Ponzio's can be a little difficult to navigate to from 295 to Route 70 towards CHerry Hill, as you have to take a jug-handle and enter from behind the CVS...but it's worth the roundabout. We went in right around the breakfast/lunch break. Had some French Onion Soup and the Fish Tacos with the Mango Salsa (lunch special). The Soup was fresh and had a nice amount of cheese and bread with it. I would get it again. The FISH TACOS...BOOM! They were Awesome! Put a little Choluhla (hot sauce) on them. The Mango Salsa was so fresh and delicious. I had been here once a few years ago and got a chicken cutlet with provolone and broccoli rabe and I remember it was great. Having grown up in NJ, this establishment was like the BJs of all NJ diners, just to compare... we walked in and waited at the "wait to be seated" sign where several employees looked at us without ever having even greeted us. Finally, a manager (presumably) walked by and asked if we were being helped. I ordered the creamed chipped beef which was lacking in flavor. It tasted like someone had added thickener to cream and put some beef strips in there. Then, as we were waiting to pay at the counter, the woman was either finishing a phone call or a voice to text before acknowledging us and ringing us up, then uttered a mere "thanks" as we headed out. NJ diners have always been friendly with a lively atmosphere but walking in here was like entering a corporate office on a Monday morning after the Eagles lost the Super Bowl. I am impressed , I didn't know what to expect as I am not from NJ. When arriving we noticed the parking lot full and people walking in so that was a good thing. The restaurant has a very good exterior (the building is beautiful) which when entering it was also very beautiful! The staff were dressed very nicely , and the inside was noticeably clean. There were groups waiting so we assumed our group of 3 would not be seated instantly, we were wrong and seated soon as we approached the podium. Our server Sharon was amazing ! I was appalled today at this diner. They charged me an extra $.90 for a very small dollop of whipped cream on my dessert. I've gotten the same thing before and was never charged extra. They should be ashamed. When I was paying I said something to the girl. She said nothing in acknowledgment of my concern. Then after I paid I said it's even more shameful that she did nothing about it. She said I would have to speak with a manager. I asked her why didn't she get the manager. This was my first experience coming here and I can assure you that I will not be coming back. My friend and I got Easter cupcakes from here and they were not presentable after walking out of the door. The woman who put the cupcakes in the container had each of the cupcakes overlap one another so that the ears or feet of one cupcake was touching another cupcake. So it messed the cupcakes up to the point that even the frosting and marshmallow was no longer on the cupcake. My friend went back to Ponzio's and expressed her concerns to the same woman at the counter and even showed her what the cupcakes looked like. The woman told her that there was nothing that she could do except ring her up for more cupcakes. Her response demonstrated a lack of customer concern and a lack of respect. As a customer, I am disappointed that this business fails to provide customers with empathy and and even more upset that they chose to not handle their packaging with care. Went at 6pm Sunday night. Ordered 4 prime ribs at varying temperatures. Waitress came back telling us they only had well done. After after agreeing to the new temp, the waitress then came back saying they had ONE prime rib left. We ordered the NY strips instead and they ALL came out overcooked anyway. Waitress told us they were out of sweet potatoes as everyone was getting their food. My flounder was saltier than the sea it came from. Chicken wings were super greasy, burger was also over cooked and the crab cake had turned flavor. After spending $200 I need to say goodbye to my favorite establishment. There are many diners in the area between Cherry Hill to upper Burlington County. I have been to several and I have my favorite two or three. Here's the deal. All have very good food but only Ponzio's is open later -- especially on Friday and Saturday nights. My other "go to" spot closes at 8 PM while Ponzio's is open for dinner weekends until 10 PM!!! We are "almost" senior citizens, but we do NOT search out the Early Bird dinner specials. I enjoy showing up to Ponzio's at around 8:30 pm on a Friday or Saturday night, and often have to wait 10 minutes or so for a booth. Servers have been consistently same ladies and super efficient, and we never felt rushed through a meal because they were getting ready to close. Oh, and don't get me started on those DESSERTS! Often, we order two To Go and they box them up nicely for us. Sometimes, the dessert boxes are larger than the metal dishes we get for our leftovers. read more

