First time at The Meadows Diner. We lived in the area 20 years ago and back to see family for the 4th of July. My wife craved scrapple and I wanted some grits which isn't readily available in Ohio. Our entire experience was wonderful and the food was great. The service was spot on and they even have Smuckers Sugar Free Syrup. In search of the best diner in New Jersey. Everyone has their favorites. I'm looking for the one that reminds me of food. I grew up with being cooked by my mom. Clean diner with lots of options and friendly service. I went for traditional meatloaf, mashed potatoes, vegetable and soup for the day. Navy bean soup, bread and butter were excellent. Meatloaf mushroom gravy pretty good, but as most people would say their mothers was better and that's what I'm still searching for. Next time I'll try one of the homemade cakes as I tried the pie this time. I'll also try the roast turkey when I'm in the area. read more

Great diner ! With plenty of options for everyone , diner had plenty of parking as well. Came here twice during my weekend here and enjoyed the options ! Alyssa was super nice & helpful on getting our orders just how we like it ! Will definitely be back ! They seated us right away as they have plenty of room , pretty big diner . Stopped in for a late breakfast during the week. My server, Mike, was wonderful. He was very friendly, constantly keeping my water and coffee full, and quick to take my order. He brought me an extra plate to help separate some of the food from the meadows special plate, which was much appreciated. The diner has the true diner vibe with tons of booth seating and chrome accents. The bathroom was a little out dated and could definitely use a refresh and a few repairs, but was clean and stocked with soap and paper towels. read more

Ordered the Cream Chipped Beef this morning. It takes a lot for me to leave a poor review but it is deserved. Mere strands of beef in it. Really. If you saw it you'd understand. It was white gravy over toast with some stray cattle bits. LOL I considered ordering the biscuits and gravy. I wonder what that would've been like. Hmm. Do better. read more

Wow, I am not a "diner" girl, but I've been there three times now and I have yet to be disappointed. Breakfast is phenomenal-their biscuits and gravy, chipped beef, eggs, French toast-even the coffee is very tasty! Service is great and the people are friendly. Today I unfortunately had a bad experience, I am gluten free so I ordered an omelet with gluten free toast. I told the server I am gluten free. She then repeated my order and said gluten toast. That me feel uneasy about her knowledge. When my order came out. I noticed potatoes on my plate so I asked, are the potatoes gluten free. The server immediately responded you didn't specify that. What is gluten? What foods have gluten in it. It stead of going to ask the kitchen or go get the manager. She just double down, said I guess it's gluten free. I said guess and knowing are two different things. So I didn't eat and watched my husband eat his breakfast. She then returned to say you're not gonna eat. I said I can't take the chance of getting sick tomorrow if you're not sure. She made me feel uncomfortable. We wrapped up my meal and left. She charge me for both meals. read more

The food is alwas very good and ample sized, prices reasonable, staff friendly, place is very clean & organized, service pretty fast.

Biscuit was the best part of the meal. We went at 12 on a Sunday and were served quickly and with kindness. The ambiance is nice and warm like a classic diner. The breakfast potatoes were also delicious. My omelette also had a cheese pull! read more

My girlfriend and I stopped in for lunch. She's black, I'm white. Nobody told us when we entered that interracial couples were not welcome there. Our first waitress took one look at us and changed tables. The waitress who replaced her was obnoxious and rude. It's a free country, if white supremacy is your thing that's your right. I only wish they would put a sign on the door, whites only, or interracial couples not welcome. That would save everyone time, inconvenience and embarrassment. read more

This is a good throwback look of a diner. Friday night and the place is filled with locals. Warm and friendly atmosphere and the staff was really nice. We sat in the middle of the back room and it was a little tight. Table next to us was finished they stand up put jackets on all willy nilly almost hitting my wife with a sleeve (I don't understand why people need to put jackets on as a standup). When they bussed the table the trashcan was up smack up against our table. So that happened. I got the Tuna Melt, chicken soup and pizza fries. My wife had the French onion cheese steak and onion rings. Soup was good and Tuna Melt ok and don't get the pizza fries (cheese and 2 tablespoon of marinara). Now my wife love the steak sandwich. They are either short handed or it was the end of a long day because no order that came out was right. Wrong fries, salad or soup they forgot drinks and napkins. Food: (4/5) The food was definitely a bit heavy, but it was really good. The sausage gravy could have used a bit of salt and pepper but I'm glad I got it on the side of the waffles so I could control how much I ate. I also tried the French toast with some toppings. That was a also really good (maybe a bit too sweet, so I should have picked different toppings). Service: (4/5) Staff is great. They are so accommodating. This is one of New Jersey's famous vintage diners tucked in a small town in South Jersey. Lots of tables and booths to sit at with very attentive wait staff. Odd that they did not have ginger ale, so I went with pink lemonade. Very sweet. We ordered burgers for lunch which came with a side of fries and coleslaw. My partner got the bacon cheeseburger and I got the NJ Turnpike burger. My burger was missing the bleu cheese and I didn't get a pickle like my partner. The burgers were good and so were the crispy fries. The service was very good and, it seems like a friendly place to work as all of the servers had a good camaraderie. Definitely worth checking out if you're in the area. read more

