I was referred to Poindexter by a neighbor, and I'm SO GLAD I convinced my mom to use them for her storage move. This was a move from one storage place to another, but we plan on using them when we move later this year. These guys were everything you could wish for with movers: - professional - polite - quick - conscious of anything that she asked them to be extra careful with - they explained their plan and executed it as it was explained to her - they made sure she was confident with what they were doing and put her at ease despite her previous worries. We were a bit shocked price, at first, but it has been many years since either of us has used movers. Also, they were still cheaper than the company the new storage place had recommended (even with a discount!) Gino and Solomon were more than worth the price. They take care to wrap large furniture in blankets and also you can add on mattress bags, TV boxes, and wardrobe boxes which were great. Anthony from the company called and was very apologetic for the service we received which I was appreciative of, even attempted to make it right by refunding that extra hours worth of service it shouldn't have had to take moving. In addition to the refund, Anthony offered to send someone out for repairs. First off this is the first company that returned my call in a timely manner, within minutes, the others the following day or not at all. Second their professionalism is top notch plus very friendly. I can tell they enjoy what they do and I didn't feel like I was just another job to handle. As for the move itself moving is never fun but this was the most enjoyable move I've ever experienced. My husband and I have moved more than a dozen times in our 33+ year marriage. Six of those were cross-country. We never had a problem with a single move. Then we hired Poindexter. Big mistake. I checked reviews on a number of sites before hiring this highly rated company. I prefer to use local businesses when I can, so I decided to go with them. When you call the office, perky Kimberly answers the phone, friendly and eager to help. She emails an estimate to you within minutes. They don't do in-home estimates? No, they don't find it necessary. I thought that odd, but went ahead anyway. Hey, it was a three-mile move, and we don't own a lot of expensive furniture, antiques, etc. The only thing I was concerned about was my adjustable bed, which I need to sleep on due to medical conditions. She assured me that there would be no problem, so I paid the deposit fee and set the date. Moving day arrived. It was raining. The three employees showed up late. I showed them what needed to be packed (part of our kitchen and one closet be packed) and gave them notes on moving the bed I'd received from the manufacturer. Two of the guys seemed sullen; the third guy never stopped talking. All day. Finally, the packing was done and they began to load the truck. It was still raining. Poindexter makes it a point to tell you what materials the movers will bring. Among them is shrink wrap. I think they must charge employees to use it. Despite the rain (and the drainage cascading onto the stairs to our apartment), the employees shrink-wrapped almost nothing, and didn't even cover things with blankets. The rain had not let up when they arrived at the new place. They brought my bed frame up from the truck dripping wet, electronics exposed, no covering at all. The mattress and topper were not covered either, and looked as though they'd been dragged around the inside of the truck. I called the bedding company while they continued to unload. While trying to salvage the bed, one of the guys brought a wardrobe box upstairs and asked if he should unpack it. Distracted, I said yes. Big mistake. I am highly allergic to cats, and some things in a downstairs closet had been exposed to dander. One of the employees brought a box clearly marked "First Floor Closet" upstairs and proceeded to shove contaminated clothing from that closet among the clothes in my upstairs closet. We had to empty that closet and clean it from floor to ceiling to prevent me from having to make a trip to an emergency room. Finally, they were done. We got no copies of the bills of lading--they just had me sign off. By that time all I wanted was to get them off my property and out of my life. We began to assess the damage--to the mattresses and toppers (the bed frame worked), as well as a bookcase and several fairly expensive lampshades, all of which could have been prevented by shrink-wrapping. They'd also knocked the bottom out of our large, wide filing cabinet, which is now unusable, and tried to leave it in the middle of our garage. My husband had to ask them to move it to the side so we'd be able to park. Finally--the cherry atop the sundae of this day--I found that one of the employees had used a bathroom in the new apartment and left a disgusting mess for us to clean up. A number of things that were supposed to be moved at the old apartment, and their trash was everywhere. As we began to unpack, we found more damage from poor packing--things broken or bent, thrown haphazardly into boxes, barely wrapped. Two months later, I'm still finding damage. Two weeks after the move, I called perky Kimberly to report the damage we'd found so far. Suddenly, Kimberly