We were looking to try a new sushi place and Domodachi came through! We ordered take out, but the staff was so friendly they all gave us big smiles and thanked us for ordering (even the chefs). The spicy tuna roll was amazing and the salmon avocado roll was to DIEEE for. The quality of the sushi was outstanding and you could taste the freshness. 10/10 would definitely recommend this place. I'll be ordered again soon!
Pretty disappointed with this place. The special rolls were good (the crazy salmon was the best thing I ate, fuji mountain was so so). The sashimi and sushi were not good. The fish was too fishy and didn't taste very fresh and we couldn't even finish the platter. Sad because the service was very good :/
Delicious and creative sushi! Loved every roll we tried, this is going to be another one of our favorites in the area. We tried the following specialty rolls: dynamite special, lobster popcorn tempura, wow shrimp tempura, crazy shrimp tempura. They were HUGE and full of flavor. Also tried the spicy scallop and spicy tuna crunchy regular rolls. The spicy mayo is actually spicy here. They gave us a complimentary side of edamame in soy sauce which was delicious served that way. We got delivery via seamless, which had a lot of extra fees, but worth it when you don't want to drive anywhere. Overall the prices of the actual food were not super inflated like others we have been to lately. Would like to dine in at some point too but so happy they deliver all the way to my house! They're also open on Monday when my local place is closed.
One of the best sushi places in the area! The sushi is extremely fresh and tastes amazing! They start the meal by serving soup and edamame on the house. We then got the special sushi for 2 to share. We were so full by the end of the meal that I practically had to crawl out of there!! The service is wonderful and people are very warm. It is byob and there is a liquor store right opposite to the restaurant for people like us who forget to bring a bottle of wine! Overall I'd definitely come here again and again because this is going down as one of my favorite sushi places!
Absolutely love the sushi here! The first time I ate here I underestimated the serving sizes. They definitely don't skimp out on the rolls! The restaurant itself has really great ambience with wooden decor. Staff is super nice and helpful, which makes the dining experience that much better. Seating is on the more limited side so I'd avoid large part sizes. I highly recommend the Fuji Mountain. It's piled high and jam packed with some great stuff! I really want to try some of the kitchen entrees next time because the sushi has been stellar both times we dined here!
This place is SO good. We got the Spicy Salmon Crunchy Avocado, Salmon Mango Avocado, and the Dynamite Roll (Special). All three rolls were amazing. Service was great. Solid sushi! I liked it! It tasted fresh, it was good and the precautions were pretty good when I came to pick up my takeout. We ordered the Sushi for 2 Deluxe and it came with a lot of sushi for $65! I thought it was a good price for what we got (Sushi Deluxe is 24 pieces of sushi, rainbow roll, dynamite roll and california roll). I thought that was a pretty good deal in itself but they also included some free edamame! Usually I'm pretty indifferent to those fuzzy green soy beans but these were yummy! They're seasoned differently than just with salt like how most places do it. Definitely try this place! (FYI- it's located in the old location of Nizi Sushi.)
DomoArigato, DomoDachi! When my Yelp Elite Bro and Sis asked what I was craving for dinner I said, "Whatever." That whatever turned out to be my favorite meal that week. We called ahead for takeout service. We ordered several different rolls, a bulgogi bento box, a chicken katsu bento box, and dumplings which came with miso soup and complimentary edamame. All the rolls were delicious with the flavorful sauces, the crispness of the crunch, the perfectly made sushi rice and the fresh tasting fish. Each bite was enjoyed thoroughly. The dumplings tasted homemade and not from a bag in the freezer section at the grocery. They were stuffed with goodness and did not need to be dipped in the sauce because they were packed with plenty of flavor. My picky, McNugget loving God-kids devoured their bento boxes. I was hoping they didn't want the shumai so I can eat them but alas they loved it and ate it all. Looking forward to visiting DomoDachi again!!

I wasn't going to pass up the oppor-tuna-ty (warning: low-flying dad puns!) to try a newer sushi place a town over with a perfect 5-star rating here on Yelp. The prior residents at this location (Nizi Sushi) were (and still are) wildly overrated in my humble opinion. But the current occupants? Positively delectable. Immaculate looking rolls that were overflowing with flavor. (The aftertaste lingered a good hour after dinner and kept reminding me just how good their food was.) A bonus container of free (!) delicious (!) edamame was a nice surprise. My wallet wasn't too happy (almost $20 for their 'Japanese Hot Dog Roll'?!) but the food is firing on all cylinders. Cool staff. The restaurant looks great inside (even though take-out is the only option nowadays). There's plenty of sushi heavy-hitters within a ten mile radius and Domodachi has definitely broken into the Top 5.
I don't know how this place has so many five star reviews, but this is easily the most disappointing sashimi I've had in years. The quality of the fish was around supermarket sushi. It was just bland, flavorless, and for the sashimi assortment, I got mostly salmon, which is good, because I had to spit the tuna and the other fish out. The dark spot on the one piece of sashimi? That's a fish scale. There were a few other fish scales interspersed, so I don't think they were really keeping clean cutting boards while prepping the fish. I typically order from a different place, but they had a much longer wait time on UberEats and now I know why this one had a much shorter wait time. What a waste of money.
HIGHLY RECOMMEND. Everything was delicious and super filling! My boyfriend and I go here often for dinner and the food is superb and staff is so kind. All of their specialty rolls are great. The tempura is a little different but still delicious. FOOD I RECOMMEND: the seared salmon appetizer, soft shell crab tempura, the lobster roll, anything with seared crab on top, NOTE: It is a smaller restaurant, they don't seem to have a proper reservation system so it is first come first serve for tables. bigger groups may have to wait longer. BE PATIENT. Often times I see people come in and leave soon after because they can't wait- then 5 minutes later a table opens up. The staff is trying as hard as they can to seat you! Just be assertive but kind (remind the the woman and male host, how many are in your party). It's a small business, don't be rude! If you can't wait just order take out :)
After years of dining at another Sushi spot in town, Domo Dachi has become my new favorite. After quite a few visits I'm still impressed and trying to eat our way through the entire menu. This may take a while as their offerings are quite extensive. Everything is always fresh and presented beautifully. Staff is always friendly and enthusiastic. The space itself is cozy and inviting.It's a BYO and there's a liquor store right across the street that carries a decent $10 sake already chilled. See you there! read more

