Decided to give this spot another try since the last time was a few years ago, and I had only tried the sushi and Pad Thai. This time, I went with Chinese and it was actually pretty good. We had the sesame chicken, chicken and broccoli with garlic sauce, and some lomein. All of the chicken was cooked perfectly, and they pack the boxes to the brim. The sesame chicken wasn't overly breaded, which I really appreciated. I hate when you bite into a juicy-looking piece of chicken and it turns out that it's all batter. These were lunch specials and for the side item, you only get to choose from an egg roll, wonton soup, or a soda. Would be nice if they included hot and sour soup as a choice because that's what I usually like to get. That will be the next step - to try their hot and sour soup. If that's good, I may have found my new go-to Chinese takeout restaurant. read more

1st time and it was exceptional! We ordered White meat chicken Sesame- it was real meat and nice big pieces. A massive amount as well. So good because places usually use filler so I stopped eating it. This is legit. Egg rolls are really good.... Something different in the filling that seperates them from run of mill egg roll- it's a big egg roll as well. Sticky rice and edamame finished the order for me. Yan is a convenient and good spot whenever you have a craving for Chinese or Japanese food. Not only are the prices fair for it's location, their delivery service is always super quick! My food usually arrives within a 25 min to 30 min window and the food does not disappoint. Some of my go to dishes to get delivered is the Vegetable Udon, Vegetable Mei Fun, or spicy kani salad. Their dishes are so filling and a great comfort meal to order whenever you're not in the mood to cook. read more

First time ordering from Yan (we did take out) and we were delighted with the quality, presentation and taste of the food! I had the mango chicken, which was flavorful with heat and had generous slices of mango. My husband had the Chicken Bok Choy, while our son ordered the Miso Ramen with pork belly. The pork belly was seared nicely, and they gave generous amounts of both! We reheated the leftovers the next day, and it was just as good as when we got it! We will certainly be back. read more

Heard about this place when they were giving out menus door to door, my mom and I decided to try it out and WOW!! They have to have the best Kung pao chicken I've had from a take out place! My gf also loves their sushi. The workers and owners there are super nice and understanding, always willing to work with you. One time there was a mix up and our food got sent to the wrong house, but after calling the place up they were super nice about it and redid our order! The owner himself even delivered it! First time trying Yan after seeing a few recommendations on FB. I'm usually weary of places that "cross the streams" and serve Chinese, Japanese, and Thai on the same menu. That usually means none of the three are their focus. Positives: Owners are very nice. The mini pork buns are amazing. Would go back just for them. Wonton soup is good, too. Egg roll = eh. The thai basil chicken wasn't bad but not a lot for the $. See below. Negatives: I know it's a "Lunch special", but when you include the rice in the same container, i.e, put it under the food -as they do w/ the Shrimp w/ Lobster sauce; Basil chicken, etc., the sauce is entirely soaked up by the rice, leaving the dish void of nearly all its sauce. Not to mention, the container was 90% rice, with just a small bit of the actual dish on top (pic). Very stingy. Additionally, I know shrimp and lobster sauce is a tough one to get right, as most places make it quite watery and flavorless. This was okay, and the shrimp were nice size, but I've never seen a place use artificial crab/seafood pieces in a lobster sauce. It usually contains green peas, scallions, etc., which this version didn't have. Overall, not impressed. The pork fried rice was okay but way too much soy used in cooking, as it was nearly 'black' in color, when most fried rice dishes are a golden brown. Hopefully they will take this as constructive criticism as they have potential. Just need to up their game a bit. read more

Large selection of food. Everything we order from there is amazing. I recommend this place over any place in the area.

