Great Food - Staff super Friendly - Meatballs always hit the spot!!! Highly recommended

I'm honestly really disappointed because I had a completely different experience ordering from Emilio's Wood Fire Pizza this time compared to my first order on May 9th. The first margherita pizza I ordered was delicious and looked exactly like the photos they advertise online -- fluffy wood-fired crust, fresh mozzarella, fresh basil, and overall high quality. That positive experience is the reason I ordered again. Tonight, however, I opened the box and received what looked more like a thin-crust cheese pizza with tiny pieces of what appeared to be spinach scattered on top instead of fresh basil. The crust was thin and flat, not the thick, airy wood-fired dough that is advertised on their website and delivery platforms. The fresh mozzarella was also replaced with grated cheese, which completely changed the pizza. When I called the restaurant, I was told they do "Tavern Thursdays," where the margherita pizza is made differently -- thin crust, grated cheese, and basil sprinkled on instead of the traditional version. My issue is not necessarily that they offer a different style on Thursdays -- it's that this was NOT clearly advertised anywhere on the website or ordering platform where I placed my order. I was instead told that the information is posted on Instagram. That is unacceptable. Customers should not have to check a restaurant's social media to find out that the item they're ordering is completely different from what is being advertised on the actual ordering platform. If the pizza is going to be fundamentally changed one day a week, that should be clearly stated on the website, menu, and delivery apps before checkout. Otherwise, it feels misleading and false advertising. The pizza I received looked nothing like the photos used to advertise the margherita pizza, and not at all like the one I previously received. Really disappointing experience, especially after such a great first order. read more

Since I moved back to Jersey I've been on the lookout for a great brick oven Neapolitan style pizza restaurant and I am happy to say I think I found it at Emilio's! I decided to dine in (but at the last minute had to change it to go) and ordered my go to brick oven pie .... Margarita with Arugula (arugula goes on top after the pie is done) . The best pie I've ever had was at a place in Northern VA and I must say Emilio's pie gave them a run for their money! The chew and char of the dough, with the perfectly balanced sauce and fresh mozzarella topped with arugula leaves ... truly perfection in a pie! The only reason this isn't 5 stars is because I didn't get the full dine in experience as I hoped due to a little delay due to the kitchen being super busy, but I will be back :) read more

Emilios is a great place, with great pizza, great vibes, and great staff! This is a small, but very impactful place! A local favorite for many, as it can get pretty busy here at times. They have some seating inside and when it is nice outside, there is a good space for more outdoor seating. I always suggest calling ahead to try and reserve a space, just in case it is a very busy night! As for the food, I always have had good food here! Their speciality is pizza, but do not take their wings (or as they say "Wangz") for granted. Typically on Wednesdays (also double check this if you plan to leverage it when you call to reserve), if you purchase a pizza, you can then unlock the ability to get $1 wings! For the Wangz specifically, my favorite is the Cracked Black Pepper ones. These wings typically are not small and have a good amount of meat in them! The flavor of the pepper blends goes very well with them! For the pizza, I have tried many of their speciality pies. Some of my favorites include: - Hot Julia - Red pie w/ Pepperoni, Riccota & Pecorino cheeses, Basil, & Hot Honey - Spicy Calabrese - White pie w/ Gargonzola, Nduja (spreadable pork sausage) & Calabrian Chillies - Prosciutto & Argula - Red pie - The Otto - Red pie w/ Anchovies & Capers These pies are made Neapolitan style and the dough has great flavor! As soon as you walk in you a greeted by lovely staff and a full view of their cool wood fire pizza oven/kitchen area. Waitress's were very nice and checked in very often. Watching the chefs/owner make the pizza's while waiting to the aroma of delicious food being prepared was pleasing. Clean restaurant and clean kitchen which is essential for me personally. Now to the food the best part of it all. The Neapolitan style pizza was perfect, thin crispy and very evenly made with sauce/cheese. The meatballs were some of the best I've ever had. Wow, I wish I can rate this place a 6 out of 5. From the service to the food, this place is amazing. Really cute restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating. When you approach the restaurant you can already smell the pizza! We ordered meatballs and Caesar salad to start. The meatballs (came in 4s) just melt in your mouth, they were cooked thoroughly and the sauce was delicious. It was also topped with ricotta, a very creamy delicious combination. The Caesar salad was also really good, the dressing had a bit of spice. We ordered 2 pizzas, the Margherita and the hot Julia, which the waiter recommended. Both were so good, but the hot Julia was something else. First of all, decorated so beautifully with the ricotta flowers, but it was a combination of sweet, spicy, and herby. Not to mention the soft dough and perfect sauce. I think I may have found the best pizza in the Nutley/Clifton area!! The restaurant was also very clean, and everyone that worked there was so nice. It is VERY kid friendly, they had high chairs and even plastic plates. They also gave my son a kid friendly cup of water. I went yesterday but I might go again this week! Hands-down, the best Neapolitan style pizza I have had outside of Italy. Perfectly cooked, some nice char, and the crust was light and fluffy. Friendly staff as well. We had meatballs for an appetizer and they were light and flavorful. read more

