We had breakfast at Silver Diner this morning, and overall it was an excellent experience. The food was outstanding. I had the Power Breakfast, and my wife enjoyed the California Omelette. Both meals were fresh, flavorful, generously portioned, and beautifully prepared. We would absolutely order them again. Our server, Benjamin, deserves special recognition. He was friendly, attentive, checked on us at just the right times, and never made us feel rushed. His service was outstanding and added to an otherwise wonderful dining experience. The only disappointment was the beverage pricing. I'll admit that we typically don't study the menu prices before ordering--that was probably our mistake. After eating in restaurants for more than 70 years, however, I can honestly say these beverage prices are among the most outrageous I've encountered. We were charged $3.99 for a single cup of black coffee and $5.99 for one glass of lemonade--nearly $10 for two beverages. The coffee was simply one ordinary cup of black coffee, and the lemonade was so incredibly sweet that it was almost undrinkable. Neither beverage came close to justifying its price. It's unfortunate because everything else was excellent. The quality of the food, the atmosphere, and Benjamin's exceptional service make Silver Diner a place we would gladly visit again. However, management should seriously reconsider charging nearly $10 for one standard cup of coffee and one mediocre glass of lemonade. Prices like that leave customers feeling taken advantage of and detract from what is otherwise a terrific dining experience. We'll definitely be back--but next time we'll probably skip the beverages unless the pricing becomes more reasonable. read more

Dined here a couple of times when in the area... There is a good variety on the menu to choose from for even the pickiest of eaters. They do have specials as well. Cute mini table jukeboxes...they do actually work too! The crab cake sandwich is a definite must! That was the first thing that popped out to me on the menu! The first time we came they ran out and came back another time just to have it! Manager was super nice and invited us back another time for it. Tuna melt and fish and chips were good options. My brother was visiting with his family and wanted to grab lunch together. Saw this diner nearby our home and wanted to give it a try. I must say, we made the right choice. When we walked in, we were greeted right away. They were able to seat our party of 8 right away. When our waiter came, he took everybody's order in an orderly fashion. All the food came out at a great pace. My wife, and my brother's family were very impressed with the food. Everything was delicious and we were able to tell everything was made fresh. What a surprise. Staff was very pleasant and I wish I remembered our servers name, she was always checking on us and very friendly and sweet with a huge smile on her face. Loved how bright and clean everything looked. The booths with the jukeboxes brought us back in time. Started off with the beet salad appetizer which that was amazing. My sister and I ordered the summer cod and that was DELICIOUS. Only a tad problem with the asparagus bottom needed to be cut off more. My Mom ordered the lamb chops (medium) but they came out well done. She didn't care because she loved how flavored everything was and she still ate every bite. I came to the dinner on 9/20/26 I was with my mom and my little brother. Now the waiter and service were great. What was not great was the food. My pancakes were a big soggy even before I put the syrup on, it was not very pleasant. Next was the bacon, it tasted like ham instead of bacon and I despise ham, also it had a syrup like smell to it. Didn't like that. Next was the eggs, I seasoned them and everything but when I bit into them they weren't even warm, they were just straight up cold. And my French toast was awful. There was barely any powdered sugar on it, when you bit into it all you tasted was bland bread and butter, couldn't taste the syrup. Next was my mom's order, the only real problem she has with it was that she asked for no onion, her home fries were cold and soggy, then the waffle was so cold that the butter didn't even spread. And then came my brother's order, he seemed to like it, more so the fries than the burgers, said they were too raw for his liking. But overall I'm not saying the people and service was bad, no they were very nice and polite and took their time with us. I just wish the food could've been better. Wait times were moderate, When we went to leave and pay for our bill with the scan tool on the server there was an error for the bill, and the server never corrected this until it was bought to her attention. She would have tipped herself the entire amount of the check like 45 bucks, including the 8 dollar tip we left her on the table. No a god way to do business. You can get traditional entrees