Wayne Ale House & Pizza 611 Ratzer Rd. Wayne, NJ 07470 Super Size Me Slice Ironically, the back entrance looks like the front of the restaurant while the front entrance looks like the back. The 24-inch super slice was cooked well done with homemade tomato sauce and Grande mozzarella cheese. I especially enjoyed the red sauce because it was sweet with a mild kick. Pizza bubbles were on the slice,  but I did not mind as they were minimal in size. The crust was thin and crispy with a slight char on the bottom. You won't be able to eat with your bare hands, unless you use a fork & knife or a complementary take home pizza cutter. Stopped in after a beach day feeling very hungry and thirsty! Our bartender Jason was very welcoming and gave us some recommendations for what we should eat. We decided on a pair of ice cold summer shandies, buffalo and garlic parm wings, and a pie. The wings were nice and crispy without being overly breaded. The star of the show was definitely the pie!! Came here for a family Christmas get together for the first time. We had a party of 11, however the only space available was downstairs where trivia night was taking place. Our family that ranged in age from 2-72 decided to play. We ordered a bunch of appetizers including wings, chicken strips and fries and garlic Parmesan wings. All were great and well cooked and plenty to share. The biggest surprise was the pizza! The pies were HUGE and so thin and crispy! No soggy drooping pizza here. Everyone i take here is surprised how great the pizza is. Super crispy and great. They also have a 2 foot diameter pizza! insane. So rare you get a pizza that big, boardwalk size slices and they are crispy and great. Bar area is cool, they have a back dining room that a bit more quiet and even have space downstairs too for private parties and stuff. Nice big parking lot. This is a solid spot that arguably has some of my favorite pizza. Service has always been fine, food comes out fast and bar tenders seem to be quick. read more

Wanted to love it but service at bar except for Nino was awful. Not attentive at all. Food was terrible, chicken dishes way over cooked, dry and bland and served on tiny dishes that if you cut anything it went flying off the tiny dish. Couldn't make any martini i asked for n settled for one on their cocktail list which was good. the club soda was flat and when informed the bartender he agreed Bartenders didn't know how to change channels to games requested. We recently visited a new pizza and bar spot that has taken over the space where the popular college bar, Green House, once stood. They now serve pizza, wings, and a variety of classic bar fare. The pizza had already caught my attention after getting a strong review from Dave Portnoy, and I can now confirm it's very good. The crust was perfectly crispy on the outside but still had a soft, flavorful doughiness inside. Our bartender, Sammy, was fantastic. Very personable, attentive, and full of great recommendations and stories, which made the experience even better. We also tried the Caesar salad. While it wasn't the best I've ever had (mostly due to too many croutons), it was impressively cold which is a big deal, since many places tend to serve it warm or at room temperature, which we're not fans of. The dressing was also spot-on. The chicken wings were solid as well They were flavorful and cooked nicely. Think bowling alley chicken fingers. Nice and crisp. Now, the real star of the night: the honey churros. Absolutely life changing. We would honestly come back just for them. We also took home a veggie burger and an order of cannolis (came with 4) for a family member, and he said both were excellent. Oh and the drinks were really good also. Had an apperol spritz a Paloma and a espresso martini. All of which Sammy made perfect. Overall, this place is a great addition to the area. We'll definitely be back! read more

Went twice while at a youth hockey tourney in Wayne. The tavern pie was a top 5 pizza I have had in my life. Wings were awesome. Staff was amazing both days. Showed up with 17 kids on a busy Saturday night and they had no problem seating us and feeding us. Wish it wasn't 4 hrs away. read more

I've attended this establishment a few times and can't say that I had an issue especially on a busy night but today we opted to sit in the lower level of restaurant and I felt the service was slower and then we were waiting for our pizza for over an hour. I usually have a drink and let things be but I asked the server explained it was sent to the wrong table and was apologized. While I understand that people make mistakes there are people that work all day and just want to eat relax and go. I understand mistakes are made but I didn't feel that it was rectified!!!!!! read more

Eh. Didn't have the giant pizza so may try that if we go back. Husband enjoyed chicken arugula sandwich. Not much at all for vegetarians. I was starving but wound up just choosing Brussels sprouts. They came out almost raw and not hot. I asked them to cook them a little more. After 30 minutes they hadn't come back out of the kitchen so we asked that they be taken off the bill, which they did. I am shocked to see all the good reviews!! We went yesterday at 3 pm place was pretty dead and service was still awful!! We had to ask for water about 5 times, our app. Came out after the dinners, didn't get ketchup, utensils, sauces- had to get a few things ourself. One person didn't get their food for 10 min after everyone and it was ice cold. Wings were the only thing good! My chicken tasted like a previous frozen patty and fries were burnt and limp. The chicken piece was also cut in half on the bun. Waiter disappeared! Worst meal in a long time. My sister ordered a salad- was skimpy chicken on one plate and some tomatoes and mozzarella on a different plate. Pretty small also. Also menus were dirty and table was sticky. read more

