We've had the service for five years. Keep in mind that this is an industry with many different players. There are all kinds of "incentives" to sign up, but then you live with the monthly fees. In my opinion you have two choices in this industry - big company like Comcast, or a local company like OmniGuard. I picked and am staying with OmniGuard for three reasons: 1. The primary alarm monitoring system, through Alarm.com is bulletproof. We've had some alarms go off when we weren't in town. The police showed up. If there is urgent issues, they are on the phone with you immediately. 2. The service side - OmniGuard is local and will fix your issues. They are small, and sometimes they can drop the ball, but they always make it right. When you call they are respectful and helpful. 3. Price points remain stable - they don't jack you around after a year. The value remains. read more

I've had Omniguard Security for three years. No real problems, except they don't seem to understand their own system. I was told I needed to link their system to my WiFi, so I did. Now, three years later I find out that they can't figure out why, since my system is on a cell radio connection only. I have found that any inquiries I have made either get lost or ignored. When pushed, however, the company has come through. The manager, Tina, told me she has only worked there since January, so she's not familiar with their products or systems. It's November! On balance the company is OK and the price is competitive. However, staffing and training seems to be needed. read more

Apparently the camera they had set me up with originally had a lot of promise that never delivered on the manufacturer's end. Stay away from this company. I started using their system since 2017 and they sold their company about one or two year ago. The service totally sucks. I have a door sensor which is broken for a. You need to call them have email come and forth for couple month. And they finally send a guy to fix that sensor, and he is not professional at all. He drill another to my doorframe since he cannot pull previous sensor out. After that, he find that sensor somehow cannot receive signal from the main hub. He spend lot of time to figure that out, and the problem cannot be fix. He turn to install an external sensor, and luckily it works. During his visit, he never talk about the charge or fee. After two month, my credit card get charge for $300, without any notice or statement. After phone call to alarm.com, they finally send me the invoice, and claim that they sent two people to help me out, which is a lie. Anyway, I'm terminating the service. Stay away from this company and alarm.com. read more

Initially the "request a quote" option didn't work that well for me. After 2 days, I called and left a voicemail, and after not hearing back for another day, I tried again. At that time I was forwarded to Nathan's voicemail, and he did get in touch with me the next day. So - based on that I would have given 4 stars. HOWEVER, during our initial consultation, Nathan asked me what I wanted in a system - I verbally gave him my "list", to which he replied to each and every one of my concerns/needs (impressive because he didn't take any notes). He didn't try to "upsell" me (as I have found with other companies), and customized a system that worked for ME. The estimate didn't come the same day as I had hoped, so I had to wait another weekend, and had to follow up with a phone call - I got my estimate. Again, something I would normally ding during a review - but once they came out for installation, Nathan was there with the technician and they were both walking me through my new system, features, etc. Overall I am happy with OmniGuard, I would suggest that if you're having trouble contacting them (as I did, initially) follow up - because I think you'll be happy with the end result! read more

We just built and purchased a new home in rural East Clark County and it came with an OmniGuard Security system installed. We've never had a security system before, so we were unsure if we wanted to pay a monthly fee for one now. But, being rural, and with my elderly mother now living with us, we decided to trial it for three months. Well, besides all of the security features and insurance discounts we received, it didn't take long to realize the tremendous value-add that the Smart Home features are providing us! Our OG rep, Eric Frazier, has been outstanding from day one! He has helped provide us system overviews twice. He's been super responsive and patient in helping us get all of our awesome features setup and running smoothly. And, without fail, he has gotten our new home secure and running smoothly on all cylinders -- from the whole home alarm system, to the programmable thermostat, to the automated lights and garage door openers ands on ands on. Amazing! We have dealt with a lot of vendors and contractors throughout this entire home process and he's one of only two who I would give a perfect 10 to! I didn't know this. I have been having problems with them too. My panel on the wall just stopped working. Anything else that is plugged into that same outlet works. Wow! Why did I not contact OmniGuard sooner!??!? After an increase in theft in our neighborhood and an attempted home invasion last winter while I was home alone with our young son, I decided that my family needed some sort of security system. From the initial email, phone calls, and in-home consultation to the installation and follow up, everything was smooth and incredibly easy. Nathan was on time every visit and responded to my many inquiries and questions with knowledgeability, patience, professionalism, and even humor. During the consultation, he carefully listened to what I envisioned and created a plan for us that left me feeling more secure even before the system was installed. I honestly believe that he recommended exactly what he thought would work best for us and I am so happy that he did. The price was very fair, and, given what we had done, I am actually a little surprised that it didn't cost more...had I known how reasonable it was to have a home security system installed (without ever feeling like I was being upsold or pushed to get more!) I would have done this years ago. I know that our home was far from the largest/most profitable job for them, but I never felt like too small of a client or not as important as a massive home or business getting fitted for every possible security feature. As a parent, I cannot tell you how much better I feel in my home as a result of OmniGaurd and Nathan's help throughout this. This was the first and only security company that I contacted and that is due to how comfortable and informed I felt working with him on this from the beginning. Omniguard's system came with my house when I built it a few years ago. Overall a couple minor issues early on but easily and quickly resolved. Recently the home automation portion of my alarm system failed. I called Alarm Center on a Saturday, they confirmed the diagnosis and said they would have someone call me on Monday, nothing... I called the support line and they said they local folks would contact me. Tuesday nothing so I sent an email which became a ticket... It is now Thursday and still NOTHING. Just what you want just before you leave town... I've tried calling, long hold times, even tried sales... nothing... While I've enjoyed the flexibility of the system, for the price and lack of support at this point, I am ready to switch to a competitor read more

