This restaurant is fairly new to the Flatbush area and I wanted to give it a try and decided to go for my birthday in March. Overall service was amazing and ambiance was great. I brought my sister and mom here for my birthday and my mom is Caribbean and can be hard to please. So the fact that she and my sister enjoyed the food says a lot of this establishment. My mom and I had the Grilled Branzino and my sister had the Oxtail Pappardelle, and it e all enjoyed our food. I will definitely go back again!

A decent drink but not great

From my first impression (broken glass on the door) to my last impression (employee not holding the door open for me as I exited) of this depressing, music-less, empty bar/restaurant, I was overwhelmed with disappointment. How can this place get a 4.2? Hmmm. It wasn't because of the evidence that a front door breaking glass incident happened. I was surprised in the worse way possible to see the depressing, ominous entryway. It felt wrong to walk in there with any standards or expectations whatsoever. But there was a couple standing in front that recommended it. So against my better judgement, I gave it a shot. Back to the question at hand, it wasn't because of the bartenders that can't make a standard margarita and lack the professional and social skills to get a good tip (they charged a service charge for one person sitting at the bar) or the manager who took it upon himself to move my bottle of water from the stool right beside me to the bar. But didn't sit there. As there were only two people-myself included-sitting at the bar for the entire hour that I was there, that move by him was unnecessary. And it wasn't because of the lack of music in the bar. I overheard the bar staff speaking about the deadness of the room which we all know equals no money for a restaurant bar. Apparently there was a party happening later, which made them move the speakers to the back of the establishment far from the bar area. TGK certainly didn't get a 4.2 Yelp rating for the undercooked shrimp in the crab and shrimp appetizer. The fact that I left a whole shrimp on my plate, which equals to a third of the dish, indicates how I felt about the food. Perhaps the wings are better. It also certainly was not due to the broken doorknob on one of the bathrooms (see pic) that made it difficult to even close the door. You can see from my pic that it looks like it was broken in to a while ago. Yet, it wasn't fixed immediately!? Overall, terrible entryway, nasty margarita, barely heard music, terrible customer service, $72 bill for bar service of 1 barely edible appetizer and 2 drinks, and business owners that don't give a damn about customers' safety when they go to the bathroom equals me never returning.

This was a really good spot. I went in here yesterday with a friend of mine for happy hour. They have they have gone under new management or new ownership, and it used to be called Caribbean social. But now it's called The Gentleman's Kitchen. The food were really good in there. I had the salmon with the mashed potatoes and my friend had the ribs with the mashed potatoes. But what really struck out to me was the drinks I had the plush drink. It was so delicious. It was so sweet. We ordered seconds. The only issue that took the 1 star off for one was that it was a bit hot in there. And they had fans all over. So once they work out the AC conditioning for it, then it should be a more comfortable atmosphere.

45 minutes for drinks! Why it's not even that many people in the establishment. I also wish they had a sign outside, had to look for the address. Service was extremely slow and let's get to the food. Cold pasta and the jerk chicken with Rasta pasta, turned out to be bbq chicken with under cooked pasta and it was cold. The Mac and cheese was good the smoked wings. Stuffed shrimp was cold. Never again.

This is an unfortunate experience for what could've been an easy 5 star experience. The aesthetic is beautiful, the music is good and the the food and drinks are absolutely delicious. You can order any food and it will feel like the right choice. The following is for a table of 3. Unfortunately upon arriving, we had to wait 15 minutes with no attention before complaining about not receiving water or even a menu. 45 minutes in we got drinks One hour in we got some of our appetizers 1hr 45 min in we got the final appetizer and most of the entrees. At 2.5 hours we cancelled the rest of the order so we can finally leave. Very unfortunate for what is an otherwise great establishment. After a small discount and an automatic 20% gratuity, I'm left very unsatisfied and hope no one else has this experience here.

