We went to Prima on a Tuesday night in December, I made the reservation about a month in advance (as their reservations tend to quickly fill up for the prime dinner spots!). In regards to parking, there is not too much parking around the actual restaurant. Most spots are Resident or Permit parking only. For those driving, there are two parking areas about a 5 minute walk away (Nautica Parking garage), that costs $15. That's the route we took! We arrived just after 7:30PM for our 7:30PM reservation, and the restaurant was packed! We were told it may take an extra 10-15 minutes to sit us down, so we could grab some drinks while we waited. We sat at the bar, it was decorated for the holidays. The main downside of our experience was that it took just about an hour to sit us. We were sat at around 8:25PM. I will say, the service was great after we sat down. They gave us free Prosecco and some pesto bread, with their apologies for the wait. The food itself was good, we had the garlic bread, ribeye, and agnolotti. I think with the struggle with the reservation, we were exhausted and hungry so our experience was a little thrown off. However, the folks did try to help us turn the experience around. We may need to go back again to get a more fresh perspective on the experience. read more

I can here for dinner and drinks on a weeknight reservation. I found the decor to be very cute and the drinks to be very good. I ordered the tiramisu espresso martini and limoncello spritz. I did expect a bit more from the food. I got the arancini app and the clam linguini entree. Both were okay. I'd recommend this spot more for their drinks than their food. read more

Had dinner at Prima last night and it was an amazing experience! The restaurant itself is adorable. We went on a Monday night bc they do almost completely gluten free on Mondays and my daughter and husband have Celiac. I have issues with histamines and the staff took extra precautions to make sure my meal was safe as well. They are very well trained on dealing with food allergies and the food is delicious. To start we ordered the focaccia, fried mozzarella and octopus. Our mains were chicken Milanese (so tasty and crispy), gnocchi, ribeye steak (cooked perfectly) and carrots. Then dessert was cannoli and the dessert trio. Yum! Everything was great from the ambience, to the service (so friendly and helpful), to the food. I would definitely recommend to anyone with or without food issues. read more

Had a 5:15 reservation on a Tuesday. There was some confusion at the host stand too where they asked if we were walk ins which we were not. We did not get our food (which was a fatty and inedible veal chop until 7PM.) In the meanwhile they tried to bring out a compliments of the chef which was raw halibut which came out stinking and was definitely not fresh! I think we would have been ill were we to eat it. Although our service with Dominique was wonderful, the kitchen and management at Prima is horrific. We could not even cut through the fatty veal and were already upset because it took about an hour and a half to bring out. When we asked to speak to the manager, she completely threw her server under the bus and said that our server should have told us the veal chop took an hour to prepare. So unprofessional!! Our server and the decorations were the only good part of this experience! Terrible food! Terrible management! Terrible wait! read more

They make home fries actually taste good. Most times you're at a brunch place and it's super starchy / hits heavy. Here, they had a crunch, were lighter, and had crispy rosemary bits on top of it. The prosciutto Benedict was creative, and the color of the hollandaise was super appetizing. However, the eggs were a bit overcooked and cold. We may have gotten a bad batch as we were told that our food was "coming out next" but proceeded to wait another 10-15 minutes. However, this is a spot I want to show people because of how unique it looks and feels. Steakhouse vibes for brunch with the changing of plates and utensils + serving the food on these majestic looking carts. Seems like that's the best it gets. read more

Came here for Sunday brunch. Service was friendly and quick. The space was beautifully decorated for the holidays. I ordered the French Toast which was delicious and totally shareable if more than one person in your party wants it. I got the Hugo Spritz to drink which made me happy as I've only ever seen it on menus in Italy. I will definitely be back. read more

Went to Prima with my husband this past Saturday. The food was outstanding. We had a burrata salad, bean salad, vodka penne, bolognese and pici. All were delicious. The service was also excellent. the restaurant was very busy. Definitely a locals spot. We will definitely be back next time we visit Boston. read more

I came to Prima with a friend after hearing the hype about it, and it did not disappoint! We had to wait about 40 minutes for bar seats, but service to get a drink was quick so we didn't mind. Once sat we ordered the burrata & Proscuitto, the arancini Tahiti, and the bread basket. All were delicious- we especially loved the arancini with the garlic aioli! We ended with some tiramisu espresso martinis, which my friend and I agreed were very yummy but a little complicated to drink due to the marscapone whipped cream. I'd love to come back and sit at a dining table- the bar was so fun and great to people watch, but we had people leaning over us to order the whole night. Overall an excellent experience! read more

