I'm sorry but this would be my first one start of the year 2024. So hello peeps today I decided to do a self care day for me and do my nails. I decided to come to California nails to get my full set of nails done. To be honest I could not be more more unhappy and dissatisfied with my nails. So I was asked what kind of nail I would be getting I said short black tip nails she said okay sit. I sat in the first table available she started doing my nails first red flag was the fact that she did not clean my nails. By this I mean no cuticle clean no left over skin cut nothing just buffed my nail and started putting nails on. Did not asked if I wanted clear nails or the regular nails. Second red flag as she started putting the pink powder she did not have a good flow on the way the powder was going on my nail leaving peeks of acrylic on top of the nail or very thin layer on the tip. Third red flag was when I told her the mistakes she was making she got mad and put more powder on my nail which turned into a ball and now my nail looks more horrible than before. I asked if there was someone else that could do my nails she spoked in another language to her coworker and just told me wait for her 20 min. I said okay she then just rolled her eyes at me and was very rude. To be honest I just wanted to leave and say screw this but I am not going to be rude and step walk away plus they had just started my nails and I needed them finished. Definitely not coming back after this horrible experience. I usually go to this place cause its so close to where i live. They did a decent job before but last weekend, i went to get my nails done after not getting them done for a REALLLLLY LONG TIMEEE. I got someone new. She was nice but WOW! She did such a bad job. I wanted to feel pretty so i decided to treat myself for an acrylic set and this was what i got. I am not the type to complain but she was going to charge me $55 for this. My 11 year old niece can do a better job. Whats worse was when i was going to look at them, she would put my hand back in the lamp and tell me to keep it in there for longer for the hopes that i wouldn't notice the bad job she did. DISAPPOINTED. My mother and I have been coming here for years and I'll have to say it will be our last visit. My mom came in for a pedicure and it was a pedicure from hell. She was given service by a woman we had never seen before so I'd have to say she was new or something but honestly NONE of the original people who we've known for years were there and it honestly just felt very different. This led me to believe that they met be under new management or ownership or something. LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT THIS PEDICURE. My mother requested she do the basic package, which INCLUDES a foot massage with warm wax, no massage was given. My mother told the woman who did her pedicure that she had some ingrown toenails and she needed her to take of them. So she did but my mother said it was the most painful experience she'd ever had. My mother spoke up and told her it was super painful and the woman continued to rip her toenails out without a care in the world leaving my mother with bloody throbbing toenails. My mother requested a French pedicure. As soon as she finished and she began to trim her nails, she cut them WAY too short and then claimed my mother had nails too short for a French look and completely disregarded my mothers request then proceeded to paint her nails with a color that my mother didn't even ask her for. We're honestly just hoping this doesn't lead to an infection due to the fact that even their tools didn't seem sanitary. The NEW people at this facility are very rude and clearly don't care for the quality of service. JUST A BONUS!! THEY "JOKINGLY" DAMANDED A TIP... YEA RIGHT. Never again. The guy doing my pedicure was interested in everything other than completing my actual service. Plus he was rough throughout. See pictures of the multiple times he completed stopped what he was doing to chat. Sometimes I give a star for a great massage but that was even lacking. The woman who waxed my brows had breath that didn't smell good yet she kept breathing into my face while she waxed. She asked me if I wanted my lip waxed MULTIPLE times after I told her clearly NO! That is so offensive. And she has this fan blowing right in my face. The wax strips she used were taken off so slowly that I was surprised she took off any hair. To top all of this off: My eyebrows came out uneven. I wanted to cry. After complaining I realized the woman who did them knew zero English and I had to explain myself to someone else who seemed to care less that I was unhappy. I work in Napa and live in Concord and wanted to find a place that was near my house to get my nails and feet done. I looked this place up on Yelp and saw that it was close by and had mainly good reviews. Since I work in Napa, I called ahead of time to make an appointment at 6:00pm for a mani/pedi. I got there at about 5:50 and when I came in a lady was on