Brought my family here after a baby shower event, and I have zero regrets. TGK out did themselves, service was amazing, food was on point, my aunt is a picky eater and she 100% approved. Thank you Lisa, Arron, Ty, Chef bill and Omar for coming to our table and showing outstanding hospitality. My family and I will be making trips to dine with you all once again. Def 5 star all the way

New spot in town! This place is so beautiful, the ambiance, the lighting, the service & the food. When you're there it doesn't feel like you're in Flatbush. I've only been here twice (so far) & it's definitely a vibe, plus they play great music. Met one of the owners, super chill guy & he had us (me & my bestie) try one of his favs on the menu, which was lobster taco & it was soooooo good! Plus they have an upstairs bar/seating area, which I had no clue about lol.

We had a Superb meal! On the table was the Rack of lamb, A little overcooked but not tough or to the point that it required long chewing, beautifully seasoned; Salmon with a side of mac & cheese and gnocchi, it was wonderful, and smoked chicken with a side of truffle mashed potatoes and Rasta pasta, well seasoned & amazing. When the children are impressed with the meal, something great was definitely done right! The ambiance was relaxing and the meal didn't feel rushed. The waitress was able to secure a dessert for our table and we appreciated that. The cons: - 20% gratuity ($40) was automatically added to the bill. Tipping should be at the diner's discretion. -No major issues with the service but there was some downtime between ordering and getting the food, the staff did check in at the table though.

Honestly food was great as far as the wait goes we waited about one hour for food and then the boss walked over and pretty much accommodated us for the weight as far as how the place looks it's amazing and for my understanding the place has been open for 6 weeks they were under staffed but the drinks and food was really good imagine it another shot in two months

A Night to Remember at Gentleman's Kitchen (TGK) As two busy professional women, our free time is precious. Rare. Sacred. When we finally get a moment to relax, we want great vibes, delicious food, and strong drinks. No compromises. So when we chose Gentleman's Kitchen (TGK), the newly opened restaurant on Flatbush Ave, we didn't know what to expect. But from the very first moment, we were pleasantly surprised. Walking up to the door felt special. A red carpet greeted us. A charming gentleman welcomed us with a warm smile and opened the door like true royalty. Instantly, we felt valued. Seen. Appreciated. The second we stepped inside, we were transported. One moment we were on Flatbush. The next, we were inside a grown-and-sexy paradise. The bar was popping. The music was alive. I was 2-stepping all the way to our table without even trying. We were personally greeted by one of the owners and escorted to our table. That alone spoke volumes. The restaurant design was stunning. The tables were arranged in a cozy coves design. Plush seating that invited you to stay awhile. Tropical images glowing across TV screens. The vibe? Immediate love. Then our friendly waitress arrived, full of energy and warmth. We started with their signature drinks and let me tell you, every single one delivered. Bold. Smooth. Perfectly crafted. ( I wish I could remember the name of each drink but we tried 3 of them and they smacked ) Next came the food. That's when the real magic happened. We ordered the smoked chicken with mashed potatoes and the steak with truffle rasta pasta. The flavors were rich. Deep. Unforgettable. Every bite was satisfying. Every forkful full of love. We cleaned our plates completely left no crumbs. Not one. Yes, we were a little disappointed there wasn't a dessert menu yet. But the owner reassured us desserts are coming soon, and honestly, after everything else, we believe him. Instead of dessert, we went for one more round of drinks. That decision turned into a highlight of the night. The second owner also the mixologist came over personally to tempt us with new drinks he was experimenting with. Boy, oh boy... those drinks were delicious. Creative. Smooth. Memorable. The perfect ending to a perfect evening. What truly made the night unforgettable was the owners themselves. Friendly. Charming. Hands-on. They checked on us personally and shared the powerful story of how they came together to open the restaurant. That personal touch meant everything. It made us feel like more than customers we felt like honored guests. I will absolutely be back. Without hesitation. If you're looking for a place with powerful vibes, amazing food, strong drinks, and genuine hospitality Gentleman's Kitchen (TGK) is the spot. Trust me. Go check it out. You won't regret it. Flatbush now has a gem of a restaurant.

