I didn't do a ton of recon so maybe there was a more obvious/modern method to ordering, but from what I could tell, this place was pretty old school and I just picked up the phone and called over - honestly can't remember the last time I did that, but it brought a nice whiff of nostalgia for me after years of ordering on apps. Didn't realize that Tony D's is literally right around the corner from my BFF Cloverleaf, so the location is pretty convenient if you're in the area. The parking in Caldwell can be pretty annoying, and even though I'm sure I could have rolled the dice I paid a little less than a dollar to park up the street further into a residential neighborhood. Given that Tony D's is exclusively delivery/pickup joint, I think they should pay for the spots right in front as a courtesy to their customers coming in and out; maybe they do and I missed it but if not... Anyway. The guy behind the counter was VERY nice/friendly, and even though I was a few minutes early based on the estimated ETA off my phone call, the pizza literally had just come out of the oven and was ready to rock. From that vantage point, top-notch service. The specific pie that seemed to be their go-to was the Drunken Grandma, which is usually one of my favorites (vodka sauce on pizza should be much more prevalent in my opinion) but I wasn't crazy about the chunks of tomato on it. In hindsight, would have been easy to pick off or even to request that they not be included to begin with, so that would be my recommendation based on this experience. I opted for a square plain pie, especially since I knew that a few young pups would likely be sampling the wares; seemed like an overall safe bet. Optics-wise, I thought it looked very good, and I don't regret going square here. The crust for me was probably the best part, and I made sure to strategically grab all of the corner pieces once we started eating. Nice crisp to it for sure. The overall taste of the pie just wasn't my thing. I wasn't crazy about the sauce (maybe another argument for the vodka sauce, right?) and the cheese was just okay. Tasted to me more like generic by the slice pizza, which isn't my preference. My top-tier chum liked it more than I did, so definitely could just be an issue with palate preference here but this might have suffered from inflated expectations. I'd give them another shot if a similar circumstance presented itself, but I'd go with the pie it's known for - there's a reason the Drunken Grandma is front and center in almost every review. I do wanna point out that we have been to many places that offer gluten-free options and this is the first one I've been to that does charge you extra to make a gluten-free. In terms of price, it is very similar to the other places in Montclair but they do provide very good service and the ambience both outside and inside is very nice.

NO SOUP FOR YOU! Was looking forward to the food; didn't get a chance to try it. The server was very nice and welcoming. After looking at the lunch time menu, I noticed a fried shrimp sandwich and wondered if I could have it made parmesan style. Three or four other sandwiches on the menu were parmesan. I was told most definitely not. The owner/cook insisted it was "not on the menu". He was actually quite rude. If it cost extra, I would had paid it, no problem. What's the big deal? Slap a slice of mozzarella and splash some sauce over the shrimp, toast and serve. Again, there are other parm sandwiches on the menu. I then opted for the chicken parm. The cook/owner's attitude was nasty and argumentative. Why? We were in a good mood and pleasant My lady friend then looked to order a side of meatballs with gravy. She was then also told she could not have it. Again cook McNasty said "it was not on the menu." She approached the counter to ask if she could simply have a meatball sandwich without the bread. He growled back another "no" because it was "not on the menu". He then asked her why she wanted it that way and continued to argue. At this point I put on my jacket and left the ass#$le to stew in his own juice. No wonder that we were the only table there at lunch time! (1230 pm). The dump won't be there very long! I left the server a 3.00 tip for a glass of water. We left and had a nice lunch at the Montville Diner. read more

I can't say enough good things about this restaurant! It's a little hard to find - tucked back from the road a bit, but it is absolutely worth the trip. Spectacular pizza (we ordered the Porcini pie and The Farmer - both outstanding with respect to the quality of the ingredients and the perfectly cooked crust), and the meatball appetizer was a standout. We had plenty of everything to take home, and the bill was more than reasonable. Service was also great - nice and homey and not overly crowded, even on a Saturday night. And can we talk about the pizza dough/bread and spicy olives that come out as a complementary appetizer before the meal? Unbelievably tasty, and the quality of the olive oil is superior. Wow! Definitely Impressed.. by far the Best Naples Wood Fired Pizza around. Cozy atmosphere, friendly service & staff. Everything from the ambiance to the food itself made eating here very enjoyable. It's BYOB and there is a liquor store literally right next door. A lot of the pizzas, salads, pastas and dinners here looked appetizing. It was deft a hard choice. We ordered the Gem salad and the Panzerotto for appetizers. Delicious! They also put some homemade warm bread with olive oil on the table, which is always appreciated. I took a client to Double Zero Pizza a month ago. The lady who served us was very pleasant. The only problem which we had was there was a bald headed guy in the kitchen that really had a problem with his abusive word towards his employees. You were able to hear this guy in the dining room. The whole time we were there he was yelling at his employees. It was not a pleasant lunch meeting. As far as the food with the experience we had with this Guy mouth, We just wanted to eat and get the hell out of the place! This Bald head guy truly need to stop his abusive word and actions. I did not know until I went to write this review that they recently got a monster score from Portnoy, it was fully earned. Friendly pizza joint vibe with great pizza (and chicken parm) made with care and great service. We tried the New Haven style and a Vodka Parm. Being from the New Haven area I had a high bar they need to hit and they did. Perfect thin crispy crust with a touch of char and the right ratio of mozzarella to a delicious sauce with some salty parm to cut the sweet brightness of the tomato sauce. Bonus, it was even cut New Haven style with imperfect small to medium slice size. I don't know if they adjusted after Portnoy made his comment about the slicing style, but well done! Now for the chicky chicky parm parm.... Exceptional - What a huge surprise, delicious crispy thin chicken cutlets topped with delicious creamy vodka sauce and melted mozzarella. And they offer them in 4 different styles. Will go back very soon to try the others. If I had notes - slightly less mozz to checked ration and get a little more brown in the cheese. For a chicken parm it had such a light and flavorful feel. Often times too much sauce and gooey cheese overwhelm the chicken and at Three Proof the perfect chicken stands front and center and is well complimented by sauce and cheese.
