I just visited this location yesterday and was really impressed with their COVID compliance standards and their commitment to keep everyone safe! MJ technicians greeted me at the door outside, checked my temperature and made me put on hand sanitizer. They require masks while inside. There is plexi glass up in every two pedi seats and every manicure station. There is also plexiglass separating the hand washing station. The nail technician that worked on my nails in the photo attached, wore a mask and a full face cover. There were only 2 other people there with me who were properly spaced out. Listen, this is my favorite nail salon hands down. Warning, it's by appointment only and I love that! No waiting. It's very clean and I love that too! You know how you go into many nail salons and it just looks so unorganized with all the products stacked up all over the place and random plastic containers? Not here. As soon as you come in the decor, the ambiance and the feeling exudes class and relaxation. They are constantly cleaning the surfaces of everything and they still wear their masks. Clients are not required to wear masks. They don't do all of that unnecessary talking. Instead, they just focus on your nails and allow you to relax. I love that! And my nails? Omg the nicest bunch of ladies and so clean! Been holding out in getting a pedicure for a while to "save money" or rather buy Chick-fil-A when I decided to finally leave work early on a Friday and go to MJ Nail & Spa just down the street from the Dulles Center. Praise it was empty at 3pm as a walk-in and I was promptly greeted by everyone there. Cindy is so cute she is Mongolian and the others are Korean and Vietnamese. They welcome you and quickly get you situated. It seems like most people make appointments though. Anyway they asked if I would like and tea or water and got me quickly into a pedicure chair. Cindy did a great job though was a bit rough with the nail clippers and cut my nails way too short to the point it was a little painful and was bleeding some. She apologized and it's fine but maybe ask how much to cut before just cutting?? Overall nails look great and the polish has lasted for 3+ weeks now. Decided to check this place out since Yelpers have been scoring them the perfect 5. Attentive service as soon as you walk into the space. Relaxing atmosphere,drinks and snacks are available. I picked the pedi spa and the attendant showed me a card where I can pick from the different scents of soak and lotion to be used. The price was $55. This would be high compared to the going rate. This is now my favorite nail salon. Best customer care ever; this is the first time I have been given hand sanitizer upon entering and the nail technician actual made sure my nails on both hand were cut the same length. Love that it's by appointment only and that there is no wait or over crowding. The salon is very clean all seats are wipe down and plastic is replaced on head rest after each customer. I had a good experience here. Parking looks limited but I did not have any issues finding a space right in front of the shop. I called ahead but did not have a pre-scheduled appointment. They told me I could come in twenty minutes. I got there and was greeted with warm and friendly service and had my services verified with me. That means they remembered that I called and listened to what I said over the phone. In the front area they had tea, coffee, and a few treats.  I was escorted back to the pedicure section and handed the gel color swatches. This was great because I've been to places where "pick a color" was being yelled at me by a nonchalant technician that's fully engaged in a nail service.   I came in on a Saturday mid-afternoon so I was expecting a delay. I was able to begin my services as soon as I got there which I truly appreciate. That tells me the timing of 20 minutes that they provided over the phone was accurate. Refreshing! I was offered a beverage and I chose tea. The place was very clean and neat.  There was no yelling or kids running around. They used an insert sleeve for the pedicure bowl which I think is great to ensure cleanliness.   On to the services, I had to explain what I wanted a couple times, even changed the color I wanted for a pedicure, and had issues with the gel curing process on my toes. Through all of that she remained friendly, patient, and understanding. This I am truly grateful for because amazing customer service is what maintains a large customer base.  My only complaints are that (1) matte polish still comes out shiny (see pic) and (2) the curing gel lamp used for pedicures is too big and heavy for pedicures. It is uncomfortable since its pressed up against your skin while you wait, also I had to lift/hold my leg up and my toes flat which made it challenging for me to relax during the process. At first, I thought it was because they didn't have the smaller gelish curing lamp (the one with no bottom), but then she used that for my nails?? So my recommendation is that the smaller lamp also be used for gel pedicures. I didn't get a chance to check out the facilities more or get a full set so I cannot report on that. I would return to try other services. read more

