Ordered Bolognese pasta to go for roughly $26 and it was the smallest portion I've ever seen. Currently making food supplement my dinner

Went for the ambiance was surprised by the food. Plating & visual of meals didn't stack up to the flavors that surprised us. Server was knowledgeable and welcoming. We ordered a ton off the menu to try and loved the unexpected use of grapes in dishes. Would love to go back for a drink in the back bar. read more

This was the most delicious restaurant meal I've had in a long time. We came here for our anniversary dinner, and I cannot say enough how great an experience it was. The servers were very enthusiastic and knowledgeable. We sat in the back room (I assume because it was our anniversary and they wanted to make it special for us, as there were 3 other couples there also celebrating anniversaries). I cannot say enough how delicious the food was. We started with the garlic bread, which is very unique, not your traditional garlic bread, but very tasty. Then we both had filet mignon, and it was the most tender and perfectly cooked steak. Like melt in your mouth good. For our sides we had the mashed potatoes and carrots, and when I say the flavors of both the potatoes and carrots were TOP NOTCH. All I kept saying to my husband all night was "this is so delicious", we ate absolutely everything. I joked that we should make it a tradition to come here every year for our anniversary going forward... we might actually do just that. read more

Very disappointing! I hate to complain about restaurants unless there is reasonable cause. Prima gave us too many reasons never to go back. We went for a double birthday dinner with friends from NYC who visited and celebrated last Sunday night. My drink, a Poloma, had to be sent back 2X. It was overly salted when there should be no salt, and the second was undrinkable. I ordered another drink entirely. We all ordered Ceasar salads, and they were all overly saturated in dressing. I usually like my dressing a little heavy, but this was seriously overdressed. Between courses, we waited to speak with the sommelier for a bottle of wine suggestion, and by the time he came to the table, our food had been served and sitting, and the wine did not show up until over 1/2 way through the meal. My friend's dinner was GF pasta, and they substituted gnocchi without informing her that was the substitution. Gnocchi is not a 1 to 1 substitution for pasta, and at the very least, the kitchen should have informed the server to ask the customer if that was agreeable. I ordered the eggplant parm, and it was overcooked or most likely reheated with 1 or 2 slices of breaded eggplant with minimal sauce and then smothered in a top layer of cheese. My partner and I shared the chocolate mouse for dessert, and once again, it was inedible. The server should have noticed this and asked about it, but nothing. By this point in the meal, we had had it, and thankfully, good conversation with friends saved our get-together, but that had nothing to do with the meal. Prima is supposed to be a high-end Italian / steakhouse restaurant, and they executed it like, at best, a typical local bar food. Boston has a lot of great food, but this was not the place to find it. read more

First time here, loved the guava Bellinis but not so much the prosciutto Benedict. The bread that was used tasted phenomenal but i felt like it was doused in oil and idk if the eggs on top caused it be soggy but it was. I went in on a Sunday afternoon wanting to enjoy a nice brunch but they had a lot of families with babies and had strollers in the tight restaurant that ended up hitting my stool top chair with the strollers. I thought it was going to a nice class wine bar but it was not what i expected. Maybe have to come back to try the pasta read more

We stopped in on a whim and it didn't disappoint! It was little crowded but the food was great and the meatballs were killer!

Prima is my favorite spot in Boston! The staff is very attentive and great with food allergies. My partner and I have never had a bad meal here. Recommend making a reservation as it can get busy on the weekends. The atmosphere is great, we are always welcomed with a friendly face each time we walk through the door. Personal favorites are the Chicken Parm, Burrata, and Espresso Martini. Highly recommend! Signed, a fellow Townie read more

If I could give more stars, I would. This beat our expectations.. first time in Boston and it has not disappointed yet. I ordered the penne ala vodka pasta, my boyfriend ordered chicken Parmesan with a side of Brussel sprouts (we shared). I also ordered a lemon drop & my bf ordered his regular old fashioned. Be mindful the drinks are on the sweeter side but still amazing. If you're doubting coming here, come! The food is incredible, big portions and the servers are so sweet/welcoming! Also, it would be best to make a reservation before going, definitely can get crowded.. We will be back! read more

Hosted a dinner for a milestone celebration in their private dining/event space and was so pleased with everything- from the events manager's help in curating the menu to the accommodating serving staff, the knowledgable and gregarious sommelier, not to mention the food... which was incredible. If you're looking to make a dinner feel special, this is the place to do it. read more

Great vibes, good food but it is always freezing in here - like AC blowing on you constantly. It's December 13th - why???

