Pork chow mein with veggies. Perfect.
Jeremy W.

Great food. You know how sometimes you eat Chinese and feel tired or dehydrated or just out of sorts afterwards? This did not happen here. I got the pork chow mein and it was delish. Ate lunch twice on one order! Added hot chili oil of course. Everything is fresh, veggies were not too many and were very interesting, crunchy. Price was good for this area. Thank you Pings, I'll be coming back! Rock hard and party harder my fellow Yelpians. Leave a fat tip. Peace love and communism for all

Napa Cabbage, Tofu, And Black Mushroom Dumplings

Got some pretty good dumplings from this place in the International District. It sure has a lot of places to get this delicacy around here. Ping's Dumpling House is one of the most authentic of all these. Order at the counter and get a few that are freshly made. The prices are pretty good for portions. Check out all the dumplings they have. It's certainly got a lot. There's many for meat eaters and vegetarians. Before going know they make these fresh. That means they're pretty much made to order, so it can be a little of a wait. It's about $14 to get an order. There's about a dozen or so dumplings in these. Enough for a couple people to share a steam box. We got the Napa Cabbage, Tofu, And Black Mushroom Dumplings, which were plump and steaming. Good flavor even before using the oils. The dumplings were pretty tender. Has the best dumplings in the area. It's located on King Street close to the International District rail station. There's a few of these for vegans and vegetarians.

Looking for something warm and comfortable food, this place wasn't that busy for a Thursday night but all the food was really yummy. I wasn't a fan on the beef noodle soup, it was packed with lots of noodles and beef was a little salty. The dumplings were good. The pan fried bok choy was delicious! Good for comfort food! The restaurant is in need of an uplift to bring more customers and bathrooms definitely need an upgrade. Overall experience is good. The owner Ping is super friendly and very professional.

XLB soup dumplings, Mapo Tofu, Potstickers, Black Bean Noodle

If you're looking for a family owned mom and pop dumpling restaurant, come here! I'll admit I'm usually the one to hit up Dough Zone, but I was very happy with our meal here. It's in a convenient spot within international district and much cleaner/modern than most other Chinese restaurants lol. We ordered pretty much every staple dish and shared family style! The soup dumplings and potstickers definitely stood out. We were served by the friendly woman seen in other review photos. She was more than accommodating and friendly.

Lamb xiaolongbao (soup dumplings), lu bao, pork and cabbage bun. The latter were luxuriously gigantic with a lovely yeasty flavour.

Generous portions for cozy, home-style dumplings. If you don't want to wait in line forever at Dough Zone or pay exorbitant Dough Zone prices, head here! Also a great option if seafood isn't your favourite. There are super delicious lamb dumplings, which is a rare treat when so many restaurants skew to Southern Chinese cuisines. Pretty slow at lunch on a weekday, so food came very quickly and the atmosphere was nice.

Raw dumplings

Came in before a game at Lumen, was expecting great dumplings. Over $50 for 2 orders of overcooked dumplings, and chicken chow mein. Bottoms were falling off and the meat looked undercooked. Only one lady working, and we were the only two people in the restaurant. Disappointed is such an understatement. Go anywhere else.

Dumplings were great! Ambience was very nice and bathrooms are surprisingly clean! We ordered the shrimp noodle, green onion pancake, and the chicken dumplings! Compliments to the owner and chef!

This is the old and salty tasting shrimp and pork XBL. I had eaten 2 and had to give up. $14.99 down the drain.
Sharlene W.

I gave this place multiple triesnto redeem itself but to no avail. $14.99 for the soup dumplings is a food crime. I had the shrimp and pork XLB's and the top part was hard, while the bottom part of the dumplings fell apart. The Green Onion Pancakes $4.99 were fried in dirty oil as there were black specks on the pancake when I bit into it. The service was decent but, both items came out luke warm. How does an order of streamed dumplings not come out hot? If you are named Ping's Dumplings, why would you even serve this to your customers? I should have taken the hint as I was the only person in the restaurant as an Indication that the food was not good. After I took the pictures, i left my barely eaten food on the table. Just go to Dough Zone where the XLB's are constantly hot and the food is not cooked in dirty oil.

Metal found in the chow mein
Shawn K.

Ordered soup dumplings, steamed dumplings, shrimp chow mein and mapo tofu. Food did not taste good. The chow mein was alright until I found a piece of metal in my mouth. One of the dumplings had a really strong horse radish flavor, not really sure what that's about. The soup dumplings were probably the most decent thing we had there and even that wasn't very inviting. We ordered 3 bowls of rice and then were told after the fact they were out of rice. They replaced it with the chive pancake which was dry and unappetizing. The price of the pancake was less than the 3 bowls of rice but we were charged the rice anyways. Not a huge difference in price but when the meal is that bad it stands out. Overall I will never be coming back. Maybe it was an off day, but not worth me spending $20 to find out.

Entrance (5/31/21)

Popular spots in the International District often have lines which has me or The Homie a wandering to nearby spots to kill time and explore. Ping's Dumpling House was one of those spots. What was learned based on a takeout order back on 5/31/21 was that they do tasty "meat on a stick" and a pretty decent milk tea. I was able to snag a few bites from The Homie's order. Meat was flavorful, tender, and pretty generous on all the skewers ordered. Milk tea was refreshing, I just prefer other ID locations a bit more. I do have a note to self to return and explore the menu further.

