Phillips Electronics Alarm has enabled my neighbor to film in my windows and use their system to stalk myself and my family. They installed and aimed cameras on my neighbor's home that look into my windows and backyard. My neighbor has then used these cameras to see when I am out as well as my and my families activities in my home. When I called to inform them how their system was being used and requested that the camera be redirected they refused and stated that it is my neighbor's right to film into my home. The customer service rep hung up on me when I asked for his name. I would not recommend using a company that supports voyeurism/stalking of people and their families. read more

My husband and I just had an alarm placed by Phillips Electronics this spring. First of all, I just wanted to mention how easy they made the whole process... From first inquiry, to getting a bid, alarm installation, and learning how to use the system.. All went super smoothly! Each person from Phillips that we talked to either on the phone or in our home was polite, informative and professional. We feel good about using a local service too! My husband travels for work quite a bit, and now when he is away on business, I can take comfort in the fact that we now have an alarm system protecting our home and our family. I especially like the option to control the alarm system through our cell phones. Now we can arm it from bed if one of us forgets to arm the system. Could also come in handy if you needed to let someone into the house who doesn't have a code or young children. read more

I've had a Phillips home system for thirteen years and it's been highly reliable (as proven by visits from police and fire department when I've screwed up.) When I've needed it, I've always been able to reach friendly help quickly and there have been no hidden or surprise costs. Recently I needed to upgrade the cellular back-up feature, so I decided to purchase a newer panel that allows me to operate things remotely, add some sensors, and switch out all my smoke detectors. I also had them add a medical emergency button to my fob. Though I didn't shop around (because I didn't want to switch companies) I was surprised at how reasonably priced the whole new system was, especially since installation was very involved. After installation, the company was responsive when I asked them to make free tweaks remotely to fit my personal preferences. And, because I was on a very tight budget (and asked) they let me break the entire cost of the new system into twelve monthly payments. As far as I can tell, the new system is working very well and it feels good to support a local, family-owned business. I'd recommend Phillips in a heartbeat. read more

We recently had the team from Phillips combine two alarm systems in our new facility, from the initial quote from Jon through the complete install from Billy and Ian everything was awesome! They were patient with us as there was construction going on and we had to delay a portion of the install. We had a couple of different alarm companies over for our home. Phillips Alarm set me at ease immediately and I had no sense that they were working to upsell me at all. They listened to my needs, and observed the fact I have dogs and took all of this into account. They even looked at the old system that had been installed into the home and worked out how we could reuse elements to save money. Once upon a time shopping locally was rewarding! This review has been given a single star only because awarding 'zero' is not allowed. I've had service with Phillips for a decade and recently inquired about upgrading from a landline to cellular service. I was told by my representative with the company that my bill would actually go DOWN by doing this so this seemed a no-brainer. They did install new panels etc but once I got my bill it had gone UP rather than the other way around. When I called to speak to my representative I learned he had retired. I then got a call from the owner of the company and after telling her the situation she kept repeating 'you signed a contract' (I did). Bottom line...I should've read the ancient carbon copies they sent me in the mail (I was told they couldn't email them) before signing but had trusted what my representative had told me. Unfortunately, this monitoring company does not monitor the phone calls for quality assurance so I have no leg to stand on other than my word versus their 'you signed a contract' spiel. Bottom line/age old wisdom: READ THE FINE PRINT before you sign anything but my advice is to not sign anything with this company. There are plenty of other options from reputable national companies and you'll most likely get far better customer service. read more

At that time, they did a fantastic job installing an alarm system in my Portland home so it was a no-brainer when I bought a new home in Vancouver, WA to use them again. Besides very professional installation and monitoring, they are easy to reach should you need a refresher on how to use a feature or to answer any other question. I was a Phillips customer for several years. Their products continued to malfunction and, in each case, their solution was to send out one or two "technicians" to resolve the issue. The bills continued to mount and the problems continued to persist. This is an old company with arcane billing practices. I changed providers and have not had a problem since. read more

The 1974 house I bought came with a Phillips alarm system. In the early 90's it foiled a break in attempt while I was at work. A screen door was cut, tried to kick in the back door (which had to be replaced), and broke a window. When they slid the window open it set off the alarm that scared them away. That alerted me to upgrade the system with upstairs and downstairs motion detectors, plus upgraded key pads. Not long ago the alarm started going off in the middle of the night. Phillips sent out Brian, a really nice guy, who knew right what to do. The 40+ year old contacts facing East winds and sun were worn out. He replaced them at a very reasonable cost, and they should be good for another 40 years. It's a good system, and a good company. read more

In early to mid February I contacted Phillips for an alarm install job at my daughters home in Damascus. I told them that there was some electrical work to be done and then a Ring system to install. They told me it was no problem and put me in touch with one of their installers, Sam. I talked to Sam and he said it was no problem and even said it sounded like a pretty simple job to him. Two weeks before the job date I sent Sam via text photos of the equipment that I wanted installed and again he said that none of it presented a problem. Since I hadn't heard from Sam in the two weeks before the job, I sent him a text the day before to confirm. I got no response and left a message. Sam then texted back and said that he had spoken to his boss and that they would not be doing the job. He then went on to tell me that the company had been in business since 1952 and how professional they were. Where exactly is professionalism demonstrated in making an appointment and then ignoring the client, responding only when pressured to, and canceling your appointment the afternoon before the job? I would never use this company for anything and would caution anyone considering using them, as this was completely unsat. The stock in trade of an alarm company should be security and reliability. This company has shown neither. read more

They think it is ok to call at 1 am, multiple times, and to everyone on your emrergency call list, to let you know you need to replace a battery. They did this multiple times, despite being told by the owner to stop. Many other problems to numerous to list. I would not use them under any circumstances. read more

We have used Phillips Electronics in three different homes and we are very satisfied. From installation to service to monitoring, we feel safe and confident in their local staff. The installation techs show up on time, are courteous and efficient. We have never had any problem with the equipment which has always been reliable, one system was 15 years old when we finally moved on. For a short period of time we tried one of the national alarm providers and were very unhappy and quickly returned to Phillips. Most of our friends who have alarms also use Phillips both in their homes and businesses. From our vantage point they are the best; competent, professional, courteous, knowledgeable. read more

This is the worst alarm company ever. We have been dissatisfied for the past year and were just sent the final bill to end our one year contract. Previously, we were very satisfied BRINKS customers. We moved to our new home 11/2012. For a few months we experienced multiple communication problems with PHILLIPS ELECTRONICS. We finally requested that the company take us off line after six months. My husband and I each had lengthy conversations with PHILLIPS employees expressing our dissatisfaction and reasons for wanting to end our contract, and yet for several months Janet requested payment as we had signed a year long contract. She failed to find any documentation of the conversations we had each held with an employee, Mr. Phillips, who informed us that is we were truly dissatisfied, he would not hold us to the year contract. Funny how she could not find that in her notes. She just sent us another bill, permitting us to pay half of what is owed. Here is my review: this is the worst alarm company ever. When I called the company to take us off-line due to construction around a door, they requested a specific time frame or else they were planning to call us to check on the status. The project took longer that I had thought and I was the one who called back after a lengthier off-line period. This happened again with another construction project, and again, I was the one who informed the company. Twice the smoke alarms went off during hot summer days. Both times I answered the phone call by PHILLIPS and reported it was a false alarm. Both times PHILLIPS reported they would cancel the fire department response. Both times firefighters and fire engines showed up at my door. I can give more examples, but this is not necessary. Overall, the communication and level of professionalism by PHILLIPS employees were both very poor. I would not recommend this company at all in protecting your home. read more
