This place is located at the corner of the street. The entrance area has the bar and a couple of tables. There are more tables further inside the restaurant. The decor was nice and the restaurant had lots of light inside. I was sat almost immediately at a two person table. The servers quickly helped us and the food came out at a reasonable time. This place offers a variety of unique dishes. I opted for the sausage and shrimp grits, a pistachio latte, and my partner ordered the coastal benedict. I've never had grits before but it was delicious and the flavors of the shrimp and sausage complimented each other. The coastal benedict had lots of flavor and a good portion of crab meat. The crispy potatoes were a nice balance to the benedict. I do recommend trying any of their specialty lattes because the pistachio latte was so flavorful. I would definitely come back to enjoy with some friends. read more

Came in for brunch on a Sunday morning. Thankfully got there right at 9am when they opened and got seated right away. There was a line before they opened as well. It's cute inside and a nice little area with tables outside along the restaurant. We ordered drinks, tried the duck hash, sweet flight, and a couple other entrees. The food came out and all food is plated nicely. The duck hash was great and had a nice smoky taste. Wish there was a little more duck with all the veggies. Salad and toast with it was as expected. Roasted potatoes with my friends plates were cooked well, so delish and good texture to the potatoes. Sweet flight was ok but thought they'd be better or fluffier and didn't quite meet expectations. Brunch is the most important meal of the day, it's my personal favorite. I'm very big on a light breakfast and then doubling down with a heavier lunch, and Plain Jane delivers. The establishment itself is very lovely, being able to host large parties in a cozy intimate fashion. The plates, mugs, and food made me feel like I was at my grandmas house because it was so cute and so filling. The service and care we where given while we came was top notch, bringing all our food at the same time, ensuring my cup was always full, and keeping an eye out for us and our needs. Plain Jane is the type of place I want to go for my birthday, to celebrate, and to enjoy my friends company. The food is amazing, with a menu that has flavor and variety. We came by on a Friday morning and there was NO WAIT at all! Amazing! The service was amazing. The coffee was also pretty good. Monte cristo: so so so yummy. I've had it once at another restaurant (a bite) and I didn't really like it. But I was drawn to the photos so I ordered it and it was so delicious. I need to get a bigger stomach so I can eat more Hong Kong style french toast: very sweet and yummy but definitely meant for a dessert and would be too much as a meal. Chicken and red velvet waffle: the waffle was very tasty and filling. The chicken came out incredibly fried and delicious. No notes here! Lobster scramble: there were piles of lobster. We were nervous because we thought that the lobster might not be fresh/taste as good but it was yummy! Not at all fishy and absolutely delicious! read more

Went to brunch on Monday afternoon. The waitress was extremely rude. I politely said excuse me. Excuse me excuse me. Trying to get her attention. She proceeded to keep her back turned to me. When she turned around she said I can't talk to right now I'm pouring juice. I'm like, okay mam: well, you can at least acknowledge me and and say give me a moment. She proceeded to get furious and say "no I can't acknowledge you because I'm busy pouring juice!! Then she brought our check for only our mimosas and appetizers. And refused to continue to serve us. Other waiters had to come over to take our order. She said IM DONE WITH YOU. I'm not serving you anymore. All because I was trying to get her attention to let her know we were ready to order.. but she refused to acknowledge me because she's too busy pouring orange juice. Very rude. Horrible service. HER name was Tina. I go to many restaurants and NEVER have I ever Left a bad review. I totally hate restaurants that specialize in 3200 calorie breakfasts. I adore Plain Jane. This is because Plain Jane is SO MUCH BETTER than the typical over-stuffed french toast, eggs benedict and mimosa cliche place. * * * I do not like being sloshed after breakfast. I do not like being stuffed full of sugar and starch that only tastes of sugar and starch. There is more mediocre hollandaise sauce out there than you can point a finger at. * * * Plain Jane blows all of those cliches away. Okay, I didn't drink, so I can not talk about the quality of their alcoholic offerings. But their Monte Cristo sandwich is a wonder. This is the breakfast sandwich of your dreams. Yes, it is huge. Yes, it contains enough calories to get you through the winter. Actually, there are enough calories to get you through a winter in Siberia. But the Monte Cristo sandwich is an absolute taste wonder. Their secret? 1) Use a hundred zillion ingredients. (Lots of people do that.) 2) Have each ingredient at the peak of flavor so it can stand out in a crowded mouthful. (Almost nobody does that) 3) Mix the composition of the sandwich around so that every single bite tastes different. (See the almost nobody line above.) The result: An endlessly fascinating breakfast experience that completely occupied my attention. Everyone else at my table adored what they got. * * * There is a line to get into Plain Jane. Plain Jane has long been one of my favorite spots in the Mission. The food is incredible and there are never the lines of other places. But somewhere along the way they've decided to start treating customers -- even regulars -- like trash. I think I'm sadly done after about the tenth time I've been told they are closed thirty minutes before their posted closing time. There are loads of great places in the mission who would actually love to serve people brunch. read more

