Compelling Coffee is such a great addition to the neighborhood. Dropped in today for the first time, and was extremely pleased with my order/purchases. For starters, I went with a vanilla latte. Vanilla was sweet and flavorful, and the coffee was bold with a hint of nuttiness. Overall a 5/5. Folks have been raving about their delicious roasts, so I decided to pick up a bag of roast to brew at home. Great coffee, friendly staff and exceptional service! Will definitely be coming back for more coffee and to pick up another roast! read more

Compelling is compelling. Great espresso tonic....but let's talk about the yogurt parfait it was so incredible, I almost ordered a second one for the road! Thanks for making my morning! read more

A cute neighborhood spot. Got a matcha americano and a cappuccino. Their matcha was decent but not fully mixed--had some matcha clumps at the bottom. Also, the cashier rang it up as a matcha latte ($6.75), and I just thought it to be a little silly to charge the same price as a latte which has milk when I'm getting it with water. Whatever, it's ceremonial grade. Partner's cappuccino was good, a little too milky and less coffee-forward than I like but pretty smooth. The interior of the space is super cute! Small and intimate, well decorated, has wifi. Not a ton of tables so I'm not sure I'd post up and work here, but certainly nice for a moment to enjoy your drink. Parking situation: free lot! I might come back if I were walking around the neighborhood, but if I'm driving I'd rather drive somewhere else. read more

I had an Iced Latte and it was really good! Fast and good service, the place is small but welcoming! The only challenge here is the parking, the coffee shop is inside a little shopping center, so parking is a little challenging. I will come back and take photos! read more

The place was cute. It is a nice hole-in-the-wall coffee shop that I found while waiting for my kids pizza next door to be ready. I decided to check it out and grab my usual iced Americano; it was decent. I did not think it was strong at all. Usually an American brings me back to life, but I felt it was weak. The store itself is pretty; it has some nice decor and some random speakers, and the vinyl feels like the vibe is young and hippy. It's pretty great; parking is rough here, though. Come on a crowded day, and you won't find much. I thought my experience and my drink here were just average, nothing too crazy to brag about. I think my experience was also a bit, I guess you can say, an interrupted one. When I walked by the cashier, the young man was giving this other young girl half a sandwich, and it looked like they knew each other, as they were laughing and chatting. When I walked in, they stopped, the girl sat down and ate her sandwich, and the dude did greet me, but he looked bothered, like I had just bothered him from his conversation with this girl. I ordered my drink and got it, and once I left, I could see from the window as I sat in my car still waiting for the pizza how quickly he went back to her table and began chatting it up and laughing. I don't know; that whole little experience threw me off because I felt I interrupted something. I like that I got to check out a new spot. Since it's close to my home, I could easily go back, but then again, I really do hate going back to places where I feel unwelcome. read more

While visiting my sister, she took me to this super cute coffee shop, and I'm so glad she did! The barista was incredibly knowledgeable and gave me different recommendations based on the types of coffee I usually like. I ended up ordering a vanilla latte, and I loved how he took his time making it he even added the cutest little design on top. I also got a warmed-up Nutella croissant, which was super good (and super messy), but honestly I didn't mind one bit because it tasted amazing. Definitely a spot I'd come back to! read more

My boyfriend and I both got iced lattes and they were alright. They had a weird taste to them but I'm assuming it was because they were house made syrups. The service was nice. The man helping us was kind and patient. The inside itself was pretty cool I loved the vibe of it. The coffee menu is very small. Hoping it gets bigger overtime! read more

When I think of a local coffee shop that I want to be a regular at, this is the spot. Great service, delicious coffee, and they have pistachio milk! I grabbed an iced americano with pistachio milk and some overnight oats. Parking lot is small, so if you need to, grab street parking. The decor inside reminds me of a vinyl shop. I really love that they play jazz. Very cool spot. read more

