As a long time resident in South Jersey, Ponzio's Diner had always been the staple diner, which is saying a lot with so many in the area. SJ Diners are the best place to go for breakfast Except this last time that I went for breakfast at Ponzio's. The coffee was luke warm and not great. I ordered French Toast with a side of Italian sausage. The French Toast was deep fried, which sounded good. Wasn't. No presentation. Just 4 pieces of bread on a plate. Very hard, not that tasty. Still it was eatable. I have never in my life not enjoyed Italian sausage. I took one bite and had to discard it in a napkin. It just had a fowl taste, like it may have been expired. I learned a long time ago not to complain in a restaurant and send it back. So, as I proceeded to cash out at the register, I was waiting to get the customary "Was everything all right" as I've gotten thousands of times at diners. This time she took my money without saying a word and gave me my change. I told her about my bad experience with the sausage, and she said. "Ok, fine, thank you." I said that I wanted to talk to the manager and she pointed him out. I told him that the sausage didn't taste right and that he should investigated. He didn't apologize or attempt to compensate me and said, everyone eats the sausage here and they like it." I said that they won't like it long if they get food poising. He just didn't seem to take it seriously. Diners have been closing recently, and I am starting to see why. read more

Ample parking Had to our name on waitlist, about 15 mins Our server was awesome, friendly and super energetic. Our meals were okay, the avocado on my sandwich was not ripe. I would've preferred not having it rather than be given a bad one. Good had flavor and didn't take long to come. Our server was kind enough to even sing happy birthday for someone in our party. I don't understand the 3 stars. We come from Philly to eat here. We used to be Olga's devotees. (They still thee best cream of chicken soup!) But, Ponzio's has a bar. So...yeah. Lol. We come often enough, but it's my 1st breakfast today. The portions are huge, as usual. My breakfast cocktail is delicious! I wish they (& others) offered portion sizes. I would have loved 1 slice of bread & 1/2 everything else. For $10.99 & NO eggs included...meh. I would have paid the same for less on my plate & include an egg. Also, I'm benedict addicted, & they're only offered on the weekends/holidays. Had I known, I wouldn't have come in, but that's me & my Hollandaise dependency. Anyway- the have the BEST chicken croquettes (get an extra side of mashed) & eggplant parm ANYWHERE! Also, the cheesesteaks are FABULOUS & unexpectedly so. The odor that hit us in the face as soon as we walked in had my stomach turn. Musty mildew that was so strong we couldn't even stay. Was there a few months ago and could smell it a little and now it's just God awful. Brought it to hostess attention and she says "she doesn't use the front door and doesn't smell it" which I found hard to believe. I went to Ponzio's with my husband and daughter we each had a cup of soup and my husband ordered a beer and chicken wing appetizer and the bill was $60. This place has gone down hill. Me and the boys pulled up at Ponzio's and it was fantastic. I will occasionally stop by at Ponzio's and the breakfast and lunch food is tasteful. Last time I arrived I bought a cheesesteak and it was a perfect traditional Philly cheesesteak. I was discouraged that it would taste good compared to classic cheesesteaks but it slapped! I love how they have different rooms and very tasty looking baked goods. I really like how Ponzio's has a very classic look from the in and out. This is a hype stop and I would recommend to anyone. This time prices are jumping up the food is a complete 180 insertions example the open face turkey platter jumped up fro. $16.95 to $20. The portion before was enough but this new ownership is skimping the turkey was very thinly sliced 2 pieces that could feed you cat maybe...the stuffing was reduced to less than a 6oz cup. The French fries were warm i asked about getting fresh hot ones and then they were put on a small plate.i.went from the adult meal to the child's portion the only thing was normal looking was the bread basket. These new owners are from India and maybe they eat in much smaller portions but this was pathetic. I have to say I will never go back. If you like paying $17 for a 6 inch cheese steak and a $15 to $21dollar cheeseburger it's time to call it quits its not the waitresses or waiters. watch your prices on the menu here i was charged with drink & tax $28. Ponzio's remains on my great-list. It's been eons since I've been there in person, but I trusted them with my Thanksgiving dinner. They had a very easy process of an online order, phone call confirmation and then call for curb-side pick-up. The Family Style for 4 was the perfect amount of food for two people for a long weekend. It came with turkey, Ponzio's bread, choice of soup for the group, stuffing a choice of three sides for the group and a choice of pie for the group. My only complaint was that the turkey came already dressed with gravy. Next year we'll ask for gravy on the side so we can share more dinner with our pup. It was the same great quality I've grown up with in the restaurant, and I wouldn't hesitate to order another holiday meal from Ponzio's again. read more

It's exactly what a diner should be! Friendly & efficient service, so many menu choices that it's difficult to make a decision, and incredibly quick food delivery. The food isn't fancy, but it's quick, tasty, and reasonably-priced. If you're not feeling the self-serve atmosphere that's so prevalent at many establishments, this is a great alternative. Stopped in for breakfast. No real issues but you could tell the COVID restrictions and lack of workers have taken its toll on the business. With that being said the staff was busy but friendly, and the food came out quick and hot. I got the chicken and waffles Benedict. The combo of savory, sweet and spicy was spot on. You got the best of both worlds in terms of chicken and waffles and a decadent hollandaise sauce. The portion was also very generous as I'd expect nothing less from a NJ diner. My wife got a simple but delicious breakfast of scrambled eggs, sausage and home fries. The eggs were perfectly cooked and the sausage had that caramelization you look for in a well cooked breakfast sausage. Sometimes simple is best. Went to Ponzios yesterday. Ordered French toast= $11.00 for 2 pics bread, burnt and very, very oily since it was deep fried. Waitress was wonderful. Agreed to replace it with pancakes. (Unremarkable). Prices definitely went up. If I wanted bananas or strawberries on my French toast that would have been $ 4.00. $15.00 for 2 pcs of bread? I don't think so. Crab cakes are full of crab but the tartar sauce was a little strong with those bitter onions in it. When it comes the crab cakes make sure you say broiled never fried! My, how the mighty have fallen! Food was pretty good, but plain for the price. The menu size has been drastically reduced. Service, though, was very disappointing at every step. The hostess, waitress and cashier were all disinterested and knew very little about the restaurant. After so many pleasant visits over many years, I'm sad to say I won't be returning after my last two. Eventually their reputation won't be enough to keep them going.
