Consistent Southern Brunch Favorite! Even All the Way in Burbank! I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the "Another Broken Egg Cafe" sign in Burbank. I've been a regular at their Destin, Florida location for years and was genuinely thrilled to find the same spot all the way out west. The restaurant originally opened in Mandeville, Louisiana (on the north shore of Lake Pontchartrain) in the mid-90s as The Broken Egg Cafe, with the second location (Destin) becoming "Another Broken Egg." The Burbank spot perfectly captures that same warm Cajun-inspired atmosphere and the menu is nearly identical which was a comforting consistency I really appreciate. I sat at the bar and ordered the Cajun Shrimp & Crawfish Omelette (shrimp, crawfish, andouille, red peppers, tomato hollandaise, tomatoes, and green onions). I ditched the carbs and asked for a side of cottage cheese instead of the usual potatoes and English muffin; they happily accommodated my low-carb request. The omelette itself was hearty, flavorful, and exactly as good as I remembered from the East Coast locations. Jenny, the bartender/server, took excellent care of me. She was friendly, attentive, and we traded a few funny jokes that made the meal even more enjoyable. Terrible and disrespectful service. We were a party of four, but they refused to seat us until all four people were standing together in front of the employee so she could personally see everyone. Two of us were already inside, and our two friends were just outside. The restaurant had plenty of empty tables, yet we were still treated with suspicion and told we could not sit down. This was extremely rude, unprofessional, and humiliating. We have been coming here for breakfast for years and have never experienced such disrespectful treatment. The lobster omelet did not have lobster, just the langostinos that were suppose to accompany the lobster. When I pressed the matter with the owner's son/host and I asked him to speak with the manager about it, he just coldly said that she was to busy to talk to me. No smile when we walked in, checked in, or an apology for the problem with the food. When the server took the omelet back to the kitchen, the chef just said they don't have lobster, but they could put more langostino. Langostinos are not only a fraction of the cost, but they are different in flavor and texture as well. They are pulling a scam with the lobster there. It is not ethical and is actually illegal to advertise things on the menu that you don't have. It should be removed if they don't intend to carry it. read more

After a 20-minute wait, we was seated under their covered patio which was comfortable even when the sun intermittently disappeared. Our server was perfectly lovely, but his check-ins with my table were few & far between, I suspect due to being short-staffed. My bf ordered a lunch duo of Chicken & Waffles (looked to be a half order) & cup of Jambalaya which was very good. This visit, my boyfriend and I both ordered the crab cake Benedict. Flavor-wise, it's definitely a standout rich, savory, and exactly what you want from a brunch dish like that. The restaurant was busy, but we were seated pretty quickly, which I appreciated. The ambiance is great for a brunch date lively but still comfortable. The only downside this time was the wait for the food. It took a little longer than expected, and by the time it arrived we were pretty hungry. Stopped in here for brunch the other day and I was a bit underwhelmed. We parked right in the front on the street, which now has to be paid for. We got seated right away and I got the traditional breakfast with a waffle on the side. The breakfast was just ok. I would've liked the eggs to be more fluffy, and my toast was soggy. I wouldn't also liked the potatoes and bacon to be a bit lore crispy. The waffle was very yummy though, it was perfectly warm and crispy. Parking lot of close by and free which is nice. Took my friend here for her birthday brunch. She got a bloody Mary which she said was super good. So got two of those. I got a lavender drink with Saint Germaine and champagne and a tequila mule. Both were on the sweet side but still good flavor. So the downside is there is only one salad on the menu. There should be at least two. We both got the chicken Cobb with with grilled chicken. I am glad you could sub grilled for the fried to make it healthier. It came with a honey mustard dressing which was good but it wasnt Cobb dressing which is typically blue cheese. Still overall it was a good salad. I feel like people don't understand how to properly review places. Of your food taste good but issue is temperature it doesn't equate to a 1 star review lol. So far, great experience even though it was during rush hour breakfast / brunch on a Saturday. 15-20 minute wait host was accurate about. We sat down and were handed menus to look over then a waiter (Charles) came to the table reasonable amount of time for us to look and decide what we wanted. He helped guide us and helped us choose what was tasty. He wasn't wrong! Eggs Benedict were top notch, the pancakes were amazing and moist, my partner had shrimp and crawfish omelette that he suggested, and it was amazing! He was at tentative but at the same time, not too much. The food came out very quickly. The temperature was perfect and it was her first time here and we had such a great experience. I just don't understand how people review places with a one star when there's only one thing that's wrong with the establishment and that could be fixed if you send back your food for them to fix. Lots of options to choose from on the menu, most of us went with the seasonal options. Our drinks werent ideal which made us dubious about the meals. Coffees came out lukewarm and too bitter while my mocktail, the strawberry lemonade spritzer was subtle. Reminded me more of how a watermelon-based drink would taste. For food, we had the Louisiana benedict, the corned beef and Brussels hash, and the apple fritter French toast. The benedict was disappointing. It was supposed to have