I chose this company because of the yelp reviews... and I want to prevent you from making the same mistake. This company has been sold twice in the 6 months that I have been a client. Our security panel on the front door still doesn't work, and the $2000 cameras we bought are useless. We have called them over 10 times so that we can have a functional security system that we paid for and that we pay each month for, and they have NEVER gotten back to us, and NEVER fixed the problem. I transferred ownership of Omnigaurd when I purchased a home that came with the system already installed. Chris was able to answer my question and I found him to be responsive and knowledgeable. This company locked me into a three year contract. However, the equipment generated many false alarms in several components. The carbon monoxide detector needed new batteries every few weeks. The system lost connection to the home office often. The fire alarm went off when there was no fire and the fire department was summoned. The system beeped constantly. I attempted to cancel my service. The company refuses to respond and continues to bill me. They have said they will trash my credit rating if I don't pay them. read more

Omniguard contacted us after we posted our previous update and have been very apologetic about the previous snafu with their service. They have worked hard to fix the issue we have had with the smoke alarms. We ended up having to get the electricians out that installed the smoke alarms and it turned out the smoke alarms had been recalled so the electricians replaced all of them. We have now reconnected the smoke alarms to the Omniguard system with no further issues to this point. read more

Chris with OmniGuard made a really tough situation feel less invasive. Lets start with that feeling you get when your purse is stolen and someone else has your contact information. Then lets add that the person who stole it used to live down the street from you. That is what happened to me right before Christmas, right before we were getting ready to leave for a Christmas vacation hours away from our house and the person who had stolen my purse had been released from police custody. I had known of OmniGuard for a few years so naturally they were my first call to get information about a security system for our house. Not only was Chris able to get us set up with a consultation in a VERY short time but they were also able to do an almost instant install the very next day. The entire install process took place the morning we left for our vacation, took less time then they originally told us it would take and went so super smooth. The installer walked us thru how to set up our online account, add the app to our phones, create new pass codes and made sure we were able to do a test run before he left. We walked out of our house on time for our Christmas vacation feeling much more secure with leaving. In addition, you would think because we requested a "rush" install that there would have been an extra charge, nope they were up front and honest with the pricing, told us about the contract and monthly plan rates and didn't charge any extra for the "rush". AND something very important to us was that Chris did NOT try to sell us on product we did not need. He listened to what we thought we wanted, gave us some recommendations and emailed us a proposal that was clear and concise on what we would get for what we were paying. Overall I am super happy with them and this entire process. Chris really did make a situation that was super crummy much better. We decided on a Friday at 3pm that we needed a security system. I put some feelers out via some websearches and made contact with half a dozen security providers. OmniGuard called me by 5:30pm that same day. To put it into perspective, 3 of the providers never contacted us. 1 of the providers put us on their email blast list, but never contacted us. The final provider finally called us 6 weeks later when we were having the final touches being put on our installation by OmniGuard - and I told them so. I won't say that the installation didn't go without a hitch, but that's because of where we live (we live in a valley between two large hills, which affects cell signal). After we determined the best way to go, OmniGuard keeping us in the loop the whole way, and we got all the right equipment installed and up and running. This is the only company I could find locally that offers the 2GIG wireless alarm product and will either install it, or allow the customer to self install. I did the self install, and Noah, the owner was there to help me every step of the way. In an industry sometimes lacking customer service, Noah goes above and beyond to make sure his cusomters are taken care of. Add to that the best most feature rich product in the market and you have a recipe for success. My house has full security and fire that I monitor from my Iphone, which is really slick. My wife broke a glass in our luandry room and I got instant pop-up that the glass break sensor went off! No betters toys or service in the Market! read more