I was looking for a Monte Cristo like the one I used to have, and I finally found it here. I totally recommend this one. The Monte Cristo I used to have was fried, but this one is made with soft bread. I actually like this version more, because fried bread sometimes hurts the roof of my mouth. This sandwich was so good and reminded me exactly of the Monte Cristo I remember. PJ's Sweet Flight is such a great choice because you can try the red velvet pancake, fluffy cottage pancake, and pain de mie custard French toast all in one dish. The pancakes aren't overly sweet, which I really loved. We also ordered the Salad Grande with Dungeness crab meat, and it was another great choice. It paired perfectly with the sweet dishes--whenever the sweetness felt a bit rich, the salad was refreshing and balanced everything out. 10/10- would definitely visit again! Plain Jane's menu selection was very appealing! My husband was searching for brunch spots Saturday morning on Yelp and we quickly headed over and arrived around 11:30am. Line is first come first serve so there wasn't a waitlist. There was maybe 2-3 parties of head of us and it went by fairly quickly. Waited maybe 15 minutes and was promptly seated inside. Lovely ambience, tall ceilings with large windows and decorated fairly bright and fun. Residential street parking available. Took me 1 circle around the neighborhood and found parking a block away fairly quickly. Service was prompt and friendly, and the food we ordered was tasty: 1x New England Lobster Roll with a side of sweet potato fries (extra cost), and coleslaw 1x New England Lobster Scramble with toast 1x iced Pistachio latte (mild in flavor) 1x iced lavender latte Would be very interested in coming back to try other items, especially their fried chicken and waffles! The moment you walk in, the cozy and welcoming energy wraps around you like a hug. Every detail feels intentional. The vibes are effortlessly pleasant, and you can tell this place was made with care. I ordered Jane's Plate, which included this particular scallion bacon pancake with gorgonzola, and let me tell you, it was something amazing, something I've never tasted before- Crispy and presented with detail on the outside, while savory and layered with flavor once you take a bite- it somehow manages to be comforting and totally original at the same time. And don't even get me started on the breakfast potatoes, EVERY single one was golden, crisped to perfection, and seasoned just right! That kind of consistency only comes from people who love what they're doing. It's all about the little things sometimes. There's this joyful inventiveness in every dish that feels rare these days. Ok, i hate spending $65 on breakfast (for two) so it better be good... And the 'Pain de Mie Custard French Toast' did not disappoint! Each bite was filled with a sweet, creamy cheese mixture...it reminded me of the sweet blintzes mom used to make only with crepes instead of bread. Instead of pouring syrup and simply dipped each bit in a bit of maple syrup. Fruit was also fresh and sweet. Only downsize was the very unhappy host that clearly didn't want to be there....kinda like the owner's son that had to work cause mom said so. read more

