I havent been to any other reptile centers but I honestly have no desire to. The staff at Predators is fantastic. I'm new to snake ownership and the manager (? I would guess - he's worn a Venom shirt the last 2 times I've been in) has been SO helpful answering all my questions, and I have a lot. He told me to call anytime I have questions or to bring my snake in if I have concerns. As far as selection goes, they have a ton of reptiles available plus anything you may need supply wise. I really only go for mice, but it looks like their food selection is pretty hefty. Highly recommend (honestly just based on their excellent customer service) for anyone with reptile needs. read more

Knowledgeable staff, clean and well organized store, clean feeder area, pets are noticeably staff handled. Our family, and myself especially, wanted to send a thank you to everyone at Predators Reptile Center for all the help these past few weeks. I really want to send a special thank you and many, many, kudos to Colby who has helped us each of our visits to your store. I'm actually going to take a moment and let you know that we did a lot of research before selecting your store. I knew when this journey started that we would be spending a lot of money to get our project up and running and wanted to choose not only the best location, but one that we as a family felt strongly about. I visited LLLReptile and Supply, WildSide Pets, The Reptile Store, Extreme Exotic Pets, Hold Fast Reptiles and Exotics, and AE Herps and Exotics as well as a few online shops before selecting the experience at Predators Reptiles. I have learned in my career to observe every detail of a place from its cleanliness, customer service, and overall environment. Out of all of the locations that I visited (and many were very nice), your location was the clear choice for us as a family. Probably number one in my book was that I completed a lot of research before entering any of the stores. When I asked difficult questions at many of the location I quite often got made up and incorrect answers (quite disturbing)! At your location, and this is very much due to our work with Colby (but also Jeremy). We were always given factual information that aligned with the latest herpetology reading that I had looked through. On the rare occasion Colby didn't know he would ask another staff member or Jeremy, or even better say he didn't know and he would reach out to the owner Christian for more information. As a government sector worker I can't commend Colby and the others at your shop enough for 1) knowing their reptiles, habitats, and feed; but also 2) knowing when to admit they didn't know (what a great and honest skill for a business to have). I'd also like to add that even though I knew we would be spending a lot of money, we have never been pushed into any decision or even towards any pet that we were not interested in, or more appropriately no pet that would not be right for our family. As I mention "family", we have felt like family at this store. Which is one of their strongest selling points. We always feel wanted in your store, never a burden, and I see that not in just the way you treat my family, but the many other families that have come in as well. My daughters are well taken care of, Colby understand the retiles and what would work for them and what will not. He understands that this project of mine is for the love of reptiles, but also for the love of our family and having a hobby we can do together. I am probably hammering this topic too much, but my greatest thank you would be to the Predator Reptile family that we have made. I would also like to mention that your reptiles and the handling you put them through is very well done. I understand that no reptile store can handle the animals at the level they need to be as docile as shoppers would like (that is on us), but your pets are well cared for. As far as prices there were lower deals at other stores on some, but they were very much "made to order" pets that came right from a warehouse (or at least it seemed) with less staff handling. That is probably fine for some pet owners, but as a family project we love the extra knowledge of each pet at your store and that we genuinely believe Colby feels responsible for any pets that he sends us home with to be good for our daughters. We now have a northern blue tongued skink, bearded dragon, ornate uromastyx, two rare ball python morphs, an amazing corn snake, a leopard gecko, with more pets on the way. All of our pets are thriving, they are all healthy and active, and they can all be handled safely by our children with adult supervision. First time shopping for a snake for my daughter and we had lots of questions. Nick, and the rest of the staff, is extremely knowledgeable and spend the time to make us feel comfortable in our purchase. Self proclaimed "reptile nerds" is completely accurate and it shows through the passion they demonstrated explaining every detail of species of snake we looked at. I wasn't planning on buying that day but the staff was so great we made up our minds. My daughter is extremely happy and I'm very confident we have been set up for success with our purchase. Hands down best reptile store I have shopped at. The owner is typically in the store and is very knowledgeable in his trade. I purchased the full setup for an Aru Green Tree Python. After pricing and researching for months I found Predators to be priced as, if not better, than online pricing without the cost of shipping. Being a small shop in comparison to a Petco or Petsmart his prices were better and the customer service and knowledge well surpassed anything you would expect. Thanks again for the awesome experience and one hell of a badass setup. Predators is as legit as it gets. Also, in response to some of these poor reviews on here... Stupid is as stupid does. Common sense is somewhat hard to come by these days so don't blame a store for your mistakes its sad enough your pets have to suffer your insolence. Side note...Chihuahuas are stupid and if cost effective, would rather feed that to a snake than a bunny rabbit. read more

