This place is horrible! The food is disgusting! Deffintly DONT ask for the salad pizza. DONT ask for two sauces for your calamari! DONT ask for gluten free pasta! And if you want EGGPLANT parmesan you will get CHICKEN parmesan! Then if you talk to them about it they just say "mistakes happen". I never in my life ordered 50$ worth of food and LITTERLY every single thing was wrong! They then promised me a refund I never got it. I called back they said a couple days. Still never got it. It has been a month now. I'm not gonna beg for 50 bucks. It's sad a restaurant like that had to lie and can't afford to give me my money back. Don't expect your order to be right with take out! We have been going here for years - the food is consistently good, the service is always attentive. Only drawback is that there is usually a line to get in on the weekends - which is usually the case if a restaurant is good, right? So I suggest you make a reservation to avoid the wait. In town from NC and made sure to eat as much New Jersey pizza I could! I called last night at 10:05 praying they would deliver a pie to us since they close at 10:30 and they did! The delivery guy was beyond nice and dropped it off at the bar we were at and even offered us a ride to the hotel since our Uber hadn't arrived yet. On top of great customer service the pie was GREAT! Got a large cheese and it was only 14.75. If ever in this town again I will be ordering again! Positano is such a great restaurant in Wayne NJ for good food at a great price. The owner is friendly to each and every guest that walks through the door. Its nice to see a great family run restaurant. No reservations necessary, and they are so helpful to accommodate. BYOB is always a plus when going for a quick bite to eat or to make a dinner date of the night. The service is also great. Our waiter remembers everything!! He knows what we have ordered in the past and reminds us of the meals we loved and might have forgot. Its also nice when a waiter doesn't hound your table. They give you space to enjoy, but are always there if you need something. Have gotten catered food for a few parties we have hosted from Positano as well and this place never disappoints! I placed a large catering order with Positano for about 40 guests for my daughter's first birthday this past Saturday. The food arrived hot, fresh, and in a timely manner. Steve called me the morning of the party to confirm the food I ordered and assured me everything will arrive on time. Steve even threw in a tray of fresh and hot garlic knots. All the food was delicious, that was all we heard at the party. So many of our friends and family were asking us where did we order our food?! We told them Positano!! And the prices are very reasonable for the amount of food you receive. Lovely employees, very helpful and informative. I will most definitely be their customer for life. AUTHENTIC Italian. I am first generation American, Italian. My Father and Grandparents, came here on the boat from Italy. I was raised on THE BEST Italian food you can imagine. My Mama's meatballs are lodged in my memory, as perfection. They would melt in my mouth with the perfect blend of herbs, bread and meat. It was next to impossible to find a meatball that came close to Mama's, after she died. I missed her food so much, and worried I would never taste REAL ITALIAN food again. For so long I avoided eating at Italian restaurants, because the food was nothing compared to the food I was raised on. I am so grateful that five years ago, I found Positano's. Their meatballs are almost exactly the same as my Mama's. Truly delicious. All of their food.. lasagna to pizza, you can taste that heart went into this food. I love this place. I finally tried Positano's and was hugely disappointed. I ordered the open faced Garlicky Chicken Parm sandwich. The chicken was literally about 1/4 " thick and tough as could be. My friend ordered a salad which she enjoyed. The waiter was very good. It was hard for me to see since I was facing the front window which didn't have blinds ( the side windows did though). The light was so harsh it made me want to put on my sunglasses. read more

