Absolutely loved this place! The sushi was incredibly delicious, and you can tell everything was made fresh and with care. Great customer service, we called ahead with a request for custom rolls made with cooked salmon, and they were more than accommodating. The service was fast, the portions were generous, and every roll tasted amazing. We've officially found our new go-to sushi spot and will definitely be back! read more

Among the best Pokebowls I've had in NJ. It also feels more genuinely healthy with fresh ingredients and a good serving of meat. It looks like it's a small family business with a mom, dad and son running things. The mom was very sweet and gave us tofu miso soup while we waited for our Pokebowls. Inside is nice an cozy and is good for dining in as well as take out. I'll definitely return to try their sushi and other options. Update- Poke bowls still hit the spot. The new Beef Bulgogi bowl is absolutely fire. Just might be my new favorite bowl. Sushi is really good as well especially the Spicy Salmon and Spicy Tuna jalapeno rolls. read more

Been looking for a good sushi place and got take out. Unfortunately, I found the raw fish to be lacking in flavor. There were different types of fish but barely any distinction in flavor. The eel was an odd red color and what I can only describe as chewy. Not what I expect with eel. The taste was strange to me as well. Personally, I was disappointed and will continue looking. read more

Stopped by sale sushi and poke for lunch one day visiting a customer and they did not fail to impress. The food was absolutely fresh and service was impeccable. I took it too go but the restaurant looked fairly small so if you are going to eat in maybe call ahead. Will be going back to fulfill my poké needs. read more

Sake Sushi & Poke - Salmon Poke Bowl - Japanese Near Me - Nutley, New Jersey

I haven't gone on to review places in a few years, however I needed to come out of keyboard warrior retirement to give Sake Sushi 5 stars. HANDS DOWN the freshest sushi I've had in this area in a while! The portions are great, the price is actually worth the product you receive, and the quality of the fish is so fresh but not that gross fishy taste. I ordered this on a whim because I was craving sushi, and this was the only place in driving distance that was open. I have skipped over this place when ordering sushi before since I have my "go-to" place but this has offically taken that spot! I would highly recommend ordering from Sake Sushi. read more

Love getting spicy crab poke bowls from Sake Sushi & Poke. Delicious. Recommended. Also, the sushi is 10/10 and best price around Nutley. Service is on point. Easy to take out and cozy to dine in. read more

This is a nice and simple sushi spot in the heart of Nutley. Plenty of street parking and the municipal lot is right across the street. After we arrive a few other people came and the owners greeted them like family! They knew everyone that walked in the door and asked how they were doing. So so friendly. Overall the menu is very simple. You have your straightforward sushi and some fancy rolls named after the surrounding towns. I thought that was a really nice idea. I stuck with some basics and we got edamame to start. I also ordered a green salad and was a little sad when I saw it arrive because it was tiny and the price on that bad boy was 3.95. It was worth it though, he even came over and told me "eat all the dressing, it's good for you". It sure was, it definitely was fresh ginger. It was great. I would definitely come back or order for pick up! read more

Sake Sushi & Poke - a salad in a bowl - Japanese Near Me - Nutley, New Jersey

Continuing on my quest for a go-to sushi restaurant, I did a Yelp search for sushi places along my route of errands. With most places closing for "lunch break" from 3 - 5 p.m., my search brought me closer to home and I ended up at Sake. When I walked in, I was warmly welcome by both the girl and the chef. They handed me and menu, and asked if it was for here or to go. I ordered the Fire Cracker Roll, Belleville Roll, Vegetable Roll and the Kanypo Roll. Yes, when I try out a new sushi place, I like to go all out and try at least three different varieties. I was told to have a seat and she brought every thing to me. The Belleville was absolutely amazing. I couldn't believe how amazing it was. The perfect combination of all my favorite items - eel, avocado, crab & cucumber. I fell in love and ate three pieces before even trying any of the others. The vegetable roll was ok. But then you couldn't really expect a roll filled with rabbit food to be that interesting, now could you? The Fire Cracker Roll was my second favorite. Spicy salmon. Need I say more? It was just the perfect amount of spice to not burn the taste buds off my tongue. It will definitely be making it to my 'order again' list, along side the Belleville. The Kanypo was ok. Not a big fan of Japanese squash. I had to try it though. Now I can never say that I passed on it and wonder what it was like. Finishing my two favorites and almost the other two, I forced myself to move and pay the bill. While closing out my bill, we made small talk. I let them know how much I loved the food and would definitely be returning. The one downfall for some would be that they do not deliver. However, if you want "FRESH" sushi, you really should get off your bum and eat it if not right then & there at the restaurant, but at least pick it up. Freshness makes the sushi so much better. I definitely loved the friendly welcome & service I received here and will definitely return. They made me feel like I was a lifelong customer on my first visit. A way to my heart besides having amazing choices (which they do) and even more amazing food is fantastic customer service. They definitely met all my expectations and then some. I can't believe it has taken me this long to find this little gem, especially since it is right in my very own town. read more

Delicious, fresh sushi at a great price! They're also generous with their portions with their poke bowls. Definitely my new go-to sushi spot

Highly recommend! My husband and I stopped in on a Sunday afternoon to grab a poke bowl and some sushi. They were very friendly and we only waited a few minutes for our food. We were shocked by the very generous portion sizes and everything we ordered was great! We will definitely be back! read more

We got sushi from here today and weren't even able to eat it. My fiance is currently bringing everything out to the garbage and we're eating cheese and crackers instead. What an unbelievable waste of money on incredibly BAD sushi. The salmon was brown and oily and the king crab roll had one TINY piece of king crab for $26. They even managed to make a bad sweet potato roll. Will not return. read more

Outstanding Sushi in a comfortable atmosphere. The nicest people too! Can't do better.

