn up terraced wall from fishing the wires through. I called Hook Me Up Solutions, and Matt came out to install the TV. The best explanation I can give regarding Matt is he is high precision. He gave me the cleanest install I ever could have asked for. He first asks a lot of questions to make sure we are on the same page, then he measures and outlines the area with painters tape to make sure I'm okay with the area. He ended up hanging this monster perfectly, and put cover plates in the entry/exit points for cabling. He concealed the wires so well, you can't tell anything was done. His clean up was great, and he moved the TV box to storage for me. I also asked to pay for an hour of consultation regarding an existing in-ceiling speaker system running throughout my house, and he spent a good 2.5 hours testing all my speaker continuity, and having the attic walked to check the layout. He didn't charge me for that extra time. In trying to help me determine the best method of hooking up a great surround sound system, he offers products at a rate that is usually better priced than Amazon, and doesn't mind if you go buy products elsewhere. He will help tell you how to set this up yourself, or give you a plan for him to do it. I'd use Hook Me Up Solutions again without looking at a competitor. read more

I did not know the configuration of running multiple HDMI cables through my receiver into my TV. It takes a fair bit to impress me, but these guys did it. First of all, I emailed at 9pm to schedule a date for an estimate, and Matt (the owner) got back to me in about 15 mins! This may not happen all the time, but it does mark the responsiveness of HMUS. Second, I wondered whether a Hillsboro-based company would be responsive in NE Portland, but Matt was very easy to schedule for an estimate, and he arrived promptly and communicated well. Most important was that I had all the equipment that I needed -- he didn't try to sell me anything I didn't want or need, or to run down the equipment I had, suggesting better. I even asked whether I should add more speakers, and he gave me his opinion that for my room size, they were not needed. Matt got back to me with a fixed-price for fishing wiring for rear speakers and a subwoofer through our 1905-era home, which I thought was brave, and an hourly rate for cleaning up some other speaker wiring in my home, which was fair. Matt and his assistant arrived at the appointed time and worked all day on the installation, which when billed was probably the best home-improvement dollar I've ever spent. The quality of their work was high, and they cleaned up after and were all-around pleasant guys. I chose HMUS because of their good reviews here, and they did not disappoint me. I had tried to start the project myself with purchases from Amazon and a lot of YouTube Instructional Video searching but in the end I was completely over my head. I made an offer to buy a house in a rural area and after researching on my own, satellite internet and TV were my only options for coverage. I had to do an inspection of many items of the property and assumed that there would be some way to get satellite coverage out there.