YALLLL this place is my favorite coffee shop ever ever EVER!! i go here pretty often when im not running late for work and i can always count on them (no matter the barista) to make my drink as quickly AND DELICIOUS as possible and i am so in love with that. customer service is a 10/10 on top of that the ambiance is so peaceful and well arranged. they do not only have drinks but really great sandwiches. i took my friends here when they were visiting and they said it was probably LA's best cafe. IM NOT GLAZING AT ALL i've been all over K-Town, Little Tokyo, DTLA and yes they have good cafes but sometimes the quality of the drinks really put the places down. BUT NOT WITH COMPELLING!! they're soo so quality. THANK YOU COMPELLING!!! read more

Came in and was warmly welcomed by the cafe's barista. The shop had light music and a few small tables with a chill vibe. I had a few questions regarding the syrups and she made some suggestions that I will try the next time I visit. I decided on an iced latte with pistachio milk and vanilla bean syrup. I was going to do the chocolate syrup to get a Dubai chocolate feel, but when she described the syrups I opted for the vanilla bean. She quickly brewed the espresso and made my drink in less than 2 minutes, WOW! Impressive. I was in and out so fast so that was really convenient. The coffee itself was great. I loved that it wasn't too sweet so I got to appreciate the coffee roast. read more

Small little coffee shop, nicely decorated and clean inside. They have a small parking lot out front. I got an iced latte with their house-made vanilla bean syrup. Their dairy-free milks are only $0.25 which is really reasonable. I tried the latte with pistachio milk. I really loved the drink! Not too sweet, nicely balanced from the saltiness of the pistachio milk and the sweetness of the syrup. read more

I have stopped by a few weeks ago to try their coffee but I was a little late, they had closed for the day. This place is open til 2 so if you want coffee after that gotta look for another place. Parking lot is small and busy, street parking might work better. Customer service was great. Friendly and welcoming staff. I got two iced coffees with milk to go. I liked the way the coffee tastes. Really good. By the way it was almost closing time again when I went in today so there weren't any pastries or food available. The interiors are very simple and seating area is not that comfortable but they do have two tables outside the coffee shop. Overall a great place to get coffee from cause it tasted amazing. read more

Cutest new coffee shop on this side of the valley. Parking sucks a little as it's tucked in the corner of a small plaza so be mindful you may have to park on street. The coffee tasted yummy, all I got was an ice latte but I can tell right away if the coffee tastes good and this coffee shop sure has good coffee. The barista mentioned they also had pistachio milk so I definitely have to try it next time I come. They were playing good music on a record player and had vinyls of great bands + wall decor of tame impala and portishead! Win! Love good music! Lastly, the barista was friendly and this cute coffee shop seems like it's good place you can do work and enjoy good coffee. read more

Not gonna lie, but when I first walked in and saw the record player playing with the bookcase of neatly stacked records... Or as the kids say..."Vinyls" ...I thought to myself, "How pretentious. And yet, I like it." (Can't do emojis on Yelp so imagine a face palm and then a laughing with tears emoji). Super cool vibe. I liked the vocals of the singer so 8 picked up the sleeve to read who the vocalist was on this Jazzy orchestra band, while waiting to order, turns out it was the lead singer of Portishead! Ok, so now I'm digging this place even more. There's a cute little bench seating area inside and a cute patio set up outside. It's clean and they have food, but I didn't order any. I got a hot matcha latte sweetened and it was bomb! Made absolutely perfectly. Not bitter and not too sweet. I'll definitely go back to try a coffee whenever I'm in the area. read more

Solid latte, nothing terribly fancy or complex, but still superior to anything else within walking distance from me.

