I've been coming here periodically for almost twenty years. The quality and service has steadily declined. The last time I went in a few weeks ago my nails were completely normal. Now I have toenail fungus. When I was there the last time I was chemical burned with a lotion they used to massage me. The second it went on it started tingling and increased to a bad stinging sensation. Felt like a jellyfish sting all over my legs. I begged for them to get it off. Loyal customer during our 27 years in Franklin Farm. Prior to moving out of the area, I stopped by and spoke to the technician in charge. We were having to move rather quickly and my certificates accidentally got packed. I couldn't put my hands on them. I was inquiring about a replacement. I was told I have to speak to the owner's wife, who has no set schedule. Never caught her there prior to our move 60 miles away. Fast forward a few months and I have the certificates in hand next time I travel back to the area. I inquire about services for myself and about using the certificates. After a bit of a wait, the technician in charge called the owner - even put me on the phone with her. I identified myself to her. She's known me for a very long time. I had $182 total in 2 certificates that had expired 29 days earlier and she said they could honor half. I frequented this business for many years. My loyalty to them was matched with their greed. Technicians are fantastic. Very clean, professional establishment. Top notch services. Owner is all about the money and his wife is rarely present. read more

Poor customer service, very unprofessional, and racially profiled: I went on a Saturday after running some errands just to get a pedicure. I walked in and was the only minority in the salon. They had me wait 20 minutes before even acknowledging my presence. After having a discussion in their native language, I was told to come back 2 hours later while the customers looked at me laughing. I guess they don't want or need minority business. I doubt they tell their Caucasian paying customers to come back two hours later. My daughter also went to this salon to get her nails done for prom it was horribly done. She had to go to another salon to get it fixed. Had an appointment and decided to get here early to get a pedicure done during lunch. I had visited this place many years ago and am sure changed ownership. Getting ready to travel so wanted my feet cleaned. Had no wait and they started right away taking time to really clean my nails and make them look pretty ok. Rate was great at 30 and so will tip when it's all over. Like the way they waited until I was comfortable with the water temperature . The polish nail selection was bad,a lot of the products were half empty and really crusty. They definitely need some new polishes because it was very thin and clumpy. Not polish good application. Having just moved to the area a couple of months ago, I wanted to love this place because of its convenience. I am basing this review on two pedicure services. Pros: -reasonably priced -easy to get in with no appointment Cons: -lack of pedicure options (no deluxe, spa, etc) -pedicure is not good, very little massage, no hot towels, no removal of dry skin on feet, etc. -very short (like 20 minutes start to finish) -both times, two separate women took phone calls during my pedicures -saw online they have a loyalty program, but even when I asked the first time, I was not entered into the system. I just wish their customer service and options were better. I would happily pay more for a better pedicure, but I wasn't even given the option. read more

I've been here twice and both times I've gone were awful. The nail techs are rude and I was completely disrespected both times. I went in the first time and was told to wait 30 minutes when there was only one person getting their nails done. The second time my friend came to get her nails done and I asked to sit near her. Yesterday I received the most painful manicure of my life. I stopped in because Pinkys was on my way to an event. Mistake. 1. The staff behaves irritated and put out when you come in (to an empty salon) and ask for a shellac manicure at 4pm on a Tuesday. They ask "do you have shellac on now?" and I reply "yes" and it was like the manicurist was pissed. 2. My cuticles are in great shape, I get my nails done every 10 days so why wouldn't they be...so she begins trimming my cuticles, which is OK with me. But then she cuts my ring finger and fumbled for that mysterious blue fluid that stope the bleeding. Yuck. And ouch. 3. Then she cuts another finger. And another. The cuticle clipper was so extremely dull that she was almost pulling my cuticles with a tweezer. Excrutiating pain. Unfortunately, I picked a really pale color..and today, the day after the manicure my cuticles are all bright red and a few are scabbed over! I look WAY worse than I did when I arrived. One might question my IQ for staying and seeing this through. I always have a hard time correcting service people mid-procedure. I awkwardly think they will be worse if I mention anything. So instead I winced and breathed heavy until she was done. On second thought, I am an idiot. Will never return. Beware!!! read more

I've been a customer at this location for about 14 years! Yikes! I always make an appointment so that I can get the same person. She does a great job. Since I've gone there for so long, everyone knows my name and they are very friendly. If I have to bring the kids, the offer them mints, cookies, chocolate...whatever they have on hand. It's not cheap, but I've been other places (with Groupons) and have never returned to those one-offs because Pinky Nails is the best. I did a pedicure and manicure at Pinky in a Friday afternoon. I had planned to go to my normal nail place but then just turned to try this place, since it was closer to home. I had to wait 15minutes but they took me promptly. I had cut my toe nails before so they were short, the nail lady tried to cut more...and even as she did the pedicure, it hurt since my nails were short. She didn't do extra taking extra skin off my heel, and it was just a mediocre pedicure. Massage was eh. Manicure was ok, again, nothing great. If your in a hurry this place is ok, but better to go to Fancy Nails and Spa or Westowne Nails and Spa where at least the nails and service is much better. read more