wasn't perky. There was a deafening silence on the line. When she did begin to speak, she was extremely defensive, and repeatedly told me that the employees were only sent out with the materials listed on the site and so on (what good is shrink-wrap if it's not used?). I sent her photos of the damage. She replied that her boss, Anthony, would contact us. My husband fielded that. Anthony reiterated the same things Kimberly had told me. The call ended in a shouting match when my husband told him that he wasn't as concerned about the damage to our property as he was about the health risk to which his employees had exposed me. Anthony had no answer to that. After consulting our lawyer and because we wanted to be done with this mess, we ended up settling for the amount the minimal moving insurance we'd opted for offered--less than ten percent of the damage we incurred. I would not trust an employee of Poindexter Moving to move their bowels properly, and I saw the proof. We have never experienced such carelessness, inefficiency, unprofessionalism, irresponsibility, and disregard for property as we did with this company. This was the worst move we've ever experienced, and one of the worst companies we've ever had to deal with. And it was all preventable with a little care, common sense, and shrink wrap. read more

We did our research and called several movers for quotes. Poindexter was professional from the get go. They came out for a quote and were very professional and fast. Reviewed what we had to move and we're in and out in 5 -10 mins. We received a quote within 2 hours. Although they were not the cheapest we appreciate the professionalism and follow up. We decided to go with their team and in 2 days it was moving time. They arrived on time with the truck and 4 guys- Eric the driver and the helpers; Ricky, Tyler, and Alex. They were always professional. They pointed out existing blemishes and were very polite. They always had a positive attitude and were respectful of us and each other. Everyone got along and were polite. They finished in 4 hours to the dot. We have over 30 pieces of Funiture and they took the time to blanket wrap and plastic wrap. They were careful of the walls and stairs and really packed the truck to perfection. The load was about 2.5 hours and the unload just under 1.5. They put bed together and were very helpful. Ive hired Poindexter now two times and they've been wonderful both times!!! First time I hired them was just to move me and nice to pack and move me. Once you hit a certain age you just gotta hire movers, your friends don't want to pull their back out for cheap beer and pizza - and when you're trusting someone with all of your stuff you want it to be a reputable company, hire Poindexter! Their guys were communicative, on time, friendly and got right down to business. They ask every time they weren't sure if they should touch certain things (like my closet, TV, valuables) which I appreciated. Only bad thing is we're pretty sure they broke the glass shelves to our bar cart after I called they said they would ask around but never got back to me. But i only put the basic insurance so even if I filed a claim, I wouldn't have gotten much money so I didn't bother. It's not a dealbreaker for me tho, I'm going to hire them again next time I move!! Today this company moved me and my movers were Clay, Anthony and Geno. These guys were absolutely the freakin best. I had wayyyy more stuff then I expected and some pretty hard ass piece to move but the got it done and carefully too. Now I literally paid one months rent for them to move me.... yes you heard that right.... ONE MONTHS RENT !!! Glad I didn't need additional insurance because they were so careful. I gave Anthony a run for his money today lmfao he said "when I see your name on the list when it's time for you to move, I'm calling in that day lol" and I don't blame him either this was a lot today. We found a great deal through Groupon for this company. I don't normally write reviews, but these guys are worth it! They were on time (5 minutes early) and ready to work at 8AM. Our new apartment was just 2 miles away, but they did an excellent job securing our items in the truck and moving them safely up 3 flights of stairs. Top notch movers!!! I messaged them through the Yelp app and had a very quick response. The estmator came at a convenient time and was very thorough in reviewing what I'd need. Once we agreed on the number of guys for the job we set the date I needed without hassle. The prices were very reasonable and there no hidden fees at the end. On the move day everyone showed up on time and worked VERY quickly to load up the entire 2200sq ft house in one truckload with no breaks! When offloading the guys were very thoughtful not to damage any items or the new house. Everything was reassembled to my satisfaction and all the wrapping and packing materials went with them. I found these guys through Groupon and was a little skeptical by the name, but lucky for me they were complete pros! They were on time, ready to work, and the smiles were a nice addition. I only used 1 of the 2 hours the Groupon included, so it would have been nice to get reimbursed or additional services for that extra hour...but overall the guys were great & friendly too!
