For some reason, yelp took down my order of this place, suggesting it wasn't a review of the proper place. I contested but I have yet to see my review go back up, which to me, suggests some shady reporting activity. Though I have no proof of said matter. To be clear, I have been here, multiple times. The atmosphere is the exterior of a train station (it was one once) and the interior is sort of a boxy coffee shop with some indoor seating, and a lot more fenced off outdoor seating. The coffee is way overpriced and super mid compared to other offerings around town. The food is okay, but also very expensive. The biggest issue is the location is across the street from the NoHo Subway station, which, sadly, in this day and age, invites a lot of questionable people surrounding the environment. I've been acostsed in the front of this place before, and have seen numerous other issues arise. I don't blame the coffee shop for this specifically, but location is an important consideration in one's outings. The staff was - fine. They seemed like they didn't want to be there. Personally, I think NoHo has gotten super crowded. I'd recommend some coffee joints in Toluca Lake or neighboring areas. If not there, then go across the way to Republic of Pie. At least they are legacy old school NoHo at this point! read more

This location is very unique as it is a former train station turned coffee shop, very cool. I tried the matcha and was not a fan of the cinnamon, threw me off completely. This cafe was built into the NoHo historic train depot. Very cool atmosphere, plenty of seating, and as a plus for many people it's by the metro! The parking is street parking unless you're parking at the metro across the way! The service was fast and friendly. We ordered the horchata cold brew, hot vanilla latte, and the breakfast burrito. The horchata cold brew was DELICIOUS! You could taste the cinnamon and the flavors melted together making it a supreme drink! The hot vanilla latte was also amazing! It was creamy and you could taste the vanilla flavor! The breakfast burrito though....EXCELLENT-DELICIOUS-MARVELOUS! As you can see we scarfed it down before snapping a picture, but the burrito was pretty big! It had eggs, potatoes, cheese, avocado, peppers and onions. On the side, they served a salsa and a chipotle aioli sauce so you could try them both out with the burrito! This was an excellent place to stop and grab a bite and a coffee. Great neighborhood coffee shop right next to the Noho station. Very big location with plenty of seating distributed throughout the front, middle, and their large back patio. Great spot to catch up on some work or do some reading, while also being able to have a conversation with a friend. Everyone here is friendly and helpful. I was unsure about the Horchata Latte cold brew and they let me sample it. I'm so glad they did because it was too strong for me. I went with a Vanilla latte and it was perfect. A good balance of coffee and vanilla flavors. My sister got the Beehive Matcha and really liked it too. I was in the area and was looking for a unique coffee/tea spot and came up on groundwork coffee. It's in what looks like an old train building, right in the metro parking area. There is meter street parking out front or you can park in the metro area and walk over. I walked in and orders the beehive matcha. Honestly a honey matcha sound intriguing so I wanted to try it. I asked for it iced and it didn't take long before it was ready. I walked upstairs to the seating area which had old chairs from an elementary school and vintage vibes all over. They also have a big patio outside as well, but I just wanted to chill in the ac for a moment. Drink 10/10 that honey matcha made it sweet but not overly sweet and the texture of the matcha itself was really good. I would def be stopping by again and grabbing another one! read more

Both the indoor and outdoor areas have enough space to provide a peaceful work area or intimate setting for chatting with your companions, and the vintage aesthetic is a welcome change from personality-free, cookie-cutter Starbucks. There's free parking a couple blocks past the metered streets around the post office. They're open till 4pm on weekdays only. We arrived about half an hour before 4 on a Tuesday and were pleasantly surprised with the offer of free pastries, as they needed to clear the trays before closing. They have Groundwork products available for sale as well, to stock up for yourself or secure a nice local gift for an out-of-towner. read more

