    Pork Bowl

Great spot for a quick meal, whether that is lunch or dinner. When you walk in you order at the counter and the employees are very helpful with questions you may have and they are very kind. I got one of the bowls and the portion was great. We also ordered the kids chicken tenders with the mac and cheese side and they were a hit. The ambiance is very casual so it was nice for a quick bite during work with coworkers.

The food was delicious. Our favorite were the half rack of ribs that had lots of flavor to them was super good. We also enjoyed the brisket and sausage. The pulled pork was good as well as the pulled chicken. For sides, we got mac & cheese, mashed potatoes and gravy, and barbecue beans. We wanted to try a little of everything so we got the brownie with ice cream as well as the banana pudding. We would pass on the banana pudding next time due to its artificial flavor, but all in all the dining experience was great. We've come in a couple of times and always enjoyed the food. Today we came a little earlier in the evening and they asked us if we wanted to dine in or take it to go, I was taken a back. I was not aware that there was a dining room because it's tucked away around down the hall, but it was very cute. The dining room is giving Texas vibes with the very laid-back atmosphere and the wood on the walls and the American flag hung. Our family of 3 enjoyed all of this for $80. We have plenty of leftovers. Worth it!!

The customer service is great with a friendly neighborhood greeting and warmth. The first round of brisket was cold, dry and tough, even after initially requesting "moist" which is typically "the point" of the brisket. However, I was served the brisket "flat" cut that was so dry the cut surface of the meat had a crust. Since I believe in second chances, I returned my plate of meat to the crew and politely asked for a "redo" with 1/2 lb of moist, tender and warm slices of the brisket point. They were so hospitable and accommodating that I was truly touched by their sincerity. So glad we worked through the first round because the "redo" was great! Regarding the side dishes, the curly fries were hot, crisp and tasty while the Mac & Cheese was mushy and without flavor. I will say the attentive women behind the counter offered to replace my side dishes as well, but I didn't feel the need to do so as the fries were so good. Out of respect for the corrective action of the crew, I'm only posting the photos of the brisket "redo" and the fries. Thanks gang, I'll be back!

Don't pass up this spot!! Great bbq!!! The majority of our party did the 3 meat 2 side meals. Food was quick to the table, ordering was easy and the food was enjoyed by all. The brisket was my favorite though the chicken and pulled work were easily just as good. The sides were good too. I enjoyed the Mac n cheese was great as well as the slaw which was crunchy not soggy. Bonus surprise was the fresh chocolate walnut cookies that they gave us at no charge. The dining area was had a food hall vibe that they did the best the cod do with the style of building it was in. I'd go back in a moment!

Every time I visit Arizona we go to this restaurant. Food is always delicious! This time I went with the brisket bowl and I def recommend that! Brisket had great flavor and the mash potatoes are my favorite!

Been on my radar for a while, I finally tried POAF. The brisket was very tasty, a couple fatty pieces but generally soft and tender. Loved the Smokey flavour. The mashed potatoes were tasty as well. A little bit of an odd location for a restaurant near the DV airport. I'd recommend.

I truly want to give them a three the brisket had way too much fat on it. 50% of the meat was fat Kool-Aid watery and mac & cheese bland has potential just needs a spark.

On arrival I was greeted by very friendly employees.  We went for the picnic pack as there was a lot of meats to try. Sausage had a nice snap and was juicy and full of flavor.  One of my favorite meats. Brisket was lean and the dry rub had a nice peppery flavor. Pulled pork was tender and juicy.  Light smoky flavor made very tasty with the addition of a bit of sweet sauce. Chicken was tender and juicy with a light smoky flavor. They have some different sauces here with my favorite being the sweet sauce.  Employees told me they smoked their meats with a mix of hickory and pecan wood.  Place has a huge dining room in the back. One thing that made me very happy here was the drink selection.  They have Hires Root Beer which was my favorite drink when I was a kid.  Hires has a sweet root beer flavor and lots of foam which I love.

I stopped by Caldwell County BBQ for dinner on a Saturday evening. Located in Gilbert, I found…read morestreet parking right in front of the restaurant despite it being quite busy. I'll preface this review by saying I have very high standards when it comes to BBQ. I am from Houston after all. Caldwell County BBQ very much lived up to the hype. It's no surprise their reviews are so good. Ambiance (5/5): Caldwell County BBQ serves Texas-style BBQ. I felt right at home. There's a lot of Texan decor and the sort of ambiance you would expect at a BBQ joint. It's a spacious restaurant with plenty of seating outside and a decent amount of seating inside. We sat inside. One of the things they do well is keeping the A/C blasting both indoors and outdoors (while you're likely going to wait in line) along with misters. Definitely something you need in Phoenix! Service (4/5): I hate waiting in line. Though it's not unusual at popular BBQ spots, I still wish places like this would hire a couple of more people to make the line move faster (or even completely eliminate the lines). We probably waited in line for about 20 minutes. They have a water cooler along the route, but it was all out. Something the staff should check on a little more frequently. With all this being said, Caldwell County is well worth the wait. Drinks (5/5): Whenever I'm at a BBQ joint, I'm looking for sweet tea. Which they have here. Plus your standard assortment of soft drinks and alcohol, with a focus on beer. Food (5/5): BBQ joints typically have you pay by weight or by plates (one meat, two meats, three meats, etc.). Caldwell does it by the pound unless you go with a sandwich, loaded baked potato, etc. What's nice is they also have a family pack for 4 which comes with brisket, pulled pork, and your choice of ribs, sausage, or one other protein which is escaping me. Plus two large pint-size sides. We rolled with this option as it's a good deal (brisket, pulled pork, and St. Louis style ribs with corn casserole and mac and cheese). White bread, pickles, onions, and jalapenos are available free of charge. There are three BBQ sauces at each table: their classic BBQ, spicy, and AZ gold). We also added a quarter pound of the AZ burnt ends. Man, these are some quality meats. Brisket is the true test of Texas BBQ and the shining star. The brisket here isn't the best I've ever had but it's quite respectable. The sweet and spicy AZ burnt ends were delicious too. The ribs were tender and had a nice sweet glaze on them. The pulled pork was my least favorite, but still quite good. The sides are solid, though they could be a bit better. The mac and cheese was too peppery for my taste and the corn casserole was too sweet. Like pretty much all craft BBQ these days, Caldwell County BBQ isn't cheap. But the quality is there. This is the type of place that I would come back to again and again. They also have a location in Peoria though this one is the original. And I hear they don't run out of meats as other BBQ joints do (especially in Texas). That's a big plus! It's always a bummer when a BBQ joint is out of something you want. If you haven't been to Caldwell County BBQ, change that quick. Yeehaw!

Ordered the turkey and jalapeno sausage with a side of bbq beans. Has a selection of six different bbq sauces at the table. I wasn't too impressed with any of them. There is a mustard sauce up by the drinks that was pretty tasty tho. The turkey was dry. The sausage had decent spices but the skin was a little tough. Neither had a bbq/smoky taste. The beans tasted like canned pork and beans with sugar and bits of brisket added. All and all I wasn't too impressed and probably won't be back. The brisket was further flavored choosing one or more of the three sauces: sweet hot ish BBQ, sweet mustard sauce and one more flavor. My top taste of the meal was prickly pear lemonade. Going back for a refill I found 2/3 lemonade and 1/3 prickly pear made my perfect BBQ beverage. The peppery beans with another serving of pulled meat mixed in improved on my palate with sweet sauce added. The mustard sauce was recommended for our sandwich. It was a good addition. Will the family return here to dine? I'll write another review when we come back.