I have lived almost my entire life in Cherry Hill and Ponzio's has been here as long as I can remember. Over the years, it has been remodeled and grown on its original Ellisburg Circle location. The circle is gone but thankfully not Ponzio's. I have been to Ponzio's over the years for numerous different occasions. With the passing of Olga's, Ponzio's is one of the last old school diners in the immediate Cherry Hill area. They have been in operation for over 50 years. My brother and my two nieces were in town for Thanksgiving and we needed to get something to eat to hold us over until dinner. We headed over to Ponzio's and it was fairly crowded with other people with the same idea and runners getting a post Turkey Trot lunch. We had eggs Benedict and pumpkin pancakes. Everyone was happy with his or her meals and service was very good. My brother was also surprised about how reasonable the total bill was as he is used to NYC prices. People love their cakes and desserts also. Over the years Ponzio's consistency has always been very good. In a state full of diners, Ponzio's is a good one. Tip - The main dining area near the cashier has the most authentic diner feel if looking for that. read more

I have had the pastries from Ponzio's on multiple occasions, and they have always been fantastic. I love their black and white cake. It is probably one of the best cakes from a bakery, restaurant, or food store that I have ever had. I had never actually gone to eat at Ponzio's until two weeks ago. I had the chicken and waffles and I thought that it was just okay. I also had a chance to try the Ponzio's French toast and I thought that it was pretty good, but definitely not the best I've had. Ponzio's is really half diner and half restaurant. It's huge -- not a traditional diner car by any means. It has five different dining rooms and runs with the efficiency of a major train station. It's fun while you wait for your table to oggle at the beautiful bakery case up front. The cannolis are wonderful, and you would really be amazed and impressed I think to see the bakery operation here. They have cookies, cupcakes, whole cakes and pies, etc. Once you get seated, you are presented with a huge menu of options, including breakfast all day. This is the way I think that Ponzio's is most reminiscent of a traditional diner. The breakfast here is solid thought he menu for breakfast all day isn't super huge. It definitely does the job, though. Other options range from seafood to burgers to open faced sandwiches. By far, one of the best things about Ponzios is the wonderful bread basket that you get at your table... delicious yummy things worth taking home with your left overs! They also have beer on tap (more restaurant like than diner like). And of course the desserts are amazing if you have room left. This place should get ten stars. Our server tonight 12/11/20 was Liz. She is a pleasant lady, who takes pride in what she's serving to customers. She anticipated our need, didn't keep us waiting and was friendly with not only my table but every table she had. I had eggplant parm, and it was perfect. Big thick slices, not soggy and perfectly adorned with breading and sauce. DELICIOUS. The onion soup was perfect. The food was served piping hot. The cheesesteak had a good amount of meat and cheese on it. Overall we are very, very pleased. We decided to make this a once a week dinner spot and we live about 20 minutes away. SO GOOD. Stopped off here for breakfast Monday. Honestly, I have passed this restaurant a few times and never even noticed it, its a big stone facade building with no real decor that says "here I am" and unless you are looking for the Ponzio's sign, you will drive right past it, especially if you are focused on the highway signs right directly across the intersection. As I was being walked to my table I noticed a very nice bakery counter, with lots of cupcakes, cookies, cakes and tarts, reminded me a little bit of Polly's Pies. Server brought coffee over and it was exactly what I needed to get the morning going, I ordered the 5 stack pancakes with crispy bacon. Pancakes looked great, fluffy and golden, I was surprised there wasn't a little scoop of butter on top, instead it was a small packet of butter on a coffee saucer with a mini pitcher of maple syrup. I have to say, every few bites the pancakes seemed kinda crunchy, like the batter wasn't blended well, maybe griddle bits or there were ground egg shells anyway- I didn't finish my order. I used to love Ponzio's and always thought it was great; however, today changed that opinion. My dining partner and I both ordered eggs and scrapple. I asked for both the scrambled eggs and the scrapple to be very well done - like burnt well done. I asked if they did "cubed scrapple" which is where the scrapple is cut into cubes and then deep fried but the waitress had never heard of it and said no, the scrapple is pre-cut and you can't change it. Okay - fine - just make sure it's very well done please. When the food was delivered, the eggs were still raw in the middle and the scrapple was anything but cooked well done. I did get new eggs but just left the scrapple on the plate and didn't eat it - I didn't want to send back something else! Also, the bagel came with two little containers of butter but one, when I opened it, was empty. Ponzio's is pricey and I knew that going in, but $48 ($40 for the 2 breakfasts and 2 coffees and $8 for a tip) for breakfast was way too much for me when one of us didn't get what we asked for and the food was subpar. read more

