    Omelet
    Hollie S.

Recently, I was at the Liberty Diner in Clayton, NJ. Interestingly enough, the Liberty Diner is owned by the same people who own the Liberty 2 diner in Bordentown. I was surprised to find this out since it is quite the distance between the two. Anyway, I was looking forward to an excellent breakfast. Atmosphere: The Liberty Diner is the stereotypical NJ diner. The exterior is a big, shiny, metallic building. It sticks out on the highway. The interior has everything a stereotypical diner would have: booths, tables, big mirrors, a full-length bar, and of course a dessert case.  It could use to be cleaned, but other than it was good.  Coffee: The coffee was brewed hot and fresh, and the waitress kept it refilled the entire time. I couldn't have asked for better coffee if I wanted it.  Food: I arrived around 10 am and was craving breakfast. The Liberty Diner has everything from breakfast, lunch, and dinner. There are plenty of omelets, steak and eggs, lunch specials, and dinner too. I was craving an omelet, so I decided to order the vegetarian omelet which came with toast and homefries. The omelet itself was massive! I can't remember the last time I've had an omelet that big. It was stuffed with broccoli, mushrooms, tomatoes, onions, and peppers. There were plenty of home fries and the rye toast was good too. My meal was not only massive but delicious too. I left full.  Service: The waitress was one of the most friendly waitresses I've had in a while. The diner wasn't too crowded, she checked on us often, and our food came out quickly. In all, it was a great experience. Overall Thoughts/Summary: I had a positive experience at the Liberty Diner and enjoyed myself. I would go back.

The food and service was great! Very nice people and plenty of food, delish. Plenty of attention in regard to ensuring we had enough coffee, etc.

The food was delicious and our server, Brandy was helpful and friendly. The diner, including the restroom was clean.

They were good however the crabmeat was more shredded, not to where there were lumps of crabmeat that I was hoping to see however it was very tasty. No imitation junk, it was real crab. I ordered a side of fried eggplant and potato salad which I was in mood for. I asked waitress to ask the cook if I could taste the potato salad, just a little spoonful to see if I liked it, she was hesitant, saying I dont know if they'll do it. I said of course they will! I was only asking for a taste, like a spoonful not a lot... of course she came out with a little in a plastic souffle cup. It was one of the tastiest potato salads I've had out! Some plces dont get potato salad right but Monarchs is the bomb!!! THE eggplant wasn't peeled and I hate, I mean hate when eggplant has skin on it. It made the eggplant tough and hard to cut so i swapped it for a baked potato which was silly since I opted for the potato salad but in hindsight i think I shouldve picked pickled beets, it would've been a better choice since i love those. I initially asked my server if they had fried stuffed shrimp and she said no, that the crabmeat would just fall out of the, shrimp into the oil. Silly thought since my crab cakes were fried! When I went up to pay I inquired about fried stuffed shrimp and the gentleman assured me they certainly do serve fried stuffed shrimp. I would've ordered that instead of the crab cakes had the server knew they do sell them. My salad was great that came with the meal, chilled properly and the Bleu cheese killer!!! Lumpy and delicious! I asked for a side of hummus because I had it a few days earlier under "the European bowl" which is AWESOME! Comes with feta cheese, stuffed grape leaves, cukes over hummus. Today, however the hummus tasted a little bland, not as good as the other day, seemed watered down or it was a new batch that had no tahini or something was different but it was just OK, just not nearly like it was when I had it several days earlier. Not a big deal, came out with warmed pita to dip in it, im a hummus fanatic and I hope they'll see this post and improve on it. NOW FOR THE BEST PART! MONARCH MAKES A BREAD PUDDING THAT WILL BLOW YOUR MIND!!! Its loaded with custard! Not overly sweet but omg what a sinful dessert to end a meal with! I ordered 3 containers to go because i had been raving to my brother and sis in law about it so I got them each their own containers and one for me! I asked my server if she could put a squirt of whipped cream in them and she said no because it would be too much for the container. Idk what or how my server thinks but a little coaching from mgt may be in order. I still left a 20% tip but I felt a little put off . Monarch has an awesome menu and their food is always consistently good! Im looking forward to trying the Shepherds Pie, but one thing id like to see on that menu is Mousaka because I adore greek food and wouldn't mind seeing some Greek entrees as a special from time to time. I highly recommend this restaurant and BTW on Tuesdays they have stuffed peppers if you love comfort food. 2 huge peppers over homemade mashed, its enough for 2 people but sooo delicious!!! Today's experience would be an 8 out of 10 but id like to see lump crab instead of it being overly mixed but the crabcakes were flavorful as they should be! Highly recommend their chocolate covered cheesecake with a giant chocolate covered strawberry on top! Its one of the best cheesecakes around and always super fresh! I would've given 5 stars had my server been a little more interested in my dining experience. Just because i was a single patron doesnt mean im not a great tipper. If I had been impressed there would have been a larger tip than the 20% i left, i worked in the business for years my darn self!

