This is my updated review. I tried to make this part of my annual trip, stopping in and grabbing some items to my last review I was disheartened because the last employee forgot to add a carrot cake and a tart and when I had got on my flight back in Burbank, I realized it . Lo and behold they had my phone number my name and they actually applied a credit from over a year ago to my order today so I was really happy and thankful that those two items were replaced. Today is my second day here on my trip . Had to grab my goodies and breakfast. We went with spinach and feta empanada, guava cheese, meat potato balls, I ordered the chorizo egg and cheese sandwich. And for my drinks, I went with fresh orange juice and a vanilla latte. I have a flight later this evening, so it's hard to bring back all these goodies with me. I sure wish they opened up another location in Northern California. This place is a must. There are several locations throughout southern California. Definitely save room in your luggage to bring some home.
Ahhh, Porto's....It's like going home to your hypothetical Italian grandma while she's baking multiple breads, danishes, and desserts just to fatten you up. Porto's started from a family business, and still operates like a family business - just on a way bigger scale. Their prices are SUPER - and you can't beat them, especially when it comes to the LA market. Their quality is also amazing! My boyfriend and I have come here for years now and although it can get busy, the wait is worth it. We've never gotten sick from any of their food, and we've also tried so much of the menu that covers a wide variety! To highlight some, their potato balls are a classic. They're so cheap that it's easy to get lost going overboard! Additionally, their fruit tarts, macarons, and croissants are delicious, affordable, and also aesthetically pleasing - this is clearly where social media influencers take photos of their food. They sell full blown cakes, as well as slices and other dessert options. They have different types of lemonade, matchas, and lattes; their iced strawberry matcha being one of the best drinks on the menu. The people behind the counter are also always nice, incredibly fast, and efficient - in which you kind of have to be in a busy environment like this. Porto's is a MUST. If you're new to the area, just haven't heard of it, or have been to another location, the Porto's in Burbank on Magnolia is, in my opinion, the best location based on the amount of seating, private parking lot, street parking, and neighboring vintage shops and small businesses.
I had such a great service here, I think because it was a weekday afternoon it wasn't so crowded or busy. We managed to find parking and the line was only slightly out the door. It did take us roughly 15 minutes to get to ordering, but once we ordered any baked goods and drinks came out fast. The sandwiches took som time but only 10 minutes, they gave me a device that vibrates when it's time. They had a dining area which was actually crowded. I got the new mojo chicken ball, matcha latte (no syrup, added stevia), and 2 sandwiches (cubano and pork). The matcha was delicious and it was amazing to see the staff make five different drinks all at once! The mojo chicken ball was very delicious, I wish I got more, the citrus flavor really complimented the vegetable filling and the chicken was tender still. The cubano was delicious as usual, my half didn't have enough pickle! The pork sandwich was a bit dry unfortunately but still good. Still a great Porto's, staff are friendly and they all are doing fast service.
I haven't been here in a while. Still as amazing as it was. You can't go wrong with Porto's. The freshly baked pastries, croissants, cakes and cookies are delicious. The food they serve is good and reasonably priced. Sandwiches, salads, empanadas and more. Their iced latte is one of my favorites and a must get. Customer service is welcoming and friendly. The ambiance is always fun as if you are on a vacation somewhere and exploring new things. I highly recommend Porto's.
A bright and clean cafe right on the corner. There was a line out the door when I got here and someone told me it's always like that, but that it moves fast. They were not kidding! I was in and out of line in about 5 minutes, which was just enough time to figure out what I wanted and struggle with indecision only once. The staff wrote down my order with a big smile and got me checked out quickly. If dining in, they give you a locator with a number so someone can find you and bring you out your food. I got the medianoche sandwich and had to try the famous potato balls, so I got one of each (the regular papa rellena and the cheese & spicy pepper). The sandwich was good and all, but I took one bite of a potato ball and halfway wished I had just gotten a whole dozen instead. The other food looks great too, like the meat pies, but I'm definitely not making the mistake of leaving without an absurd amount of potato balls next time.
Starting with - I LOVE Porto's. The quality of the food you get here is amazing. On top of the unbelievable quality, the prices are surprisingly affordable. Porto's is simply a blessing. The ONLY reason why I'm giving this 4 stars is because I've seen better from Porto's; I think the one is Northridge is just leagues above the one in Burbank. Accessibility is rough out here. You need to street park, maybe a few blocks away, and the lines are almost always out the door if you come during normal (and it's normally peak) hours. Once you get through the door and order, it's very challenging to find a place to sit. Some people like to eat after ordering their food fresh and others like to order bulk and take it out. Others leave after trying to find a place to sit or find an uncomfortable area to have their food. While it serves the quality of food you expect from a Porto's, it feels very crammed here. I'd recommend coming here if you just want to have some of the food. If you want a fuller dining experience, there are other locations available.
Everything I've tried is awesome or phenomenal. The tamales are flavorful, tender, great masa, and delicious chicken. The potato balls are crispy with beef and veggies and crispy. The ham and cheese croquetta are crispy, cheesy, and super delicious. If you haven't been there and you are getting it to go, do yourself a favor and order online and skip the 30 min line. Pick up is 2 mins.
Porto's is always busy, but they always keep it running as quickly as possible. We found parking easily in their lot and the line to order wasn't too long at 10:30am. The breakfast wrap was good. I would get it again. It had pork along with eggs, guacamole, and salsa Verde in it. The pan con lechon was good, but they pork was a bit dry. I smothered it with tomatillo salsa that came with the breakfast wrap. Churro croissant, macaron, and tartlet were delicious. Breakfast empanada was pretty good too. Inside can be a bit chaotic, but it's worth it for the affordable good food.
I have heard so many good things about Porto's so when we were visiting I knew I had to try some delicious delights from here. The line wasn't too bad when we were here, and moved pretty quickly. I looked at the menu before coming here which allowed me to order more efficiently. I'd recommend doing the same for your first visit as there are so many different baked goods available it can be hard to decide what to get. We got a plethora of carby creations and a mamey shake. Side note apparently mamey fruit is pronounced mah-may and not may-mee like I said it to the cashier lol. It's hard to believe these well crafted baked goods are so reasonably priced as we were pleasantly surprised at our total for so many items that we bought. Some of the items we got were the tamale, pineapple empanada, guava strudel, potato ball, dulce de leche besito, cheese roll, and mango mousse bomb. Service was very efficient for placing our order but there was a bit of a lag to pay. Service at the beverage counter was very friendly and kind. This was my first time trying mamey fruit and it was really good in a shake. It didn't really have any particular similarity to any other fruit I've had so I can't really describe the taste. Just get it and find out for yourself!

