We have a new leader in the Deptford area ice cream wars! What a little gem. First of all, there is a dizzying amount of choices here, but that's actually ok, because if you can't make up your mind, you can go ahead and get an ice cream flight of 4 flavors, (even though 2 flights might be better with how many choices there are!) Hungry? How about a hot dog? Funnel cake? Waffles? Oh, you like soft serve? Gotcha....20+ flavors. I got the belgian waffle sandwich with strawberry cheesecake ice cream, and it was heavenly! The price was good, and very comparable to what you would be paying for much worse ice cream, *I'm looking at you Scoopys Too....*. There is shaded seating, you can pay with a card....there isn't much to dislike. As I mentioned, my ice cream was fantastic, and 3 of the 4 flavors in my daughters flight were also top notch, but the smores flavor was overly chemical. What a find! We were leaving the mall and my daughter wanted ice cream. Google sent me to Hilltop. Thank you google! So. Small unassuming place but the menu of flavors and offerings is almost as big as the building. Must be a few hundred offerings. While waiting our turn, we asked another customer what was good. He gave the generic "everything " but when pressed said to try the banana pudding strawberry shake. The menu was still daunting so I said what the heck and gave it a try. Pure Heaven through a straw. It was soooo sooooo good. I would have never thought about a shake as ai always get sundaes and I definitely would not have combined those flavors. What an amazing combination. I cannot express in words how good it was. To the gentleman who made the suggestion, you sir are my hero. Thank you thank you thank you. While about an hour away, we will have no problem making that drive to enjoy that taste of pure heaven again. We will be back! read more

I enjoy this place but the past several times my ice cream has tasted like soap or cleaner and I have had to ask for it to be redone, that's just gross. The portion sizes vary depending on which girl is scooping your ice cream too, it can be worth it or very expensive. read more

Stumbled on this place on the way home from Jersey. My oldest son traveled with me, so I rewarded the both of us with some tasty ice cream. The building itself looks like it's been there for quite awhile. There is plenty of parking on site. You have your walk up windows, menu's and a nice covered seating area to the right with picnic tables. The tables were spotless and trash can's were clean and kept up with. The staff was nice and friendly and helped us out with the menu. They have quite a bit of an offering: soft serve, sundae's, regular ice cream, water ice, pretzels, Nathan's Hot Dogs, etc. As we waited for our order I could see that the equipment looked clean and maintained. My son went with root beer water ice (Philly Water Ice brand), I went with my usual PB and chocolate ice cream. I'm not sure which brand of ice cream they sell, but it was delicious and my son really enjoyed his water ice. The roof over our heads came in handy as a steady rain moved in. With a couple of bottles of water, our order was a whopping $7 and change .. We had a nice experience here and a great father son moment sharing some icy treats on a hot summer day! Sooooo many delicious flavors. I kind of want to try each one before summer is over ( personal challenge lol) Every single flavor under the sun. Also vegan/dairy free/and diet friendly choices available. This trip I had the new white chocolate raspberry truffle and pistachio cone. Cute new little thing I noticed this summer is that they have "flights" so if you're undecided you get a scoop of different flavors in a little tray (can also get a water ice flight) Definitely feels like an instant trip back to childhood every time I go there. Best ice cream spot in the area. Selection is enormous, prices are great and the staff is friendly and pretty quick, even when it's busy.

If you're an ice cream aficionado you have to add Hilltop to your list of places to visit. The ice cream is Warning: they have over 40+ flavors to choose from so you may end up with a quadruple scoop! They also have soft serve and water ice with many flavors. One of the things I appreciate about Hilltop is they are open year round (but check hours because they fluctuate) and they have unique flavors. I love coconut and pumpkin. Their cookies and cream is fantastic as is their rum raisin. The lines can get long but don't worry. You move quickly to get your scoops, which is impressive because most of the workers are younger and they are on it! Fun fact/ they have pup cups and my dog doesn't do well with lactose and they have vegan choices. Make a trip, you won't be disappointed. read more

