Oh, how I love Dahlia! I happen to be talking to someone at a Yelp event about the best restaurants…read morearound, and of course Dahlia was mentioned. After that Dahlia was on my brain for the rest of the week. I was so happy that I was able to get reservation because Dahlia wasn't going to leave my brain until I had had some Pan con Tomate. This place is located in an old house in the Coronado neighborhood. There is a very cute front patio that is shielded from 7th St. by shrubs. The front porch is enclosed with windows, and they managed to fit several tables in there. We've sat inside the porch area before, and it has a different feel from the main bar and dining area. In the main dining area there are a few tables and bar that runs the length of the room. It's such a nice cozy atmosphere. The food here is kind of a fusion of Spanish with a touch of Mexican - - and no they are not the same. In fact, there very different. I absolutely adore Spanish food, so I really appreciate that aspect of Dahlia. The cocktail menu has some wonderful choices, and every time we've come here I've ordered the Black Dahlia. If it's so yummy! Hubby ordered the Agua de Valencia, also yummy, but I stand faithfully by my Black Dahlia. The menu here is tapas, so you order a few (or several) small (or larger) shareable plates. We started with something I absolutely love: Pan con Tomate. The toasted Noble bread with the tomato and garlic is so good. We followed that with charcuterie, which included Iberico chorizo, jamon Serrano, and manchego, among other items. It is a perfect charcuterie. That port wine cheese--so good. Next, we ordered the potato croquettes. Super smooth potato with jamon Serrano and brava sauce and crema--chef's kiss! I want to be lying if I said I wanted these potato croquettes every day of my life. Finally, we ordered the special, which was octopus in a cilantro sauce. Omg--so delicious! The octopus leg (arm??) was quite large, and perfectly prepared--not at all chewy. The sauce was good, but I liked it best with just a touch of the sauce. One of the things that I like about this place is that the owner goes from table to table to make sure everybody is enjoying their experience. If you've read my reviews before, you know that I find this to be a really great touch. A manager or owner who takes that time really cares about the customer. I say it many times too many people - - if you have not been to Dahlia you MUST put it on your list. It's truly a gem!

Here's a Short-cut summary: Exceptional food! Exceptional service! Cute place!…read more We dined here on a Sunday morning, late in September, in the year of our Lord, 2026...and It really was exceptional and memorable. Every beverage, and every entre' had layers of subtle flavor that had us all raving and passing around spoon and fork-fulls of samples that we shared together. My daughter had the breakfast sandwich and it was great (*beyond great, actually). I had just eaten the free breakfast offered at the hotel we stayed at last night, so only ordered the tomato salad (it had a catchy name that I think had something to do with a Bloody Mary, but I didn't take notes and my buhh...buhh...brain is not as sharp as it used to be, so I could be completely wrong about the name. Ask the staff and I bet they will know what I am refering to. It was fantastic and had others at a neighboring table asking what it was and how it was (I gave the "oh my gawd this is soooo good' eyebrows) to indicate that is was to kill or die for. Finally, my wife went for the mashed avocado toast selection, and I can honestly say that the bite I took to sample it was enough to have me come to the conclusion that it was the best avocado toast that I have ever had. When our waiter checked on how we were doing, the conversation lead to his sharing that almost all the offerings at VALENTINE are made with near-by farm to table ingredients. I hinted at how pleasant the beverages that we ordered were. Our waiter (who goes by the name, Jake and was super-personal, professional and caring) suggested the Cajeta Latte. I have never been let down by suggestions from staff at restaurants, so that was my choice. Muy Bueno! My daughter did the same, except that she went low and I went high (regarding temperature of the drink). My wife ordered a chai and kept saying how good it was as she sipped hers throughout the meal. To summarize, this place is fantastic and if you like food that is made by those with love of cooking in their souls--who appear to take joy in "wowing" others as they dine, VALENTINE should be put on your culinary bucket list. So stop reading this review and get your butt into one of their booths. Oh, I almost forgot... we had a pastry as a brunchy dessert after our late breakfast. I cannot recall exactly which one my wife and daughter selected, but it was really good. If you take a peek at the area where they keep their pastries, you will see that they all look amazing. And, based on the pastry that we sampled, I would bet my bottom dollar every one of those pastries you are looking at would taste great and satisfying.

Well, I was born the day after Valentine's Day, so I was certainly intrigued by a restaurant with a…read morename like Valentine. I stopped by on a Friday evening at 7:45 with a friend. We had a reservation, but there were several tables open, so we probably would have been find. They have a complimentary lot, but it's not that big. Thankfully, I was able to find a spot. Ambiance (4/5): Valentine is a charming restaurant. Relatively small but comfortable. They have an open kitchen and there are also some couches in addition to your typical seating. We sat at a two-person table. It was a little small, but it was fine. And it was a little hot inside. Something to be mindful of, especially during August in Phoenix. Service (4.5/5): The service throughout was great. Attentive, efficient, and friendly. Our waiter did well taking care of us. No complaints. Drinks (4.5/5): Valentine has a nice wine and cocktail list. I ended up going with a Chilean wine. Potentially the first time I've had wine from Chile. My dining partner liked her cocktail. Food (4/5): We started off with the Sonoran what pretzel as an appetizer. It's served with whipped hen butter and honey comb which is an interesting take. A little mix of sweet and savory. And hey, I'll take a healthier pretzel every day of the week as long as it still tastes good. It did. Crispy on the exterior and soft on the inside just as you hope. One of their most popular starters. From there, I had the elote pasta which is their most popular dish. The presentation is awesome. The pasta is made to look like corn on the cob. And this was my first time having elote pasta. I love elote and I love pasta, so I was excited to try this fusion. Sadly, while not bad, both me and my friend agreed that it could have been better. We appreciated the creativity, including the dry corn kernels sprinkled on top, but the sauce was just too dry. It needed more creaminess to take it to where it could be. Pro tip: Valentine has a speakeasy inside of their restaurant. Stop by afterwards for a night cap. You can get in either through the restaurant or through the back. Our waiter took us there after our meal. It's called Bar 1912.