Food, service, ambiance, ALL of it was incredible I've now gone back twice within the past month. My friend ordered the farfalle pesto which was a pleasant surprise- unique and really delicious The fusilli alla vodka was simple and to die for My boyfriend got a steak with a side of the brown butter mashed potatoes (incredible!) Linguini vongole- a classic, simple seafood pasta dish. Sauce is divine Apps- both the steak and tuna tartare were melt in your mouth delicious. I could go on! It's hard to find a restaurant with both quality, delicious food and a great ambiance There's also the rose room out back which is almost like a separate mini bar. Great cocktail menu! read more

Prima is a beautiful restaurant and our server was wonderful. Food was OK. The issue was with the Wine Director? Not exactly sure of his title? We ordered one of the nicer Barolos on the menu, which he brought to the table with a dirty decanter. Told us he could "rinse it out, if we want" - SO awkward. He proceeds to decant into the dirty decanter, touched and used by another table with another wine, and then tells us the wine we ordered was a good "entry-level" wine. What?!? Epically insulting, and totally bizarre. read more

Wow. Wow. An absolutely breathtakingly decor, a huge and vast food menu and a well put together and thoughtful wine list. Obvious attention to detail with genuine and kind service. We can not wait to come back, as often as we can. There was at least 10 things on the menu we wanted and to settle for a few seemed too difficult for a Wednesday.....so we purposely ordered....so much. An energetic and mature younger staff that seemed dedicated to working together and hard. Thank you for a great evening. read more

Service excellent, environment fun and lively. Apps were ok, Salad was nice. We were a party of four and each entree ordered was worse than the next. Certainly not authentic Italian flavors. I'm thinking we all ordered the wrong dishes because I can't understand how this place could get so many positive reviews. Will not go back. read more

Great new restaurant! We sat outside for brunch and the ambience was great. Felt like we were sitting on a sidewalk in Europe. Lovely patio furniture. The inside of the restaurant was really cool too and the wide open windows were a nice touch. Food was great. I got the prosciutto eggs Benedict. Look forward to returning for dinner. read more

It was a nice looking small restaurant with two large windows in front. It was conveniently located with walking distance of the Marriott Residence Inn Boston Harbor on Tudor Wharf. Juan, the employee working the bar and taking orders was exceptionally welcoming and friendly. We were given some bread, olive oil and several olives to begin. The caesar salad was exactly how we liked it, chopped and without too much dressing. The pizza was well made and tasty. The wine selection was good and not overpriced. I will go back to this restaurant next time I'm in the area. read more

My wife and I celebrated my birthday here in late September 2024. Prima was fabulous in every way: delicious food, a menu that features classics and tempting 'new takes,' a beautiful and vibtant front room, a cozy rear 'garden room,' and friendly staff. It's an Italian restaurant with a steakhouse focus (although both of us had pasta, the lobster pasta and a special bolognese). We also had an interesting take on bruschetta for an appetizer and a very yummy broccoli carbonara. My cocktail was what they called the 'East on the Adriatic': Rye, salted Espresso, Demerara, Amaro Nononino, bitters. Yum! I am a fan. read more

Perfect service, vibe, food was immaculate. 4 stars only for the tiramisu espresso martini not being as advertised and the dessert being still a bit frozen but excellent flavor. If I could rate 4.5 I would read more

The food was subpar. It took well over an hour for it to be delivered. Sadly it was not worth the wait as they forgot the penne with the chicken piccata and it showed up with half the plate empty. The chicken parm was no better and was burnt and served without any pasta. Then towards the end, they burnt something in the kitchen and the whole restaurant filled with smoke and smelt. The ambiance is beautiful so may be a worthwhile place to get a drink but that's about it. read more

I went on Thursday to have a night cap after dinner. The place was busy and buzzing with energy. Then I sat at the bar...no hello from the bartender, no hello ladies how are you doing,, what can I get you... Maybe they should watch an episode of Cheers to watch Ted Danson in action. read more

My friend and I had a fantastic experience dining at Prima. The food looked stunning and tasted even better. The ambiance of the restaurant is very beautiful, clean, and not overbearing. The entire staff from the Hosts and the runners were very friendly and helpful. A special shout-out to our wonderful server Maria who was very sweet and offered great suggestions for our dishes. Very engaging, energetic, and knowledgeable on the menu items. Thank You Prima for having us, I would strongly recommend this place to everyone (save room for dessert)!! read more

