Happily, this gave us the opportunity to finally upgrade our 10+-year-old surround sound wiring with a more modern, sleeker setup. We reached out to Intellihome, they heard our ideas, added a few additional quality-of-life features that we hadn't even thought of, and got to work. Im not sure what I was expecting, but the end result exceeds even those vague expectations. The new wiring is a big future-proofing upgrade, wires are tucked neatly into the wall, and as you can see in my photo, there are zero cables hanging from the TV -- a crucial feature when you have four curious, chaotic cats. Intellihome was extremely easy to work with, exceedingly professional, and they do great work. When we eventually opt for further surround sound upgrades, we'll be calling Intellihome.

I'll be hiring them if I need help with more stuff!

WOW! WOW! WOW! Lucas is an AV genius! Over the years we…read morehad upgraded front speakers, rear speakers and a much more expensive center channel speaker. We had our receiver and subwoofer too. But, the system did not sound good. Voices were muffled and we could never hear the rear speakers. The front speakers did not give us an impressive sound quality. What to do? Well, total tech had been out to our home a few times as well as an AV guy who suggested turning our family room to multi, multi thousand dollar home theatre extravaganza that involved taking down our walls to rewire, then re-sheet-rocking after the room was loaded with speakers. Total tech fiddled with our equipment and sold us a new receiver and still we had poor quality sound. This time, I found Lucas online. And thank goodness! He came to our house and told us exactly what we needed. He checked out each component, and made a couple recommendations within our budget. Our receiver was not powerful enough to make our speakers sing. And our subwoofer could not power the rear speakers. He said he would not know if we needed new speakers until he replaced some items and tweaked our system. We purchased new equipment from him for our upstairs and family room tv's. He came out and hooked up the new equipment, replaced some bad cables, adjusted the sound so each seat had fabulous listening. He set up Spotify to the system with our Iphones and minimized our remotes. He even changed some settings on our tv. It took him about 3 hours of working hard and fast to perfect each piece of equipment. It was extremely technical...something neither my husband nor I would have been able to do. Turns out we did not need new speakers, they worked great after he did his work. Later that night my husband and I watched "The Voice" and I could not believe my ears!!! I could hear music out of the rear speakers and the surround sound was POWERFUL! Lucas is absolutely amazing. We are 100% pleased with everything he did. Lucas really knows his stuff and he respects your budget and your needs. We absolutely love our surround sound after Lucas perfected it!!! From now on, he is the only one we will ever use. He gets more than 5 stars.

Great service and fast response!…read more That's all you want as a consumer to have, right?! I reached out to Tyson's team via Yelp and had good conversation once we touched base. Just note: when you call the phone number and no one picks up, your phone call drops so keep on trying until you get someone on the other side! But other than that one hiccup, Tyson came personally to do the free consultation at our home and to see what was really requested. We asked for the basics. No cable, install sound-bar and provide bracket. Tyson gave us the amount and he called his guys in who were around the area do another job to swing by in an hour! Amazing. They were in and out in less than an hour as well and mind you, all of this happened in less than 24 hours!!!! Thanks Tyson and team you have another satisfied customer and have already recommended my co-worker to use your services! Kudos!

Chelsea Audio is no exception, and Ford is a great guy. Good and interesting selection of gear. Now with all of these places, it makes no sense for them to cover lower end gear. Between Best Buy, big box and Amazon, the commodity end of the market is handled. So it's understood that these types of stores are dealing with a very small segment of the market. And each time I've entered they have really tried to understand my needs and my time frame. As someone who tries to buy quality once and hold it for as long as possible, I'm slow to make a purchase of this sort. I've been clear about that, and Ford's main concern was to help me in that process while building a relationship. At the moment, all I needed were some new cans. After having my last pair for about 15 years, it was time for something fresh. In the end, I went with a line of cans that Chelsea didn't carry, but that was after a long and careful review at four stores. I hope that for my next piece that I'll be able to do business with Chelsea Audio. It's a great shop, very elegant, and a really nice array of equipment running up from the mid-level up to the stratosphere. They are really great.

But I can honestly say Flat Panel Bros was worth every penny. And that's hard for me to say considering how expensive everything has gotten lately -- but I've never paid someone so happily for genuinely GREAT service. Pete was incredible. He communicated in a timely manner, was professional throughout the entire process, and literally left things better than when he arrived. He even vacuumed and cleaned everything up afterward. Flat Panel Bros is exactly the kind of small business that deserves recognition. They could teach some big corporations a thing or two about customer service. They've officially gained a forever customer. I would recommend them without hesitation.

There are all kinds of "incentives" to sign up, but then you live with the monthly fees. In my opinion you have two choices in this industry - big company like Comcast, or a local company like OmniGuard. I picked and am staying with OmniGuard for three reasons: 1. The primary alarm monitoring system, through Alarm.com is bulletproof. We've had some alarms go off when we weren't in town. The police showed up. If there is urgent issues, they are on the phone with you immediately. 2. The service side - OmniGuard is local and will fix your issues. They are small, and sometimes they can drop the ball, but they always make it right. When you call they are respectful and helpful. 3. Price points remain stable - they don't jack you around after a year. The value remains.
