    Shrimp wantons

Stopped here for a girls link up and we had a great time. The music was a vibe, great service and good drinks. What I ordered was cool but nothing I haven't tasted before. I had the esvotich fish with rice and peas. We tried the crab cakes and shrimp wantons. The fish had Great escovitch vegetables, fish was overcooked but full of carribbean spices. Rice was ok. The wantons was deelish but had to much sauce for me. The crab cake was a bit salty but came with a healthy salad which cut the salt. Prime 623 is a good local bar with a great vibe.

Arrived here for a drink on a weekday night and was met with a bouncer who proceeded to check my identification, search my bad and patted my coat down. My friend with me asked" are you sure we came here to eat?" . I had the same sentiment The atmosphere is very lounge clubbish with high top tables and chair and the bar. We ordered a number of items: crab cakes, mussels, wontons and stew snapper. The passion fruit margaritas tasted like medicine hitting the back of my throat immediately with whatever syrup they use so the waiter was gracious to take it back and exchange it. The replaced drink wasn't any better but I drank it since the waiter was so nice. The best thing we got was the crab cake which was full of crab but for 22 bucks it better be. The food here isn't bad tasting but it also ain't mesmerizing, it's like eating at a regular West Indian food joint.

I came here to have a girl's talk drink with my friends. I ordered a Frośe and Pineapple Habanero. My friend ordered Herbed French Fries and soda. The ambiance was nice. It was nice and cool inside on a hot day. My friend went to restroom and there was no toilet paper to be found:-(. When my wings came out. The did the ultimate offense. They "wings" came as all drum pieces. Unfortunately like most I am a flats gurlie. So it felt like they were passing allllll of the unwanted drums to me. I would not have minded if they gave me a mix but oh no. I won't be back. The Frośe was okay.

This is a great restaurant that's always worth the trip to Carnarsie. I've been here a few times and had a great time each time. I love their Nortorius 6.2.3 frozen drink. I've been here for "Wine Wednesdays" for a couple of glasses of wine. I love the food here! From the Mussels to the Calamari to the Shrimp Tacos to the to the Ackee and Saltfish Tostones to the Salmon with mashed potatoes and vegetables. I enjoyed every bite! The servers here are attentive and deserve their tips. The DJ here plays great music that keeps the place lively and engaged. The restaurant is the perfect size with a cascading waterfall against the back wall. I'm looking forward to coming back! You get free shots here from time to time if you're lucky and exude lively behavior.

My uncle and I stopped at Prime 623 to get a bite to eat. He's been there before, so he wanted me to try it out. Nice spot to chill and watch sports. The fruit punch was good, and the salmon tasted fine with the crispy skin. My mashed potatoes were okay. it could've been hotter, just my preference. Asparagus was cooked right, maybe a little more on the plate, though. My uncle enjoyed his food as well. The waiter was cool and attentive. We didn't have to wait long, like I've seen from other reviews. There were people at the bar, and as we came in the one table was leaving. So, I couldn't say how the service would be when there's more people. Overall, not in my neighborhood to frequent. However, security was very hospitable. He seemed like a good genuine dude.

10/25/23: Decided to return and give a second chance. So glad I did. This time around all was amazing and on point. Our server Trishan was on point at all levels. Friendly, engaging, knowledgeable and all round good time. Note: place is on the smaller side reservations highly recommended. Drinks: wow the rum punch definitely smacks a punch Wray n his Nephew totally present in that drink. Food: was going to take away a star because the wait was a bit ridiculous but food was very flavorful and delicious so couldn't in good faith lower the stars. Appetizers: Ackee and Saltfish well seasoned and yummy Fried shrimp wantons equally yummy. Great flavor in the jerk chicken tacos. Would love to see this in a salad. My escovitch fish was huge taste wise I had no complaints. My friend ordered the lamb chops OMG that jerk flavor hit all the taste buds. As I'm compiling review thinking if they Uber eats to my home. Dessert we had the cheesecake not the best I've ever had but it understood the assignment and did its job for our palette. This night in particular live music on deck. Performer definitely had folks rocking in their seats. Their Halloween decorations were pretty good. All in all great time had by all. Def check it out!

I truly feel locals have low expectations on restaurants because why is this place 4 stars ? This place gets busy . The music can be ok at times (depending on your taste) but the SERVICE ? Its horrendous . 5 of us sat . We all ordered the smallest things and EVERYTHING came one by one , with 20-30 min increments - my friend literally ordered sautéed vegetables and didn't get it for an entire hour after ordering , not to mention the food is flooded with salt & the false advertising. I ordered lobster mac n cheese and veggies, I got a bowl full of mac n cheese and 1 lobster tail buried beneath it all . Salty food and ridiculously long wait times. Once my friend finished his calamari the OTHER FRIEND GOT HIS VEGETABLES , ONCE HE FINISHED HIS VEGGIES I GOT MY FOOD - it really didn't make any sense - we were just watching every table get pieces of their order. Long story short I honestly wouldn't do it again - I hate poor service.

I dined here last night. The space is a small neighborhood gem. Soca and R&B to jam to while you drink and eat. The air was not working which is why I gave 4 stars. Thankfully, I travel with a hand fan. I ordered the blackberry margarita, mussels, and fries. It took over 40 mins for my food to come. I almost didn't notice because I was enjoying the music. Once my food finally arrived a third of the mussel shells were empty. However, I informed a lady I didn't know was the owner at the time. They took a few dollars off my bill and the owner and I did a shot. Nice gesture. The only negative I have is the gratuity was included. I wasn't aware. For someone who sat at the bar, the bar tender wasn't too attentive. It took 40 mins to notice I hadn't received my food and not that he was super busy. I'm a tipper so I would've tipped...but accordingly. The owner asked how long I was in town and suggested I return before I leave the city. Her hospitality and that of security would get me to return. Nice spot with an unexpected warm welcome.