the phone waving me in. I felt that it was kind of rude, but I asked her where her restroom was and went to use the bathroom first. The restroom was clean and sanitary. The inside of the salon is super small and there was nobody else there so I felt a little hesisant but Leyli asked me if I had called about the 6 pm appointment. I told her that I also wanted a pedicure as well and she said that she understood and began on my nails. Usually when I get both a mani/pedi, they start with the pedi first. Leyli asked me what gel color that I wanted and she proceeded to do my nails. She didn't really talk much and would glance up at me every once in a while. I was fine with that, but this other guy that I think worked there kept hovering over me and looking which is very uncomfortable. Initially they had a foreign channel on and then changed it to the channel 7 news when I sat down. Tina offered me a bottle of water while I was getting my gel manicure. After Leyli shaped my nails, she sent me to Tina to get my pedicure done and OMG let me just say that the pedicure was the bomb.com! Tina was absolutely AMAZING! She didn't speak very much english, but she definitely knew what she was doing! She really scrubbed my feet and took her time with me. I wear heels at work all day and my feet can be pretty rough. She rubbed my legs with a salt scrub and an orange and patted them down with a nice hot rag afterwards. I was in the massage chair falling asleep because it felt so good! Lol. She took about and hour and then I got back into the chair at the manicure station. While I was getting my nails painted, Tina gave me a neck/arm/back massage which felt so good. I thought it was kind of weird that they didn't let me use the gel polish on my toes also, but I used a very close shade of red which was similar and you can barely tell the difference. I didn't end up getting out of there until around almost 8 but I really appreciated that they took their time because my manicure and pedicure came out really good! The gel manicure was $30 and the pedicure was $25 which was a decent price for what I got. I tipped Tina really well because she did an amazing job! She gave me a hug afterward and it was so cute! They gave me an appointment card with their names on them and told me to come back again soon. I know I will for sure come back again to get another pedicure! I'm always kinda nervous about trying out a new salon. But I stopped here after seeing the pictures and saw Kelly. I called ahead and they were still super busy when I got there, but I didn't have to wait long. I saw Kelly for an acrylic refill, Polish, and simple design for $22. The dremeling was a little rough for me, but no bleeding or pain after. She did a nice job. The polish is a little uneven and there are some bubbles, but I think white polish is more difficult anyways. All in all she did a good job for the price and I'm happy with how it looks. Since my last review, I've actually decided to give them another try. I went in to get a shellac manicure and Sunny was my manicurist. And wow! I'm glad I gave them a 2nd chance. Sunny is very good at what he does. He makes sure he cuts my cuticles and shapes my nails. The nail polish application is also very nicely done. In fact, ever since I returned this past summer, I've been going back each month after that to get my shellac manicures! For shellac mani, it is $22 and it's one of the best in town. I still haven't tried getting a pedi yet here because my last experience wasn't so great but maybe I'll give them another chance in the summer time. Overall, the people here are friendly and they make you feel comfortable. They even give you a small water bottle for while you're getting your nails done. She wasn't afraid to be rough with my legs and feet, and I need that. She didn't hold back, she was rough, but she also made sure it was all ok in the process. Three people walked in after we did and they sat all three of them before they sat me. The main guy that seemed to be in charge seemed to be rushing everyone even tho it wasn't super busy. I have been coming beee off and on for about 8 yrs, I always see Tina. No one can do a pedicure like Tina. I'm not sure what's going on with this place but she was falling asleep while doing my toes today. She seems really over-worked and exhausted. I hope that she can take a vacation and get some time off. It hurt my soul to see her so run ragged, multiple customers bothering her to take them while I was getting my pedicure., even though she was with a client who had an appointment (I don't do walk ins if I can help it because they are busy). A young male did my nails and was pretty good. He checked in regularly to make sure he was doing them how I liked them and cracked a few jokes. Tim and Tina are amazing! It's so interesting to see the mixed reviews because my experience there was nothing but positive. My friend and I made an appointment for 6:45 and they were willing to take us in. Never once did we feel rushed. They gave us a