Honestly, wasn't too impressed my first visit to Plain Jane's, BUT I'm so glad I gave it a second try! I personally didn't love the Chipotle Honey Fried Chicken & Red Velvet Waffle. I ordered this my first visit. The fried chicken wasn't very flavorful and the chipotle sauce didn't do much for me. Red velvet waffle was okay, but didn't like it with the chipotle chicken. The real MVP was the Jane's Plate! Two eggs, chive pancakes, bacon and crispy potatoes. 10/10!!! I'm still thinking about the chive pancakes with a dollop of Gorgonzola Mascarpone cream on top. Amazing. Bacon was crispy, scrambled eggs fluffy and potatoes solid. This restaurant doesn't take reservations, but has plenty of seating and the line moves fast. Last call on food is 1:30, so make sure your entire party is there before then! Also, only 1 bathroom (mostly likely will have a line). I'll definitely be returning for those chive pancakes. read more

Plain Jane was so so delicious. Arrived on a long weekend Monday around 11:30am and waited for about 10 minutes for a table to be seated outside. They had plenty of heaters outside so it wasn't too chilly. I ordered the Coastal Benedict after a lot of deliberation of whether I should splurge on seafood, and it was worth every penny. My plate was loaded with Dungeness crab meat and shrimp, and the flavors meshed so well with the yolky and saucy poached egg. The potatoes were also perfect and crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. Big portion and delicious! Had a bite of the chive pancake as well, which I thought was unique as it's not often that there are savory pancake options. Very tasty. My friends ordered a mimosa carafe which was heavy on the champagne, which is fun if that's the type of brunch vibe you're looking for! I sipped on a red velvet latte, which was bright and vibrantly colored and tasted like liquid dessert in a cup. Great meal and great experience! read more

4.5/5 Frisco omelette: 3.5/5 all the ingredients tasted fresh. It was a standard omelette, nothing extremely surprising. The crispy potatoes were more crispy than I expected, but I'm unsure if I'm a fan of the potatoes. PJ's monte cristo: 5/5: never had anything like it before and I loved it. It was both savory and sweet and would come back for this dish. The salad we got as a side was also great! The food was overall delicious and fresh! Service was attentive and friendly. Becuse of the many good reviews from yelp I decided to give Plain Jane a try for a Sunday brunch The place is very popular be prepared to wait 15 to 30 mn but its worth the wait. I had the Lobter benedict and loved it, lots of good Lobster meat in it however I didn't like the bread they used , I found the bread is too hard to cut and chewy to bite. My companions seems very happy with their orders, over all I love the place but if I had a choice I would choose different bread type for the eggs benedict ! read more

Came here on a Monday at 10AM for a party of 3 and didn't have to wait for a table. When we left around 1130AM, the wait was piling out the door. Great place with good food and portions. Prices range from $25-$35 per dish. 2 meals and one mimosa came out to $90! It's definitely not a cheap eats. But their lobster scramble wasn't skimpy on the meat and they followed instructions on getting my potatoes extra crispy. They also offer great flavors for their mimosas! It's definitely worth a try. But because of their heavy price tag, it's not a place you can regular. read more

We were looking for some brunch in the Mission and decided to stop by here around 1PM. There was surprisingly no wait so we were seated right away. The place had a very cozy and knit environment which is perfect for a brunch setting! There are a variety of brunch options that you can choose from and if you're not too hungry, I'd recommend sharing dishes since the portions can be pretty big. In our case, however, we each got a dish and ordered a drink. Red Velvet Iced Latte (4/5) - The latte tasted like your average latte you get from Starbucks. It had a very light hint of red velvet that you can barely taste. It was good but not really what we wanted. Chipotle Honey Fried Chicken and Red Velvet Waffles (5/5) - The fried chicken and bacon was very crispy and delicious! I really liked how its flavored meshed very well with red velvet waffles. The dish also had a chipotle honey sauce on the side which was ok and honestly just stated like spicy barbecue sauce. New England Lobster Scramble (5/5) - I really liked the lobster and how fresh it was. The eggs were also so soft and melted in your mouth. The summer vegetable hash comes with beans, squash, tomatoes, corn, carrots, peppers and eggs. I typically associate hash with potatoes, but surprisingly this dish does not come with potatoes. The dish was fairly mild, with most of the flavor coming from the individual vegetables. Lol I fully recognize - girl, why did you go to a pizza spot with a gluten and dairy allergy? Yes I am not okay for this hahah but also I felt pretty embarrassed and treated really poorly. This experience doesn't reflect Tony's as a whole, but it was just a terrible interaction and that waiter made it real clear that he has no patience for anything that is inconvenient during his work shift.