Fresh baked pastries, cakes, savory empanadas and potato balls, sandwiches and gourmet coffee and teas drinks and juices. What makes Porto's so popular? It's a Mom and Pop bakery that is family owned and operated; and one can see this in the quality of their products. Many people love the pastries and cakes. The most popular are the Guava pastries and Cheese rolls, in addition to many other sweets. They also have empanadas and a variety of potato balls, filled with cheese, meat and other savory ingredients. The sandwiches are very good, I like the Cubano and the Roast Pork. The staff is super friendly and the operation is efficient and customer focused. Lastly, the prices and the quality equal a great value.
On Wednesday morning, August 5th, I went to Porto's Bakery in Burbank and bought two dozen boxes of their famous Cheese Rolls -- two dozen in total, which my & everyone & my family absolutely loves! Their Cheese Rolls are so crispy and delicious, without being overly sweet, that they're addictive. You just keep reaching for another one! Every time I visit, I love how friendly all the staff are, and the restroom was clean when I was there, which was another plus. On weekends, there is usually an insanely long line here, but since I went on a weekday morning, it wasn't nearly as crowded, which was nice. The parking lot is also always packed, so finding a parking spot can be quite a challenge. But my parking luck is always very good and sure enough, a car pulled out right in front of me just as I arrived, so I was able to get a parking spot easily. I was so happy!
Nothing could be finer than being on line waiting to purchase pastries here! It's a dangerous place for someone like me...I love my sweets and I find it very hard not to buy 1 of everything! LOL! When you enter there are 2 lines...The one to the right is for just baked goods...The one to the left is for drinks, sandwiches, salads, and baked goods. The lines move quickly and the staff here are very friendly. I got a few chocolate cookies, a guava danish, wildberry muffin and a cinnamon bun to go and I am NOT SHARING! Hee hee. Great for the Coffee Queen to eat with my morning latte... Plenty of tables to sit at if you want to stay. This location is not as big as the one in Northridge. *They have a parking lot off of Hollywood way that is free. Street parking is also free. ~ and that's all I have to say about that...

