Amazing amazing local pizzeria. I will keep this brief because not much needs to be said! This is the best Sicilian-style square pizza around. Don't even bother with their round pie. For the square pies they come in two sizes and two crust thicknesses. If you want the thick crust that is the default so you do not need to specify. If you want the thin crust make sure you say so when you call in the order! The thin is more like a bar pie with a thin crispy crust. Both are equally delicious so order based on your personal preference. You can get them in 16 slice or 24 slice sizes. The 24 slice pie will come in two pizza boxes so plan accordingly. Simply said, this is as good as it gets. I was literally reduced to tears of Joy. Flavor of pepperoni, sauce and cheese all incredible and under it all crust still had crisp. Also very light. My hubby has to have this pizza every time we are in NJ. Sun Ray has been in business a long time and the consistency is what makes this place stand out. They are strictly only to-go and delivery so don't expect to dine in. Ha ha, fine in your car! We have also had the mussels with marinara which is okay, prefer Bruno's. The anti pasta salad is very generous with the cold cuts and cheese. Definitely nice to add to your menu and feel healthy to offset all the carbs. We will continue coming here as long as they are in business. By the way, the pizza is delicious the next day at room temp. Pro-tip.. if you are staying in a hotel with a little kitchen and have a toaster, place a slice on top and the bottom will get nice and crunchy! Support the local businesses! My first visit to Sun Ray was about a dozen years ago, recommended by a coworker who knew it as the place only locals eat, and we'd have to sit outside on the stoop to eat it because there's nowhere to sit inside. Fast forward to 2019, I'm hanging out with my friend near home and we just headed east looking for the "Mob Wives" pizzeria in Totowa. Well, there's quite a story, because we got there and the exact address of the pizzeria is just a blank building. Each side of the building has a Pizza Nostra banner on it, and that's it. We looked all the way around the building, and nothing at all even looked like a pizzeria, let alone something open for business. We were freaking out, that this was all a front and we would get whacked for being too nosy. So we jetted from Totowa and planned on the fly. Sun Ray popped up in my Yelp. Hey, I know that place! Sun Ray, here we came. Well, check my photos. As people recommended in the reviews, we went with the square pie. We did a 24 slicer half and half, and that was pretty much the right amount for two people. They even drop each half in a separate box so that two people can have completely separate flavors. While I won't go out of my way to call this the best square pie I've ever had, it was very good, filling, and a pretty good value for what we each got. My go to pizza spot when I'm in Jersey prices are very good and the square pizzas are perfect. They must visit one in Jersey.

Best Sicilian pizza around town. I havent tried any of their other pizzas because when I like something I stick with it but I would be interested to try The Barstool Pizza now that El Presidente ranked Sun Rays now. To that point, we are regular orderers from here and last Friday after the review the wait time for delivery was an hour and half! First time here. Paid for my order When I was given my receipt there was a $2 up charge from the price quoted. When I asked why there was a discrepancy with was told there was an up charge for credit cards What? No mention of it when I handed him the card to pay. No sign at the register. Big Scan!! Had an interesting experience ordering here last night. I ordered a veggie gluten free pie and they didn't put any cheese on it! I mean when ordering from a pizza place, you would think it's implied that you expect to have cheese on your pizza! It was so strange. They should at least mention it when ordering! One of my coworkers turned me onto this spot for lunch one day and it's definitely one of the better pizza spots out of my normal ones in my area. I haven't tried anything but pizza here but solely based just on pizza this pie is a good one. Sicilian, I think they call it something else but regardless it's really good. The sauce, consistency, crust everything is good. I always get my pies well done so the cheese doesn't slide all over the box by the time you get back to eat it. I did try a pie once from here with pepperoni and sausage and wasn't blown away to be honest it was a little too greasy so suggest just straight up cheese pie. This is great pizza but in my humble opinion is not as good as Dominick's very very close but not perfection. I think that both places clearly show their love and culinary talents but I just like the crust a little better at Dominick's . Absolutely amazing food! They are so accommodating and can do pretty much anything. Their sandwiches are huge and tasty. They made me a special chicken cutlet, fresh mozzarella, and balsamic sandwich, and it was one of the best I've ever had. The prices seem too good to be true. The worst business I've ever dealt with. Ordered food earlier in the day for a party this evening. Food never showed up called the business and phone was busy for an hour. They must've run out of pizzeria names or something, as I have no idea why someone would name their pizzeria "Sun Ray'. Least of all the toughish Jersey guys who work here. Names aside, this small take out counter with no seating in a random location by some train tracks won an award of excellence from the Star Ledger NJ pizza patrol for having excellent sausage. That is all you really had to say to get me down to Northern NJ to try it. It was just me, so I just got a slice with sausage. While they do make round pies, the thing to get here is their sicilian slice, which is thinner than most but not quite thin enough to be a grandma slice. It is also the only thing they offer by the slice, so that narrows it down. I wasn't blown away with what I got but it was good. The crust was light and crisp with a little fluffiness to it, but nothing outstanding otherwise. The sauce was good, but this sicilian like many was dominated by too much cheese, The sausage was great but not quite as great as advertised; this may be a personal preference thing though. There was definitely enough large chunks of it though. All told this was a good slice of pizza I'd be happy to have now and again if it was nearby--more often if they skimped on the cheese--but not something that was really worth going out of my way for. It isn't as bad as some others are saying here on Yelp, though. read more