Food was ok...the building and ambiance was beautiful. Ordered the Jerk Chicken and the Salmon. Portion sizes were decent food just needed a little more love. Server was nice no complaints.

This was on my list for a while since it's not too far from my church, but of course, there's always gotta be a caveat with these fancy restaurants charging upscale prices, with subpar experiences. My friend and I came, and the ambiance is gorgeous, but the food took a while to come out. We ordered the buttered lobster rolls for $28, and it was atrocious. Look how small and how much lobster (this is my half). $28 WHOLE AMERICAN DOLLARS. That was a complete waste. The server took it back to the kitchen and they added a little more, absolutely not worth the price, please avoid. Our food came, and it was pretty good. Not a fan of the Mac and cheese but my Rasta pasta with salmon was delicious and so was my friends lamb chops. Half way through eating, the music and air came off-- mind you it's a hot 83 degree day. I was sweating while eating my food are we not in an "upscale steakhouse"? Our server was kind and nice, but thank God because they added 20% gratuity and we were only a party of 2. Would I come back? Probably not. Our bill came up to $180 for 2 but didn't feel like a $180 experience. I could've gotten a more luxury experience for that price tag elsewhere. Not worth it.

    Damn good

What a fantastic experience for anniversary date! Food and drink were phenomenal, service was quick, friendly and professional and the music and vibe were perfect. We had the crab stuffed shrimp, the lobster rolls French fries and crab Rasta pasta to start (we are greedy lol) and shared the NY strip which came with some of the best asked potatoes I've had in a while and some delicious asparagus. Will definitely be back with my girlfriends!

They serve oysters, which adds to that aphrodisiac experience of the oh so 'wow this is a former brothel!'. The bartenders and servers were fast and very sociable with the more sociable customers. The immediate entrance is very tight, and it was uncomfortable navigating the space. We expected there'd be more seating in the back, which there was, but it was limited and not offered to us until we asked for it. We honestly had no clue where it would be and only asked because of how this place was advertised. While it was comfy once we made our way back there, it was reminiscent of a lounge style bar space that almost any bar could replicate with the right room and budget. We didn't feel as though this hit the spot and were let down by this experience. I'm not sure if I can judge the menu of drinks/ foods as expensive, but we left hungry bc we couldn't justify some of the prices. In addition, I've seen a lot of complaints about the volume of the music: it's definitely loud at the front but a lot lower in that back lounge space. It's as loud as any bar's music level would be, but truth be told we were expecting music that matched the vibe of what was advertised and yes, at a lower volume.

My friend and I each order a cocktail, and are catching up. I'm from Brooklyn, however I no longer live here, and this was precious catch-up time with my friend. Then I get interrupted mid-sentence by the old-timer DJ from his low seat in a corner behind the bar. I had bumped the bar with my wrist (bumped my wrist watch as well, not deliberately) and then placed my hand down (granted- more than placed but definitely not slammed), and he decided to warn me that I COULD HAVE made his record skip. It was the Eagles or Santana (far from eclectic, but that's just me). I'm also 99% certain he turned the volume up afterwards, making it even harder to enjoy the company. After that interaction, I struggled to pick it back up with my friend, because I found that distraction very effing rude. When this "4th wall" gets broken down with service, it is hard to then enjoy the space in an uninhibited state. I am all for the Tokyo Vinyl Bar vibe, and I'm also for also giving talent an outlet to share their collection, but this interaction colored my experience, and I closed out after one drink and went elsewhere. I mentioned this to the bartender, and he was kind to offer a buy-back of a rare whiskey, which I did accept. 5 stars for the bartender, but 1 for my experience. I don't like to be harsh or unnecessarily cruel, but this is what it is. I have visited in the past and enjoyed myself. Nonetheless, I certainly won't be coming back.