I recently moved from the Richmond to another quaint, safe, established Portland spot. Neighborhood watch, community involved residents, lots of dogs who bark when they feel like their territory is being invaded - everything you'd want out of a new home where you and all of your stuff will live. My poocher is a giant dude at 75lbs., and I practice a martial art. Still, I felt like I'd sleep better knowing I had an additional layer of security. There's nothing in my home particularly interesting / expensive / irreplaceable - I just don't want smarmy trolls wandering around my place. Unfortunately, intruder-activated-poison-tipped darts is not a viable solution, so I explored feasible (legal) options. Whenever a company sends me 29 aggressive offers in the span of 12 days promising a higher quality of service than the advertised cost, it makes me wonder what's really going on. So when I started researching "ADT" home security, I quickly discovered the throng of folks documenting their horror stories involving the single-circuit, economy grade package that correlates with all of those mail-in ads I too had received. Thus, my research began for a locally staffed home security company. There are a few in Portland, some of which I discovered here on Yelp and on other social media outlets such as NextDoor. OmniGuard consistently shows up as a reputable, consistent, friendly, knowledgeable and accessible home security company. I reached out to them and got a quick response. One of the friendly sales reps came out to perform a free evaluation and I was happy with the quote. I said, "Let's do it." Not long after, the OmniGuard installation team showed up and configured my home for some futuristic automation. Took them about 3 hours in total. They demonstrated the products to and walked me through how to get the most out of the online / mobile features, and I quickly took to it setting up my own user profiles and behavior-triggered alerts. For example, I have a key code for my dog walker, and will receive an alert when they come and go. If some greasy troll wanders off one of the nearby busy streets and tries entering a passcode on my fancy touchscreen lock too many times, well, maybe I'll call on Indiana Jones to deploy some of those poison-tipped darts (natural, sustainable ingredients of course - valerian root and so forth - nothing lethal). I can check my locks remotely (and lock the doors from my phone), arm and disarm the system from my phone and I have to tell you, I really do sleep better at night knowing my space is protected by a higher level of security than positive thoughts and wishful thinking. If you're considering home security or home automation, the folks at OmniGuard will treat you right. read more

I have had an Omniguard system for a month now and am very happy. I originally had looked at ADT because they are so well known and their mail flyer said $30/month, but I was really turned off by their boiler room sales tactics. While I was on hold I pulled up their Yelp reviews and was horrified and ran for the hills. I also learned that anytime you see monitoring services advertised for $30/month, it usually requires you to sign up for a land line at an additional cost, so don't be suckered in by those discount mail flyers from the big security companies! Chris at Omniguard was incredibly transparent and easy to work with. He was very honest about what system components I definitely should get vs ones that were optional and not worth it in his opinion. It was clear he genuinely cared about having a satisfied customer and was not just trying to get me to spend more money. Installation was quick and easy, and they were able to use some if my existing alarm sensors from an old system and supplement it with new ones to save me some money. I'll be the first to admit that I wasn't a big believer of home security systems prior to working with OmniGuard. We just bought our first house and my opinion of these systems overall was mostly based on previous interactions with friend's dated models and the overwhelming feedback that the big companies were not known for their customer service. Working with Will and team at OmniGuard however has been great! Not only is it a local company, but everyone was extremely friendly and the process was simple to understand. No pressure or timing on anything, just basic explanations of how a modern system should work and what they offered. I was really surprised when I found out all of what was possible, especially via the mobile platform and fun features like geo-location. Ideally this is all just an insurance policy no one ever needs... but if it can be that, along with convenient tech features for other home needs, plus an amazingly responsive and friendly staff... it's more than worth it! read more

