Stumbled upon this little spot while waiting for my car to get worked on in the area. Glad we found it! Old school diner vibes, locals and passers-bys gathering with a great little breakfast menu. Service was excellent! Coffee was hot and delicious. We had a breakfast quesadilla with bacon, banana walnut pancakes, and the kids both got the Pancake and eggs. The pancakes were fluffy and crisp all together; excellent (especially the banana walnut). Quesadilla surprised me. I wanted sausage, wife wanted bacon, so we went the bacon route (happy wife happy life lol). But it was really good, my son ate 1/4 of it and said, "I'm getting this next time!" Great local gem. Staff is very friendly, food taste delicious, and is affordable. Everyone seems to know everyone when listening to conversations. There's table seating, booth seating and bar top. The food was good diner fare. They have a vast menu. I enjoyed my food - I got the Cajun chicken club with no bacon. My friend got the Southwestern salad and she said the dressing was not a good fit for the salad. The server did ask if we wanted a different dressing to go with the salad, but my friend declined. I'm sure one of their other options would have been a good fit. The cheese pizza was good too. Re: ambiance. It was what you expect from a diner - you know, average noise level, people sitting at the bar drinking coffee, families eating with their little ones, etc. It was a very clean restaurant. The service was excellent - for some reason, the servers kept rotating through different sections, so we had 3 different servers in the short time we were there. Stopped by for a quick meal on our way back home. This diner is a homey vibe - the kind of diners you grew up with in NJ. The server we had was extremely nice and attentive. It wasn't too lively but also not too quiet. My guest and I both got the chicken parm which I thought was very good. Did you know Jersey Girl was filmed here? I almost was obnoxious enough to ask which seat JLo sat in, but I was with other people and I didn't want to embarrass myself. I literally could not decide on what to get, and our poor server had to come back three times before we all got our act together and made a decision. I opted for the gyro with the generic "spiced meat" option - it didn't specifically say lamb, but I took the plunge and ordered it. And then I asked to swap out the french fries with onion rings, and it wasn't a problem (although common courtesy would have been for the server to say, "Sure, there's an extra charge, is that ok?" Just a tip for the future. I didn't think to ask, and only saw the upcharge when we were trying to settle the bill among our group. By the way, it was an additional $1.50 I think. My husband found this place randomly and we decided to have breakfast here before our day of shopping in Pennsylvania. There was a short 5 minutes wait even though the place was packed! Our waitress came over and took our order rather quickly. I ordered the waffles with strawberries and whipped cream along with scrambled eggs and ham. The food wasn't good at all. To the point where we could barely touch our food beyond the first bite and had to return our meals to the kitchen. Our waiter did try to rectify the situation, but wasn't surprised that the food tasted horrible. When we went to pay at the front, the cashier asked us how the experience was and we were honest. First time here as it is easy to find on my way down the shore. It's a pretty small diner with a dedicated parking lot behind the building. Seemed like there were plenty of return business as the staff greeted many of the customers in a familiar way. As we waited for our food, we watched as others around us got served. Huge portions, including plate sized pancakes and large burgers were being handed out. I was quite pleased with my French dip platter. It came with a decent sized sandwich, nicely toasted with melted cheese. The broth had a good flavor. The platter also came with pickles, cole slaw and fries for less than $10. Our server was quite patient with allowing us to take our time to look at the menu and checked on us frequently. I'm happy to have found this place. The New Berlin Diner is the picture of a quintessential Jersey diner. Right on a busy road, all shiny, booths galore, hues of red. They even have fresh cut flowers in the immaculate bathrooms. I just wish I liked their food more. I stopped in for dinner with my mom after running errands in the area a couple weeks back. We were getting food before a trip to the Berlin Brewery right down the same street. We requested a booth and were sat toward the back (or front, depending on your opinion of street-front). Our server was generally nice, but she also had the Jersey sass going on. I ordered my typical diner favorite for dinner -- the chicken salad and bacon club, no tomatoes, on white toast. I even emphasized that I hate tomatoes and cannot deal with them on the sandwich because I feel like tomatoes follow me ruthlessly wherever I am. My mom also requested no tomatoes on her salad. Her salad came out first, loaded with cherry tomatoes. She was upset but I told her to just eat around them. I don't mind cherry tomatoes so much because their juice doesn't soak into every other food. But of course my sandwich also came out with tomatoes, and their impact was evident on my white toast. I reiterated that I was really sorry but I explicitly told her that I didn't want tomatoes -- and she argued that I did not say that. I was quite peeved at that point because it's not cool to argue with guests. In fact, she should've been the one apologizing for not writing it down, or for the kitchen's mistake. When she came back with the new sandwich (as my mom was finishing her mediocre crab cake meal), she was a bit nicer. The sandwich was still underwhelming though. I'd take the sandwich at Westmont Diner, or Woodstown Diner, over this one. Maybe their breakfast is better. Or a different dish. I just don't live close enough to the Berlin Diner to warrant a return anytime soon. First impression: Cute, classic ambiance, but not my favorite meal. read more

My friend got the Veggie Tennessee Shroom Burger and I tried the "NBD Burger" with the potato chips option. The burger was okay, but it was a bit greasy and the coleslaw was more liquidy than expected. I thought when I chose the potato chips, it would be the kind that was made in-house, but it actually came out as a Herr's potato chip bag.