Had gone for lunch yesterday, and I have to say it was great. The sushi was fresh and I LOVED the edamame they served. So good, it's not just salted. Not sure which ones what sushi, but I have to say it was super filling and so good. read more

We ordered takeout on a Friday night and got this beautifully crafted sushi platter. We put in a pretty big order and we're so amazed at the quality of each dish. 100% would order again. probably the best sushi in town! read more

I went here based on a Yelp recommendation and I'm so glad I did! It's really important to have high quality/fresh ingredients, especially for sushi, and this place did not disappoint. They have so many great sushi options but we went with the burning heart roll. It was pretty spicy and shaped like a heart which was sooo cool. And the katsu chicken bento box came with so much for the price! Grrreat. They packed everything perfectly, including extra spicy mayo (my fav). We didn't wait too long for our order considering we walked in and ordered takeout, only like 20 minutes. We had no trouble finding street parking either. The staff was super friendly and helpful. They even gave us free edamame with a cute lil smiley face! Domodachi your attention to detail does not go unnoticed. :) read more

I've been here a total of 3 times, and every time I am so satisfied. The amount of food they give you per roll is filling and there is so much variety in each roll. My go-to roll is the Eatherford, and definitely try out the Japanese hot dog. The price for how much food you get it is a great deal. read more
Wow, so we picked up some dinner this past Friday night and not sure if it's a regular thing or these guys were just really on point, but the food was INCREDIBLE! Every piece of sushi had a perfect cut and tasted so fresh and buttery where they felt like they were melting in my mouth. The Chirashi I ordered had a nice selection of cuts and the rice was perfectly seasoned. The only complaint was the wasabi was crammed in on the side and ended up covering one of my cuts of tuna, wish they put it on the side. read more
Simply put, thank you to the old Nizi for moving on so this gem could move in. Have been here about 3 times now. First time I was just stopping in for a snack while I picked up the dry cleaning. It was mid afternoon a week into opening. Got to know the owners and they are beyond nice. I started simple my first time... sashimi deluxe. They threw in some fried tofu. And homemade soy sauce say what? Ita fabulous! Took it home to the fam for a mid afternoon snack and got thumbs up all around. Second time hubs and I went and ate in. Couple of rolls, some hot tea, and some edamame on the house. We left VERY full and satisfied. Cathy the owner chatted with us and we asked about the bulgogi which she recommended we try next time we were in. And so it was we found ourselves wanting some sushi on this blustery cold day, but I wanted bulgogi. Oh yummy goodness of fried pork, just spicy enough, and the tasty is layers and doesnt hit you right in the face. Perfection. Now I will tell you the truth... I don't want to tell you all about this place. The bulgogi, the two rolls, the edamame at the other sushi place will set you back about $40. The old Nizi even with the free mussels everyone loves would have set you back about $50.... those mussels arent free ya know... they just add it into the price of the other stuff.... This place, well I had two special rolls, bulgogi, edamame, two teas, and then we ordered to go for the kids 4 piece sashimi and two more rolls. Walked out $60 including the tip? THE FISH IS BEYOND FRESH AND THEY ARE SO DARN NICE! Run here..... read more

Been going here since I was in highschool (about 3 years now) I love it. The owners are very kind, always giving. Portions are great for their price, the place is a small cute restaurant. I've been to many sushi restaurants and overall this is the best one. If you're looking for real authentic japanese food, this is it! Try out their Bento boxes! read more

I love this sushi spot! Recently moved to East Rutherford and this is our go to place now. We go here pretty often and they are very consistent! I get the Tim Tebow roll every time and my husband gets the spicy tuna crunchy roll and the sweet potato tempura roll. I've brought other family here too and they also loved it. The place is clean and staff is very welcoming and attentive from the moment you enter! We'll definitely keep coming back here. read more

The BEST sushi place EVER! Sushi is my weakness and I've been to over 30 sushi spots in Bergen county and this is the best one. From the moment you walk in, the greetings, the food, everything is always consistently amazing! I've probably been here once every week because they're that good. If you love spicy tuna try the spicy tuna crunchy roll ! Appetizers and main dishes are also amazing. read more

For the price point and quality, this spot doesn't disappoint. They are prompt with orders and always include a complimentary edamame! We have orderred from here a few times & their take out is great-- it travels well and tastes delicious! I haven't dined-in at their restaurant yet, however, I have seen that the inside is small & charming. Their ginger dressing is delicious, and the green salad is always fresh so it's a go-to. Some of our favorite rolls so far have included the Blue Bird, the Union Roll and the Burning Hearts Roll. Each are super flavorful and filling! I look forward to orderring again soon. read more