My 4-star rating is based strictly on the food, consistent with all of my other reviews. I love this place and highly recommend Porto's to anyone. Porto's is just a fantastic bakery. The selection is enormous - pastries, cakes, cookies, sandwiches, breads... if you walk in without a plan, good luck leaving with only one item. One thing I really appreciate is that Porto's is one of the few places that doesn't ask you for a tip at checkout, yet the staff are still friendly, efficient, and genuinely seem happy to help. That's becoming surprisingly rare these days. The prices are also hard to beat. Even in 2026, you can still grab a freshly baked muffin and a Danish for under $5. Since they bake most of their pastries and breads on-site, everything tastes fresh, and that freshness really comes through. Here's my breakdown of what I've tried: Potato Balls - 4.5/5. The best savory item at Porto's. It's mashed potato filled with Cuban-style ground beef/stew, wrapped in a panko crust, and deep-fried to an excellent crispiness. A good balance of contrasting textures and tastes. Must try. Breakfast Croissant - 4/5. They have several versions (ham & cheese, egg & cheese, etc.). The croissant itself is good, though not bakery-elite. It's a little flatter than I'd like and doesn't have quite enough of that buttery, shatter-into-a-million-flakes texture. But I'm nitpicking - it still beats the croissants you'll get at most restaurants. The scrambled eggs are actually the star of the sandwich. They're soft, velvety, buttery, and cooked really well. Everything else does its job. Ropa Vieja Sandwich - 3.5/5. Think of it as a Cuban-style beef Sloppy Joe. The shredded beef is tender and coated in a sweet, slightly spicy stew that's packed with flavor. It's a touch saltier than my ideal, but not enough to stop me from enjoying it. The little bits of fat throughout the beef give it a richer, more satisfying flavor. Apple Strudel - 4/5. This is the sleeper hit. Honestly, I think it's one of the best apple strudels in Greater L.A. The pastry is beautifully browned, crisp, flaky, and buttery. Even better, the filling isn't just a sugar bomb. The apples still have some tartness, which gives the whole pastry a much more balanced and interesting flavor. Almond Croissant - 3/5. It's good, just not memorable. Like the breakfast croissant, it's a little flatter than I'd like and doesn't have that light, airy, flaky texture that makes great almond croissants so addictive. The filling is good. Tasty, but there are better versions elsewhere. Muffins - 4/5. It's a bit crumbly, but delicious. They are definitely better than ones you get from the supermarket. Fresher, nice balance of butter and sugar, not too sweet, which is good. Porto's coffee is okay. It won't change your life, but it also won't ruin your morning. It does exactly what it's supposed to do. Porto's is one of those places that's easy to recommend. The food is consistently good, the prices are refreshingly reasonable, and everything tastes fresh. Not every item is a home run, but when you can walk out with a bag full of quality pastries without emptying your wallet, it's hard to complain. I'll definitely keep coming back. read more

Visited on a Monday around 11am and while the line was out the door/down the sidewalk, we only waited about 15 mins because of how efficient they are! The spinach feta empanadas were delicious and the carrot cake was amazing. We'll definitely be back! Tons of indoor seating in addition to seating outside. Great vibe overall! read more

Come on, it's Porto's. It's a LA staple and from desserts to warm meals everything is excellent. I've ordered nice cakes here for parties, taken a lunch with some delicious plantains, and I've also ordered to go just boxes of pastries. Whether you're a tourist or local, this is a spot you have to go to. One thing I already keep in mind, this is not a place to go to if you're in a rush. There's always a line pretty much to the door or even out the door. So plenty of times I've just ordered on DoorDash. Pro tip: when I buy it in bulk like in the photo, I'll wrap and freeze the little pastries. Buy once use many times! read more