This was my second visit to prima to celebrate a special event with my daughter on a miserable rainy Thursday night. The restaurant was packed and initially thought we would need to wait an hour for a table . We proceed to the bar where we were seated almost immediately! Darren was our bartender. He was pleasant and attentive. Our food was brought quickly and was absolutely delicious ! Scott the manager introduced himself as a table had become available and I appreciated that personal introduction. After our yummy meal, our bartender surprised us with a complimentary dessert to celebrate our special night . I was so impressed!! Again another wonderful experience at Prima!! read more

My wife and I took someone here as a thank you for watching our dog while we went out of the country! Our guest was very surprised at the quality and quantity of the food, both excellent!! GLUTEN FREE / CELIAC PEOPLE GET OVER HERE ASAP. I am a recently diagnosed celiac so have very recently tasted gluten. I went on Monday and their whole menu was gluten free! Gluten free Mondays (unreal). I could not tell anything was gluten free. The focaccia was unreal, the arancini, vodka pasta, and limencello tiramisu... everything was beyond words good. The atmosphere is beautiful and our server was amazing and so sweet. It wasn't packed so seriously if you're going for gluten free night, disregard all other reviews and just go. I could not be happier with my experience, and am so beyond grateful for a gluten free night. read more

I hosted a private event for my fiancés 30th birthday in the Rose room this past December. I worked with Chelsea Madison, the event manager who was flexible, accommodating, responsive, and very professional. Chelsea was very transparent on price and throughout the process she gave helpful recommendations on how to achieve the vibe I was going for at a good price. The staff were willing to create custom off menu items for the event, and basically anything we asked for they accommodated. The service was great, all the food came out hot and fresh and everyone raved about how good the food was. I would definitely recommend Prima for anyone looking to host a private event we had an exceptional experience! read more

Amazing ambiance and even better food. Come to sit at either of the large bars for dinner or a drink!

From start to finish, Prima was amazing! Scott in Guest Services was able to get my wife and me a table for our anniversary with short notice (we had no luck on Open Table for weeks). Ryan, our server, helped us with a wine selection and his prompt service at the table was appreciated. Great personality. The ambiance in the restaurant was romantic and everything was spotless and clean. We were among the beautiful, young people of Charlestown. It was a great dinner and night! Thank you, Prima! read more

Terrible service and management. Never dining again. Wouldn't recommend. There are much better places in the north end. Waiter didn't know anything about the food, brought out a dish which they were informed there was a deathly allergy to, and never said happy birthday on a birthday reservation and checked the ID of the birthday girl too. read more

Our family celebrated our daughter's 21st birthday at Prima. Her new boyfriend attended and ordered the Veal Prime Rib. He said it was fine but didn't eat much of it. We packed it up and when we returned home I tried a bite of it. It was so salty as to make it inedible. I have never in my life eaten something so salty. It was as if someone tried punking us but unfortunately, it was no joke. I wish he hadn't been too shy to complain at the restaurant as I would have sent it back and had him order something different. I called the restaurant to share the story and was told the manager would call back to discuss but never received a call. That's the last time they'll see us and our friends. read more

I know they are still relatively new but it's been open long enough I figured our experience would be better by now. My wife and I recently visited Prima for brunch, which we were so excited for! We had been a couple times previously (both for dinner) and enjoyed our first visit, didn't care for it the second. While we were there for brunch the restaurant was only half full at the time, which we were a bit surprised, but also happy to see as it can get really busy at certain times. It took us close to 15 minutes after ordering to get our coffee and another 45 to get our food, which came out cold. My wife ordered the eggs benedict which couldn't have been more disappointing. I understand some people like extra soft eggs, but this was borderline raw and sat on top of a piece of untoasted bread, raw tomato, and uncooked prosciutto. It was also smothered in a tomato sauce that didn't taste right. I wish it was just regular hollandaise! That took 45 minutes to prepare? Also there were supposed to be "crispy" potatoes on the side and not one of them was crispy, it didn't even look like they were roasted in the oven or seared, they weren't even brown. I got the French toast, which was decent, not great. The benedict was borderline inedible so we ended up splitting the French toast. I want to be clear this is 1 truly bad experience in 3 visits, the restaurant is absolutely gorgeous especially this time of the year and the location couldn't be more perfect especially for me as a I live in the area, BUT the food has not been good the last 2 times we have visited. I'd like to give it another shot, but this brunch experience really left a mark. I'll definitely pop in and sit at the bar and a grab a drink or two, maybe an app. The bar setup and overall ambiance is quite nice. But if I want a higher quality meal and better service I'll prioritize booking the other excellent Charlestown restaurants over prima, which is really too bad as I had such high hopes for this place. I do hope things change and prima sees this and can make adjustments as the restaurant is great for the Charlestown community and I do want it to succeed. read more
