Beautiful interior and back patio, whose vibes btw felt more like beachy Tulúm, Mexico -- it didn't match the warm, bricky atmosphere of the interior, but it worked and it was cozy and inviting. There's a fireplace. We loved that the drink menu was categorized as "whiskey cocktails" vs everything else. We ordered 4 different cocktails and everything was well-balanced and delicious. There's also a nice wine list. We started with a bowl of crab bisque -- excellent. We then had the wagyu beef bolognese -- this was good, but not spectacular. We found the papaparadelle slightly overcooked and we thought the English peas were unnecessary. The dish as a whole needed more of a zing as the flavor in general was rather monotonous. We also had the 8 oz filet mignon (medium rare) with Bearnaise sauce alongside grilled broccolini with miso vinaigrette. Wow -- the broccolini was so delicious -- crunchy yet tender with that miso tang -- we enjoyed this more than the steak itself. The steak, though seared and prepared to our liking, was good, but not mind-blowing. If you want mind-blowing filet mignon, book a res at Firefly in Studio City -- the BEST damn filet mignons in Los Angeles, hands-down!! The Bearnaise itself was all right. I typically love Bearnaise for its rich, creamy, tarragon-forward yumminess. It's a child of Hollandaise sauce, and who doesn't like Hollandaise? But the Bearnaise here was nothing special. In fact, there had to be something off about it as at 3:30 AM the next day, my stomach felt unsettled and I had diarrhea. Dinner here was the last meal we ate. My bestie, who dined with me, also said she had some stomach issues following our meal. There are eggs in Bearnaise, and maybe they were bad. Our server was attentive, but not all that conversational. He basically came, took our order, checked in on our drinks, we ordered more drinks, and he cleared our plates. That was it. He never even offered us a dessert menu! We're not big on sweets, but it would have been nice to see what they had for post-dinner treats. Book a res and specify whether or not you want indoors or outdoors -- I wasn't given a choice at the time I made a last minute res. There is plenty of free street parking just outside the restaurant. We decided to show up around 6 shortly after they open just in case they accept walk ins. We were greeted by the hostess and she asked if we had a reservation! luckily there were 2 seats available at the bar. Ambiance- dim lit, not too loud good balance of upscale yet casual. I ordered waygu New York. It was so tender paired with a port wine bordelaise. Steak was just fine without sauce. My brother ordered the 16oz ribeye- cooked medium. He tried the bearnaise and blue cheese mornay. We shared 2 sides- Caesar Brussel sprouts... they were shredded and topped with bread crumbs. I loved them just a tad on the salty side. Fingerlings with bacon and cheese. Finger licking good. Customer service was great! Even one of the co owners stopped by a couple times to see how we enjoyed the experience. Five stars hands down! From the food, to the ambiance, to the excellent service, this place has it all. We sat at the bar and caught the end of happy hour for a 10$ craft cocktail. They had a prefix menu for dinela which was what lured us to try this spot. The food was so good. We had a crab cake, filet mignon with mash potatoes and asparagus, and bread pudding with vanilla ice cream for dessert. We also tried the baby gem Caesar which was also perfect. One of the owners came to introduce himself and his wife which was so nice. Everyone was very friendly and personable including the bartender, Joey. Porterhouse has the energy of very lively steakhouse/whiskey bar. I love that it features bourbon so prominently as that is my poison of choice. I especially loved the Revolvers, with their blend of bourbon and coffee liquer. My steak was excellent. I normally get a ribeye but 22 oz. is a bit out of my comfort zone. The 12 oz. wagyu New York, though not my favorite cut, turned out to be exquisite and will probably be my usual coming here. The fingerling potatoes and the bleu cheese spinach were perfect accompaniments. Lastly the butterscotch pot du crème was a perfect capper. I found this hidden gem of a steakhouse in El Segundo and took my wife and 6 year old son there for her Mother's Day dinner over the weekend. This place did not disappoint! The service and food were both amazing. We had a wonderful dinner there and the perfect Mother's Day celebration. The service is top notch and our server Erin was absolutely amazing. She made us feel right at home and was always on top of her game staying one step ahead of us to provide us with everything we needed. She made my wife feel extra special for Mother's Day and was super sweet to my son. Thank you Erin! You're the best :) The food was perfectly prepared and we especially liked the fatty tuna, beef tartare, Australian wagyu steak (rare) and cream spinach. Wow, this place has such a great vibe! The dim, mood lighting combined with the great service made the experience extremely enjoyable. I came with a large group, so we ordered a lot! We started with the oysters, and then