We visited Prima for brunch this weekend to celebrate a birthday, and while I've always loved this spot in Charlestown, I was really disappointed with the service this time. Our server told us we had to order everything at once because of the way dishes are plated, so we did. But our entrees arrived just minutes after the appetizers, leaving us with no space at the table and making it tough to enjoy the meal. Extra dishes and glasses also weren't cleared until the very end, which again made things feel cluttered. The most frustrating part was when the birthday dessert came out with no spoons, not even one. We ended up asking the bartender for them ourselves, which really made us feel forgotten by our server. There was never an apology for the oversight, no check-in on how the food was, and overall it felt like we weren't being taken care of. The food was good, as always, but unfortunately the service was extremely weak this time. Sad to write this review as it was a spot i always recommend... read more

We had a great experience at Prima. We were there celebrating our anniversary and we sat in the rose room in the back, very romantic and intimate setting. We had the bread plate with ricotta and meatballs as appetizers which was delicious. The focaccia is so light and fluffy. For dinner we had the chicken parm and veal chop parm. The waitstaff was very attentive and friendly. We will be back in the future. read more

The restaurant has great food, but it's full of turncoats. It's sad because I loved this place, but got a taste of what the deal really is. After all the money spent, and the recommendations, the groups of people I brought there, and the great reviews, and the people I sent their way. It's a sin to be talked down to like I was. It's was very discouraging to be spoken to the way I was without a true explanation given. All of this After thinking that I was accepted there... This obviously isn't your average review, and that shows how sincere I am about all this. Great Food. Great decor and format. It's also not overly priced like a lot of places. They could def charge more, but don't. Respect for that. I do feel hurt by it to the point I chose to move out of Charlestown. I felt sick walking by a place that deemed me a person that isn't good enough to be allowed there. What a Shame. You hurt me Prima. read more

My friends and I had such a great experience here. We were seated a bit late but the management was really amazing about it. We ordered a bottle of wine for the table, recommended by their sommelier. it might have been the primitivo. What a great wine! The food was just out of this world delicious (see pics). As a whole everything that came out was fresh and packed with delicious flavors. The ambiance is warm, which is probably all you want while eating Italian food. It was hard to select what to eat because every choice on the menu looked amazing, so will have to visit again and try something different. read more

Love the place. It is hard to get table which makes hard to reach my top 3. But if you do. You will have a wonderful night for sure

We made reservations for a Wednesday at 8:15pm (it's very much recommended, especially for dinner). We had to wait a bit -around 20 minutes to be seated since it was so packed. However, service was amazing and everyone from our server to the hostess was incredibly attentive and friendly. The noise level was pretty loud, so keep that mind. All of our pasta dishes were delicious. My favorite was the bolognese (not pictured here). The tiramisu espresso martini was also super tasty. Will definitely be going very soon!! read more

Very exciting vibe to this restaurant. Food was excellent. Creative plates and very fresh. The attentive service was top shelf and the sommelier found us a wonderful wine. While waiting for our table we went into a room at back of the house. A lot of great food for the money. I would come back for sure. read more

Prima has such a great menu and is one of the newer restaurants filling the need for Italian places in Boston who don't have dated, tacky decor. Ambiance is cozy, could be a special occasion spot but I think they crammed the tables too closely together for that. You're a couple feet from the table next to you for most of the tables in the main dining room. The martini Scorsese was a play on a dirty martini but with tomato. It was delicious but light of the alcohol compared to a dirty martini. The Danna granata was also good but a long stronger. They had a great diversity of different alcohols and flavors from savory/spicy to sweet to light and fruity on the cocktail menu. Food was all good but not great. The vegetables paired with the scallop crudo were partially underdone and kind of stalky. But it still had an interesting flavor. Octopus has a lot of filler ingredients and looked great on the plate but a very small amount of actual octopus. The flavor was briny and slightly smokey so definitely did enjoy that. Our server was awesome; super laid back but also attentive. I'll definitely try to come back to try more of the menu or for brunch. read more

Overhyped and disappointed for the price. I think they market it really well on the place being beautiful to draw in customers but we went as a large group for Mother's Day and was disappointed by the fixed menus with no steak even though it's a steakhouse? Appetizers were good, but lamb was salty, fish was dry and the pasta dish was super al dente and barely seasoned? The dessert was terrible and had a weird grainy texture. Sorry would not come back to try their regular menu if this is the type of dishes they put out. read more

Prima was delicious! We walked in at 5 pm without a reservation and we were seated in a booth. The ambience is adorable - the bar in the middle is beautiful. We got the tuna tartar and smoked bruschetta to start. Both appetizers were delicious. The bolognese was really generous - we brought it home for a second meal. They had a delicious orange wine by the glass that id highly recommend. Everything we tasted was so good - I will definitely be back here! read more

Finished the freedom trail and was looking for a restaurant- found this gem nestled in a seemingly residential area! Highly recommend getting patio seating especially if the sun is going down. The inside was pretty crowded and busy, but the patio was calm and quiet! The food was great! Everything came out pretty quickly and plates were hot and delicious. I know this place doesn't have that many reviews as it's new, but give this place a chance!! read more