Not sure where my past review went, but my photos are still here. So let me just do a quick summary. Porto's are popping up everywhere but it's still my mom's favorite place for cakes. This is our go to for birthdays, anniversaries, holidays, etc. I like to go in for croissants and they also have bread loafs that they'll slice for you if you ask. The lines can get pretty long so I like to order ahead (online) and then just pick up. Prices have gone up but I find them to be still within a reasonable range. I do enjoy their sandwiches for a quick brunch from time to time. I'm not crazy about their coffee, but their seasonal matchas can be delicious. They only come in one size, which is a bummer because sometimes I find it to be too much. So usually I'll go with a friend and we'll share the drink. read more

We've been to this location I'd guess 3-4 times, most recently last Saturday the 11th prior to our trek back to NorCal. Porto's quite simply put is just awesome. The only bad thing about it isn't their fault, but it's basically you can't stop ordering stuff. I don't think I've ever walked out of there with less than 2 full bags of stuff. Their pastries, hot fresh to order food, coffees, all are awesome. I don't think I can remember everything, but I'll try anyways. The guava cheese strudels are really good, cheese rolls are a staple, and easy to bring a 12 pack home to share with family & friends. I think the potato balls & cheese balls might be my favorite though. The potato balls have ground beef and some little veggie ingredients wrapped inside mash potatoes then breaded and fried. They're excellent and unique. They've also got hot sandwiches, but won't let people order to pickup as they want to them made fresh to order. The ham n cheese is really good, that's a breakfast one so you need to order it by 11 I believe. This last trip we got this sandwich for the ride, spicy milanesa chicken sandwich. Really good, breaded chicken, mozzarella cheese, avocado, & some small slivers of peppers. I really wish they had a Porto's in NorCal. Maybe someday. read more
I have heard the buzz around Porto's for some time and wanted to try it for myself and picked the original in Burbank. Right off the bat, we saw the place packed. We were greeted at the door and told there were 2 lines. We waited in line for about 15 minutes. When you are called, we had a wonderful associate named Mayte help us. I told her it was my first time and she gave me some great advice, so we followed her recommendations and I am glad we did. We had the Cubano sandwich toasted and pressed and ordered as dine in so it came with plantain chips - it was a big sandwich and delicious. We also ordered the breakfast empanada with chorizo, this was our favorite, so flavorful and filling. For dessert we had the tiramisu and apple turnover- so tasty, the tiramisu was very creamy. To drink we had the lemonade mojito (non alcoholic of course), and hibiscus iced tea. The strawberry mojito was great - full of amazing fresh flavor. The hibiscus iced tea was our least favorite as it tasted like tap water. Overall, for being a popular cafe during lunch rush, we still had great service. Mayte was friendly and helpful. We even had someone pick up our plates as we were finishing - his name was Leo and he was also courteous. The food and dessert were great, and the strawberry mojito was delicious. We will definitely be back when we are in the area. read more
This is the first Porto's location I've ever been to so it holds a special place in my heart. There is a parking lot available for this location however it's always full when I come by. But there is street parking available in the neighborhood and it's a pretty populated area too. Lines have been moving faster since I've first started coming here but the wait time for my items have definitely gone down, probably cause I've been ordering less. Overall you can't really go wrong with Porto's especially when you know what you like. Lived up to the hype. The place was busy but lines moved very fast. The potato balls were really good but the pistachio macaron was the best thing there for me. Lots of seating so wasn't hard to find a place to sit down and relax even with how busy it was. The workers were really nice too. read more

All the food is deliciousThis place is fantastic. It was hard to find the perfect table for my aunt who uses a walker, but we did try. Next time I would simply show up early for lunch time. The main things I wanted to say are: 1. Free parking! 2. That guava cheese pastry does not disappoint! We agreed that the spinach pastry is a close second. Delicious! 3. I walked to the front of the line just to ask if there was a place for my aunt to sit while my mom and I were in line. I was SHOCKED when she said: "just bring her up front and you can order now." So lovely and welcoming and generous and inclusive. I'm so grateful. Thank you, Porto's Team! ps. ! I agree that it's a little tough to feed vegetarians (especially vegans) here, but it is worth it - at least for vegetarians!!!!! read more