Pretty cool place that has a lot of exotic animals that other places don't carry. Really good on prices for feeders such as mice, crickets, mealworms, list goes on. The animals prices are decent as well, not bad at all. I've never bought a reptile from here but have been with friends who have purchased from this store and their animals are doing great! I am currently on the waiting list for a red ackie monitor! I'm more of an arachnid and creepy crawly type of exotic animal owner. This place is extremely GREAT for tarantulas/centipedes but for scorpions it's pretty minuscule for options which I've noticed at every exotic pet store in AZ sadly. read more

TLDR; My partner and I were sold a sick snake at full price and weren't offered any sort of help or compensation. He was thoroughly treated for the mites he had and for reasons beyond my comprehension he died today seemingly mite free. I am a beginner to reptile parenting and had been visiting predator regularly for supplies and advice when my partner and I adopted our second snake, a columbian boa. Even though I am new to being a snake parent, I did plenty of research but was not made aware of snake mites and their dangers until our experience with predator and their infestation. While we were at predator checking out their snakes we noticed that one of the other boas had a visible snake mite infestation, and not being super experienced we let them know but I wasn't aware of how big of a deal that was. After noticing the mites they allowed us to handle a few other reptiles (which I now know we should NOT have been able to do) and we ended up adopting our boa suzuki. After bringing him home we did lots of research on mites and how dangerous they can be, and we diligently checked our new guy to make sure he was mite free. When we noticed he did have mites, we went back to predator to let them know and ask if there was anything they could do to help us. We were offered an apology, but considering we spent $200 on an infested snake and would have to spend quite some time treating him and nursing him back to health, it would have been cool of them to offer up some sort of compensation or more importantly some help with knowing how to treat him and take care of it. We treated him over the course of 6 or so weeks based on info online. we had just put his substrate back in, and he seemed to be a lot happier that he had his preferred habitat back. Unfortunately though, I was filling up his humidifier today and found that he had died at some point today. I know it's not entirely predator's fault that our snake died but after this experience and being left pretty much on our own with treating him I would not recommend shopping here read more

Really nice and knowledgeable store. Its the only place we go to for our hedgehogs food. They have well kept meal worms and other random insects that he just loves! They have a locally made hedgehog food that's so much healthier than the typical cat food that Google suggests. read more

I hate to write negative things, but my experience today warrants it. They're having their 20% off Memorial Day sale today and the line was of course very long. I finally get up to my spot, mention to my husband right next to me that the sale is why it's so busy (in front of the cashier), hold my toddler in one arm squirming away and getting my older kid to stay in line while they ring me up. Then they charge me and as I'm leaving I notice they didn't take the 20% off. I send my husband back in and the less than intelligent cashier says "you have to mention the ad when purchasing." So even though I said it was a sale day that wasn't enough I guess? So he says ok we'll return it all then. She flips her hair and says "ok." With a whole lot of attitude. Then he says and then we'll buy it all back with the sale price please. At this point she's all attitude and the line is crazy long. It takes two cashiers to figure out how to give me my refund. (A whole $14 for a lost customer.) I come in here regularly/frequently and purchase all my supplies here because I like the staff and how helpful they've been before. Even when prices are slightly higher I know I'm getting good service. I have to say after being treated this way by this lady I will not be back in. I would rather pay shipping every time from anywhere else. How embarrassing and cruel of her to a busy family. I'm sorry that a once good store is now off our list. read more

