I went in there to get a fill after I dropped off my oldest one to kindergarten. I had my 1-year old in a stroller playing with his iPad and wanted my black and white tips taken off and replaced with sparkly white tips. I also needed a fill. Mind you, I came in at 10:30 am so they weren't busy. I was concerned with how long it would take because I didn't know how long my toddler would sit in his stroller, and thankfully the staff had 2 people working on both hands at the same time. I was very happy that they got the idea and was appreciative. I was in and out of there QUICK, I think 30 minutes. Make sure to leave a bigger tip when they take the time to do something so considerate. =) read more

Luckily I made reservations (that morning) 'cuz they were packed when we arrived at 3pm. The ladies were really nice and did a good job. It was my husband's first nail visit so I appreciate the fact that they were super nice to him and explained how the pedicure chair worked and everything. Neither gal was very talkative but that was fine, I was there for my nails, not a therapy session. I was going back and forth between three or four stars for a few reasons. 1) The place was so busy that it was hard to walk through (good thing for them, challenging for me). 2) They only take cash or check. I saw that in advance so I was prepared but most times I only have cash for tip and I prefer to pay with my credit card. 3) My husband had an ingrown nail repaired a few years ago and the person doing his pedicure dug so deep in that area that it bothered his toe for two days. 4) I felt like it was a good price for what we got. WARNING: do not go to PK nails, I have been going to PK nails for about 5 years and I have never had a problem before because I always request Loui and he does a great job. I made an appointment for a Friday and requested Loui they said he wouldn't be available for the time slot I needed. When I arrived I was seated, I was weary because the lady that was about to do my nails did my friends nails a few months earlier and completely ruined my friends nails they were terrible and embarrassing which is sad because the next day was senior ball. So I sat down and even before I could pick my color she was doing things to my nails. So she started doing my nails and she could barely get the shape I wanted which was coffin. Everything seemed to be going okay until we got to the sanding part at the end she cut 4 of my fingers like they were bleeding a good amount where she should have at least told me to go wash my hands but instead she just wiped them off with a napkin. She finished the service and I left 2 days later my nails are lifting and when your nails lift and water is trapped between the nail and the acrylic fungus can grow. I went back today to get my money back because I paid for my nails to hold up for 2 weeks ( I understand things will get lifted towards the end of the 2weeks I'm okay with that) after 2 days my nails were lifted I didn't even get 1 full week. When I told her that she got mad and said she will take them off and I can go, I told her I wanted my money back she said you can only have half of your money back and she had to remove my nails I said no they were on for less than 4 days I want all of my money back she started screaming at me and said that I had to take my own nails off in front of her to get my money back then one of her coworkers must have told her she couldn't say that so then she said okay fine I'll do it she grabbed my hands cut only HALF my nails off so I'm left with nubs and said don't come back here ever again or I'm calling the police mind you she is still screaming at me in front of everyone and saying I'm trying to scam them out of money and that I will just come back and do it again (I was more than happy to have her take my nails off all the way if I got my money back) she started accusing me of partying and that's why my nails are messed up. This used to be my favorite nail salon but this lady is single handily bring down the salon. Short description of her to make sure to never get her she is probably 50 years old and she is chubby ( not the old lady she's nice and not the young girl) unfortunately they are too comfortable taking advantage of people. I'm a licensed cosmetologist and I see them doing unhealthy and illegal things in here if you want fungus this is the place to go! read more