Ordered over the phone and had a very pleasant experience even before I got my food. I ordered the sushi special deluxe off the dinner menu. My food was ready in 30 minutes and waiting for me when I got there. Seems like a nice place even though I did not eat in. Everyone was very nice. The selection in the combination platter was excellent a good mix of the basics as well as some special pieces. I am very much a fan of the fact that I could get it with spicy tuna rolls. I will definitely be back to order again. Online it says that you can BYOB when it reopens for indoor dining so I am looking forward to that as well! I would post a photo but I already ate it all. read more

This is definitely my favorite place to eat! The service is so good because the owners like to be close with their customers! Today I tried to sushi shumai which was really delicious. You can tell it was fresh because it was hot the second I bit into it. I had my personal favorite roll- the dynamite roll. It has the perfect level of heat, but if it's too much, soy sauce will balance it out without masking the flavor. I also tried the spice salmon roll; I did not think I would like it because I'm not a huge fan of salmon or cucumbers in my sushi, however, it worked very well! For dessert, I tried the red bean mochi which was delicious because it was soft and easy to eat. Overall, Sake Sushi continues to please me with their authentic food, care, and service. Catch me here again next week! read more

We just finished our first dinner at Sake Sushi, and it was nothing short of fabulous. Fresh and expertly served by the delightful and professional proprietors, Soo and Mia. The Miso soup was among the best I've ever had, rich in flavor and not too salty- and my seaweed salad was perfectly dressed, followed by melt in my mouth sashimi. My husband loved his sushi platter- and we enjoyed our conversation at the sushi bar with our new friends (Soo and Mia) who clearly love what they do: making people happy by creating a friendly environment and preparing and serving delicious Japanese cuisine. We will surely be regulars of this very sweet, unpretentious, top drawer sushi restaurant. Bring your own Sake if you wish, but you may not even notice it's absence. read more

My all time favorite sushi place in the area!!! Always super friendly and great quality sushi! 10/10 would totally recommend!!!! Love them! read more

OK sushi place. Nothing particularly spectacular. Rolls better than in supermarkets but not that good to make it a destination place. California roll was loosely made and felt raw. Spicy tuna roll was a bit overly spicy. Avocado tuna roll and seaweed salad were good though. Service wasn't great either. Dirty dishes were left on the table. No one was asking if we need anything else. read more

My favorite sushi spot I've been going to since high school. The cleanest, most amazing sushi, and wonderful staff. Nobody I repeat nobody makes a sushi roll like these guys. The owners truly make you feel like family and were family to me! I've been going in since a kid (i mean at least 2x per week) into my adult life! I hate to report this but I went in after a long couple of years due to moving out of town and I found out they have closed and it is new owners right now (it still says sake and the same number). Sake sushi you will always be home to me and I will miss you terribly. Maybe when I get married if you can make me some spicy tuna rolls and have a "sushi cart" I can bring you back to the game!!! I am devastated and wish we could go back a few years!!!!! The new family was very nice and it was spotless same vibe as Sake. I got the three roll lunch special and they gave me sweet potatoes fries, cucumber salad, and miso soup. All was delicious. I believe they will specialize in ramen. read more

Definitely back to the basics with this place. Very ethnic and bringing back the simplicity of sushi. There was only one guy working on a Saturday night, who was also the sushi chef. He was doing it all. Although there was only 2 other customers in there at the time, he managed everything well for what he could do. The food was great and made with alot of love. and he even gave us a free Mochi icecream at the end. My only negative is that the TV was very loud and that we had to ask for water. read more

Strange. One worker, two customers. The miso soup was tasty. The sashimi salmon appetizer was very fresh, but the rolls were small and expensive. Our bills was over $60 and it felt like I ordered nothing. He gave us a free mochi ice cream when we paid which was nice. The atmosphere could use some work. There was a commercial/infomercial playing on the tv the entire time we were there. It was about operation smile, so needless to say it wasn't the most upbeat Saturday night dinners I've had... read more

There are a number of great sushi places in the Montclair/Bloomfield/Nutley area, and this is one of them. If you haven't been here and are looking to treat yourself to some sushi, this one is well worth a visit. Great sushi, friendly service. Tip though: ordering their little Mochi ball green tea iced cream isn't really worth it, I'm pretty sure it's the Mt. Fuji brand and you can get a whole box of them at an H-Mart or Mitsuwa's for a price that makes more sense. Still, great place to eat. read more
