    bagel and lox! (3/16/24)
    Tricia G.

I was surprised at check in that Id never been. Totally cute, cozy and clean diner. Did I say how very much I love diners?! Super service. My bagel and lox was on point! Joey's breakfast sandwich- same. Their dessert selection was slim Pickens, but I never get it anyway. I just like looking and drooling lol! Id absolutely go back!

Looks like an old school diner from the outside. Inside are a variety of booth, table and counter seats. What we ordered and what we could see being delivered around us were large portions and the menu is reasonably priced. Bathroom was clean and well stocked. The waitress was attentive and handled our couple requests quickly. Plenty of vegetarian and some vegan options. Vegan crispy chicken can be substituted in most salads and a veg burger can replace the burgers on the menu.

Great local gem. Staff is very friendly, food taste delicious, and is affordable. Everyone seems to know everyone when listening to conversations. There's table seating, booth seating and bar top. I may have over looked it but a jukebox seems to be the only thing I can think of that would be missing! Over all great place, can't wait to come back!

The food was good diner fare. They have a vast menu. I enjoyed my food - I got the Cajun chicken club with no bacon. My friend got the Southwestern salad and she said the dressing was not a good fit for the salad. The server did ask if we wanted a different dressing to go with the salad, but my friend declined. I'm sure one of their other options would have been a good fit. The cheese pizza was good too. Re: ambiance. It was what you expect from a diner - you know, average noise level, people sitting at the bar drinking coffee, families eating with their little ones, etc. It was a very clean restaurant. The service was excellent - for some reason, the servers kept rotating through different sections, so we had 3 different servers in the short time we were there. All 3 ladies provided excellent customer service.

When people claim that Jersey has the best diners, they sure as hell aren't talking about this place. The only worthwhile item on our lunch special was onion soup, served in a crock and topped with melted cheese. 3.5 stars! Everything else, a paltry two. And that's being generous. ***Who ever heard of serving undercooked and mushy crab cake batter that one could eat with a spoon? Feh! ***The chicken souvlaki was nothing more than diced feta and what I imagine is their underwhelming chicken salad, stuffed into pita. Feh! ***Fries were limp and tasteless. You guessed it: feh! Y'know how diners always have revolving displays of decadent desserts by their entrance? Not this place. It should've been our tip-off. Our waitress said something about the next time we come in, to which I thought, 'you gotta be kidding!'

Great food at great prices! Definitely an updated diner feel with quick happy service. We got two meals and then some (take home boxes for both of us).

Stopped by for a quick meal on our way back home. This diner is a homey vibe - the kind of diners you grew up with in NJ. The server we had was extremely nice and attentive. It wasn't too lively but also not too quiet. My guest and I both got the chicken parm which I thought was very good. I judge a diner by their side vegetables and they were fresh (not canned!) so I was sold. For dessert, we indulged in a chocolate milkshake (pictured) which was very good and a generous size. Would definitely return to check out more of their menu to solidify a five stars!

    Gyro - so good.

Did you know Jersey Girl was filmed here? I almost was obnoxious enough to ask which seat JLo sat in, but I was with other people and I didn't want to embarrass myself. Thoroughly enjoyed our Girly Brunch here. I never would have found this place on my own, so glad it came up as an option. The menu was yuuuuge. I literally could not decide on what to get, and our poor server had to come back three times before we all got our act together and made a decision. I opted for the gyro with the generic "spiced meat" option - it didn't specifically say lamb, but I took the plunge and ordered it. And then I asked to swap out the french fries with onion rings, and it wasn't a problem (although common courtesy would have been for the server to say, "Sure, there's an extra charge, is that ok?" Just a tip for the future. I didn't think to ask, and only saw the upcharge when we were trying to settle the bill among our group. By the way, it was an additional $1.50 I think. As for the gyro platter - Really delicious and filling, and it was about $11 for the platter.

3.5 First time at the new Berlin diner but won't be the last. I found the portion sizes generous with a reasonable prize tag. As most diners the menu is large and a bit overwhelming especially if you have no idea what you feel like eating. Shared the lamb gyro sandwich and the French dip sandwich. Both were very tasty and served with fries. The salad was huge and I was told the chicken was seasoned nicely. The server was fair but did allow us to seat and visit after our meal was over without making us feel we needed to leave.

Overall it wasn't a bad experience... as a party of 4 - 2 loved there meals and 2 didn't care for it. The bread was beyond stale and the soup was cold. The prime rib (pictured) was the best item ordered - however the sides were warm - definitely not hot. The waitress was friendly and the prices economical.

This place is small but cozy. The food was good with big portions. I liked the tea, chicken rice soup, steak and special crab entree.

Inside, the food was fresh, plentiful, and delicious. We chose side salads instead of fries and they were a great size to start the meal. I had the open‑face Turkey Reuben and the portion was definitely shareable and very good. My husband had the fish and chips and the cod was fried perfectly, 4 nice fillets, crisp outside and tender inside. He swapped the fries for a baked potato and it tasted like it came straight from the oven, hot and fluffy. They offered a long list of specials for 16.99 that included beverage, soup, salad, an entrée and dessert. The cakes and pies looked fabulous and many were ordering dessert. We were too full this time, but next visit we'll save room. Our waitress, Lala, was wonderfu, attentive, friendly and always checking in at the right moments. The manager greeted us warmly when we arrived and again when we left, which added to the friendly atmosphere. Plenty of parking and easy to get in and out. We would definitely recommend this diner and would happily return.

Soup came with - my cup of Chicken Pastina was very good and tasty. The salad was pretty good but the steak needed more flavor. The 1000 Island didn't taste homemade like at most other places I dine. They had a decent crowd for a Wednesday night. Their dessert case looked amazing and I heard two tables ordering cake and Oreo cheesecake!!! I hit the bathroom before heading out. Nice decor but dirty and a fly was hovering around. Sweet server named Emma was probably the highlight . One and done for me - sorry.

I had the Power Breakfast, and my wife enjoyed the California Omelette. Both meals were fresh, flavorful, generously portioned, and beautifully prepared. We would absolutely order them again. Our server, Benjamin, deserves special recognition. He was friendly, attentive, checked on us at just the right times, and never made us feel rushed. His service was outstanding and added to an otherwise wonderful dining experience. The only disappointment was the beverage pricing. I'll admit that we typically don't study the menu prices before ordering--that was probably our mistake. After eating in restaurants for more than 70 years, however, I can honestly say these beverage prices are among the most outrageous I've encountered. We were charged $3.99 for a single cup of black coffee and $5.99 for one glass of lemonade--nearly $10 for two beverages. The coffee was simply one ordinary cup of black coffee, and the lemonade was so incredibly sweet that it was almost undrinkable. Neither beverage came close to justifying its price. It's unfortunate because everything else was excellent. The quality of the food, the atmosphere, and Benjamin's exceptional service make Silver Diner a place we would gladly visit again. However, management should seriously reconsider charging nearly $10 for one standard cup of coffee and one mediocre glass of lemonade. Prices like that leave customers feeling taken advantage of and detract from what is otherwise a terrific dining experience. We'll definitely be back--but next time we'll probably skip the beverages unless the pricing becomes more reasonable.
