Best 'Napolitan" style margarita pizza I've had in the US! The dough/crust is perfect, nice and light, not too much chart, sauce perfect San Marzano tomatoes, and of course the cheese is perfect too! From the taste, to the cheese, to the sauce, to the crust, this pizza is absolute perfection and the best I've ever had in NJ as a native New Yorker. They will sell you slices that they have offhand, but do not hesitate to order a whole fresh pie. I came in on a Thursday at 4:15pm for a quick bite to eat and I was astounded. Today my wife and I were driving by the restaurant after we had an appointment nearby and we remembered that this restaurant had the most delicious food! Luckily we brought cash! We had the exact same meal as last time although this time there were roasted peppers in the salad instead of tomatoes, and they were delicious also! I've been hearing about this place for a long time. A few people I trust with good food also recommended it. They were right! Thin, crispy crust, fresh tasting San Marzano tomato sauce and whole milk mozzarella. I watched the pizza maker finish it off with a sprinkle of parmesan and a drizzle of olive oil. On the small side. I could definitely eat one by myself! But no worries, I ordered three! Two pepperoni and the Popeye pizza. Ricotta, spinach, roasted garlic, crumbled chorizo and San Marzano tomatoes. Both were over the top delicious! I plan on eventually trying them all! No delivery, cash only. There are two tables for four so we sat and had ours straight out of the oven! Brought the other two home. The owner was very nice and takes pride in his pizza. Since I'm always on the lookout for new pizzerias, I decided to stop in at Double Zero for lunch today. This place is a little different. There are no shelves with assorted varieties of pies on display. They make personal pies and have a wide variety of sandwiches and hot food. Fortunately, they will serve a plain slice which I had today. The slice was delicious! As I was paying, however, the woman at the counter showed me a sandwich in the oven. Wow! That's the star of this show. Next time I come back (and it won't be long) I'm getting one of those! The owners of this restaurant were extremely friendly and appreciative of the business. Great pizza! Easily among the best in New Jersey and definitely worth traveling to for those who do not live in the area. You can tell the owner cares about the food he serves and the Readers Choice Award in 2021 for Morris and Essex Counties is well deserved. Quality ingredients, starting with double zero flour (thus the name of the place) that makes for a chewy crust. High quality sauce and cheese. Fresh mushrooms, for those who like that topping. Cooked in a wood burning oven that reaches 800 or 900 degrees. Highly recommend this place. A few notes: They make a traditional Neapolitan pizza with homemade mozzarella, but I prefer the shredded mozzarella as in the attached photo. So, not a place to go for a romantic dinner... here it's all about the food and the people (an amazing friendly staff... our waitress, Angela was fantastic... and Mike, the owner/chef, is genuine and into pleasing his guests any way he can... he came to the table to visit). If this place was in my area, I'd eat here once a week... it's that good. Pizza is king here... fantastic. But don't overlook the rest of the menu. The simple house salad was not that simple... check out my photo... loves the amazing heirloom tomatoes... so fresh. The other dishes we had... Meatballs, the Pasta w/ Pistachio Pesto, and the Chicken Cacciatore... all excellent. The start you off with freshly baked bread made from their pizza dough... hot and very good. Our Pepperoni and Onion Pizza was superb... perfectly cooked! Any pizza lover will be happy here. The fact that it's BYOB is the icing on the cake... so great to be able to take a bottle from your cellar and enjoy this great chow. Most places in this price point will give you basic wine glasses. Not here. Consistent with their excellent commitment to pleasing their guests, they provide really nice glasses... I love that! We figured we'd cap off this great evening with a pumpin tartufo ice cream to share. I loved the consistency of it... really good and a perfect way to end a fabulous meal. One note of caution... Wound up ordering from here when our usual closer place and our backup were closed, and we were so glad we did. We ordered a porcini pizza and a chicken parmigiana dinner to go. Food was ready as scheduled (though they didn't look busy since it was a Tuesday night), but I think the pizza was ready long before the chicken, as it wasn't quite hot by the time I got home (only 10 minutes away). Pizza was excellent. Tender, neapolitan style thin crust with a conservative application of cheese and sauce. The mushrooms were delicious and looked like real mushrooms - not watery canned mushroom shapes. The chicken parm blew us away. Basically two whole chicken breasts fried to juicy perfection. I've never had a chicken breast this thick (it was not thin and pounded out) taste so good. We'll be back for sure. read more

First time trying out Double Zero in Fairfield. Neopolitan is typically not my favorite, but the pizza here is amazing. Crust is delicious with a great chew to it and the ingredients are all fantastic. We had the Pinocchio, the Mom's and the Farmer pies. Also had the Eggplant parm dinner and that was good as well. We have the local pizza place, the new "haute cuisine" places and of course the nationwide chains of dangerous delivery pizza places serving what some consider pizza. Tonight I decided to try Double 0 for the first time and ordered the farmers pizza with a side of meatballs. The pizza is as good as the other reviews said. Just a bit chewy and a hint of the wood fire oven. The sauce was tasty and did not overpower the other toppings. The meatballs had a great texture and flavor. Finally, the meatballs came with a small loaf of their homemade bread. OMG, I can't wait to order a meatball parm sandwich with that bread and those meatballs. I know I said finally before but really, finally, the owners could not have been more welcoming and friendly. It's nice to support nice folks with a good product . read more

We stopped into Double Zero while in town on a short trip. It was a Saturday night and not too busy since they only allow eating in for pizza right now, but you can order the full menu if you do takeout. I get it, we are talking about a mom and pop shop that aren't properly staffed to do full service, so we got our order to go. We ordered the chicken parm dinner, a four cheese pizza, and meatballs. Overall, we were quite pleased with everything. The chicken parm was a great balance of lightly breaded chicken and the portions were huge. It was an easy item to split given the size, as it would have been too much for just me. The meatballs were equally awesome, with the proper amount of firmness and great taste. The sauces on both were solid, so I had no complaints. I was with my daughter and she isn't one to normally dig something like chicken parm, but she absolutely loved it from here. That made me quite happy! While I wouldn't normally ordered a 4 cheese pizza (which doesn't have tomato sauce), I think this one was pretty good. While not my favorite, my daughter loved it and all the other items on the menu. While we waited for our order, a regular had popped in and they had a fun conversation with the owners on what all was going on. Apparently they seem to order every Saturday night. After trying the food, I can completely understand why you may choose to just order from Double Zero instead of cooking on your own. Double Zero gets zero complaints from me and 5 stars for great food and great service. Been wanting to try this place for a while now and finally got to go this past weekend. Had a little trouble finding it because the location is a bit odd and it's very easy to miss the entrance. Despite that, it's a cute spot once you get inside, but very unassuming from the outside. In terms of food, it's pretty standard wood-fired pizza. I can't say I was particularly impressed by any of the offerings. Pizza is good but for $16 for a personal pie, I would expect some more innovative flavors and choices. The owner knows his craft. He is a true artist. He and his wife are super nice.. It was a phone order after I justed landed in Newark. I got a bit lost. He called me and was worried that I had not arrived yet and that the pizza wouldn't be good cuz' it had cooled.. When I finally arrived, he was standing outside with the box of pizza...