This place is the Gold Standard of nail salons!!! I called to make appointment for myself and a friend. I wanted a classic pedicure and my friend wanted a gel manicure. We arrived for our appointment on a Saturday at 5pm. The salon is beautiful and clean with a sleek modern interior. Their color wall is elegant and they had plenty of summer neon colors to choose from! Since I got a pedicure, I loved that this place has the bowl liners. Healthy and clean! And they have the BEST massage chairs!!! My back felt amazing during my pedicure! The girls who work there are Sweet and LOVELY and engage in conversation with you. I didn't once hear them talking to one another in a different language which I VERY much appreciate!!! I have absolutely nothing against someone speaking in their language to communicate for a quick minute, but most salons just drone on with endless chatter that is rude and annoying to customers- but NOT this nail spa!!! I've been to a few different nail salons since moving to the area and this one by far has been the best! I did a Gel Manicure and the MJ Gel Pedicure My technician did an incredible job ensuring that every single nail was done perfectly. I always tend to get colors that take three coats and have to make sure to ask because many places try not to do more than two. She did three coats without me even having to ask and checked everything 2-3 times to make sure all of my nails were perfect! I also did a gel pedicure and that was incredible! The salon also has incredible practices in place for COVID. Appointments are required and they check your temp before going in. Initially came for a walk-in gel manicure, but was advised to do classic manicure due to my damaged and brittle nails. I really appreciated how Amy was honest about the condition of my nails. My hands and nails are terribly dry and my cuticles are always messy, but Amy cleaned them up so well! She also painted on a coat of treatment. I thought I would give them one more chance almost a year later. The staff is so very kind but I have never had my nails painted so poorly before. It has not even been 5 days so it hasn't grown out but the sides of my nail were completely missed. It's not just on one nail it's on several. The tips of the nail were also not painted as well... Five stars, for sure. I went there as a walk because another nail salon had an hour wait. Reviews say it's pricey and it's true BUT the money is worth it. Manicure is 15$ regular. Pedicure is 30$. I got the gel nails which added another 25$ to my total but again, WORTH IT. Cindy is a wonderfully patient manicurist. She never complained about how short or fine my nails were and did a wonderful job with them. Cleanliness was amazing, they had covers for the pedicure tubs and even their tools were in separate sterilized bags, opened with each new customer. I even accidentally hit my thumb and another employee came to help Cindy so she could finish my nails in a timely fashion. All the employees were friendly and provided refreshingly sweet smiles! She's been doing my nails since my first visit, roughly about 8 months ago. My first time going to MJ Nails, I walked in with fake nails because my real nails were too short and damaged, courtesy of a previous nail salon who did an awful job. Almost a year later, I now go in for gel manicures because I no longer need fake nails. I strongly feel that Ellen at MJ Nails is the reason why my natural nails are now long and healthy. I think I have finally found my pedicure spot. Although I have a goto salon for manicures, they don't do the best job at pedicures so I'm glad my friend referred me here. Today my technician was Christy (or Christine) and she was very nice. She suggested a darker red color for the fall weather and I'm glad she did. I worked service industry for over 10years, and never had like that attitude. I got gel nail on October 18th first time at this place, and then I tried to make reservation for removing my gel after 3 weeks. The cashier made appointment to remove nail and just remove cuticle. and then she called back to me to give information that they will charge removing gel fee. I didn't understand why they'll charge fee about removing gel part even I got nail from there. So I complained about that, the cashier said every store charge removing part. THEY ARE NOT CHARGE IT WHEN I GET GEL NAIL SERVICE AGAIN. THIS POINT DOESNT MAKE SENCE. WHEN THE CUSTOMER REDO THE SAME SERVICE , NOTHING PAY FOR REMOVING THING? I told her not every store, I haven't paid removing fee after redoing any service at the same store. She kept saying she was right and I was wrong. So I told her I got nail from there on October 18th , that's the Monday 5:30pm! And then yes if I got nail from the other store , I understood to pay extra. It make sense, but if I got nail from your store, I didn't understand and couldn't pay it! After that I told her, she said oh. She was sorry and she misunderstood and gave an wrong information. That's so rude, I already told her so many time, during 10mins , why I would pay extra for removing gel even I got nail from her store. MJ nails has officially become my nail care home. I have never really cared about keeping up with my nails until I happened to try it out last year and found my gel manicure lasting for 4+ weeks! $40 for gel manicures and so worth it with how long they last and how pretty and clean your nails stay. They are super clean and don't over do it with the cuticles. They are also the nicest people ever! Super pleasant, professional and actually gives you suggestions like you've been friends for a long time.