Let's just say that their atmosphere is great, the service is superb, and the parking is convenient. However, if we were to judge them solely on food, I would say 1 star is generous. ABSOLUTELY NOTHING at this place is even above good, it is average food at best. In fact, I believe anyone can cook a better meal at home. Positano is lucky that they have a HUGE group of loyal customers that have never experienced great dining. If I were to recommend anything, I wouldn't. We ordered food to be catered to St. Joseph's hospital in Paterson. We ordered sandwiches, Caesar salad and penne with vodka sauce. All of the food was amazing and it all arrived directly on time and all of the hot food was the perfect temperature. Everybody in the department loved the food and asked for the restaurant name so that they could order from there for themselves. Something is definitely up and it is not good. I have been going to this place for years since it is near my Fathers home. I occasionally go there with him and my kids for a slice and maybe a sandwich. Its mediocre food, but you know what they say about pizza, "When its good, its good, and when its bad, its pretty good" That was always my feeling about this place. Well, let me tell you what happened today. I called in an order for a pie and a calzone to bring to my Pop's house while visiting for lunch. I called at 12:30 and when I placed my order the young lady said 20 minutes. Well, 20 minutes later, I roll into the lot and walk in. I knew something was off. The tables were empty, there were no slice pies in the counter display, and everyone had a weird look on their face. I told the girl behind the counter that I called in an order and she quickly took my money and did not say a word. 10 minutes went by, now 30 minutes after my call and nothing, not a peep. So I asked if my order was almost ready. She said it was in the oven. I watched all four oven doors open and didn't see one calzone in any of them. So 5 minutes later I asked her to check. She said my pizza was almost done but there was no calzone. I saw 4 or 5 guys behind the counter making small talk (in spanish), but no one was making pizzas or my calzone. She then came up to me and said there was a problem with the ovens and that she would deliver the pizza and calzone for free in a few minutes. My wife and kids were in the car, so I trusted her. 30 minutes went by and no delivery. May Father's place is 5 minutes away. So I called and she said the driver was on his way. Another 30 minutes went buy, the girl didn't even have the guts to answer the phone. Some guy answered and after I explained the whole story, told me the pizza man didn't show up. I said, "I thought you were having a problem with the oven?" He said, "whatever" and started yelling. Then he became the Soup Nazi and said "Call the driver and have him come back, this guy cant have my calzone" I swear on my kids I am not making this stuff up. Good thing I paid by credit card, because quite frankly, I don't know what I will run into if I set foot in that dump again to get my money back. I am going to call the health department tomorrow to see if I can request an inspection. Anyplace that runs the front end of their business that bad, must have problems you can't see. I think I owe it to the people of Wayne to get to the bottom of this. There are too many places to eat in NJ to give money to a place like this. I wish you a speedy farewell, Positano's. You have outlived your usefulness in Wayne. read more

Being in the hospitality industry for many years now, I've never seen an improperly ran restaurant like this one. After waiting 45 minutes to be seated, I don't feel it was proper to jump other customers ahead of us while we were waiting patiently and were told the wait time was only a few minutes. Besides the fact I heard the owner tell a customer "If you don't like it you can take it elsewhere". I don't care how good of food a restaurant puts out, with customer service like that eventually people will start taking there dining elsewhere! Best of luck Positanos!!! read more

Great place. I came in with a group of 24 and they were able to get our orders out impressively quick! We were on a bit of a time crunch, as we arrived later than planned, and they were incredibly accommodating for us. And on top of that, the food was delicious! Not adding much here to other reviews: place is cozy, food is very subpar if you have been lucky enough to have a good cook for a mother or if you frequent even mid-range Itailian places. They serve mediocre pizza-parlor Italian food but they slide by by offering an appealing seating section. Go with VERY low expectations and you won't be disappointed. My wife and I ate at this restaurant last night. We waited 10-15 mins for a waiter to ask if he could take our order and I said sure but how about you get us something to drink first. The food is pizzeria food it's ok. The service is HORRIBLE. This is a great family Italian restaurant with generous portions, served hot and reasonably priced. We ordered the mussels from the specials menu for appetizers and for entrees, rigatoni puttanesca and our regular fav, linguine with white clam sauce. Yummy! I absolutely LOVE this place. It is one of my favorite Italian restaurants. It is not only pizza and pasta, it has anywhere from soups and salads to seafood and burgers. The wait staff is always on point with the orders and usually rather quick when it comes to seating, ordering, and delivering the food to hungry customers.