Went there to meet client for work. The place is very quaint, it's an old train depot. It's right by the Lankershim metro station. Parking is street only. There is a post office parking lot that you can use (pay). There are quite a bit of the "unhouse" milling outside though. When you get in, all is good. Dropped by today for the first time! Haven't heard of this place till now. We had brunch down the street over at Bruxie's and I needed my coffee fix but wanted to try a coffee spot I haven't tried yet and this peaked my interest! We walked on over since parking out here is horrendous. Wasn't a bad walk, maybe like 2 blocks down. It's like an old railroad station converted into this coffee shop which is really neat! I went for a small Vietnamese iced coffee and it came almost immediately! There was one person ahead of us in line with the cutest and sweetest dog that we got to pet while waiting to order. They only have paper straws so I passed and just drank from the spout lid which is very convenient. Wish more spots had these lids! The sweetness and strongness of the coffee was perfect. Absolutely perfect. Definitely on the stronger side but that's how a Vietnamese iced coffee should be and what they are known for! It also uses condensed milk which is typical for this drink. I came here during the weekday during brunch to get some work done and now this is going to be one of my go-to study/ work cafes. The ambiance and noise-level is great for working as they provide wifi, provide free fresh water, outlets, and spacious tables indoor/outdoor The food and drinks are great to order while you are catching up with a friend or getting some work done. I have tried their Iced Matcha Latte and Cold Brew and they are both refreshing, flavorful and bold. I like how the drinks are not too watered down. Their Breakfast Burrito was so good! Feel free to ask them what foods and drinks they recommend as they are open to giving suggestions. Groundwork Coffee - North Hollywood is location next to the Metro G (Orange Line) on Chandler Blvd & Lankershim inside the South Pacific Electric Station (goldenrod/sandy yellowish building). They have parking on the street as well as a small shared lot with LA Metro (along Chandler / Tujunga). There's lots of seating on their open air deck covered patio. Free Wi-Fi, pet friendly and restrooms for customers (don't forget to ask for the code - they'll write it on your receipt). Life most cafe/coffee spots they have a few snacks and miscellaneous items for sale as well. They also offer some meals here as well. Trying this place for the first time. Didn't even know the place existed. Croissant was very yummy and the coffee was delicious. The two guys behind the counter were super friendly and I love the experience. Parking is a challenge since location and is right down the street from the metro station so the area is not pretty cool but their outdoor seating is very cute. We got to enjoy our coffee in our pastries sitting out there. It was very enjoyable. This restaurant is inside the train station. The walkway to get to the front door is very dirty and has a very strong urine smell. Inside is pretty ran down. I was at least hoping to like the food and drinks but was disappointed. The iced matcha was overly sweet and had a weird aftertaste. The avocado toast was burnt and barely had any avocado on it. Wasn't very fond of the service today. I showed up closer towards opening. You should treat every customer like it's their first time visiting and this was my first time. Baristas shouldn't work morning shift if they're not morning people because I didn't feel welcome at all. I ordered an iced matcha with their house cashew milk but I only tasted the milk. I asked for light ice and still got a cup full of ice. I also ordered two pastries (blueberry muffin and banana walnut loaf) and nobody offered to heat them up; loaf was stiff and tastes like it's been sitting for days. This cafe is not easy to find and the only reason why I stopped by is because I was already nearby + saw TikTok reviews. Very sketch area since it's by the subway station, the employees don't even want to work and pricey considering I didn't enjoy anything about this experience. We've been picking up to go coffee from here for the longest time. I've typically had a good experience with the staff working there but unfortunately this morning my experience was different. When I went to pick up my coffee that my wife ordered online on their app, an employee named Marcus, shouted at me rudely asking me what I'm doing. I turned around and said I'm just looking for my coffee. He continued to rudely apprehend me as if I've done something terribly wrong. He yelled at me and said I'm supposed to ask, I said well I didn't know as this is first time someone has told me this. You'd think this would stop his bad manners but he continued to lecture me as if they have a huge sign saying "ask us". I obviously stopped what I was doing and said you have to be nicer to customers and I think you should apologize for yelling at me. Not only he didn't apologize but he said something like hell no! I walked out without getting the coffee I paid for. If you don't want folks to grab coffee from the table you have placed the to go orders, you can put a big sign there saying so or place them out of reach. If that's not possible you can politely say "can I help you sir?" Screaming at a customer like they have done the worst thing in the world is not good customer service. We will never return to this location or any groundwork coffee again. read more

Their coffee is pretty good but not their service. Very unprofessional staff talking and not acknowledging your presence. Hours of operation are 6:30am-4pm. But the kitchen doesn't open until 8am. Which is kind of ridiculous for folks wanting to get breakfast and coffee before work at this cafe. Love the decor and vibe of this place. Lots of entrances blocked off and a security guard out front probably due to the nature of this location. The staff was friendly. The dirty chai was ok. The matcha latte was nothing special but not bad. Both were small to medium sized. The vegan breakfast burrito was large, piping hot and oily. It didn't have much flavor but wasn't bad in any way. We enjoyed the vegan BLTA sandwich and will get again. It came with a giant crunchy pickle. The cost of those 4 items came to $50 with tip! That's a lot for a quick breakfast. But so happy they offer vegan options and hope to be able to give this place another try. read more

Pretty sad to see the outside tables area become a homeless hangout spot... from having blankets on top of the tables, to luggage and bags with dirty clothes all over the place, lots of homeless people, hanging there, charging their phones, using the tables. there was a homeless woman sitting on a table with her legs open wearing a skirt , it was very uncomfortable to even find a clean table to place my food and eat. We visited Groundwork's coffee with a group of 10 people. The Coffee was made quickly and tasted mediocre. We made a comment to the Woman working behind the counter about how fast the coffee was made to which she replied "yes of course, it's because I'm on drugs". This comment alone was just a little concerning but it is what it is. The food only took about 15 minutes which is very impressive for 10 people. We ordered the burrito, bitches hash, avocado toast, yogurt parfait, and oatmeal bowl. The quality of the food is the reason for the 2 star review. The food has no flavor and honestly some of the food didn't even look real. Our experience here was less than stellar and we won't be back. read more
