They have two freezers full of flavors including some that were listed as vegan. I was greeted warmly upon entry, and could have tried any of the flavors. They do have the scoops and sundaes but I was here for a couple of shakes. Their shakes have whipped cream on top and if you wanted an extra topping it was an additional $2. After I placed my order for a vanilla shake and cookie dough shake, I did see they have three or so "fancy" shakes available with lots of goodies inside. So glad we decided to come back after our lunch. The ice cream was some of the best we've ever had and the staff were super friendly. We sampled three different kinds and decided to get 2 scoops of honeycomb and 1 scoop of corn. Yes, corn does sound weird for ice cream but it was an interesting choice. While I wouldn't get just the corn ice cream, it paired well with the honeycomb. There were chewy pieces of corn in the ice cream which was a fun treat. The real star was the honeycomb ice cream though. Just wow! You have to get this. I promise you won't regret it. It was a nice day and we opted to sit outside the shop on a bench and eat our ice cream. This was a wonderful ending to our day in Philly.

Their Boston creme with chocolate frosting is also one of the best I've ever had of that variety. Apple cider and pumpkin are two of their absolute best seasonal flavors. McMillan's does NOT do weird gimmicky donuts with fruity pebbles or bacon or lord-knows-what-else on top. They just make damn good old-school donuts and pastries. There's a reason that Michael Solomonov and Steve Cook specifically called out McMillan's donuts as some of the best in the country. While donuts are the cornerstone of this family-run bakery, McMillan's offers so much more than that. One of their lesser-known gems is the tea biscuit with raisins - just crumbly, buttery perfection. Their cakes are never disappointing, and they do an excellent job with decorating them (if that's something you want - if so, just call ahead). They make pretty good seasonal pies, as well. The fruit-filled danishes are great, and they do a nice job with their muffins and sticky buns. We've also gotten dinner rolls before, and they were solid (although with Del Buono's and Deluxe nearby, the roll competition is stiff!). I LOVE bakeries and I visit them wherever I travel.