I recently heard about this place. They recently opened in November. So we came to try it on a Friday night. The place was crowded around 8 pm but crowd grew more. Not an extremely large space, but decent size. High top tables and bar space available. Lower tables in the back. we were told upon entry that ordering apps at the bar would be 30 mins and entrees at least and hr so we ordered a bunch of apps. (This was not the case) Food: 9/10 Prime festival mussels: the sauce is amazing. The mussels were cooked well. I recommend Fried shrimp tacos: (serving of 2) large grilled tortillas with fried shrimp in a jerk mayo with mango and cabbage slaw. Honestly could have used more cabbage. Flavor was not my favorite. But okay Jerk chicken taco: (serving of 2) large grilled tortillas. Chicken is well seasoned and juicy and served with mango chutney and cabbage. I have the same thoughts in this that more cabbage should be included as the tortillas and large but not a lot of filling. So you're essentially eating tortilla by itself at certain points. Grilled shrimp was my favorite. Very tasty, light seasoning but yet so juicy and flavorful. I personally would not serve with tarter sauce. Maybe opt for jerk sauce or idk a soy ginger or garlic butter. Ambiance: great music playing (old dance hall/ reggae, old & new R&B). Loud enough to vibe to but not good for intimate convos fyi. Decor is nice and simple yet inviting Staff: extremely friendly. Not the most attentive though. But I will say again it was busy and they seem like they are trying to work out a seem less flow. It took entirely to long to be served drinks and food. 20-30 min for a drink. 1hr+ for apps. I'm going to say it's because they are still getting into the swing of things. I will definitely come back as this place has great potential. The staff are so great and friendly and the food I tried is worth coming again. Hoping there is a better process in the upcoming months. Rooting for y'all!

I came here with my 75 year old mother not knowing it's mostly a younger crowd. She loved it! The Manager was kind and accommodating. He made sure we were having a good time. Even the security guard took care of us. The bartender knows how to pour, ok! The drinks were so good I would've had more if I wasn't driving. Between 3 of us we had the jerk chicken tacos, parmesan, fries, mango habanero wings, and lobster with the creamy pasta. Everything was good! I need that pasta again. The DJ is a nice added touch. He played all genres of music. We sang, we ate, we had a great time. It's a really nice addition to the neighborhood. Will be returning for Brunch. And they stay open til 2AM on the weekends! Just go!

Came here midweek during the afternoon for lunch with the family and it was a nice surprise. Been hearing about this place from friends. It was pretty empty when we came in but the music was still on point with a chill vibe. If you like strong delicious drinks, then Omar is your man. They were on point. For appetizers we had the jerk chicken taco and they definitely were on point. For main I had the escovitch snapper, hubby had the pork chops and my mom had the salmon. Everything was just absolutely delicious with the right combination of spices. My mom cleaned her plate which she never does when we go out lol.

This was my first time here. All of the food was incredibly good. We had the chicken wings with Buffalo sauce, the pasta with lobster and the jerk chicken tacos. Everything was delicious. It was happy hour so drinks were also discounted. They were just right. Not too strong, not too sweet Service was good but it could definitely be improved. It was a long wait for a menu and a server. It took multiple attempts to get the attention of the bartender or server.

It was sort of an odd time so the spacious restaurant wasn't very busy. We studied the menu for too long and after much deliberation, here's what we ordered, in order of spice level: - Oxtail ($35): Not spicy, super flavorful, "Trimmed and sliced chunks of oxtail seasoned freely with fresh spices and simmered to tender perfection." - Curry goat ($29): Mildly spicy, "Goat meat marinated and cooked in curry spices and herbs makes this an exotic dish." - Jerk chicken ($20): Apparently incredibly spicy so I steered clear of it, "A Jamaican delight. Spicy, delicious chicken baked with this unique combination of spices from the island." The dishes I could handle were excellent, with no drop of sauce left unmopped. On the sides front, the rice and beans, roti, steamed vegetables, and plantains were all tasty. The entree sizes were hearty. Our server seemed like a cool dude: easygoing with a sense of humor. It was kind of chilly in the restaurant, not sure if we were in a warmth dead zone or what. The bathroom was frog-themed which was a cute touch!

I discovered Kokomo because I knew I wanted our wedding celebration to be in Williamsburg -- a neighborhood that holds so many memories for me growing up in the Bronx and exploring the city as a kid. We flew in from Los Angeles and truly made it a full wedding week experience. I planned the wedding myself, so I had been communicating with Joel for months leading up to the event. We reserved the Champagne Room, which felt like its own beautiful oasis. As a Jamaican-American woman, it meant so much to know my disabled mother would feel culturally comfortable, welcomed, and safe in the space and with the food. From the moment we arrived, the staff was warm, attentive, and calming. Our server especially helped ease my nerves while we were finalizing seating and guest details, and after that, I genuinely did not have to worry about a thing. And the food? Absolutely incredible. Truly perfection. As a vegan, it meant so much to fully enjoy every part of my wedding meal without compromise. The rum punch was fantastic, our guests loved the open bar package, and the entire evening flowed so seamlessly. The aesthetic is pure island luxury -- elevated, warm, vibrant, and beautiful. The communication from the owners and management team was excellent throughout the entire process, and I even had the chance to finally meet Joel at the end of the night after months of planning together, which was such a lovely touch. I was also able to personally thank the chefs. We even accidentally left my bouquet behind, and the team kindly helped us retrieve it the next day. Kokomo NYC is officially a staple in our family now. I already know we will celebrate future milestones there and visit often whenever we are back in New York. It makes me proud to support a Black Caribbean-owned business that creates such meaningful experiences with so much care and excellence.
