The first time, I specifically asked if I could take one of two open seats at the bar and was told I still needed to join the waitlist. I did, but guests who arrived after me were eventually seated at the bar ahead of me. The second weekend, essentially the same thing happened again. There also doesn't seem to be a clear way to tell who is actually waiting versus who has just arrived. Meanwhile, I watched larger tables that had been pushed together for bigger parties remain together after those parties left, then get reset and used for smaller groups rather than being separated again. That's a lot of usable seating sitting unnecessarily occupied when you have a lobby full of people waiting. When I asked the host during my first visit why someone behind me on the waitlist had been given the bar seat I'd originally asked about, I received an apology but no real explanation or resolution. On the positive side, after spending plenty of time waiting on both visits, I can certainly confirm what others have said about the restaurant being clean and the portions looking generous coming out of the kitchen looke I genuinely wanted to try Heidi's, and I still think it may be worth visiting during slower hours. But after two consecutive weekend experiences with the same seating issues, the problem feels less like "they were busy today" and more like a process that needs some attention.