but they have some really interesting dishes too. A lot of vegetarian offerings. I went with a very simple patty melt but substituted turkey. It was delicious. The turkey was moist. I substituted veggies for the fries. They weren't bad. The coleslaw was ok. I think I just couldn't get past the corn in it. I love corn but not sure I like it in coleslaw. My girlfriend ordered the Corned beef hash with Just Egg because she is allergic to eggs. Unfortunately, she had small reaction (inflamed lip and stomach issues) so there must have been some cross contamination. Otherwise, she said the meal was tasty. We asked to move seats and the next booth across the restaurant had all of the same problems. When they gave us our to-go bag, there were also ants inside it. An intriguing concept for a diner: a large menu, but not the standards you're thinking of. Instead of all fried, buttery/oily, salty - this is a healthy diner! They're also a chain, so when I looked up Silver Diner to get directions I got results in Maryland and DC as well. I dismissed that at first, but turns out they are, in fact, related. This was a work outing so my mind was mainly on work discussion, until the food came. I got a daily special and the shakshuka was extraordinary. Amazing flavor in the sauce, amazingly fresh bread, eggs over easy exactly as advertised (and cooked as they sat). The food is a 5 here as far as I'm concerned, between the flavor and the healthiness. Main reason for deduction? Price point is a bit high. I also am curious about the jukeboxes. We didn't try it, but it says that it will play your song in the order the system receives it. I feel like you could game the system that way... I heard soft background music the entire time we were there, and now I'm wondering if that's what you get with your choice or if it starts playing at a more audible volume. Didn't test it to find out because, again, work outing. (Not to mention do they clean the buttons between diners, or are there layers of finger grime on there? It /looked/ clean...) Overall, a nice spot to grab a bite, but it's a bite of the unexpected. Bring your wallet and, in my estimation, you get close to what you pay for. If I ever make it back here, I will look at the daily specials, try the jukebox, and decide on the fifth star. read more

The management is rude and unprofessional, chasing me away ..LITERALLY, which is never a good dining experience because the competition (i.e. Nifty Fiftys) is within distance and is more afordable. I understand prices are higher in this economy (2025), especially for foot establishment, but I dont want to spend my entire paycheck on a dinner with my wife and 2 kids, and potentially get asked to leave because I don't fit their mold. Upon arrival, the staff provided our table with a "halal" menu. It was on a 8"x11" which was funny but I felt the inclusion and appreciated it. It would be helpful to have the prices listed on the sheet. Most of our table got the chicken and waffles. The gravy is not halal so it came with the chicken, waffles, syrup and a sweet and sour sauce. The chicken was overcooked which did not help with the dryness from the waffles. I know that five stars may seem excessive for a diner, with so many other diners to be found these days, but this one is particularly special for a few reasons. Firstly, it sits on a hill with a nice view. The waitressing staff is extremely generous and the menu is quite eclectic. I ordered the healthy breakfast special which included egg whites, turkey, bacon, rye bread, and fresh fruit all for just $15. Miniature jukeboxes that actually work are located on every table and the Wi-Fi is dependable. There are a lot of other food establishments in the local area, but this one is open early, closes late, and provides a number of different Sandwiches, salads, milkshakes, omelettes, and other options that make iHop look like amateurs. Yes it's chrome, jukebox, and you can order chicken fingers. You can also get veggie burgers and they have an entire outside area. So I got the smokehouse burger. They let you switch out the meat for whatever you want. I switched it to a turkey burger. It was awesome. I think most places suck when it comes to any alternative burger products. I'm normally thinking I do a better job on the grill at home. Not here. This was absolutely delicious. I also got a cucumber mint lemonade that was so good. We ended up getting the chicken fried steak and the fried triple pickle sandwich. Both were delicious. The chicken sandwich was breaded and fried perfectly (super crispy). The menu at Silver Diner is absolutely amazing. I especially love it when there are MULTIPLE healthy options to choose from , and I'm not talking salads! My family of 4 were passing through NJ and at 11:00 pm. We turned around and came back for brunch at noon that's how much we loved it! Our server was a really nice young man studying journalism.