went to this reptile store to buy three rats for my friends snakes. Predators gave us these rats in paper bags and did not offer any type of box or better solution to transport the rodents. They of course broke out of the thin paperbags and into my car. All three rats died inhumane deaths inside of my car. It took five days to get all three dead rats out of my car. They borrowed deep under the carpets and into the dash. I had to tear apart a car I haven't even owned for a year yet. When I called predators for advice or help they offered no sympathy or understanding and said we can buy boxes next time... something we weren't ever offered in the first place ‍‍‍ now my car may forever smell like rotten dead rats. We love Predator's! We have been stopping in since our son was little because he liked looking around. He saved up money a few months ago to buy a bearded dragon. We did check out other reptile stores in Mesa and Phoenix to "comparison shop", but came back to Predator's for him to purchase his beardie because it was the cleanest looking shop, the animals looked well cared for and the staff had been so patient with answering all of our questions during our multiple visits before buying. They helped refer us to a great reptile vet and my son was reassured he has a healthy bearded dragon. They have continued to be a great resource ongoing for getting dubias/crickets/other supplies and answering any new questions. (Thanks especially to Tiffany! We have worked with her multiple times, including when getting Jupiter and returning later to find out Jupiter was a boy.) read more

I've purchased from this location; we actually rushed to get a crusted gecko and we love him. The experience was great and we left happy. However; there are chinchillas at this reptile shop, who are confined to extremely small cages and sharing the small space with other chinchillas. They have no toys, and only enough room to walk in a circle around the house they permanently stay in. The plastic houses they stay in are almost have no roof because they've been chewed up. Chinchillas teeth never stop growing and they have NOTHING TO CHEW ON BUT THE PLASTIC HOUSES. Hardly ANY hay which is their main food source. The sight was so sad and it honestly has kept me up at night. I've called multiple times and have gotten the same associate on the phone; who does not care about my concerns that I've voiced to them about the conditions that the chinchillas are in. My concerns are met with annoyance that I called about them. I was told to email the owner. I was told I couldn't bring in toys for the chinchillas to make their lives a little less miserable; even if the toys were new. I wanted to buy my two chinchillas a cage from this shop. With how specifically the chinchillas are kept; I will NOT be purchasing from this location. 4 chinchillas kept in a cage that isn't even big enough to house 1 of them is beyond sad. read more

They do not care about their reptiles. Straight up. They will sell you any feeder you want. Go buy crickets or mice here! But if you ask them about any set-up they have for their Lizards or snakes, you will be scoffed at. Laughed at. Their employees will say 'let's agree to disagree' ONLY GO HERE FOR FEEDERS. MICE, CRICKETS, ROACHES, ETC. I've been laughed at, ridiculed. I'm sorry if I know more than their employees. They need to learn how to take care of their chameleons. Every animal I've bought from here hasn't lived more than a month 3 of the four died from a disease/sickness. My fourth pet died after a month of owning it. The Staff tends to be annoyed when asking questions and carries a know it all attitude. Some of the animals look neglected and I am yet to see a staff member wash their hands after handling an animal. (Wonder why so many die from illness) read more

This is the go-to shop for everything reptile related. They have a huge selection of both animals and products. Their tank/enclosure selection is one of the most extensive that I've ever seen. Everything is very reasonably priced and you get a great deal when buying custom kits. They have a wide range of feeders too, both live and frozen. All of the animals here are healthy and well cared for. The staff are all very friendly and very knowledgeable. They go above and beyond to make sure you find what you need and tell you what kind of care everything requires. They are the number one reptile resource in the valley. read more

