Calvin and Jelly are the heartbeat of this salon. Their entire staff are attentive and friendly. I have been to MANY salons. I've even stayed because the technicians were friendly. And the struggle to find a good nail salon continues... CK Nails... you aight! Yeah, that's right. I said it... just "aight". I was in dyer need of getting my gremlins done, (they were looking a HOT ace mess) and the place that I had been going to at the time was closed. I looked on Yelp and saw that this place stayed opened pretty late. Despite the negative reviews, I took a chance because of my desperation. I called first to see if it was even worth driving over, and they said that they would take me. This shop is located in the cuts of Concord, right between Digger's Diner and Bambino's off of Farm bureau rd. When I walked in, there was no immediate greeting... no smiles. Mmkay... welp, I just needed to get them gremlins done, so I wasn't really trippin' at the time. Finally a guy asked me if I had an appointment and I told him that I called. He pointed to a chair and I sat down. They gave me a ring of their gel colors and at first glance it looked like they had a large selection of colors. Um, wrong... The first 3 colors that I chose weren't even available. It actually turned out that half of the colors on the ring were even there. Wth? If you don't have them then why are they still on display? I finally settled on a baby blue with glittered accent nails. One lady started on my pedicure while the other lady began on my gel fill. Prices for gel fills have really gone up on price over the years, but I thought that $35 for this basic job was just too much. The colors were beautiful, but the baby blue started to peel off after only a week and a half and two of my nails broke off right at the 2 week mark. I can usually stretch out my nails for a month if they do a good job, but not here. The pedicure was just okay... nothing special. The foot massage was more of a foot rub then a massage and they focused heavily on the legs which was a bummer. It took them a little over 2 hours to complete a basic gel fill and mani. Just way too long, especially if you're doing both at the same time. The staff was generally friendly, but nothing super memorable. I mean, if I was on gremlin status again and in dyer need of a mani pedi, I MIGHT consider them again. Otherwise, I'd try other nail shops before stopping in here again. read more

A guy reviewing a nail salon? Nope, not the nails but the haircut side of the business! I took my son there and they do an OK job with haircuts. Nothing special. Atmosphere smells like nail polish (expected but still super potent) and there's only 5-6 chairs for waiting and they're almost always full. Its cramped and they're not super social. Prices seem to have just gone from $12 to $14 for a trim so they're losing their pricing advantage as well. We'll only go back because the Mrs likes the place and I cant seem to get my son to try other places :( read more

I used to live down the street and I would stop by just about every 2 to 3 weeks for a hair cut. Calvin does an incredible job. Very friendly. Never once did he jack up my #3 fade. He even special ordered hair product to stock his store with when I asked about it once. And if you're a penny pincher.... Walked in and asked if they had any time for a woman's hair cut, which they replied yes. There were only two employees at the time, a lady doing nails and a man cutting hair. Two customers were sitting soaking there feet for pedicures and they sat unattended for over an hour. They got upset and ended up leaving. The man cutting hair had lots of appointments and obviously had no time for walk ins. I wasted my time sitting there for over an hour. I've been going here for a couple of years. While I'm never over zealous of the job they do I'm through the roof on the price. On Saturday I got a fill, a pedicure and my husband got a shampoo and a cut all for a total of 50.00 - seriously. I guess I could do better at Wal Mart but given the fact that I don't want to end up in a clearance row brawl I'll stick to CK Nails. It's husband/wife owned (Calving and Kelly) and they do a real good job. I've seen lots of folks come through and have waxing or hair done but so far I'm sticking to the nail side of it and I'm quite happy. They are a full service salon and while, yes, I've had my hair cut and highlighted here (nice job) I prefer the new spot I go to in Antioch even more. The color seems to last longer. My brows looked like Wilford Brimley's mustache so I was in dire and urgent need. This place is within a mile from my house so I thought I'd include some exercise with my errand. I was taken within minutes and there was a nice variety of magazines. The room was bare bones but clean. She started ripping and stripping and was done in five minutes.No chatting at all. She showed up at the time she scheduled . They were extremely busy and under staffed. They told her to wait in line .. she said she had an appt. They told her she had to wait because it's first come, first served even with an appt. This is rude , unacceptable behavior and no way to run a business. Appts are usually in place for a reason. If you're not going to honor an appt, then don't make them..This put a damper on her birthday because it was a gift to her on her special day. I would never recommend this place to anyone. The girl doing my full set completely rushed through the process because they were getting a lot of walk- ins and not enough staff to serve everyone at once. Save your $$ and run to some other place. This place is simply horrible. Decided to get my shellac manicure and French pedicure done on 07/31st. Got the Pedi chair right away and two guys started working on me. I don't have any issues with Pedi but Mani.... I can probably go on on. Right from the get go, I had bubbles in my Manicure. Upon asking (the Manicurist didn't see it), I was told that it can be fixed. The guys filed and fixed the bubble issues in 5 nails. Came home and still noticed Bubbles. Day 3 the French part on my Index finger and the bottom on both thumbs started Peeling. Day 6 today and it is ready to be changed, can't stand it anymore .