On top of the poor service, the job they do is not so great. My nails were chipping way too soon to have a manicure be worth it. The last time we went, they told us they would be with us in ten minutes. An hour later I was still waiting. After about 30 minutes they had my feet soaking, and left my feet soaking for half an hour. I didn't have time for it so i said i wanted to leave. They knew it was a big day, and yet they still just left me sitting. This wasn't even the first time they took other customers ahead of me. They take people out of order all the time. I am not so sure how clean they keep everything. I did not see them cleaning the tools they use before or after they used the pedicure tools in their little carts. Kind of gross to think about. Very nice place, great service and excellent quality work! I stopped in here for a mani-pedi on the recommendation of a friend and was very glad that I did! I usually go to the one in Fox Mill but this place looks better inside and the ladies were very nice - offered me a diet coke (free!) while I had my pedi done and took all the gel polish colors outside for me so I could look at them in the sunlight. I came in here as a walkin for eyebrow waxing. it was $10, where most other nail salons in NOVA are about $8. I was in a hurry and this was close by so I went in anyway. The waxing stations looked very unhygenic, and it looked as though they reused waxing sticks on multiple clients. Not only was the lady rushing, but the wax wasn't even hot enough and left plenty of hairs behind. read more

Made an appointment to get a pedicure at 5, didn't get seated until 5:30. What's the point of making an appointment if you have to wait once you arrive? And once I was seated someone's shoes were in my spot and the massage chair was left on. Also the water was cool, not warm. AND once I was seated I sat there for about 10 minutes. I ended up walking out before someone came to me. The prices are a little bit more expensive than some other (nicer) places. $28 for a pedicure not including tip, nothing special about it either. I just chose to go here because it's in my neighborhood. I would recommend going somewhere else like LA Nails in Herndon. It's cheaper and nicer than Pinky Nails. Save your money, drive a little bit further. read more

I've never had my nails done here, but I'd avoid for waxing. I went for a brow / lip wax ($18 total). It was very thorough- to a fault. The skin that was waxed was ripped off right along w/ the hair. The redness that occurs with waxing? That has now lasted 5 days, along with peeling. Also- the shape of my brows is now uneven. It may seem like a bargain, but it's not considering the damage. I'm just hoping this didn't cause permanent scaring- it was bad. read more

I've been to places that it has been over $20 for a facial waxing. I have been going to Pinky Nail for quite a few years now. It has never been spectacular, but I like the ladies there and my nails look great when I leave. My review is because of the waxing I received last night. I always have the same girl do it, but last night was awful. The waxing room was filthy and there were even cobwebs on the ceiling. Then she pulled a layer of skin off of my upper lip and on my chin. I am a licensed Esthetician and realized immediately what had occurred. I knew it must be bad because she seemed to panic and put an antiseptic on my just waxed lip. It burned so badly that it brought tears to my eyes. As I was leaving she informed me that my lip looked shiny because she put Neosporin on it! I didn't see the true damage until I got home. Several chunks of skin were missing from my upper lip and on one spot of my chin. I have been applying A&D ointment to try and avoid any scabbing. Needless to say, I will now just do my own waxing at home. read more

My experience with having nails done at Pinky's Nails Franklin Farm goes back more than ten years. For most of those years I have requested Susan to do my challenging toenails. She has continued to impress me as she creates Cinderella feet from the care and skill she puts into her work. She always has a friendly yet soft-spoken demeanor and quietly takes the time needed to correct and sometimes treat my aging nails. What impresses me, also, is the character, integrity, and courtesy she displays in conversation regarding money, scheduling, color selection ( I tend to be undecided) and procedures. The shop almost always seems pleasant, and the work I've seen, skilled. But Susan is exceptional. read more

If you haven't been to this shop in a while, check it out. They recently overhauled the shop and it's quite lovely - new paint and more importantly, new manicure and pedicure stations. This is mostly a neighborhood place, really popular with folks who live in and around Franklin Farm. I had stopped going for a couple years because I didn't think it was anything special, and during that time my company was offering the service on site. However, one time I needed to get my nails done in a hurry and that started me on the road back. The first thing I realized is that I could call ahead and book a time with the person of my choice - on the same day. I have been going to the same person ever since and when I bring friends to her they are impressed. (You'll have to figure out who you like best - I want to be fair.) I'm not sure of the cost of other places but I get a really nice mani and pedi for about $41. They do gels and other things there - nice choice of products. Not a fancy spa-type shop though - just a decent mani-pedi place. Traffic is steady on Saturdays and Sundays, the only days I go, and yet if you call ahead they do a great job of fitting you in. Tips are cash-only, or you can write a check to cover the service and tip. read more