Super cute coffee shop and I became an instant fan when they had Marvin Gaye's I Want You album playing on vinyl. I got their yogurt parfait and gluten free tangerine tea cake. BOTH FIRE. My boyfriend got an iced coffee with their in house oat milk and it's delicious. Excited to come back and try their matcha and cappuccino! read more

So glad to have this in my neighborhood! I go quite often and get my iced latte fix. It's always better than what I make at home. Also love that there's a GF chocolate banana bread. I don't always have a pastry option since I'm GF, and this is a good one. Other than that, the baristas are all super nice. My dog also insists we turn into that little plaza and go in. Not sure if it's because of the good vibes or if he knows I'm better after the coffee lol but he loves it so much. Happy to give this place my money and avoid the giant chains any day. read more

Compelling Coffee - Compelling Coffee- Vanilla Bean Latte with Pistachio Bev. - Coffee Roasteries Near Me - North Hollywood, California

There is nothing compelling about Compelling Coffee...until of course, you take your first sip. The sign is basic and so easy to miss. There's no artwork on the windows. The patio looks bare and generic. In all this plain-ness lies the greatest quality of a hidden gem, blink and you'll miss it. Thankfully on this day, I had parked right in front of the store and managed to look up for a change. I ordered my baseline for all coffee shops, a vanilla latte. Since it was warm that day, I got it iced with oat milk. By no means am I a coffee sommelier, but I know what I like and this is what I like. Their basic espresso is the perfect amount of roast...you can taste the toastiness, but it's not bitter or acrid like some popular coffee chains. There's a depth of flavor to it. It's not the kind of coffee you just wanna pour down to get your daily dose of caffeine. This is a cup of coffee you want to sip and enjoy. Another mark of a good latte, in my opinion, is the sweetness level. If I have to add sugar, that's a bad sign. The sweetness level was perfect as is. It was sweet, maybe a bit too sweet, but it's balanced by the roasted notes of coffee. The oat milk gives it a creaminess and there's that vanilla undertone to the whole thing. Above all, you know you're drinking coffee and the other flavors aren't masking it or overshadowing it. They offer more than just coffee...there's some bottled drinks and pastries. There was one huge croissant that looked crispy and light and had many layers of buttery puff, but it was the end of the day and I had already ordered lunch...but eventually I'll come back for more. The barista was really nice and we had a nice little conversation about how long they've been there while she made my latte. I was surprised to learn that it's been there since January...so many other businesses have come and gone from that spot so I hope Compelling Coffee has success. read more

This is a great spot for a coffee or tea and some chill time. I enjoy their Matcha Latte which is 12oz of steamed milk and Ceremonial-grade Matcha. I also enjoy their Chai Latte which is 12oz of steamed milk and their house made Ginger Masala Chai. It's delicious and appeasing to the tastebuds. As for eats, try their Butter Croissant which is Freshly baked locally. Service is great as Quinn will help with any of your questions or suggestions. Love this coffee shop! I always order an iced honey lavender latte with pistachio milk. The sweetness and ratio of milk is perfect for me meaning you can actually taste the espresso. My pet peeve is getting a pale looking very watered down latte, but this place is so consistent. It gets the ratio of milk to espresso perfect EVERY single time. As a daily coffee drinker for my entire life when you see the color of the latte you just know lol. This is my go to spot ever since I stoped supporting a popular chain with burnt tasting coffee that will not be named. Service is always amazing too! The records playing in the background is also another favorite detail :) read more

Just to pitstop I needed for a tasty quality iced latte. They make their own syrups: vanilla, honey lavender, cardamom were on offer today. It's in an unassuming corner mall but the vibes are great at the shop both inside and out on the lil patio. Service was friendly and kind. read more

Great local coffee shop! We decided to try Compelling's newest location. It's in the corner of a small strip mall/shopping center just across from Mirabelle Wine Bar. They have the basics including matcha and tea, so the menu is not overwhelming. The inside is small - good for 1-2 people. I believe there was outdoor seating, but don't recall 100%. Super welcoming atmosphere! Since this is a very active dog area I'll preface that you can bring a dog inside, but you may be asked to carry them. We were asked to pick our dog up off the floor (small 20 lb dog). But the owner was very, very friendly about it! We ordered 2 iced vanilla oat lattes - they had good flavor, but the drink was a bit on the watery side and I was missing the full body/depth from the espresso. The vanilla was not overpowering which was great! Otherwise, if you're looking for a local coffee fix you may enjoy. Hope to see them continue to build their presence within the community! read more
