I have been to a lot of restaurants in the Zion area and this is one of my favorites! It is home-cooked goodness at its finest. Plan to come here when you have some time on your hands because this is a true restaurant experience, not fast casual. Everything is made to order, not sitting in a warming drawer. The wait staff is young, kind and personable! In addition to delivering food recommendations, they are happy to divulge secrets about the Zion area and fill your schedule with must-dos. Now on the the food: the menu has a large variety so there is something for everyone. I personally love the crab cakes, cowboy caviar, Southwest salad, country fried steak, and the sirloin. I would not skip a course here as there is something great for every point in your meal. They have a fantastic drink selection! Whether you are interested in an adult beverage or a more family-friendly option, they got you covered with the most extensive menu in Southern Utah. I loooovve the salted caramel shake. Sept 22 we arrived at 7:15 PM and got to-go orders. We waited 1.5 hours, and when we finally got our order the pasta looked like the attached picture. No seasoning, no salt. Worse pasta I've ever had! And we got two of these priced at $17 each! I looked around and there were 20 other people who were also waiting hours for their food. And they kept seating more people even though they couldn't fulfill their existing orders! We should get a refund, this is unacceptable. I expect management to chime in here. read more

Folks, this place is the bomb. We were staying in an AirBNB and decided we wanted pizza. This place pops up less than 5 minutes from our cabin. First of all, the building itself is newly renovated and looks super cool. The employees were very friendly and did everything they could to make us feel at home. Then the food came. The pizza was amazing! We were blown away by this place. Great giftshop and they even gave us some free cookies to take home. I cant imagine a better place to eat after a long day hiking at Zion. We got there at around 6:30 and they were very accommodating with our large party even when they were closing in 30 min. The Moqueca was delicious and the kids loved the pizza and fries! They were especially excited about the mushrooms on it. The brisket burger was super delicious and the skewers were also super good! We have stayed at Zion Ponderosa Ranch Resort twice. Both times we had Thanksgiving dinner at Ray's. As a guest of the resort, you also get breakfast every day included. Our first trip, I though Ray's was pretty good. They had a couple good local brews on tap. The food was hearty and a decent value for a resort. One of the reasons I wanted to go back to Zion Ponderosa was that Ray's was such a convenient place to get a good meal. Five years later, I am sorry to say my experience of Ray's was not good. Our second trip was during the time of COVID, so I understand there are a lot of new challenges. However, it just felt like some of the Ray's staff had given up. Breakfast was buffet style. The greeter each day was wearing a mask, but it was pulled down so it did not cover her nose. She was very unfriendly. I felt like I was imposing on her to just get seated. I am a tea drinker, but all they had was herbal teas. I asked if they had any black tea. She looked at me as if I was from a different planet and said all their tea was in the display. What is really strange is that they have a coffee bar where they make espresso, cappuccino, and such, but they don't have black tea. SMH. I stopped going to breakfast after the second day. It did not seem like anyone - guests or staff - were too interested in keeping masks on while they were walking around the dining room. For Thanksgiving dinner, we arrived early. It took quite awhile to get seated even though we had a reservation. Once seated, it took additional time to order any type of drink. That may have been because one of the servers was too busy hitting on the attractive women at the table next to ours. Anyway, I could go on a bit more, but you get the idea. MUST READ: We found out while visiting that the management of this restaurant changed this year, and therefore this restaurant is worthy of better views. We were staying at this resort with our family and for the last night we ate at the restaurant. We were wishing we tried it sooner and would have eaten there more of the nights! The food here has kind of a southern style, where the chef, Charles (from the south) smokes the BBQ for hours before. Surprisingly the BBQ feels like it is straight from the south! They had great options including BBQ beef, smoked pork belly, etc. but they also have non-BBQ options like salads, burgers, sandwiches, etc. I got the peach salad which was incredible! The burger was probably my favorite dish we tried, but the Cuban sandwich was also amazing. Charles was a very great host and very friendly. Next time I come to stay at this place I will be sure to eat here again! read more

Absolutely do not recommend this restaurant. We were excited to get a nice meal after a long day of hiking and spent $75 (with tip) only to get sick immediately from the chicken pot pie. It was practically just a bowl of oil with some chunks of clearly frozen chicken and topped with a mushy crust. Two bites in and I had to stop eating because it settled so badly in my stomach. The Caesar salad was very pretty, but was also served with clearly frozen chicken and next-to-no dressing. Glenn was the friendliest and most responsive, but most of the other employees ranged from bored to downright grouchy. This was our first time in Utah and staying at Zion Ponderosa Ranch. Ray's was great option for food. We had breakfast every morning and ordered iced coffees through the Narrows coffee window. Dinner was also wonderful. We had pizza one night and burgers another. So delicious!!! Staff was so sweet and amazing. Especially Charles! Let's be honest. Ray's serves a captive audience at Ponderosa resort. Those raving 5 star reviews, maybe from the staff and family that run the resort. They have lots of choices and if you are hungry this is the place to eat. Line can get long, but the food didn't take that long to come out. Out table of 4, with the 3 sides of fry's asked for napkins and ketchup. We got a single little to go container of ketchup. I ate at Rays 3 times while staying at the ponderosa. First meal: dinner buffet with salad bar. Salad bar was actually fresh and good. The hot items change daily. My day was barbecue. The pork ribs were extremely tough and they didn't know to remove the membrane from the underside of the ribs prior to cooking. The barbecue chicken was bland. The brisket was essentially the consistency of a pot roast. The other two meals were breakfast which came with our rental and was essentially standard hotel continental breakfast but with cold eggs. They did have salsa and shredded cheese for the eggs which I appreciate. I did not order anything off the dinner menu so I cannot speak to anything from it. read more