So today was strike two... First time we went there as a family the chicken fingers were so over cooked I think I chipped a tooth and the pizza was like tree bark with no cheese as it all baked off! Today my wife took the kids there for lunch during spring break. She walked in and the dining room is blocked off to sit. It says "section closed" guy on phone says nothing to her or the kids. She peeked downstairs and people are at the bar eating and drinking. She wasn't about to eat at the bar with two kids. Needless to say don't say "Open" and not have an open dining room... Needless to say she walked out, and not one word from the staff. Update in response to owners comments: Why would I want to come back you ask? I try to give small local businesses a chance and in this case a second chance. By the comments of the restaurant representative they are unwilling to accept they are anything but perfect. As for today sitting in the bar, as a mom with 2 kids under 13, they didn't feel comfortable sitting in the dark with two old men drinking beer at noon. Hope you take this a constructive not controversial and make some changes to assist staff and customers. read more

Excited to try this local spot. Found a table upstairs quickly on a Friday night, which was a plus. Loud dining room with loud music. Hard to talk but Ok, this is their vibe with music videos and sports on the TVs. Started out with hot wings which came out before our beers... wow that was fast and wings were well executed and tasty, spice was perfect and wings were on the crispy side which is good. Beers arrived shortly thereafter and the beer on tap (IPAs, we tried 2) were just ok. Burger was ok, fries were soggy as if frying oil wasn't hot enough. Personal sized White pizza had perfect crust but was flavorless. We noted they had large pies which look worth a try but maybe the white pizza was the wrong choice (???) although the table next to us left their pizza when they left. Service was quick and courteous.. silverware was dingy looking. Might for back for wings or a large pepperoni pie to give it one more chance (but might not). read more

I've been here a few times in the past year with my family and really enjoyed it, but today's visit was not a great experience. The first red flag was that the place was completely empty -- no customers in the dining or bar area, just the staff and what looked like an 8-year-old kid hanging around. I ordered the two-slice special, and honestly, it was inedible. The slices were clearly from yesterday -- dried out and tough. I also tried the chicken arugula sandwich, but the focaccia was so stale I couldn't even bite through it. When I complained, instead of making things right, they just handed me more bread... as if I was supposed to rebuild my own sandwich. Really disappointing, especially considering how much I enjoyed this spot before. I hope they can turn things around, because right now it feels like the quality and care have completely slipped. read more

The Wayne Ale House has a new upscale and modern look to their second floor bar area. Greeted by the hostesses and were able to get a seat at the bar right away. The service at the bar was great and any questions we had were answered. We ordered the pub fries, a tavern pizza, a pepperoni pizza with mikes hot honey. Everything was cooked through and the pizza had a nice crunch with the fresh ingredients that were on top. The portion sizes were fair for what you're getting and where you are getting it from. For an ale house they have a decent amount of beers on tap and the beers taste clean which is a plus. Drink prices are also fair. I would recommend this place to anyone who wants a quick bite to eat and or have good drinks with friends and family. read more

I ordered a pizza from Wayne Ale House through DoorDash, and when it arrived, a slice was already missing--it looks like the Door Dash driver, Arbel R., ate it. This is completely unacceptable and beyond unprofessional. The business transaction was between myself and Wayne Ale House, even though Wayne Ale House outsourced delivery. Wayne Ale House is responsible for ensuring the food reaches their client in proper condition--complete, safe, and intact. If their chosen delivery partner (DoorDash) fails to deliver on that, the accountability still reflects on Wayne Ale House. "Not our problem" is not a professional or acceptable customer service response. Regardless of who delivered it, I received a tampered product, and Wayne Ale House should care and help resolve it. After I opened the box, I called the pizzaria and spoke with Joe. He basically said not our problem. Wayne Ale House chose to partner with DoorDash. That makes Wayne Ale House responsible for vetting the reliability of that service. Wayne Ale House could file a complaint with DoorDash, or refund the order. Saying "too bad" damages your establishments credibility and customer trust. read more

We went to Wayne Ale House this past weekend, since it was owned by the same person that owns Little Falls Tavern, where we had previously gone. We understood (incorrectly) that they shared a Menu and was a larger facility with parking, which Little Falls did not have. When we viewed the Menu, we found it limited to Pizza and Sandwiches (Little Falls offered a steak and several chicken entrees). We ordered Pizza and Wings, along with Beer and Wine (not what we intended). Pizza was good, Wings were not, decent selection of Craft Beer. I guess I should have read the Menu online. I'm giving four stars since we had a really good time at Bar Bingo last week and everyone liked the pizza. I personally was disappointed to learn that they use chicken stock in the marinara sauce so I did not have any pizza. The food is all fried and typical bar food which I think is so dated and unhealthy, but people seem to enjoy it. I was really hoping for better, healthier options when it first opened. I don't eat meat, fish or dairy so I ended up bringing my own food which is fine by me. I am very picky and don't want to chance cross contamination. Enjoyed lunch here - very loud atmosphere as it's a sports bar & the TV was blasting away. Very simple menu - a little too simple. We liked the thai chili wings & the pizza's were good but took a very long time to come out. I wish there were more vegetarian options for the pizza like mushrooms & bell peppers. When we got the bill - we split it with another couple as there were 4 of us at the table. We got our checks with an automatic 20% tip added! WTH!