complimentary water bottle and massage. Been trying to find a Nail Salon with experienced techs for sometime and noticed a ladies nails who referred me to Tim and Leon at California Nails. I usually get gel French done/filled but ventured out since going here and seeing the work they do. Place isn't the fanciest inside but they have done much better work than places that were almost charging me double in price. Tim & Leon are the best...they take time to do really great work and are very accommodating. Pedicures have also been great with any of the staff there. If you want a great job on your feet and marvelous, not ticklish leg massage that will send you to the moon, try to get the guy who looks like "dad". I had mine done yesterday by one of the male kids. He phoned it in. It was still cheap and certainly ok, but it wasn't sublime like pops does it. "Dad" gets 5 stars. OK, just went back and got a pedicure from Tina. Not sure if she is "mom", but I need to warn you, that "mom" has the hands of a blacksmith. My cuticles still hurt from the cutting and tearing. Both times I have come here I have left and within 24 hrs got an infection in my finger or toe. This place is convenient to my house but I will not be back. They are not very nice either. The first time I went to get mail nails done here, not only did I get an infection in my toe but I had to return to have my fingers repainted. The gel nail didn't cure enough and the polish bubbles and peeled off. Second time I visited, I only got my bails done and the guy was aggressive and hurt me twice and I ended up with an infection. Ok, no. Searching for a new nail place in my new 'hood, Yelp led me to California Nails. Let me list the many infractions that make this place a "Don't Go"! 1) The place is filthy, I mean crusties everywhere, dirty. 2) Flat personalities of the workers here was really off-putting. It was obvious that the two men who were working on my fingers and toes did not want to be there. I can understand having a bad day from time to time but when you are in a service industry you better fake it. 3) I didn't have hangnails before the manicurist started, but I did when he was finished. 4) They put my flip flops back on my feet immediately after finishing my toes and asked me to move to the drying table, which made my polish smear (they had put nothing between my toes to separate them). 5) The salt scrub they use and the force they used to apply it caused my legs to scab in two places. 6) The polish looked like it had been thinned with acetone. Once it dried it looked thin and lacked shine. I immediately wanted to go get them redone somewhere else. There's a lot of competition out there. For $30. I don't expect a lot - at a minimum, flawless fingers and toes, a clean working area, and friendly/competent staff. Next... read more

I have been a customer here for 2 years and I've decided to stop going. I would give only 1 star, except that I like half the crew there. Reasons below: - SLOW: It takes 2+ hours for a gel mani and regular pedi - no matter if they are busy or empty. - LAZY LADY: Most everyone there does a good job, but there is one lady who is SO BAD. She has done every possible mess up to my nails over my visits: lumpy gel, missed paint on side of nail, dries my nails to skin (every time), uneven filing, not removing old polish enough so it shows thru under new polish, leaves nail tips jagged with dried polish, leaves polish dried to my skin (every time). - RUDE: One time Lazy Lady did my nails so badly that I actually called back for an appt to fix them - and she was SUPER rude to me! She scolded me for being late to the appointment then spent the entire time chastising me about how I probably just wanted to change the color of the polish (I actually asked for the SAME color to be re-applied). I've continued to go here for 6 more months following this episode in February (and have received poorer treatment from other employees bc she talks bad about me every time - and glares at me, too). Except today I felt validated: While I was sitting there (for 2 hours) one customer left when Lazy Lady finished her nails and then came back in 5 minutes later, went up to the manager and pointed out two nails that needed to be redone and set a new appointment to come back in on Monday. Then (I can't even make this up) another girl came in and had an appointment for Lazy Lady to fix several of her nails from the manicure Lazy Lady gave her on Monday. Then to top it off today Lazy Lady said to me "Oh, make sure about your nail polish color because I remember you." read more

I went in to get a pedicure and the man running the place was so rude I almost left right then but I needed my feet done. I noticed the woman didn't really clean out the tub on my chair so I didn't want to put my feet in to soak. I felt the water and it was COLD. She had a set of equipment with OTHER PEOPLES DEAD SKIN ON IT on her station and a jar of salt scrub and a bucket of lemons she wanted to "exfoliate" me with. I said no.
