02/27/2026 We saw the ad for Viaggio's cure for the Winter Blues "Pre-Fixed" Menu and finally decided to head on over one day before it expired. We both ordered the same dishes... Mussels with a Vino bianco, herbs and filone toast for the appetizer and the Ricotta Cavatelli (alla mema) with broken meatballs and sausage sugo. Good grief the vino bianco/herb cream sauce on the mussels was incredible! Really! I could not get enough of it. I don't believe we've ever seen mussels on their menu, but man! These were phenomenal! The only complaint would be that there were not enough of the mussels. The ricotta cavatelli was also amazing... as are all of Viaggio's pasta dishes and sauces. Gelato stawberry/maple gelato was maybe the best gelato I've ever had. Not sure if they have this on their 'normal' menu, but if they do, I'm going to need some more. I've been a frequent visitor of Robbie's establishments from Osteria Crescendo to PastaRAMEN, so Viaggio was a must for me. It didn't disappoint. From the appetizers to the entrees and dessert, all stellar. The only miss here was the beginning phase of service - it took a bit longer than one would want or expect for front house to open our bottles of wine (BYO FTW!) but then failed to pour for us. But not a total back breaker here. The bread was a bit stale and not even drenching it in olive oil helped. Even though I live in town, this was my first time visiting Viaggio since they opened almost 10 years ago. The chef owns several other restaurants in Westwood, NJ. Restaurant week was what brought us in for a date night dinner. I started with the calamari fritti, which was excellent and my favorite dish by far. For my main dish, I had the linguini and clams. The linguini had a little spice to it, and our waiter mentioned it was the only pasta that wasn't made in-house. We also split an additional pasta dish, the paccheri, which was not part of the special menu. For dessert, I had gelato which was also very good. Service was attentive and very upscale. The ambiance is cozy yet elegant, making it a romantic spot that tends to get busy. The open kitchen is visible from the dining area, which adds a nice touch to the experience. It's BYOB and located in a strip mall, which is a bit unexpected given the upscale vibe. Prices were a bit on the higher side, but I knew that before visiting. The restaurant week menu offered decent value. Overall, I'd recommend Viaggio for a special night out or date night. read more

Decent but Underwhelming Experience at Viaggio My visit to Viaggio was overall average. Nothing went terribly wrong, but nothing stood out as exceptional either. We started with a few appetizers: - Charred Octopus - Cauliflower Fritti - Imported Puglia Burrata - Chef's Selection of Salumi For the main courses, we ordered: - Linguini - Herb Fazzoletti - Hanger Steak - Black Cod "Alle Vongole" The restaurant is BYOB, which is a plus if you want to bring your own wine. The ambiance was decent, but the music didn't quite match the vibe and felt a bit off. Unfortunately, several dishes missed the mark: The burrata was a letdown, especially because the strawberries served with it weren't fresh. The charred octopus portion was so small that the server suggested we order two just so each person could have a bite. It was flavorful, but I've had better versions elsewhere. The linguini was slightly overcooked and lacked texture. While others at the table enjoyed the herb fazzoletti, my hanger steak--though cooked to my requested temperature--was quite greasy, with oil and butter pooling in my mouth, and the accompanying asparagus didn't help. They were all too oily. Bread served before the meal was forgettable, and overall, portion sizes felt small for the price point. I'm not likely to return specifically for the food, but if I happen to be in the area and want a place to enjoy some wine and conversation, it might be worth considering. Here's the deal: located in a strip mall (T-Bowl Shopping Center for anyone from the area). Viaggio has an updated and exciting decor. They have seats at a high top section that provides an open view into the kitchen. Viaggio is a good spot for romantic table for 2 or a group of guests! The food rundown: the appetizers calamari was AMAZING! (Order 2 its that good). The seasonal burrata app was very good the size only allowed a table for 4 to get a bite each (so if you're with a group order more or something larger to share. The home made pasta share courses were amazing! The Bucatini & pappardelle were big hits! Main course has some unfortunate misses. Hanger steak amazing!! however, the salmon was overcooked and dry(the tomato and fennel helped compensate a bit) the Bronzino was also thin and unfortunately dry, which was disappointing considering the price point. The desserts spot on! The Gelato the Affogato was delicious and the salted chocolate chip cookie should be sold separately! Yummy!! The server was amazing! We always love going to Viaggio. I feel like it gets better each time, if that's possible. The food and the service are always great. This time, we