We order regularly online, they always deliver rather swiftly. It's the perfect stuff for a chill night at home. Staff is quite friendly if we order or pickup in person. They do not do dine-in so please keep that in mind. For vegetarian food, they're the most accommodating pan-Asian restaurant we've found, regularly willing to do most entrees with tofu and serving sizes are large enough to split or fridge half. We really enjoy their variety of sushi and customization options. I do really wish they had a cold sesame udon noodle appetizer as it's probably the only thing missing from their menu I love. We also regularly order for larger groups and our meat eating friends have been happy with their food. read more

Ordered food from Yan Asian Restaurant last weekend when we were feeling sick with the flu. Amazingly the delivery was at my door within ten minutes of my order! I was very impressed. I was rather impressed with their food too. Of course we ordered soup. The Thai Coconut Soup was expensive but delicious. We got it with chicken just to come close to the old fashioned chicken soup that always was the cure-all.. The hot and sour soup was the best for fighting off this flu, though. So my son & I loved this place and have ordered from them a number of times. They have chinese & thai dishes are previously we were very pleased. Not sure what happened, the dumplings are still good and the general taos chicken was okay but the Thai dishes were not recognizable as Thai. Thai coconut chicken soup had no coconut at all or lime. It did have some chicken but nothing about it was thai except the price. And my thai chicken noodle dish was pretty tasteless. It wasn't wasn't even passable chicken chow fun. I HATE leaving negative reviews, especially now given how hard it is for small businesses. However, this one is necessary. Heard of this place from a family member. I was craving some Chinese food and normally travel up to a spot by my work for it because it's that good (see my review of Golden China in Pequannock). However, I was pressed for time and decided to give this place a shot. First off, parking is tough, but that's not their fault. Ordered pork fried rice, pork lo mein, and two wanton soups. Total for this was $34, which is rather exorbitant pricing and, in my opinion, overly-optimistic on the restaurant's part for what I actually got. The pork fried rice tasted off to me. Not bad, but off. Soup was okay, as was the lo mein. However, been sick since eating it. A family member has also been sick since the meal. Won't be back and don't recommend at all. read more

What?! I never reviewed this place?! How can that be? Lol I order from here for delivery every two weeks practically. Only reason I left off a star is they are very pricey. They menu is expansive and they truly do make a great variety of food, but steer clear of beef dishes. For the prices they charge you would expect a better cut of beef. However, sadly it is chewy and cheap quality like other fast food places. Jumbo shrimp dishes though are fantastic and the quality shows, but I don't think jumbo shrimp and string beans warrant $17. Their sushi is very good too, but I prefer another local place down the road. I love ordering from here because they have so many options to satisfy your tummy. I just wish the pricing was more economical. Doesn't stop me from ordering though! Quality food! Again stay away from the cheap beef cuts they use. read more

I ordered delivery from here through Grubhub. The food came faster than expected, and was all still hot when delivered. I ordered the mini soup dumplings, thai egg rolls, and a fantastic roll. The thai rolls were a little different and had a lot of flavor to them. The chicken inside them was a little rubbery though. The soup dumpling didn't really have much flavor too it, but great texture. And the fantastic roll, good, not great. They have a lot of options and good prices. I was a little worried because there weren't any Yelp Elite reviewers and most of the previous posters have either less than 5 friends or reviews. I was in a bind and needed food delivered to my hotel. Luckily delivery.com came to the rescue. I was able to easily place my order online and it did warn me about the 45-60 minute wait which was okay by me. Unfortunately delivery.com doesn't have a comment box so I put in the address but couldn't specify which hotel. The driver called me when exiting the freeway and then again when he was at the lobby. The food was packaged well and still piping hot. + thai iced tea + hot and sour soup +/- california roll (not a fan of the rice) +/- spicy tuna roll (not a fan of the rice) + lo mein with bbq pork, chicken AND shrimp Yes...I ate it all...and I would do it again! read more