hollandaise sauce but either a minimal amount was placed or it was forgotten. By the time we were checked on, i didnt want to bother bringing it up. The accompanying large portion of potatoes could have used some seasoning so I used a generous amount of the vinegar bottle. The star was the Apple Fritter French toast!! Another Broken Egg is easy to locate near Burbank Courthouse and there's two hour parking in the surrounding area. The patio is spacious and there is a lot of indoor seating. The bar area is very nice and the service from Itzel was friendly, thorough, and attentive. The chilaquiles, pancakes, cold brew & drip coffees, and Crab Cake Benedict were all good choices. They should have called this place "Sit on Your Thumbs While You Wait and Wait Family Friendly Breakfast and Brunch Restaurant." The ambiance is about what you'd expect from a breakfast and lunch establishment. They have seating inside, as well as plenty of shaded tables on the outdoor patio. Considering the area where this restaurant is located, parking is another challenge. You'll have to pay for street parking or use a nearby parking lot. I had this place saved for a long time, and when I was finally in town I was excited to stop by. They only serve breakfast and are open from 7am to 2pm. We arrived on a Sunday around 11:15am and were told the wait would be about 20 minutes. It ended up being closer to 45 minutes, but I understood it was a busy day and tried to be patient. The harder part was the service after we were seated. I am not sure if the kitchen was short staffed, but the food took a very long time to come out. From the moment we arrived to the time we left, we were there nearly two hours, which felt like a lot for breakfast. If you plan to visit on a weekend, it helps to leave extra time. Came here for breakfast hoping for easy allergy friendly options- I remembered a friend loving this spot for their gluten free options years ago. This place is very accommodating for gluten free, but not so prepped for other allergies! I was able to talk with a server and confirm which items wouldn't be prepared with milk or butter (milk allergy), and ended up doing a sandwich subbing the focaccia bread (which would probably taste awesome!) for normal toast. My bf is blessed with no dietary restrictions and thoroughly enjoyed the lemon blueberry goat cheese pancakes! He said the flavor was great. I appreciate the staff trying to help me find options I could have- I'm pretty knowledgeable on what is generally safe at most restaurants and was happy to make it work with some slight modifications. I ordered from the fresh for the summer menu which I guess is a special for summer. I ordered French Toast Colada, it tasted really good. It had a different flavor, but was very flavorful. We also ordered omelet which they usually come with a side. For side we picked country potatoes which were good. No complaints. This location offers refills for the regular coffee which it is a nice touch. Our server was so friendly and attentive. He answered all the questions I had. He kept filling my coffee whenever he noticed I was half done with it. Really appreciate it. This location has both dine in and outdoor seating area. There is plenty of seating area for the people who prefers indoors. Outdoor is nice too and there is plenty of seats. Parking can be a challenge. I had an unfortunate time here. My partner's dish was excellent (chorizo and avocado omelette), but I ordered the crab cakes Benedict and they were... iffy. They weren't as hot and fresh as you'd expect, and they tasted less like crispy succulent crab and more like a fishy mince. I only ate about 1/3 of one of them before I gave up and pilfered from my partner's plate. Eggs, sausage, fries, toast(I've noticed they serve English muffins a lot in Ca now) and coffee. The sausage was inedible, smelled weird and tasted weird. The fries tasted like they had freezer burn and was only the shell of the potato. Plus they put a ton of salt. My daughter ordered this same and had the same experience. But the place was cute and the server was super friendly. I let her know about the issues and she offered a replacement but I don't usually accept replacements since the mood is usually ruined by then. Will I try again?? Probably not. But never say never. We didn't wait long before our table was ready. Our server, Juan, came over quickly and offered us water as we looked over the menu. The menu is not as extensive, which is good because it makes it easier for me to decide on what I want to eat. I ordered their "Hey Lucy" omelette, which is made with chorizo, onions, and green chilies, omelette, topped with Cheddar Jack cheese and avocado. Sides of salsa and sour cream. Our waitress, Lindsay, was extremely helpful and friendly with helping us out with nutrition information. When we placed our order, we asked the waitress how long it would take to get his food out, since we have to coordinate his insulin shot with when the food comes out. She said about 15-20 minutes, which is exactly how much time he needed to pre-bolus before his meal. I was very impressed when the food came out 3 minutes before his pre-bolus timer was up; talk about great timing! Our waitress, Lindsay, did an amazing job with ensuring his food got to us so he could eat before his pre-bolus timer was done. For any parent that has to juggle giving insulin shots (not the pump) before a meal, you know how critical timing is. My son had the kids chocolate chip pancakes meal, and our waitress brought him out sugar-free syrup. From the seasonal menu, I ordered the Deep South Biscuit Sandwich (fried chicken tenders with pimento cheese, over-medium egg, and bacon jam on an oversized biscuit). The Deep South Biscuit Sandwich was very good! My only takeaway from it was that the biscuit comes apart pretty easily, so it's hard to hold and eat like a sandwich. I gave up and just used my fork & knife. Also, per the seasonal menu recommendation with the Deep South Biscuit Sandwich, I ordered the Pineapple Berry Agua Fresca, and it was delicious.