started with the calamari with lemon butter sauce and it was AMAZING! The best calamari my husband and I have ever had! For our entrees, I had the Pappardelle with sweet sausage sugo (basically a bolognese) and it was incredible. The pasta was perfect and the sugo was great. My husband had the Hanger steak and loved every bite. We also got the potato fritti panzanella and that was also fantastic. Literally every bite we had was perfect! Viaggio - Wayne, NJ Viaggio is clearly aiming for high-end NYC-style Italian dining--but unfortunately, it misses the mark in all the wrong places. I came with a party of six, and we were each given one piece of bread. No butter, just a small dish of olive oil with a lemon twist. For a restaurant charging $22 for a kid's bowl of plain spaghetti (with no sauce), you'd think bread wouldn't be rationed like gold. Spoiler: the bread wasn't even good. I had the short rib-stuffed pasta--$32 for seven small pieces. Tasted freshly made, yes, but the portion was laughably small. Others in the group had linguini with garlic and clam sauce--tasty, but again, not nearly enough. Not even a little extra bread to mop up the sauce. The place tries so hard to be a fine-dining spot, but in the end, it's just overpriced and underwhelming. The menu is as limited as the portions, and the dessert selection felt like an afterthought. The interior is clean, and the waitress/hostess was polite and professional--that's where the compliments end. This place wants to be upscale Manhattan. But it's Wayne, NJ. Epic fail. read more

After a wonderful dinner on Saturday night, I am puzzled as to what took me so long to get to this place. It's not new, but is a 30 minute drive for me... so glad we ventured to this strip mall spot. Chef Robbie Felice has really become quite a celebrity chef of late, a la Pasta Ramen, pop ups in other cities... Osteria crescendo etc. But this spot is his first restaurant and it could be his best! The vibe is rustic elegance and the food is truly delicious. The menu is chock full of wonderful options. Our server recommended an antipasti, a primi pasta and second per person. Instead we got a little creative in our ordering. I started with the roasted beets insalata and others had the prosciutto crostini, the octopus and the Garganelli pork ragu pasta special to share. My husband and I then tried another pasta-the tagliolini special with Ramps, herbs and breadcrumbs. Yummy. I opted to split the Amish chicken which is the signature dish. This entree is the only one without a side so we chose the broccolini. My sister had the arugula salad and then she and her husband shared the tagliolini and chicken and polenta. Overall, we were all able to sample a lot of dishes. We had no room for dessert which was sad because the selections sounded scrumptious. There was not a single miss food wise. The service is wonderful. What was so stinking was that there was not a single server or staff person in the open kitchen that appeared to be older than 30. (With the exception of the manager who came around several times to ensure a quality experience) This places oozes youth in the best way. It really delivers a dining experience and I would drive 30 minutes for such solid Italian food. Pasta is the star here so make sure you're ready to indulge. It's BYO so that's great if you're into your own wine. The only drawback was the acoustics. The place is so loud and they blast the music which I found unnecessary and quite irritating as I tried to converse across the table. I live closer to Pasta Ramen but this place won my heart. It's been about 3 months since I dined there, so I'll stick to what I remember from the dinner. The service was great and the dining room has a nice ambience. It's good for dates and family dining too. The dishes were interesting and creative, not your usual type of Italian dishes. They seem more like dishes you'd get from NYC restaurants. However, a few misses for me are the temperature of the food and the pasta being undercooked. I don't know if the food sat out for awhile but none of the dishes came out hot. The pasta also didn't have the chewy texture. It needed about 2 more minutes of cooking time IMHO. The flavor is great, but these executional misses didn't make us want to book another dinner anytime soon. read more

Mediocre and overpriced Italian food. There is not a great selection of pastas. The mushroom tagliatelle was meh and the butternut squash pasta was way too sweet. Tasted like they added maple syrup. Dishes cost more than NYC prices! The charcuterie board was $60, and it only had two types of cheese. It included throwaway items like peanuts and was served with stale bread. The focaccia was probably the worst. Instead of serving a good piece of flavorful bread, they presented the same stale bread they served at the beginning but drenched in a strange cream sauce. This place never fails with their flavor and seasonal menus. I managed to make the reservation same day for a Saturday night seating at 8:30. The place was packed when we got there - although there was a mix-up