I just bought 2 lbs of butter cookies from their bakery.. they are usually my favorite.. they usually have nice golden color with a crisp texture to them.. i just got them home and they are underbaked and soft.. not only that but i called to let them know and see if I could get a credit for a future purchase.. didnt even ask for my money back.. and the rudest manager got on the phone and said we dont make crispy cookies and what do you want from me? Bring them back and i'll give you 2 lbs of the same cookies.. nice way to treat a customer.. i wont be going back.. read more

It's funny... I never feel like a snotty San Franciscan until I go to a place like Ponzios that just brings you back down to earth. My mom is obsessed with this place. She lives in Montgomery County, PA where I grew up and whenever i go home, she makes me drive almost an hour to eat here. She loves snapper soup. And there aren't a lot of places that makes this philadelphia area traditional soup anymore. The only other place we know has it is this place by our neighborhood called the Spring-something-something Inn... and I refuse to go there because clearly they are a bunch of old white people who are... not nice to asians. This is how being at places like Ponzios brings me back to earth. In San Francisco, I live in a bubble. There are asians and people of all types everywhere. At Ponzios, I am in the heart of Jersey with very Jersey people... who are ....not asian. And just generally not the same. It's strange because I grew up more or less around it, but it's such a weird juxtaposition when I come home to it. I always make it a point to annunicate my english words very well at a place like this.... as if to say, "Yes, I can speak perfect english!" And I can use the word "juxtaposition" in a sentence! The only bread that you get with your meal in SF is sourdough. Unlike at Ponzios, they give you a basket of all types of bread - soft buns, and bread sticks and bread that isn't even bread... it's more like a danish. So coming home and eating snapper soup which they do very very well at Ponzios, it's weird. I like that they give you a huge shot of sherry with your Snapper soup, which I dump all of in my soup. Man... old school.... It makes me feel weird, but there is a nostalgia to coming here. It's awkward, but a good awkward. An awkward that keeps me real. There just isn't a place like this in SF. After about 2 years I thought I'd tried Ponzios diner again. The dinner I had was good no complaints. On the way out I passed their bakery and purchased 2 corn muffins. They were $4 per or 2 were $8.00 which I thought was outrageous and when we ate them the next morning they were stale. Some restaurants really don't care about their product. Money $ is the only thing that counts and this is one of those places. You can tell by the amount of customers in the place that their day is gone. read more

When you first walk in, it's difficult to take your eyes off of the huge dessert display. I ended up getting the fruit tart which is the best I've ever had. It's contains the right balance of sweetness and tartness. The fruit looks fresh. I give 5 stars to Ponzios if I was only rating this tart. I ended up ordering the Gobbler special which came with sweet potato fries (delicious!). The Gobbler was pretty good. They do give you a nice portion and it was like a turkey dinner in one sandwich. I would definitely order this again. I ended up taking half of my sandwich home but I'm a light eater. My husband ended up ordering some bacon burger and he gobbled it down. It did come out pretty rare when they first brought it out. I don't know how they could have missed that since they cut the sandwich in half before sending it out so was a little annoyed that we had to send it back. This is something minor but we asked for water with lemon when we first were seated. The waitress brought out our water immediately but forgot the lemon. I politely asked her for lemon and she stated that she doesn't put lemon into the water unless the customer asks. I'm pretty sure I asked for lemon and so did husband. Our mozzarella appetizer ended up coming out the same time as our entree. Considering we had to wait for a burger, would have been nice to have received the appetizer to ease our hunger. Our server was wonderful otherwise. She apologized several times about the undercooked burger and had it corrected immediately.