Came here on Sunday at 10 am prepared for a really long wait, based on the reviews, but my table for 3 was ready was within 15 minutes. I think coming here by 10 or earlier is key, there was a huge wait by the time we left around 11 am. My friend and I ordered the coastal benedict (which comes with shrimp and crab) and the cannoli French toast roll-ups. I like that you can customize the sweet entrees by ordering just 1 or 2 pancakes, or for the French toast rolls-ups, 2 instead of 3. Perfect for sharing! I also ordered the pistachio latte, which was delicious. I'm usually a savory breakfast person but I think the cannoli French toast rolls were the best item here. They're filled with a cannoli cream, chocolate, and fresh fruit. It's a surprisingly light dish for something that sounds so decadent. I'd definitely order this item again. For two pieces, it was $9, so definitely a good deal. As for the crab eggs benedict, it was good, but not my favorite dish. At $26, the price is pretty steep, but it comes with a lot of fresh crab and shrimp. It's listed as "spicy" on the menu but it isn't at all, in my opinion. My main gripe with this dish is that it's served with sautéed spinach, which makes the bread underneath really soggy, which is one of my pet peeves with eggs Benedict in general. Hark! Upon this fair Valentine's morn, my beloved and I did elect to partake in a repast most divine from Plain Jane, delivered by the swift hands of DoorDash. Verily, we did indulge in the sumptuous Monte Cristo and the Seafood Eggs Benedict, dishes which did enchant our senses and stir our very souls. The Monte Cristo, with its exterior crisp as the autumnal leaves, bore a harmony of sweet and savory delights--a culinary sonnet that did serenade our palates. And lo, the Seafood Eggs Benedict, graced with a rich, golden hollandaise akin to the sun's own bounty, did crown our feast with a most noble splendor, each bite a verse of ambrosial poetry. Thus, in the spirit of love and merriment, our Valentine's date was transformed into a celebration of epicurean art. Plain Jane is a popular brunch spot that has a policy of not seating guests until everyone in their party has arrived. I had their Chipotle Honey Fried Chicken & Red Velvet Waffle, which was simply delicious. The Sausage & Shrimp Grits is also a good choice, offering a generous portion of shrimp and a sizable sausage for the price of $24. The interior of the restaurant lives up to its name, keeping things simple and straightforward. The service was good overall. However, during my visit, I observed something concerning. A waiter clearing a table poured half-drunk water from the cups back into the water canteen. It raised questions about the cleanliness of the canteen and whether it's properly sanitized after each use. Came here on a Sunday morning and the food was ready right on time - I got the oyster mushroom scramble and really liked the oyster mushrooms and how much they gave. The food was a little cold and the cheese was a little hard. I came here on a Thursday with my friend and the place was not that packed! Perfect, there were seats for us to relax and enjoy! We got a nice spread of items and it was so good! As a disclaimer, I am a huge fan of fried chicken, so my opinion might be biased based on that factor. I love that they have a digital menu and that you can easily pay for your meal on it. We ordered family style and shared several dishes, including French Toast, Chicken & Waffles, Nasi Goreng, and 3 extra pieces of fried chicken. For the daily caffeine, I opted for a Vietnamese coffee. The verdict? Love. Everything was delicious, and I especially liked their crispy fried chicken. We both loved that the batter wasn't too heavy on the salt, and that the meat was still juicy despite being fried to a satisfying crunch. The French toast and Waffles were also delicious and buttery. Nasi goreng, on the other hand, was a bit of a letdown. Maybe my expectation was too high, but the fried rice just didn't hit the spot. Their Vietnamese coffee was also pretty mid, since I've had it much better elsewhere. These slight misses won't stop me from picking them over Plow though. I love that they have more of the menu variety that resonates with my tastebuds, and I will definitely be returning there.