at the front because they seated another couple under our reservation - but it was quickly resolved. We brought a bottle of red with us which was opened at the table. We started with the calamari fritti (as always!), burrata and the prosciutto. The prosciutto is house-made and was aged for 3 years. It was on the salty side but paired well with olive oil, fresh basic and sweet cherry tomatoes. The burrata was incredible, paired with butternut squash, balsamic glaze and shaved carrot. For mains, we both chose the specials - short rib with risotto for my husband and waygu hangers steak for me. The steak was cooked to perfection at medium-rare and the salsa verde was well-balanced and complimented the charred brussel sprouts. For dessert, we got pineapple crostatas with a side of cherry and espresso gelato. I was super excited to try Viaggio as I had heard great things but was not impressed. When we arrived for our reservation on a Friday night it was packed, and we still had to wait almost 20 minutes to get seated. The place was loud and there was a loud table behind us cursing and acting out and no one said anything. My group of three could barely hear each other. We started with an arugula salad, Focaccia bread special and charred octopus. The octopus was too charred. I could not taste anything but chard. The arugula salad was just arugula, nothing else and it taste like they had poured too much salt on it. The bread though was delicious and the highlight of the night. For the entree we had the Branzino, Lancaster Amish chicken and Clam pasta. The Branzino was bland, the pasta was good. The chicken was cooked to perfection and flavorful. For dessert we had the apple pie and it was decent. Served a bit cold but taste good. read more

Honestly, this place is a triumph, and all of the restaurants are fantastic that rob felice Has a hand in, but this one was extra special because I was dying to try the pasta! My server, Nicole was attentive and friendly. She informed me of the specials, and I decided to start out with the chart for the report which has House cured meats, absolutely delicious outside the homemade focaccia with straticelli, and the calamari wow I could've eaten those appetizers all day! For my entrée, I had to two pastas one with duck Ragu, and one that was a secret prosciutto pasta, menu item! I literally ate the entire plate. Anything with prosciutto definitely has my heart. I even asked for a side of cheese just to give it an extra cheesy kick for myself, so good. For dessert I had a deconstructed, blueberry crumb cake, literally also ate that entire plate! We are local and have been on the fence about coming here for sometime. Our friends wanted to try so we gave it a shot. I have been recommended to come here by a few people. That being said this could be the most overrated restaurant I've been to in years. Our server Allison was extremely nice and did the take time to explain the menu and specials. The appetizers were ok. However my Branzino entree was colder than luke warm. Not just the fish the entire dish and my spouses Pork Loin was luke warm as was others in our parties entrees. I wanna start by saying, I have been coming to Viaggio for at least 10 years. My go to dish is the branzino. Whenever I order it out, I always say to myself how it doesn't come close to Viaggio's. Well tonight, my husband wanted to surprise me with an at home date night in honor of Mother's Day tomorrow (we have two young boys and it was A DAY).. he went with my go to dish, the branzino and long and behold, they changed how it was made. No wax paper, capers. Ugh why would you change an AMAZING dish!!! The disappointment was REAL. Please Viaggio bring this dish back. We were surprised the reservations were tough to snag as a decent number of tables remained empty while we were there. The 4 stars for this place are completely driven by the food. The ambiance leaves quite a bit to be desired. It's just not the warm, inviting space that would encourage you to stay, drink, eat, and laugh with friends etc. To start we had the Calamari Fritti and the Burrata, both of which were delicious and plated beautifully. Been to the old puppy store next door many times and never noticed this place. We first heard of it when we went to Pasta Ramen when it was still a pop-up event. Finally had a chance to visit, and our bottom line is that every dish we had, including dessert, was very good. it's been a long time and many many restaurants since we can say that. The charcuterie platter was amazing, everything on it. The apps were very strong and our entrees were just right. Dessert was also very good. Forgot it was a BYOB, otherwise would have definitely brought some good wine; the food was calling for it. As we parked, we noted that it's in a strip mall, which doesn't usually lead to good results for us. We were so pleasantly disappointed in that. Very busy, but didn't seem overly loud. We saw many people stopping at tables and chatting as it is clearly a popular local place. Our server looked like a Senior in High School, but he was outstanding.