I just purchased my first ball python from this store! The staff here are very friendly and patient helping you pick a snake, and very open to answering even the most stupid newb questions. No one is trying to upsell you anything here or get you to make unnecessary purchases which is refreshing. The staff helped me pick a gorgeous and gentle snake that would be excellent for my beginner status. The main reason I purchased a snake here is the exceptional cleanliness and thought put into all the enclosures and the shop overall. Who knows, it might have changed since last time I went. But the guy at the desk was more than happy to show me his snake (not the one in his pants, perv.). My son is always asking to go here...everytime! He has no concept of places closing down for the day or the evening. Could care less for that matter. He was so ecstatic to find his African Giant Millipede here he bought with his own savings...and gladly did so. We also bought Leo, our Leopard Gecko, who since departed us, RIP. They keep the animals clean and healthy. The last time we went, there was a stench that I didn't care for. I hope it was just that day, coz that made me queasy. While the smell will not deter my little cutie pie from coming here with hubby, if the smell persist, I will be next door at Aquarium Arts. Hubby once wanted to get this exotic blue mantid, but decided to pass because of the $40 price tag. Oh, I thought the violin mantid was fascinating! If you have a future entomologist, this is the only place we have found in the valley that carry a variety of arthropods. This is a highly recommended place for your reptile needs too! read more

I can't believe that two of the best reptile stores in Arizona are only a couple miles apart. This store doesn't have the variety in lizards and tortoises that Arizona Reptile Center has, but they make up for it by selling a ton of different snake morphs. They have many different types of pythons, boas and colubrids. The most impressive animals we noticed on our last trip were the Caiman lizards. They are beautiful animals even though they are a little too expensive for me at $1500 each. The other animals were fairly priced and in good condition. read more

Love this place! Staff is super friendly and they always have what I need! I recently bought a leash for my iguana, but when I got home I realized it was too small. I took it back to exchange it and they did it with no issues! Yay! I also love how they really cater to being able to handle some of the animals- I got to hold a baby hedgehog! Sooo cute and now I want to definitely get one! Also, the last time I was in, the big iguana in the back of the store was out and about and it was awesome to see- I even got to hand feed him some greens! Disclaimer: I have not purchased from here. I was looking for a class pet for my husband, who is a teacher, possibly a gecko. The associate was really nice and informative. The cages were clean and the animals looked healthy. They breed their own feeder rats which is great for quality control and consistency which can be good for picky snakes and other herps. A really good shop overall I would purchase from here. The only reason we did not purchase is because my husband decided on fish for his classroom. read more

The customer service here is actually unbelievable, in the worst way. I traveled from out of town to look at a specific snake that I was told they had, which they ended up not having. An employee walked and stood right in front of us while we were looking at the reptiles to feed them, didn't say excuse me and wouldn't move for us to get by or out of her way. I asked another employee about a snake and he told me to ask someone else. I asked the next employee if they had the snake and he just said "no" and walked away. He didn't even bother to talk about it or see if he could do anything for me. This is the first time I've ever left a review in my life. It was a bad enough experience for me to download an app and say something. Their reptiles/animals are beautiful. I wish my experience had been more positive. read more

My 3 year old is obsessed with tarantulas so we were really excited to find a variety at this store after failing to find any at 2 others. The workers were very honest with what would be the best starter since I'm horrified of spiders and my son's only 3 (obviously to young to handle right now) Once the spider guy (long cool dreads, forgot name) helped us out more and picked the curly hair up I fell in love with her! Love going here! We pass by 5 reptile shops to on our way to Predators, and don't mind it at all because it's our favorite. The staff is always so unbelievably helpful and knowledgeable, and are always making sure don't need help! Zack recognizes us every time we go, and is extremely friendly and shared all his knowledge with us! Their selection of cork bark, enclosures, and decor is huge!! Be careful when buying frozen mice from this store. I went and bought 4 frozen "hopper" mice and all I can say is make sure to check the bag because there was a pinky mouse mixed in. Also when I opened the bag they put the "sticker" or label on the inside of the bag which is super dumb because it froze to the mice and I had to rip off little pieces of the sticker off of them... like I didn't even want to feed my snake that.... you are a reptile store.... take pride in the food you are providing your costumers beloved reptiles..... it was just super annoying.. just put the sticker on the outside of the bag.... isn't it contaminating the mice anyways when it's on the inside????‍ read more

UPDATED: Christian is amazing. He has taken time on multiple occasions to explain things and make sure I'm getting the right products. They have an amazing staff. Each one has been knowledgeable and friendly. Large selection of feeders. This place is very clean, had the most room to move around of all the shops I have visited so far. Very large selections of animals. It's farther away from me but I don't mind the drive to get the best service and most knowledgeable staff. read more
