Absolutely terrible. Not coming back here which is unfortunate. Love to support local business. First of all, all the prices on the menu are incorrect. When I got the bill everything I ordered was 2 dollars more than what was listed. That is either incompetence or a scam. Now the food. Got the calamari, clam chowder, steak and eggs, and shrimp with cheesy grits. Calamari was overly greasy and the breading was barely sticking to it. Clam chowder was the only thing acceptable. Steak was totally fatty, cooked to medium/medium well when medium rare was requested. Grits were completely undercooked and disgusting. No cheese. They just took the grits from another dish on the menu (fish and grits with greens) and threw the shrimp on top of that. We were looking for a classic diner experience, & hadn't been here since the reopening -- but unfortunately I think we got the second string staff. The burger and fries was fine, and the French toast/eggs combo and huevos rancheros were adequate. Fried pickles were too bready and bland, buffalo caluiflower was under-bready, i.e., it was pretty much just cooked cauliflower with sauce, no coating. Hashbrowns were white, drastically undercooked and no crunch or crispies, but sweet potato hash had a stale, end -of batch/end of day almost rubbery quality. Some might like the large pieces of onions and peppers but I did not. Lemonade and diet coke were as expected. The server seemed nice, what little we interacted with her. Not sure what was going on -- it wasn't too busy, but we didn't have our water refilled until the end of the meal when I went and asked, which was very un-diner-like! Left me thirsty for more. Eggs have been perfectly cooked to order; wide choice of potatoes (or fresh fruit) - I'm partial to the red bliss oven fried with onions/peppers. There is a senior menu and specials every day which include juice (fresh squeezed orange if you wish) and coffee/tea. Both those menus - and the regular one - are very reasonably priced. this cute, updated diner had lots of potential, but kind of missed the mark. there were many trendy offerings, like avocado toast and meatless meat and tofu scrambles, along with classic breakfast fare. Upon arrival we stood waiting with multiple other parties while the host stood at a table chatting. Once we got seated, our server asked for our drink order, brought the coffees, and said she'd be back. We took the time to peruse the menu. I ordered a hearty cheesy grits bowl, and hubby ordered a greek scramble. The food arrived in a timely manner, but was not very hot. Nevertheless we ate and enjoyed it. The house made bread was especially good. Fortunately another server came by to give us a coffee refill as our original one never came back. After we finished she did return to drop off the check. My mom and I came to The Westmont on April 22 for lunch and were left wildly disappointed. Our waitress was great because she was knowledgeable about the menu. The disappointment we had was with the food. My mom got a combo with a chicken salad sandwich and soup. The sandwich was laughable with one slice of tomato and one slice of lettuce while the chicken salad was mushy. For me, I tried their salmon breaky sandwich which was not appetizing in any way. It was a small square of a salmon filet that was bland and the overly large roll was squishy. I barely ate half and my stomach was uneasy for hours after eating it. Service and Food were both excellent. We felt welcomed from the moment we stepped in. The Barista kindly directed us to the hostess, who sat us right away. Jenna L was our server. Solid South Jersey diner located in the old Crystal Lake Diner. I live and work very close by and I make it here a few times a year, usually for breakfast. Always an excellent experience. Came here last week for breakfast on a Thursday morning and ordered the eggs Benedict with avocado and tomato, which was cooked perfectly. Couldn't have asked for a better meal. Our waitress was exceptionally friendly and attentive. The whole menu is classic NJ diner: tons of breakfast options, sandwiches, comfort foods, etc. None of it gourmet or award winning but always well made and for excellent prices. All in a clean and brightly lit restaurant. Sadly they are not open 24 hours anymore, but they do open at 6am which is great for early birds like me. read more

I will start by saying the remodeling is excellent! However, our order was incorrect 3 times. The food runner and manager had to clarify with our server exactly what we ordered. Too many people involved! Go back to where the server, that takes your order brings the food to the table. I am a woman who doesn't need much when it comes to food. I barely need to look at the menu when I know there's eggs benedict. This eggs benedict (southwest eggs benedict) was on a corn muffin and intrigued me. It was a great choice. A bit on the drier side and light on the hollandaise sauce but I personally loved the sweetness from the corn muffin that you typically don't see with egg benedict's. This place has really improved over the years. I went when ownership first changed from Crystal Lake to Westmont and I thought it was just ok - nothing terribly exciting. Been back twice this summer and it's one of the better diners in the area in my opinion. Their menu has some great options and the portions are pretty generous. Since I love burgers and it's breakfast why not get a burger that has cheese steak on it. So that's what I did and it was very good. The fries it came with it were also good. We also split the fried steak with eggs and home fries. And that was pretty decent. Great batter on the steak. We got the sausage gravy on the side. Westmont Diner is my diner delivery go-to. It's easily accessed via Grubhub and the major services. The veggie omelette has never steered me wrong. I wish I could build my own omelette or add extra ingredients. For example, there's no way to customize a meat and veggie omelette. The chicken Caesar wrap has been a staple, although a little pricey for a wrap. I haven't been enamored by their Greek selections. Easy, convenient and quality delivery. read more