I was very happy to be chauffeured to this longtime ice cream haunt by my lovely companion today. She informs me that ownership has changed a few times throughout the years, but by all indications they are still committed to providing great frozen treats at decent prices. I was also happy to see some interesting flavors on hand. Of the 20 or more hand scoops, I picked death by chocolate and salty caramel, but would have also been very happy with my partner's ice cream cake flavor. For the seniors who may be reading this, they even have rum raisin( not sure what the draw is for you guys?) Also of note is the sign that advertised 24 varieties of soft serve. But I have doubts as to whether our frazzled but friendly server could figure out how to make them all. They also feature 6 or more options of Italian ice that can be utilized to create gelatis( as in Rita's signature concoction) On my hopefully soon next visit that will be my pick. Aside from the frozen delectables,you can also feast on Philly pretzels, wieners( their terminology) and fresh waffles. This business is tentatively planning to close for the season November 1, so don't hesitate to check it out before then. I love this place! Its homey and has really good quality ice cream and frozen yogurt (plus hot dogs and soft pretzels) AND great prices! Their servings are very generous and they give you so many sprinkles - they start w some on the bottom so you enjoy your cup of luscious ness all the way to the last spoon! This used to be a dirty looking place and I have fond memories when it was Campies years ago, which I still partially miss, but it truly is such an improvement! After an amazing dinner my dauhhter and I wanted a taste of ice cream and Hilltop Creamery looked like ot would fit the bill. I ordered a small cone with salted caramel truffle amd my daughter ordered a small cup with mint chocolate chip with sprinkles...or jimmies as they call them in South Jersey. The ice cream was delicious...smooth, creamy and very flavorful. I imagine this place is packed in the summer. Only negative was that the two high schoolers who were working were slow...very slow. We left messages with the business and were sent harassing text messages from the owner. Definitely would not recommend giving them your business. Staff was extremely rude. My husband and I are ice cream connoisseurs. We taste test ice cream everywhere we go. Any town we happen to be in from Camden to Cape May we check out the nearest ice cream stand and grab a soft serve twist. We've been doing this for years and I must say the best tasting ice cream we've ever encounter so far was from Hilltop Creamery in Blackwood, NJ. Hilltop Creamery has the best soft serve ice cream ever! Their vanilla/chocolate soft serve is so rich, not overbearingly sweet and has a delicious taste. The ice cream texture is so, so smooth and creamy it's heavenly, we've never had soft serve like it anywhere. And I can't forget the cone. The cone is light and airy with a perfect crunch to it, the taste is perfect. I simply love Hilltop Creamery. Oh, and if you love Gelati, the water ice part is simply delicious and never too grossly sweet. read more

Found this place on Yelp and was excited to give it a try. They have later hours on Friday and Saturday which is nice, I believe they are open till about 10:30. I got my favorite chocolate peanut butter on a pretzel cone. Ice cream tasted fresh and the salty cone pairs perfect with it. I am interested in their hot dogs (I am a hot dog conesuer) so I will definitely be back for their buy 1 get to half off special! Overall a solid ice cream stand with plenty of seating. Hilltop has the best soft serve vanilla that I've ever had and they have homemade waffle cones that I could buy alone and eat like a cookie! Just delicious. A week or so ago, I saw someone get a regular ice cream cone so I got two scoops of Salted Caramel on a waffle cone that visit. Also delicious. Not the best I've ever had but up there with the best. My only tip would be to ask for a small piece of aluminum foil to cover the bottom of the waffle cone and keep it from leaking, if you get one. read more

I got the chocolate chip cookie dough on a cone and I ordered two scoops. It was a little bit small for what I was expecting, but overall it was pretty good. My boyfriend got the monkey bones flavor and loved it as well as the moose tracks. The moose tracks was not as good as the monkey bones, but overall he was still pretty pleased with the size and taste of both flavors. Drove over to check out the place for the 1st time. The lights were on and 2 employees were inside and they saw me standing at the window. Even though they were probably cleaning up for the evening. They could have had the courtesy to tell me that they closed at such and such time or just that they were closed, instead of ducking down whilst cleaning. They do have soft serve and a lot of flavor choices: start with the vanilla ice cream, add the flavor syrup, mix together, and serve on a cone/dish. Pay attention to the size offerings. I once had a large sundae and it was a very generous portion! Seating has never been an issue and I've always found a place to park. Wednesday nights are car nights. Parking lot is a bit crowded, but everyone has been friendly. They do accept cash and credit, and the wait usually isn't too long. My only wish is that they make the ice cream themselves!