We went to Emilio's the pizza is great truly delicious. My only problem is the seating time limit. Party of 4 we ordered apps 4 pies delicious pizza then we order 2 more and dessert. Right before the 2 additional pies came the mom came over telling us about the time limit. We told her we have to more pies coming out and desserts. Never happened to any of us before in our lives and I have dined at many restaurants. It's not like we were there squatting we had more food on the way. If the table time limit was a problem don't take an additional orders or ask if were interested in dessert. Left a bad taste to our dinning experience and none of us ever went back. What a great place! Delicious and lovely restaurant where the owner is making pizza right behind you. You could tell his love for food and service goes right into his food. I've had/eat a LOT of pizza. The lightness/airiness of Emilio's Neapolitan crust is unmatched. It is literally like biting into a cloud, and I don't know how else to describe it. Pro tip for my fellow dough lovers: at a Neapolitan place, my husband and I always make it a point to save all of our crusts for last, and then ask for olive oil, salt, and pepper so that we can dip our crusts as we eat them. This is UNSKIPPABLE at Emilio's because of the crust's cloud-like quality. You gotta' do it. The crust was obviously my favorite part of this place, but other standouts include the friendly staff, the owner slinging pies, and the unique "Lisa" pie, which is a bar pie made in the Neapolitan oven (have not seen this anywhere else). BYOB, and price is slightly cheaper than comparable establishments. GET THERE! (PS -- they don't say anything about reservations on their website that I could find, but I called and asked, and they accept them -- recommend doing that because there's only a handful of tables!) read more

Bill C. I have some words for you.... This place deserves EVERY 5 star they received. My sisters and I stopped here on a whim. First things first, this place is so clean. Second the food is absolutely amazing. The italian limonata soda is such a refreshing lemonade soda. They sampled an artichoke dip that (fingers crossed) they really should add to the menu. We used our pizza crust to finish it, thats how delicious it was. We then ordered 3 pies: Hot Julia, Gerbs and herbs, and a mushroom truffle oil pizza. I dont eat mushrooms but that was so good. Nutley is truly becoming the next big foodie destination in North Jersey! We loved checking out Emilio's and getting to hang with owner/pizzaiolo Ralph! The pizzas they're cooking up here are top notch, some of the best we've had anywhere. And those wings cooked in the oven are worth a visit on their own! Finally came for the first time since moving to Nutley, absolutely fantastic place! If you like Neapolitan style pizza then Emilio's won't disappoint! The dough had a great bite to it and the flavor combos on the hot Julia pizza were so perfect together. They reminded me of Razza in Jersey City but without the insane reservations! Best Neapolitan pizza I've had since moving to NJ. I lived in Manhattan for 12 years and have eaten at every pizza joint listed as the best the city has to offer. I was living in BK when the famous Robertas opened and put Neapolitans back on the pizza scene back in the 2010's. Since then I have started making my way out to NJ and eventually settled here. All pizza cannot be judged against each other and have to be designated to different styles. When it comes to Neapolitan pizza Emilio's, in my experience, is hands down the champ of North NJ. Yes there are many others Neapolitan pizzas I have had from Mahwah to Maplewood, but having just eaten there the other day, my wife, who is always beside me on my pizza adventures said it best.....The toppings! Emilio has a knack for multiple combinations of toppings and they are all complimentary of each other. One thing we dislike in a Neopolitan is an over use of toppings, toppings that aren't paired well, or may work on a Sicilian or New York slice, but not a Neapolitan. As my wife said it best, the topping combinations are what makes Emilio's different. Not one element over powers the other. For example, the Hot Julia has Pep, with a hot honey to sweeten the spice, and a ricotta to cool the palette. It truly is a perfect combo. We've eaten here on multiple occasions and find there's always a new flavor offering while other Neapolitan joints we frequent never deviate or only have one special pie. Aside from the fantastic pie we love the small intimacy of Emilio's, it's never been too crowded, and have even been able to accommodate us as a party of 9. As I'm writing this I hope I don't change that, but who am I kidding I'm not Portnoy . As an ode to NJ I have to say, I believe NJ might have better pizza than NY. The range here is amazing and as those living in the 5 boroughs make their way east and build their pizzeria's here, it's truly making NJ a cornucopia of pizza styles. Suggestion: try The Otto! The freshest ingredients I've ever had on pizza. The vegetables are picked from their garden and the flour is imported from Italy. It was a two pie night. Hot honey pizza with pepperoni. The pepperoni covered the entire pizza. It curled up like cups with just the right amount of hot honey inside. Fra diavolo pizza,, peppers everywhere little sweet and heat. The crust has that perfect char that makes you wonder if they hired a pizza ninja. Overall, Emilio's is like that friend who's always late but brings such good food that you keep inviting them anyway. *New restaurant* I came here for lunch a month ago with my colleagues. It's a cute, bright and clean little restaurant with limited seating. The main attraction is definitely the wood burning oven. The chef/owner is super friendly and love his story. Best of all, he's 1/2 Italian and Ecuadorian- of course bias because I am Ecuadorian . We ordered the antipasto, I got the honey hot(as seen in picture) my colleagues order their own and because I was to excited over mine, I never took pictures of theirs. Clearly a big mistake! A meal to go from Emilio. A very nice first visit to the recently opened Emilio's Pizza. We ordered 3 pies and a salad for take-out. The pleasant lady takingl the orders was very patient and accurate, she said our order would be ready in 20 minutes and it surely was. The dining room was mall and cozy. All the food on the table looked simply delicious and all the diners seem to be enjoying their dinner at Emilio's. It was a pleasure to meet Emilio behind the counter churning out pies and sliding them into the fancy tile decorated wood oven with his name featured on top. Our pies were delicious at home. We were too hungry to take the time and heat them up in our oven, so i am sure they would have been better if we had. This spot was recommended by a friend and after trying it I cannot say enough good things. As a Neapolitan pizza fan, post moving to Jersey from NYC I had struggled to find a good spot but this is it. Passing it it looks very unassuming but don't let that fool you. Upon walking in the small space is very cozy and clean. Everyone is friendly and there's a vibe of comfort and good times. The owner approached us and the other customers just making sure our food and service were good which they most definitely were. On this occasion we just grabbed a margherita pie as a barometer of comparison to other pies I'd had and it was scrumptious. Every bite was so flavorful and fresh, I felt healthy eating pizza!