We have been with this company about 4 years and initially went with OmniGuard due to their excellent reviews. We recently had some control panel issues after a power outage and needed some help. I was honestly fairly concerned reading some of the recent reviews after the company was sold but we couldn't have had a better experience. Stephanie was incredibly helpful and accessible. They had a tech out the next business day and took care of everything. Sorry to hear that others had a bad experience but that certainly was not the case for us. Following a recent break-in, I was referred to OmniGuard Security due to their existing great reviews. I contacted Nathan in the AM and he was able to meet me just an hour later to go over options, pricing and provide opinions. They arrived in company cars and in company attire. Due to circumstances, I obviously wanted the install ASAP. They were able to accommodate me the same day. They were clear with pricing, pleasant to work with and the install was pretty straight forward. They offered a $99 install option, but I upgraded with a bit more sensors. Meaning they could have easily "upsaled" me but did not. A $49 per month fee is SO worth the piece of mind that comes with a security system. The alarm system can work with the fact that I have animals, too! I love that. The system seems to be intuitive and easy to use (even for someone who's somewhat intimidated by all the technical aspects of an alarm system). I cannot yet comment on the actual alarm quality and/or dealing with the company if I have any issue(s). However, I can comment on the great customer service, promptness and convenience of the install. Thank you for all your help Nathan and Dan! I hired Omniguard to install an alarm system in a new property we'd purchased in the Portland area. We were living out of state at the time, so everything had to be done remotely. Eric was a great help. He answered all our questions, explained the system and features to us, and worked with us on our needs. He wasn't pushy about any features, he really seemed to want us to get exactly what we wanted, no less, no more. The system has been installed for months now and our renters appear to love it. We have a management company so we don't talk to them directly, but we know they're currently remodeling a house (they're only renting from us during the remodel) and are adding the same system to their home. I did some research before choosing a security company and went with OmniGuard because of their stellar reputation. I must say: I chose wisely. I had contacted OmniGuard before doing a walkthrough with our home builder and only found out then that the builder had already selected OmniGuard to install a system on the property. Our home builder uses them exclusively for their new homes because they're the best in town. Chris from OmniGuard came out to our home shortly after closing and quickly got us set up. We walked through the house and discussed additional sensors and features. Chris also set us up with an app we can use from our phones to arm and monitor the system. He was professional, knowledgable, and clearly dedicated to providing great customer service. They came out to our brand new Pacific Lifestyles home, and proceeded to sell my wife a contract for security and failed to inform us that we were locked in for 3 years and it would cost $700 to get out of it! Contact Nathan Brady at OmniGuard Security, we did - and the results are fantastic. We needed to upgrade our old system, so I reached out to several local companies. Nathan was first to respond. In our conversation he asked about our needs, confirmed what we wanted, then came out for inspection and estimate. Bingo! He suggested exactly what we wanted, he got the order. Installation came next... and we braced for impact (sometimes stuff goes bad, just because). We were thrilled! Installation time took no more than the time scheduled, and the system is aces. We have been a customer of Omniguard's since 2014. Our original system was with another national security company and we hated the impersonal service. My husband chose Omniguard because it was the highest reviewed local company. And from 2014-January 2019, we received mostly 5 star service. Only today after needing assistance with a small issue did I learn that the previous owner sold our account to another national company My Alarm Center and we received no notification of this change! Apparently the brand "Omniguard" was purchased by another local technology company, but they only provide service at the direction of My Alarm Center for our account. As you can imagine, this is so disappointing. Omniguard had a great reputation but I guess some of their business practices weren't sustainable. I'm giving new service 2 stars because I appreciate the honesty of the new receptionist regarding the situation, however, I would be wary of this brand until the new ownership has some of its own reviews. Anything prior to 2019 is null and void. Now I'm off to sit on hold with My Alarm Center to find out what the status of my contract is.... read more

Customer Service after the sale is insulting to, at best, non-existant.

Be aware, that when you sign up, you are not really signing up with Omniguard security but rather a firm called myalarmcenter. I placed a support call to Omniguard because I am no longer able to manage my lights, thermostats, or door locks using the Alarm.com website or associated app. In fact, none of these devices appear in the app or on the website anymore. I was informed by a support person at Omniguard that I don't actually have an account with them and that I would need to work with myalarmcenter. I don't really know who myalarmcenter is, but I worked with an Omniguard sales rep when I purchased my service and I have Omniguard signs outside my home. I'm not sure these guys are for real, but either way, I'm switching to someone else. read more

UPDATE: After posting this and getting Chris involved again, Omni Guard did come out to my house and fix the sensor issues. Unfortunately, I will have to wait and see how the same situation is handled in the future to determine if all of the service issues were corrected. But Omni Guard definitely did try to make it right. We bought our house a year ago and Chris came and set up our system. He was great in communication and helped us get everything going. However, since then Alarm.com is HORRIBLE. No customer service, I have waited on hold for up to 10 minutes after receiving alerts that our sensors were offline and they had contacted everyone in our emergency contact list. They then told me when they finally got on the phone to "not worry about it.. pretty sure it is just a bad sensor." We were out of town and did not put our minds at ease at all. After three calls to Alarm.com, email and voice mail to Omni Guard (with no response back) we still do not have anything scheduled to fix our sensors. I am not comforable in their service or their ability to handle a situation if we were in an emergency. So disappointing because the relationship started off so great with Chris. read more
