Was surprised to have a short wait on a Sunday after church. Was told 15 mins, and it was about that time. Was escorted to our table by a lovely hostess, but that's when the stellar service ended. A woman came over to our table who ended up being our server to abruptly tell us to hand her the tip that was on the table. The table hadn't been bussed from the previous occupants, our server didn't acknowledge that, or greet us, or introduce herself, she just told us, "hand me that money please". Welcome to Jersey I guess! Anyhow, it's a typical NJ diner with an unnecessarily massive menu, extremely large portions, but still relatively fair pricing. Our server was clearly experienced, but she was very curt and not friendly at all. Food was plentiful and mostly enjoyed. The hash browns were burnt, and very different, as the texture under the top crust was like mashed potatoes and they weren't seasoned at all. The eggs needed salt and pepper also. The French toast was good. The French toast with apples was also good, but had too much apple and whipped cream. It was like a dessert. This had become my Saturday go to place as it's midway between two stops I make every weekend. Although I'm a single cover, I spent a decade in hospitality so I made my server's time well worthwhile. Literally zoomed in to grab two desserts to go. Easy access off of Atlantic City Expressway. We wanted a diner vibe with bakery and this is the place we found. Walked in and was greeted by very friendly staff who were very polite and helpful. Went to the dessert cafe and ordered a slice of strawberry shortcake and a Whoopie pie. They were both huge and very reasonable. The strawberry cake was great! Light, fluffy and lots of filling. Not overly sickening sweet at all. The Whoopie pie was just as good. We ate them in the car! I used to live down the street from this diner and it has remained so consistent for more than 5 years. I really enjoy the dinner specials they offer (great variety), the value of the food, and the desserts (their cheesecakes are amazing!) The restaurant is pretty large which means ample seating and parking. The inside is roomy and you don't feel on top of everyone, and the servers are generally nice and very accommodating. Hubby isn't too much of a bacon fan and didn't necessarily love the sandwich itself (I sampled it and thought it tasty ). For me, it was my standard Western omelette with feta which was quite delish. Sides are generally the same...home fries or grits (Your Host had the latter) and toast (unfortunately, multigrain isn't available). This place is also open for dinner and Hubby has mentioned they do a good job there. Jonathan might even like this joint! Atmosphere: it's pretty, warm, and comfortable. Well, we've been going out for breakfast every Wednesday morning for the last eight months and we came upon the Lampost diner in clementon nj one of the finest choices we ever made. This past Thursday, I had lunch at the Lamp Post for the first time. I've driven by this diner countless times and always wanted to check it out. That day, we were a party of three; my boss and coworker were treating me to lunch since it was a special occasion. The diner is situated on a large, private lot, so there's ample parking. We all met at the main entrance. When we entered, the host greeted us and asked if we had a preference on where to be seated (FYI - the diner layout is sprawling inside, so there's different areas). She led us to a table towards the left side of the building. I enjoyed my lunch - I went with a chicken cordon bleu panini that comes with fries. Hit the spot for a workday lunch. Our waitress was really nice also. Friendly, funny, and took care of us - checking in if we needed anything, side conversations and recommendations, and just a positive vibe. My best friend and I were looking for a new place to check out during one of those nights when we didn't know what mood we were in a few months ago. Visited this place at my sisters recommendation after she had a great experience. The diner is extremely clean and beautiful. Its actually the largest diner I have ever been dined in. The staff is extremely nice and it didnt take long to be seated. We visited in the afternoon but I was craving breakfast, so I got a belgium waffle with apples and whipped cream on top. The waffle was cooked a little too well because it was hard and the apple pie filling used wasnt really good. However, my daughter enjoyed her mickey mouse pancakes. My sister had a shrimp fajita that she enjoyed also. However, despite how the waffle wasnt really to my liking, I cannot brag ENOUGH about the customer service we received. Our waitress Michelle was an absolute ANGEL! The care, patience, attetiveness, and kindness she displayed to us was top notch. I would definitely return and give this place another try just based on her customer service alone. She also bragged so much about how well the owner treats the staff. This made me so happy because often times the waitresses at diner come across so unhappy due to how leadership treats them, which affects the service they provide. I don't usually like diner's (shhh, don't tell the foodies). Anyway, despite my lack of diner-love, I had a nice experience here last week. The diner was very busy for a Monday night, but our party of 4 only waited about 10 minutes for a table. Our waitress was very kind and quick to come over and take our drink and food order. She assured me she could put the gravy for the chicken and waffles I ordered on the side without hassle. I am always grateful when servers don't make you feel silly for special requests (within reason of course). After our food came out we really didn't see her again so we waited awhile once we were finished eating for the check and we ran out of drinks without anyone offering to refill. I definitely attribute this to the place being understaffed and overcrowded. The bread served in the beginning is pretty average and the water had a metallic taste so definitely order some other drink. Oh and the cannoli we had, was extremely cinnamon tasting, very caught of guard there. Those are really the reasons this wasn't a 5 star review! read more

I'm extremely upset with what I've witnessed and overheard in your restaurant regarding how a female staff member is being treated. When a young woman feels uncomfortable around male coworkers, management should support her and handle the situation with care, not make it worse. Instead, I've heard your manager (I believe his name is Chris) speaking negatively about her and other employees to the hostesses. This is incredibly unprofessional, childish, and not behavior you'd expect from someone in a leadership role. Over the past two weeks, I've been in your restaurant multiple times and have overheard similar conversations. It's disturbing to hear managers talk this way about staff, especially when it comes to something so serious. Gaslighting or dismissing employees is unacceptable, and it's far from how an owner or manager should act. To make matters worse, I recently came in and overheard management speaking as if this young woman's feelings don't even matter. Do you not believe her? She is clearly already upset, and this treatment only makes her feel more devalued. As a customer, I'm shocked that this type of behavior is tolerated. Is it really acceptable for male employees to act however they want, without anyone stepping in to protect staff? It shouldn't matter how the owner or manager personally feels, it matters how your staff feels, especially when they're uncomfortable or feel unsafe. All of your managers are male, and it's clear they have no understanding of what it feels like to be a woman in that position, being made to feel uncomfortable or disrespected. Their desserts are on display and booths and tables are there but not too many that you're squeezing by to get to your table. The waiter recommended the bacon cheeseburger and it was good. Fries are delicious. My husband had the bison burger and he said, it's good but dry. My son ordered the crab eggs Benedict with hash browns. Liked the dish but hash browns were only brown on the top. I ordered my first hot chocolate of the season and it came without whipped cream. It's not a big deal but it's on the menu and says with whipped cream. We ordered a slice of peanut butter and cannoli cheese cake to go. We both agreed the cheesecake was creamy. Cannoli cream was a thin layer with mini chocolate chips sprinkled on it. If I didn't know it was cannoli cream I would've never guessed that's what it was supposed to be. Peanut butter also thin on top. I wouldn't recommend either. I had studied the menu in advance of our visit and had determined I would select a speciality pancake. At the final moment of ordering, I opted for the blueberry a la mode pancakes with sides of pork roll and bacon (I couldn't choose between them). I also ordered a vanilla latte, and it was tasty. My pancakes came out with a literal bucket's worth of blueberries on and in them. I definitely hit my daily serving of fruit for that day. They were delicious but after a while I did have to push some of the topping off. It went well with the vanilla ice cream, which was in a separate bowl (smart). If you order this, know that your mouth will turn purple. When the pork roll arrived, I said, "Yay, it's burnt!" And the server knew I was genuinely excited -- she replied that's her preferred way to eat it too. It was quite tasty! However, side of the day award goes to the bacon. Omg! So so crispy and perfect.