Having lived in Los Angeles, I used to love visiting Porto's in Glendale, so I was excited to stop by the Burbank location, and it did not disappoint! Some things never change, and that's a good thing. I always have to order the spicy potato balls, which are perfectly crispy on the outside with a flavorful, satisfying filling. They're one of my all time favorite Porto's items. The guava and cheese pastries were just as amazing as I remembered: flaky, butter, and filled with a great balance of sweet guava and creamy cheese. I also tried the dirty horchata, a twist on the traditional drink but add a shot of cold brew coffee. This was an absolute delight with it being refreshing, perfectly spiced, and paired wonderfully with the pastries. read more

Porto's is always a hit! New Porto's location for me. Same result. I want to say I got back in line with my Porto's bag in hand to order even more food... and a worker moved me out of line and helped me get what I needed quickly! Great customer service. Place is like a zoo at all times, busy and Super packed but it's controlled chaos to say the least. They watch tables and make a line. This allows you to be first come first serve at a table rather than fighting for a table with someone who just showed up. The food I got today was a ropa vieja sandwich. It was good but not my favorite. I'm addicted to the spicy potato balls and the meat pies. Nice location. read more

I had to see if this was worth the hype. And yes, it was. Ordered 3 different sandwiches including the Cubano and the Grilled Chicken sandwich and my favorite was the Grilled Chicken sandwich. Prices are reasonable and this place was packed on a Friday at 2pm in the afternoon. I tried the cheesy ball and the chicken empanada. Everything I tried here I really liked. Will definitely be back again if I'm ever in the area.... read more

Ordered ham and cheese croissant, guava strudel, apple strudel, chocolate twist, mixed berry muffins, churro cookies, chocolate chip cookies, Plato de pollo platter, carnitas platter, ham and cheese croissant sandwiches, tamales, meat pies. Another Porto's hit!! This time, I brought a plate home. The Plato de Pollo is my favorite lunch/dinner order! Burbank is one of their older locations, so it doesn't have a dedicated coffee bar like Northridge. Plenty of outdoor sidewalk seating, and you can make it a date to walk along Magnolia Blvd. read more

Porto's is a legend! I think everyone in LA should pay homage here... and judging from how popular they are at all hours, everyone is!!! Other than their famous pastries (and there are soooo many of them), their sandwiches are excellent too! My favorite is their croissants - they are the best I've tasted... not only good but also cheaper than most places in town! Great service -- I estimated there are likely 50 people working at this place, front and back. Everyone I met was courteous and cheerful. You are unlikely to get this level of service at any other cheap eats in town. The ambiance is busy and lively. You have to self-serve but they are efficient and fast. Unbelievable prices in today's market! Whenever I come, I get bags / boxes of take-outs Lastly, one thing I love about them is, while everyone is asking for 18% to 25% tips, their cashier machines do not ask for any! We ordered a few pastries: blueberry cream cheese danish, almond croissant, quesadilla, and chocolate twist. All very tasty! I wasn't sure what to get, they have all sorts of pastries, tarts, cakes, and some savory options too. Everything was priced fairly, I'd say. We also got a un Plato de Rios Vieja, it was really good, the meat had good flavor and the portion was perfect for 1-2 people. The drinks here are also good, my party ordered a strawberry matcha and a honey coffee. There's a lot of options, something for everyone. The service is also great. There is a long line, but it moves fast (15 mins) and you can usually find seating if you're dining in. The servers all have a good attitude and are more than happy to give recommendations if you want some. I'd come back! The atmosphere is pretty casual. It's a good spot for lunch or a coffee break. Music isn't too loud, either. read more

Did the whole porto's in the world copy each of their businesses from another business?
It is my understanding that the founder came from Cuba and she started at the bakery on her own. It is a family business and I've never come across anything similar in my travels.
Are they open on July 4th?
Yes! Special hours are 6:30am-5pm. Make sure you preorder because it's usually busy on holidays!
Do they have the bread pudding back yet at this location?
Not yet… it’s a seasonal item during the fall. You can always call and see what they have :)

No sure, I have picked up at 8am. You can schedule the time through the website or at location directly.

Yes they do .. if it's on the menu when you are there you can order it

Is the meat pie's filling the same as the potato ball's filling?
Not really. The Potato ball is Harty while the meat pie is more of a flaky crust with about the same amount meat. Hope that makes sense 😅
