Omelet
Hollie S.

Recently, I was at the Liberty Diner in Clayton, NJ. Interestingly enough, the Liberty Diner is owned by the same people who own the Liberty 2 diner in Bordentown. I was surprised to find this out since it is quite the distance between the two. Anyway, I was looking forward to an excellent breakfast. Atmosphere: The Liberty Diner is the stereotypical NJ diner. The exterior is a big, shiny, metallic building. It sticks out on the highway. The interior has everything a stereotypical diner would have: booths, tables, big mirrors, a full-length bar, and of course a dessert case.  It could use to be cleaned, but other than it was good.  Coffee: The coffee was brewed hot and fresh, and the waitress kept it refilled the entire time. I couldn't have asked for better coffee if I wanted it.  Food: I arrived around 10 am and was craving breakfast. The Liberty Diner has everything from breakfast, lunch, and dinner. There are plenty of omelets, steak and eggs, lunch specials, and dinner too. I was craving an omelet, so I decided to order the vegetarian omelet which came with toast and homefries. The omelet itself was massive! I can't remember the last time I've had an omelet that big. It was stuffed with broccoli, mushrooms, tomatoes, onions, and peppers. There were plenty of home fries and the rye toast was good too. My meal was not only massive but delicious too. I left full.  Service: The waitress was one of the most friendly waitresses I've had in a while. The diner wasn't too crowded, she checked on us often, and our food came out quickly. In all, it was a great experience. Overall Thoughts/Summary: I had a positive experience at the Liberty Diner and enjoyed myself. I would go back.

The food and service was great! Very nice people and plenty of food, delish. Plenty of attention in regard to ensuring we had enough coffee, etc.

Hands down my favorite diner. Breakfast, Lunch or Dinner, you can't go wrong. Get the Prime Rib, forget about going to a chain

Food is always awesome. We've had our fair share of "bad" servers, but now we always request Mary. She is the best one!

This was a really great spot. My coworker and I were over in North Jersey for work but flew in and out of PHL rather than facing Newark. In order to beat the crazy construction traffic outside of Philly and to have a buffer for whatever TSA nightmare we were going to face, we got back near the airport early... like 4 1/2 hours before our flight kind of early. I wanted breakfast outside of the airport so I found this spot while he was refilling the rental car. I got the French toast with homefries. The french toast was perfect, with just a tiny bit of crisp in spot from the griddle. Same with the homefries. I would have liked a bit more seasoning while they were cooking, but a bit of salt and pepper and I was good to go. My coworker got the big breakfast but subbed out the homefries for corned beef hash. While I'm not a fan of corned beef hash, it looked exactly like how my mom and grandfather like it, with a little bit of crisp to it. The pancake was huge and he said his over medium eggs were cooked exactly like he hoped they would be. Now I just need to plan out my flights so I can come get breakfast here again and try one of the sandwiches, or omelettes, or maybe get French toast again...

The Silver Diner excels at all but the key difference here is quality. Quality ingredients matter here and it shows. Terrific toast and a garden salad that doesn't taste like it was hanging around the locker room since it was made made two days ago. Five very easy stars.

Both meals were fresh, flavorful, generously portioned, and beautifully prepared. We would absolutely order them again. Our server, Benjamin, deserves special recognition. He was friendly, attentive, checked on us at just the right times, and never made us feel rushed. His service was outstanding and added to an otherwise wonderful dining experience. The only disappointment was the beverage pricing. I'll admit that we typically don't study the menu prices before ordering--that was probably our mistake. After eating in restaurants for more than 70 years, however, I can honestly say these beverage prices are among the most outrageous I've encountered. We were charged $3.99 for a single cup of black coffee and $5.99 for one glass of lemonade--nearly $10 for two beverages. The coffee was simply one ordinary cup of black coffee, and the lemonade was so incredibly sweet that it was almost undrinkable. Neither beverage came close to justifying its price. It's unfortunate because everything else was excellent. The quality of the food, the atmosphere, and Benjamin's exceptional service make Silver Diner a place we would gladly visit again. However, management should seriously reconsider charging nearly $10 for one standard cup of coffee and one mediocre glass of lemonade. Prices like that leave customers feeling taken advantage of and detract from what is otherwise a terrific dining experience. We'll definitely be back--but next time we'll probably skip the beverages unless the pricing becomes more reasonable.

Inside, the food was fresh, plentiful, and delicious. We chose side salads instead of fries and they were a great size to start the meal. I had the open‑face Turkey Reuben and the portion was definitely shareable and very good. My husband had the fish and chips and the cod was fried perfectly, 4 nice fillets, crisp outside and tender inside. He swapped the fries for a baked potato and it tasted like it came straight from the oven, hot and fluffy. They offered a long list of specials for 16.99 that included beverage, soup, salad, an entrée and dessert. The cakes and pies looked fabulous and many were ordering dessert. We were too full this time, but next visit we'll save room. Our waitress, Lala, was wonderfu, attentive, friendly and always checking in at the right moments. The manager greeted us warmly when we arrived and again when we left, which added to the friendly atmosphere. Plenty of parking and easy to get in and out. Soup came with - my cup of Chicken Pastina was very good and tasty. The salad was pretty good but the steak needed more flavor. The 1000 Island didn't taste homemade like at most other places I dine. They had a decent crowd for a Wednesday night. Their dessert case looked amazing and I heard two tables ordering cake and Oreo cheesecake!!! I hit the bathroom before heading out. Nice decor but dirty and a fly was hovering around. Sweet server named Emma was probably the highlight . One and done for me - sorry.