My buddy and I went here on a Wednesday evening at around 7 pm, just before close. (It was the day before Thanksgiving, to be exact.) The Westmont Diner is located in Westmont, NJ in a small strip mall of sorts near the corner of Haddon Ave. and Maple Ave. It's also not too far from the Westmont PATCO station. Our visit here was on October 6, 2019. We came in the evening for dinner. I had a coupon that I had online, so we figured it was worth trying out. When you look at the place outside, the spot looks unassuming, but looks can be deceiving. The parking lot does need a bit of work, as there were some spots with potholes. Once we entered, it did have that general diner feel to it. We were immediately greeted and seated as well. It was busy, but not overly busy. Once at our table, our server was over there fairly quickly. She greeted herself and then asked us if we wanted anything to drink. After placing our drink order and coming back with it, she asked if we were ready to order, but we weren't quite yet, since like a typical diner, the menu is large. She gave us more time to look over the menu. After getting another table seated, she came back to check if we were ready to order, and at that point we were. I ended up getting the Broiled Shrimp with mashed potatoes and applesauce as the sides. My mom went with the Broiled Chop Steak with mashed potatoes and coleslaw as her sides. Within a few minutes of ordering, the salad that came with each of our orders were brought to the table, along with some bread and butter. The salads looked really good and were also fresh. The salad was a great start to the meal. About ten minutes or so after getting the salad, our orders came out to the table. The food came out hot and exactly as ordered. The shrimp were really good, along with the mashed potatoes and applesauce. There was plenty of food. My mom also liked what she had gotten as well. After eating, I totally forgot that it included a small dessert as well. I ended up going with the mint chocolate chip ice cream. Overall, this was a great experience. The service and food were great. It definitely looks like a hole in the wall kind of place, but as I noted before, looks can be deceiving. Prices are very reasonable considering the portion sizes of the food. I would definitely come back here in the future if I am in the area. If you happen to be in the area, you should come visit this place as well, but just note that they are not open 24/7. read more

PHENOMENAL!!!! My friend and I are touring South Jersey diners we have never visited. We started our journey today with the Westmont Diner. We both are wondering if this establishment is going to be the best. My friend has his usual, the turkey platter. He is the guy who has most meals made by others. By his third bite in, he stated this turkey dinner was the best he's ever had at a diner! This is the go to guy for many on where to eat. He knows his stuff! He chose the chicken and rice soup that he said was excellent. Fresh home made bread, served hot and whipped butter accompany dinner meals. The bread is that good! I had the half roasted chicken with fresh spinach and this too was exceptional. The chicken was cooked to perfection. I chose the dinner salad and that too was so good. Lettuce with carrots, cucumbers, tomatoes and fresh sprinkled cheese and croutons. So good. Our waiter made the experience that more special. So efficient and kind. I followed his recommendations and am so glad I did. A great tell tale sign of a good diner in the parking lot. We waited for a table to be cleared. When seated in the large dining area, every table was filled. You could tell there were lots of regulars that are known by name. This is a very clean establishment that is nicely decorated. People seem to love this diner, but I'm not really sure why. We went this morning and ordered two orders of corned beef hash with eggs as a breakfast special. Both of them were loaded with onions in both the potatoes and the hash, and they didn't ask us if we wanted onion in either of those. Onions do not agree with me so I couldn't eat any of it except the toast and eggs. My husband who likes onions, said they were way too many and the combination just did not taste good. They not only did not apologize but they did not remove either one from our check. I thought common practice was to ask people if they want onions and the potatoes, at least. It's a shame, because the server was really nice and they greeted us well, but since it's really about the food, we won't be going back. read more

When they were in Haddon Avenue, seems like they took much better care of how they prepare their food. I frequented that location quite often. I decided to give the new location a try. Although the service was adequate most of the time up, I was extremely Disappointed in the preparation of some of their breakfast items, Especially the bacon which has come out lukewarm, chewy, and basically tasted as if it was there all night sitting and then reused. After reading the reviews, we decided to give this place a try after food shopping in the area. We got seated immediately after arriving. The restaurant is small and long at the same time and follows a primarily white color scheme. White lamp chandeliers adorn the ceiling, keeping the restaurant nice and bright. All of the seats in the restaurant are booths and there is also a counter in the middle of the restaurant for extra seating. There are also three TVs above the counter that display the menus as well. Daughter ordered the Avocado Tomato Benedict, which was 2 poached eggs on a toasted English muffin with Canadian bacon and topped with jalapeño hollandaise sauce and paprika. She actually got 3 poached eggs, which was a pleasant surprise. I ended up eating one of her poached eggs. I noticed the menu would say 2 eggs with the price but in the description, it would say 3 eggs. Hubs ordered the Breakfast Quesadilla, which has scrambled eggs, sausage, onions, peppers and salsa. The entree comes along with home potatoes infused with peppers and onions and a side of sour cream and salsa. He liked it. It was made well and a nice change of pace. Lastly, I ordered the Belgium Waffle with bananas. It was crispy and delicious. The place was pretty clean and the restrooms as well. There's plenty of parking outside. It's located in a big lot.