What I realized is that they were referring to black people and the stereotype of being bad tippers. The conversation was loud enough for me to hear their complaints on the subject. I sat quietly, disappointed with what I was hearing. I took a few bites from my plate but I'd lost my appetite so I requested a box for the food, paid my bill and left my customary 20% tip. One and done. We will never return to Monarch Diner which should appease the establishment. And, we will be sure to share out experience.

They are knowledgeable about the menu/specials, extremely personable and pleasant, and quick and efficient. I look forward to seeing them and they're one of the reasons I keep coming back week after week. Geets diner hits on all the main reasons I love a diner: huge menu, copious servings, and friendly service. The place is clean, and the lighting is great. The bathrooms always look maintained. There's a huge counter section and 2 different spaces with tables and booths. There's enough room for everyone, even on busy days. The atmosphere is relaxed and you can watch TV too, if you'd like. The meal I am mostly coming in for is breakfast. The specials, which are available M-F from 7AM-11AM, are, quite frankly, the best value in town. You cannot beat Geets prices, especially considering what you get. But more importantly: the quality is A+ and the servers take care to make sure your plate is correct before they bring it to you. If you have not done so yet, check out their "customer appreciation" breakfast special. Two eggs, choice of meat, potatoes, toast, unlimited coffee, and a small juice. What would you pay for this? At Geets it is $10.65, which includes tax. Ask your server about substitutions too, because I know instead of "home fries" you can get fried potato cubes, grits, or even sliced tomatoes. It's good to have choices! There's a reason Geets has been opened as long as they have. There's a reason it's a landmark. I feel confident that if you're within 20 miles of Geets, you've heard of it and have been there. If not, you need to go there now and experience it for yourself. Lounge/Bar: for me, it's all about service. JoJo, Shayna, Lisa, Paul, and Frank - you're in good hands. They're proficient mixologists, they know the menu, and they're fast. You are getting stellar service with a smile. The atmosphere is welcoming, too. There's a huge bar with plenty of TVs and the outside patio area is now enclosed, virtually doubling the bar/lounge area. What's been done with the space is refreshing to see. Once the double doors are opened, it's like one big bar and lounge with plenty of space for everyone. Booths and high-top seating complete the layout. As with the diner, the lounge offers exceptional food and drink at great value. Happy hour is from 3:00PM-7:00PM M-F and the specials on food and drink are fantastic. It would be wise to check the website and/or Facebook because they have specials during the week that you should take advantage of, such as Thursday night pizza and Wednesday night half-priced wings. A huge plus is that the diner menu is available in the lounge too. Another reason to check online is there is often entertainment, such as trivia night and live music. Whatever you're in the mood for regardless of time of day, Geets has something for you and you'll be glad that you went. See you there!

This was a really great spot. My coworker and I were over in North Jersey for work but flew in and out of PHL rather than facing Newark. In order to beat the crazy construction traffic outside of Philly and to have a buffer for whatever TSA nightmare we were going to face, we got back near the airport early... like 4 1/2 hours before our flight kind of early. I wanted breakfast outside of the airport so I found this spot while he was refilling the rental car. I got the French toast with homefries. The french toast was perfect, with just a tiny bit of crisp in spot from the griddle. Same with the homefries. I would have liked a bit more seasoning while they were cooking, but a bit of salt and pepper and I was good to go. My coworker got the big breakfast but subbed out the homefries for corned beef hash. While I'm not a fan of corned beef hash, it looked exactly like how my mom and grandfather like it, with a little bit of crisp to it. The pancake was huge and he said his over medium eggs were cooked exactly like he hoped they would be. Now I just need to plan out my flights so I can come get breakfast here again and try one of the sandwiches, or omelettes, or maybe get French toast again...

Today was no exception. Their grilled chicken sandwich was not what I hoped for. On the plus side, it was a generous portion of chicken, most of which I took home. As a negative -- at least for me -- I like a flat filet, with grill marks. This was "chunky," rendering it clumsy to eat. It simply didn't taste grilled at all. And the chicken was dry. T ordered a country omelet that was filled with breakfast meats, cheddar and peppers. Though not my thing, I agreed it was pretty good. His grits were creamy, buttery and delicious. Coffee is strong and served in the old-fashioned heavy mugs that I favor. Our server was friendly. ("Where are you from?" she asked, picking up on my Brooklyn accent.) I asked if Greek lemon soup is ever on the menu. She said that the owners are Turkish, then gave me a rundown of their specialties, all of which sound delish. (Alas, no avgolemono.) I wouldn't hesitate to return to Folcroft. The menu is diverse, the restaurant is clean -- as pointed out by another Yelper AND our waitress. If you order the right thing, you'll no doubt be pleased.