We came in to celebrate a birthday as a group of four, and unfortunately, we all left feeling pretty underwhelmed. As a group, we agreed it's not somewhere we'd return to. Let's start with the positives! The restaurant itself is beautiful, cozy, and warm. It's also very tiny and has an open kitchen, and since we were seated pretty close to it, you definitely feel the heat. A couple of my friends were actually a little too warm throughout dinner. The service was spectacular! Our wine recommendations were stellar I tried three different kinds and all were a 5/5. The ice cream sandwich?! Insanely delicious. If it's on the menu when you go, get it!! We ordered one and immediately had to order another because it was that good. My friends and I practically ordered the entire menu, and unfortunately, the main entrees were where the disappointment came in. We ordered the roasted chicken ($33) and bavette ($55), and neither really stood out to us. The bavette had a chewy texture, while the chicken felt a little too plain. I expected the sauces and toppings to bring more flavor, but they didn't quite come together the way I was hoping. Ironically, we found the vegetable dishes to be much more flavorful and memorable than the proteins. For the price point, I'd expect everything to be at that same level. A couple of other things also left a bad taste. We were accidentally charged for a drink we never ordered, and after calling twice to get it corrected, I still haven't received a response. We also noted that we were celebrating a birthday, and our host mentioned that we'd be "taken care of," which made us think there would be some sort of birthday acknowledgment even something as simple as a complimentary dessert. Unfortunately, there wasn't which is totally fine but it was just brought up multiple times by staff which leaves you with a hope that something special is coming when it isn't lol Overall, I'm really glad I finally got to experience Restaurant Progress and can check it off my list, but I think the anticipation was better than the actual experience. The service, wine, and ice cream sandwich were definitely highlights, but the food and overall experience just didn't live up to the expectations I had going in.

This is truly as good as it gets for dinner on this side of town: amazing views (day and night), stellar A+ service, and a refined menu that has just the right amount of options with some variety but thoughtfully curated by their chef and team. I can't sing their praises enough. This is THE spot I bring someone from out of town to show off the Valley. It's top notch. Let's get into the food: everything very very well prepared and delicious (as expected). Parmesan black pepper gnocchi: delicate texture and really solid flavors all around. Had us dipping our bread in to enjoy every last bite! Prickly pear miso glazed Icelandic salmon: light but memorable ponzu, tender and juicy cook, and the black sesame bamboo rice was a great pairing. Aged prime New York strip: perfectly medium rare. A great cut. Decadent Boursin potato cake paired very well with it. Overall, this is still a 10/10 for me. Tip: you need to book a reservation. Don't bank on there being a table and just showing up. It's a very popular spot that does often fill up, or also book out for private events. Don't miss the chance to come here!!

I don't even know what else to say about it. It was perfect. My partner ordered the NY strip and his was delicious as well and the Boursin potato cake was so unique and tasty. Drinks were great too. All around everything was just perfect. If I ever find myself on death row this would be my last meal. We will absolutely be back!

I parked in the parking garage, which I am not a huge fan of, but that is where the Hearsay website said to park for validation. Some of the others in my group did use the valet at the Ritz. We were seated promptly and ordered some drinks to start including wine, sangria and mocktails. Everyone enjoyed their drinks! We also started with a couple of appetizers for the table including burrata and crispy tuna rice bites. For entrees, we went with a variety of items at the table. My friend Arlene and I split the salmon and asked for extra veggies. Other friends enjoyed the Cobb Salad, Grilled Cheese and french fries, and fish tacos. We were pretty full after that but decided to share the Chocolate Chip cookie for dessert and it was a perfect sweet ending. Hearsay definitely caters to the Happy Hour / after work crew. They close at 8 and our group was one of the last there the evening we went. Service was attentive and friendly and there is an energetic open vibe inside too. I will absolutely return - especially for lunch or happy hour!

For two people we ordered three types of empanadas we probably could have gotten away with two flavors and maybe a lighter tapa or desert but really wanted to try the cheese and guava empanada and didn't want that to be a main option in case we didn't like it. Needless to say we really liked all three: picadillo, arroz con pollo and guava and cheese - the picadillo was the favorite however both for the inside flavor and the accompanying dip. Pricing is not bad I'd say the serving and size of the three empanadas for $14 is a great price.

This woman deserves ALL the recognition because she was giving A1 service from beginning to end.