Delivery order via Yelp and I must say they were pretty quick. Love the convenience of the online order and nothing was missing. As for the food, it was ok for me. The pan fried shrimp dumplings was bland....when I bit into the dumpling, i didn't expect to have so much liquid gush out. The sesame chicken was good, nothing spectacular. The dynamite roll had a good taste, not the best. I felt like the mayo topping wasn't mixed well enough....i couldn't finish the last piece and I usually demolish it. The one I did enjoy was the Beef and Bok choy.....wasn't salty and the broth was tasty over white rice. I Def would order this again. 2.5* tried this place for the first time since I'm my neighborhood and unfortunately was disappointed. We ordered the Singapore Mei Fun and the Szechuan style pork with rice and we realized that we were overcharged. Albeit not by a lot but the fact is I never thought I would have to double check receipt and menu. I know it's not the easiest times for restaurants right now but upcharging is unacceptable. Either change the menu or let the customers know that there's an extra fee. It's not like it was a fixed fee and seemed arbitrary. The food itself was nothing to write about. There don't seem to be many authentic Chinese restaurants in this area. This is as close as we have seen here. The restaurant was empty when we arrived. We were looki g to have a healthy, light dinner. We had the Shanghai bok choi, the flounder fillet with tofu in a hot pot, and mei fun (rice noodles) in soup with chicken. It was all very good. The fish hot pot was especially good, with large chunks of fried fish. Seasonings were on point and nothing was overly greasy or salty, as chinese food sometimes tends to be. We ordered 3 dishes to share among 4 people, and still had leftovers to bring home. We didn't order dessert, but the waiter brought us a complimentary slice of chocolate mousse cake to share. read more

I've eaten here about 3 times and everything i've gotten hit the spot. they have a lunch special for sushi and regular plates (less options), which I'm a huge fan of. and a website that makes it easy to order online and pay beforehand or in store. i've had their pad thai which is super filling, even just the lunch size. also really good! but then again, that is just pad thai, which is a pretty basic dish.on another occasion, i ordered their sushi (lunch special - 3 rolls for $10.95 with soup or salad) and thought "theres no way their sushi is as good" but it was ! and this may be my new sushi lunch spot in the area. they are fast and the fish was fresh. AND didn't charge me extra for a side of spicy mayo! always a plus. only one negative the one time i dined in: our waiter was a little frazzled and busy (even though the restaurant wasn't even half filled), but everything still turned out well! read more

This review is solely based on delivery. Overall, delivery time has been very good. I would say from 30 to 60 minutes tops. This restaurant has EXCELLENT ASIAN FOOD!!! Beginning with amazing appetizers! I've had a very tasty 10 piece Dim Sum platter which includes pork, veggie, chicken and shrimp dumplings. The Large House Special soup is absolutely amazing. It includes 4 LARGE Tasty Wontons! It's Entrée Time! I've had the absolutely scrumptious Honey Walnut Shrimp $14.95. The shrimp is "very lightly fried". The mild Sweet flavors are well married together in this Yummy dish. Under Yan's Special Rolls, the Rutherford Roll is absolutely incredible! It has shrimp, yellowtail, avocado, banana in fried tempura butter with caviar on the outside $10.95. The banana makes the roll have a nice sweet taste!!! You do get a pint of rice on the side. Should you need a special request (like me for extra wasabi :), it'll definitely be delivered too! Some other special requests might have extra costs. I hate hate HATE leaving one star reviews because I know how poorly it can affect a business and mistakes happen, but I was too hungry and too unsatisfied with my meal to let this one slide. I ordered 4 maki rolls and all my sushi rolls were WARM. Do you know how it feels to eat warm sushi! Not the best experience. The warm sushi was a dealbreaker but it gets better. I paid $0.50 extra for spicy mayo (usually comes free at decent sushi places). I don't know what they sent me but it wasn't spicy mayo. Conclusion: my meal was ruined on two levels-- if they spicy mayo was actually spicy mayo, I could have fought through the warm sushi but I just couldn't make Due with the circumstances handed to me. I've ordered a few times from here and for the most part delivery has been quick and the food hit and miss for the price. On my most recent order however, after eating most of the edamame, I noticed something in the corner of the container that I originally thought was just a bean stem. Ends up it was a small snail! As the beans were still quite hot, I have no doubt they were cooked well (along with the free escargot sample), however I hope the chefs are a little more thorough with cleaning the beans a bit better. read more