shared some asparagus and mashed potatoes alongside my individual ribeye steak. The oysters tasted extremely fresh and were already sauced to taste. While I'm used to having the ability to adjust the amount of citrus and horseradish for myself, the oysters came prepared and were perfect to my expectation. I loved a good ribeye, and they delivered by cooking it to perfection. The only complaint (and I'm nitpicking here) is that I'm used to getting ribeyes from Costco, which are twice as thick. Again, a personal preference so I won't dock them for it. The sides of mashed potatoes, Brussel sprouts, and asparagus were all delicious. I want to highlight the mashed potatoes and Brussel sprouts as must gets! They were decadently laced with cream and butter to make each bite soft and delicious and the Brussel sprouts were topped with bread crumbs to provide a crunch that paired perfectly with the parmesan cheese covered sprouts. This place is quite pricey, so I would personally go if I was celebrating something important, but to each their own. We just had the BEST New Year's Eve dinner at Porterhouse. Normally, we shy away from restaurants on NYE, with their overpriced and mediocre pre-fix dinners, but, luckily, we ended up at Porterhouse which was offering their normal a la carte menu. The menu is very extensive and every item was so tempting. The restaurant itself is gorgeous (beautiful lighting, brick walls and stunning bar) and our server, George, was great. And it wouldn't have been half as amazing if it weren't for Ricky, the manager. He made us feel so welcome and made sure our night was impeccable. The cocktails were phenomenal , especially one called the Apiary (Ricky invented it, of course) which was a true work of art for the eyes and taste buds. Every dish we ordered was out of this world and cooked to perfection - wagyu steak tartare, tuna tartare, fried oysters, wedge salad, wagyu filet mignon, asparagus, broccolini and mushrooms. This was a really cute snazzy place in the south bay, definitely a little pricey, but not too bad considering the area. They were able to get us in as a party of 5 on the walkup list, which was great, and all of the staff were kind and attentive. From the hostess to our server to the manager who checked in on us; everyone we came into contact with was super professional and friendly. Food was good and serving size was decent. STEAKS: This place has some great steak! My table got the ribeye (medium +) and the wagyu New York (medium). The ribeye was pretty average for how steaks come; I got a pretty fatty/cartilage marbled cut. The wagyu was amazing though. The first bite melted in my mouth. Unfortunately I'm guessing that steaks have to be eaten quickly or else they get cold and tough; like after 10 minutes. They should definitely serve a hot plate under the steak so that it stays warm. It was surprisingly good. The French fries (off menu) were a 6/10. They were dry. The fingerling potatoes were a 6/10. They were also dry but the bacon on top was a 9/10. The mash potatoes were a 7/10. Pretty basic garlic mash potatoes. The street corn was a 3/10. The more I ate it the more I thought I liked it then the more I ate the more I realized I absolutely hate it. The desserts are all good. Solid 9/10, except the butterscotch 11/10. Heck, Korean bbq meat is better than this dining establishment. I asked the waiter what Porterhouse restaurant is known for. He highly recommended the ribeye. I love ribeye. Let's go for it! Highly disappointing. Big cut of meat, but if 90 percent of it is tough and rare ( I ordered medium), there's really not much to eat. Our waiter was present when we ordered and right after the food was served, but never came around again. So I couldn't tell him about the undercooked and underwhelming ribeye. The Caesar salad was a presentation in itself. 5 star for presentation. But peel off the top layers, and you're staring at a naked Caesar salad with no dressing or cheese or anchovies from the second layer on down to the bottom. They took it away and didn't even ask if I wanted more dressing, and it was obviously undressed!! Asparagus. Top half good, bottom half, can't even eat it. Tough and chewy. The fact that I asked for a to go box for the steak and asparagus didn't even don on them to ask if the food was ok ...wow! On top of that, they didn't even box the sauce that was $5 extra. Normally, a good steak doesn't need sauce, but this needed that and more. Hmmmmm, maybe if we paid another $5, we would have had more Caesar dressing. Took my maiden voyage to Porterhouse to celebrate a little business victory and brought the fam along. What an excellent dinner we all had. Appetizers, main courses and even some delicious bread for dessert. Wish we had got the bread with the main courses, but I made the mistake of trying to be low carb on this visit and that was my error. (Get the bread rolls; they're legendary) She had the wagyu braised cheek, he had a New York strip steak, and I had their ribeye steak. We had the horseradish mashed potatoes as a side and we kicked things off with their fried oysters. Oh, and of course, some excellent wine. And a gourmet iceberg salad.