We come here so often now, that they know us! My go-to for dinner is their broiled stuffed flounder. THE BEST in the area. I'm hard pressed to think of a better version of this dish, outside of the shore. Even there, I'm stumped. It's so tasty, a really nice-sized portion (you get two nice pieces at dinner) and never greasy. Joey is crazy for their chicken cheese steaks and stuffing. We both love their soups as well. Unfortunately, their tiny (but really good!) salad bar is defunct right now b/c of COVID. I love their homemade Thousand Island dressing! Breakfast foods are dynamite too. They have all of the "usuals," but a bigger and better version of them than other diners by far! We always have stellar, smiling, service. Just watch when you get take out - there are errors half the time - oops. Still and all, I'm giving a 5-star review because the food is THAT good! read more

After reading the reviews, we decided to give this place a try. We were immediately seated after checking in. The diner is long and is very much a retro diner on the inside. The majority of the seats are blue-and-green booths, which make up the front of the restaurant. The middle of the diner is composed of mini booths while the back of the diner has regular tables. There is also counter seating and from there, you can watch the waitresses enter and exit the kitchen and fill up drinks. Many areas of the diner are covered in reflective "metal", with interesting-looking white lamps hanging over the tables. We all ordered from the breakfast specials menu. I ordered two eggs over easy served with home fried potatoes with scrapple and wheat toast. I also ordered the orange juice. I got grossed out by my toast because they slathered my toast with margarine. It was very white looking. Note to self. Always request toast not to be buttered and to be puton the side. Eggs were great as well as the home fried potatoes. Scrapple was good as well. Hubs had the Breakfast burger, which is an 8 oz Angus burger topped with a fried egg, bacon and American cheese. It also came with a side of home fries. He ordered it rare with Swiss cheese and got cranberry juice. The burger was nice and humongous and it came out, surprisingly, rare. I was expecting it to be cooked through but it was rare and Hubs was happy. Daughter ordered the Fish and grits, which is fried filet of flounder that's served with a bowl of grits. She also ordered a pineapple juice. Grits were very creamy. Daughter thought her entrée was delicious. The fish was perfectly breaded and she thought the grits were delicious. We had a lot of orange juice, cranberry and pineapple juice left over, so we got a cup to go and poured them all in one cup. Service was quick and friendly. Will definitely return to try other items on the menu. read more

I went because I saw good reviews here. Just so-so in my book. Broccoli soup had huge hunks of broccoli that I had to cut with a knife first. Chicken Francaise was nicely cooked and a good portion, but the sauce was sticky and gloppy and the angel hair was overcooked. Coconut custard pie was a big disappointment. Seemed like it had been in the fridge for a week - hard on top and a crust that was gummy and dry at the same time. Next time I'll just go back to Ponzio's. read more

This place is a solid diner! Me and my boyfriend were shopping at the outlets and got super hungry. We searched up some diners in the area and sadly their aren't a lot of diners near Blackwood so we decided to check it out. The waiters are super friendly and checks up on you often. I got a turkey club which came with fries and a cup of soup. Turkey was a little dry but overall a hefty club sandwich. The fries were thick and crispy. My boyfriend got a traditional breakfast with two eggs, sausage, ham, bacon, French toast and pancakes. I've never seen this before! You get everything good for breakfast in one plate. We visited the Meadows for breakfast on Memorial Day. We arrived a just before 10am and our party of 4 was seated right away. Service was prompt, especially considering how busy it was. We were offered multiple coffee refills (tasty Lacas coffee) and had a filling breakfast. I had a numbered special which was a Greek Omelette with hash browns, toast and small OJ included. My husband had corned beef hash (homemade), eggs, home fries, toast, and a side of scrapple. Our cousins had French toast, bacon and eggs and the Meadows special with eggs, one pancake, and bacon. We all agreed it was a great, tasty breakfast and that the Meadows is the best diner in the vicinity. It's as good as I remember it from when I lived in the area over 15 years ago. Ordered take out a few nights ago. During covid they are having their full menu options. They were very nice when answering the phone and the order was on time and delicious. Sorry I didn't take pics. But we were starving. Lol. Some of ya got breakfast and others got dinners. In the new times we are encountering with this virus I am thankful that this diner is still operating and able to give its customers what they want. I have a keto style of life, and, when requesting spinach (sautéed) in place of potatoes, was rudely turned down saying all they had was mixed vegetables. Take it or leave it she said. I came here Friday morning with my husband and two year old son, I get very nervous going to eat with my son because not a lot of places like a busy two year old touching everything. The food was basic diner food, I got the sausage gravy over biscuit, my husband got a Mediterranean omelet, I believe and my son got the Mickey Mouse pancake.