I had the opportunity to dine at here and it was a wonderful experience! Upon arriving, I was informed that the fire alarm had just gone off so the usual ambiance wasn't there, but the staff made up for the experience and still delivered! The meatballs are to die for! Very moist, full of flavor and the sauce was superb. For my dish, I had the Ziti Bolognese and it was amazing. Midday way through dinner, the typical mood was set and this heightened the experience even more! Drinks are okay - nothing to write home about. I was a little disappointed that a 5 star restaurant didn't have solid ice cubes for old fashions. Definitely look into booking the private room in the back! That room is a whole mood! Checked out Prima on a beautiful friday night and was seated on the patio. This place was packed so I definitely recommend reservations! The patio was great but the inside was absolutely gorgeous. The food was amazing. We got the black truffle arancini to start which we wanted to lick the plate it was that good. Then we got the 6 oz filet and spicy pici pasta. Both were incredible, the filet is some of the best i've had! I cannot wait to come back. read more

Always an amazing experience at Prima! They do such a good job updating the menu to reflect seasonal flavors. My current new summer flavor is the strawberry tiramisu. The homemade pastas are mouth watering and the steaks are cooked to perfection. The filet and sirloin are our go to choices. The vibe is friendly and fun! The back of the restaurant has a speakeasy-like bar called the "Rose Room". The lights are a little lower and the dining is a little more intimate! The food was a 12/10! Far superior than most North End places. Thought paid to flavors and textures. The lobster in the linguini was still soft and not rubbery. And the portion was more generous for the price than that of a recent Boston celebrity chef place I visited. Very accommodating to my recently developed sensitivity to cheese - but not butter and all dairy. But the dining experience = claustrophobia to the max. I understand that they want the old steakhouse feel with red booths, but this is one of the only restaurants I've visited (excluding clubs) that made me wonder if they were up to fire code. Though the service in general was attentive and friendly, one server bumped me 4x passing the small aisle with dishes. And by the time I sat at the bar, the lone single seat had almost been usurped by a couple with a Tomahawk and a manspreader. Lesson learned - takeout only. The food is really really truly delicious. read more

Absolutely divine! Request to sit in the Rose Room when you book your reservation, it is the epitope of a romantic date night spot. I took my fiancé here for his birthday dinner. We got the arancini for an appetizer and shared one of the large steaks for dinner. The steak came with two sides - creamed spinach and crispy potatoes. For dessert we got the Dessert trio, which was chocolate mousse, strawberry tiramisu and a layer cake with chocolate. Everything was delish. I can't wait to come back! Went for my son's birthday Attentive staff. Put us in the back in the Rose room which I never knew existed was actually a pretty nice room. Food is Ok. I honestly say the best thing I had was a Caesar salad. Don't get a steak it was actually a pretty crappy strip steak loaded with fat and gristle. I'd stick with a pastapasta or chicken dish. Scoop of gelato for dessert I would guess it had been scooped early in the day and put back in the freezer so it had iced over. Decent place lots of other options out there. read more

If you're looking for a scene, this place is it. My son and I went for dinner on a Tuesday. The place was jammed! Bar and tables completely full and noise level through the roof. No chance at conversation. So be warned what you're getting into. The service was very slow. We waited over an hour for our meals. I think it's all about the bar here. We watched others drink multiple bottles of wine, etc. without taking a bite of their food. This restaurant is not inexpensive so it was baffling. The food itself was delicious. For primi we had the bucatini amatraciana and farfalle pesto. For contorni we shared steamed asparagus and marsala mushrooms. The bread plate was wonderful. A warning: no sides come with your entrée. You have to order everything separately, which raises the bill significantly. I understand this restaurant is new and evidently trendy, so it'll be interesting to see how it goes. But for the moment I wish we'd gone to a BYOB. read more

There's not many words that describe how well this restaurant does dinner. From the atmosphere to the food to the Tiramisu espresso martini. The 14oz Striploin was ordered medium rare and made to perfection, paired with Au Jus sauce this entree was great. The shared fresh mozzarella and Caesar salad were perfect. I am shocked that this restaurant is not rated higher. Hands down one of the best meals Ive ever had. The scallop crudo and pea salad were very unique and amazing. My husband loved his ribeye. First off, the space is beautiful and the spot is bumping. Unfortunately, they were out of the Florentine steak, which was the main reason why my party wanted to dine here. We pivoted to the bone-in ribeye, per the waiter's suggestion, which wasn't very noteworthy. I will credit him for suggesting something cheaper, but we probably should've just balled-out w/ the tomahawk. The rigatoni vodka was a bit run of the mill, and the amatriciana was lacking heat and salt. The meatballs were "fine", however the arancini was wicked good. All told, I wanted to like this place more than I actually did. Its certainly a fun time and a wonderful atmosphere w/ the happening bar in the middle and the open kitchen, but it just didn't live up to the expectations. read more