Tried this place for the first time and do not plan on returning. They rushed through the entire manicure and the way they apply powder color is not consistent with the product recommendations. The end result is a very thick acrylic like nail. My friend got a polish change using the powder as well and at least 4 of her fingers were bleeding by the end because the technician hurried. I've been at this salon 5 times or so - it's pretty close to my home and you don't need an appointment to get the service. I've got shellac the first 2 times - each time my nails got damaged, I then asked not to file my nail before they apply the polish - it seemed to help. I got a regular mani-pedi done there a couple weeks ago and it was holding for almost 2 weeks - almost as long as shellac they did. They are not the best with nail designs - I asked to paint Christmas candy lines on 2 nails, and it took 4 times and 2 different people to do an OK job with this design, but I think they are pretty good with designs for acrylic nails. I have been coming to PK Nails for about 3 months now. Usually I get a pedicure and acrylic nails. I am always happy with the way my nails look. They always make time for me, even when I make my appointment the same day. My nails have gotten stronger since I've been coming here, because they soak off the acrylic nails (other places that I've been to file or pick them off, sometimes breaking my natural nail). In fact, my natural nails have been treated so well by PK Nails that I decided to get Shellac today instead of a new acrylic set, for the first time in 18 months! It was the three of us (good enough business) 3 gel manicures and one gel pedi. As soon as we walked in they were catering to white folks, which is great because initially we saw that as exceptional customer service which we were entitled to as well. But no, we were ordered around and yelled at infront of everyone to sit there and go there and slap our hands to move under the light and take out and when I asked Kay the owner to not slap my hand like I'm a dog she said "why"? With my sisters sitting right next to me we were dumbfounded I said "because it's not respectful" and that was pretty much our experience. For the first time in my life I've ever walked out of a nail salon without leaving a tip. Not even a dollar. I'm beyond words upset and mad we spend close to $200 there. I'd fallen off going to the salon after a few bad experiences with my trusted location in Walnut Creek so I wanted to find a new place that would live up to my expectations and I'm pretty sure I've finally found that place!!! While it's small, it's certainly clean and well managed. I had no issues when I arrived for my appointment and they did a great job on a full set of pink and white acrylics. I've never seen so many colored acrylic powders...I'm pretty sure I'll have to get a colorful tip next time I'm in for a fill. They are great and always make time for customers even if you show up with out an appointment, but if you can you should make an appointment. I got seated at 4:30 (my friend was seated by a guy and was rudely kicked out of her chair by another worker... what?). They didn't do my cuticles. Clean under my nail, or anything. I asked for normal french tip acrylics. Which are $35 if you're wondering. My nails turned out an UGLY pink and it is NOT what I asked for. They made my fingers bleed and didn't put any stopper on it. THE LAST STRAW that I could take is that I could see my real nail... UNDERNEATH the acrylics... And they blamed ME for my nails being too short? No it's just their shitty equipment... Sorry but it's true. At least they discounted them for looking like crap. I am giving this review due to constant cutting and slicing the sides of my skin by nails by Kay who is the owner. She is so busy watching everyone elses station that she will have the electric sander on your nail and totally not looking at it. I should have left several months ago. I promised myself that if I came out of there bleeding again last week that I would never go back. She sliced my finger again and never apologies !!!! I used to love this place, great pricing and good results. Until I woke up this morning with a nail infection. Never have I seen an employee sterilize their equipment and their cheap prices blinded me from seeing how incredibly disgusting and unhealthy this salon is. Out of the four times I've been here, Louie has done my nails twice. The first time I was very impressed and happy with my nails. Mostly guys do the nails, but one lady did mine, and she nicked me with the rotary instrument! My nails looked fine when I left, but apparently, she didn't do something right, because three of nails started "lifting" after two weeks. Usually, I don't have to get a fill until three...the other guy did my nails slightly thicker. Looked ok but not my preference. He is good at applying nail ornaments though. (don't know his name) Louie did my nails this last time and he fixed my lifted and broken nail, flawless, quickly, and beautifully. No chit chat, except "nice color" I think they say that to all the ladies. (even if you pick a shitty color) because I'm told that every time I go in, and I've seen them compliment other women's gawdy fluorescent shades. I told him he was the best but he had a stoic expression and didn't know how to respond. At the end if my appointment he had a lady tell me to schedule appointments and request him. I think he couldn't articulate this to me himself. That's okay, at least I know he understood that I was happy with his skill. read more

PK Nails saved the day! Went in to get a soak off from a bad experience in the morning at another salon and to get a full set.. I had multiple people work on my nails, which I dislike. But the shape of them are nice!. Just wish the guy who shaped them listened to me when I asked him not to layer on the acrylic so thick.. I actually wanted to get up and leave but didn't want to cause a scene. When I got home I put neosporin on the area that was hurt, since everything was so filthy I didn't want to get an infection. I like that they have a lot of colors and options but there customer service makes me not want to return. Also they only accept cash or check .