Thanks Strictly Dumpling/Mikey Chen for recommending this place on YouTube! Came in around 7pm and we were quickly seated, offered tea and utensils - yay Beef XLB - very fresh (owner recommended these cause they said they were just made and they were right!) and flavorful, wasn't too much soup but no biggie Pork and Chive Lu Baos - good filling and also flavorful Would recommend checking out if you're wanting dumplings-- be sure to be patient cause there were only 2 staff members working including the owner

The owner wasn't friendly. The chili oil container was 1/3 full and went back in and asked for another one. She wasn't happy and told me that the sauce was "a very cheap chili". Which I took as, go buy some. I was visiting Seattle and If I had an option, I'd dine in, but COVID-19. Dumplings didn't really hold up in the to-go container, especially the Xi along Bao (soup dumplings). It was busy, I understand, would try it again to support local.

I been to this place 2x now and Im sticking with my original thought. The first time, my husband picked up the food so I can't say what he experience, but both times ,it took a while for the food to be ready m it looks like there's only 2 ladies there working. One does the cleaning and one does the rest. Food is made as order. I can see this being ideal for smaller places but they have a restaurant, I'm not sure how long you would be waiting if they have 3-4 customers at the same time. For me though, when I came in here, the lady was cleaning the floor and it was soo strong of bleach that it definitely put a bad taste in my mouth. The ladies was very nice though, even though their English was not that great. Food wise, I got a pork soup dumpling, a pork a chive steam dumplings and a pork pot stickers. They were all standard to me. Nothing really stood out. I think the favorite thing here was the sauce. My husband love the sauce. Overall, it's an ok place, but with so many places nearby that has dumplings and shorter wait time, it's definitely not my go to, but definitely check them out!!!

There is an online waitlist through the Toast app, which is a great way to save yourself some time. https://tables.toasttab.com/dough-zone-pine-street/joinWaitlist?deeplink=true Dough Zone has a new QR code order system, which is very convenient and works for everything except alcoholic beverages. You can open a tab and then order more items whenever you feel like it. That's great, since it can take a little while to get the attention of the waitstaff. Dough Zone -- Strong Food Undermined by Poor Hospitality…read more Rating: (3/5) Dough Zone continues to attract crowds for its affordable dumplings and dependable comfort food, and to be fair, the kitchen still delivers solid flavors. Unfortunately, this visit was overshadowed by a frustrating service experience that took away from what could have been an enjoyable meal. Ambiance - 4/5 The restaurant maintains its familiar modern-casual atmosphere: lively, efficient, and designed for quick turnover. Despite the busy environment, the space remains relatively comfortable and clean, making it an easy spot for casual group dining. Authenticity - 4/5 The menu reflects classic Northern Chinese comfort dishes and Taiwanese-inspired small plates fairly well. The xiao long bao and noodles still capture the approachable flavors that made Dough Zone popular in the first place. Flavor - 4/5 The food itself was enjoyable. The xiao long bao were flavorful with properly developed broth inside, and overall execution from the kitchen remained consistent. No complaints regarding the dishes themselves. However, what became frustrating was a conversation regarding the Dan Dan noodles. I asked whether the dish contained pork -- a perfectly reasonable question, especially considering authentic Sichuan-style Dan Dan noodles traditionally do contain minced pork. Instead of answering professionally, the waitress responded dismissively: "Since when does Dan Dan noodles have pork?" That response was both inaccurate and unnecessarily condescending, particularly toward a guest who clearly understands the cuisine. Service - 2/5 This is where the experience declined significantly. The waitress came across as rude, dismissive, and surprisingly uninformed about a very standard Chinese dish. Hospitality aside, basic menu knowledge should be expected. To their credit, the service lead attempted to recover the situation by comping one order of xiao long bao, which I appreciated as a gesture of accountability. Without that effort, this review would likely have been lower. Cost - 4/5 Dough Zone continues to offer good value for the quantity and quality of food. Pricing remains one of its strongest advantages, especially for group dining. Final Thoughts Dough Zone succeeds where many casual dumpling chains do: affordable, tasty food served quickly. But strong kitchens can only carry a restaurant so far when front-of-house hospitality breaks down. The food earned the 3 stars. The service nearly brought it down to 2.

Not only that, but it's also the most affordable with a price-per-piece around $1.35 for most items. The Siu Mai, BBQ Pork Bun, Custard Bun, and Shrimp Cheung Fun are personal standouts. With that said, this is not your typical dim sum restaurant. You'll find no leisurely rotating tables or endless pots of tea. Instead it operates more like a bakery, optimized for takeout. This seems to be a point of disconnect among other reviews here. Service is focused on efficiency, but you can take as long as you need to decide what you want by using the paper ordering sheet and referencing pictures on the wall. Like the Food Walk itself, this place gets very crowded during peak lunch hours when they're open; every seat was taken and everyone else - myself included - got our goodies for takeout. You pay depending on how much you get; for example, one piece of siu mai is $1.30 each as of this writing. All other food items follow in a similar suit. We got the following: - Egg tart: my favorites though they have cookie crusts. I do prefer flaky crusts but the egg yolk has the right amount of sweet to balance the crust. - Siu mai: fresh and piping hot. Meat was also fresh and didn't have a weird aftertaste. - Green onion bun: each one is pretty big, and there's just enough green onions on them to distinguish between similar buns like the baked BBQ pork bun. - Sponge cake: didn't eat this myself but parents thought this was all right though a little too set. - Baked BBQ pork bun: my dad's favorite. BBQ pork is sweet and complements the bun itself. - Meat bun turnover (Shanghai pan-fried buns): I always like getting these in places like Din Tai Fung and Dough Zone. The ones here are even better, with a ton of filling in each bun and a nice crisp from the pan fry. A classic staple of Chinatown that serves awesome dim sum that edges out the competition pretty well considering dining in has gotten a lot more expensive lately! I see myself coming back a lot more, beyond the number of times I've gone here since high school, of course.

I liked how everything moved at a quick pace here and yet the staff were still friendly. The best part was that no one stopped by to ask how the food was while your mouth was full, because they already knew the food was good. The beef chow fun was just as good as the ones back home. It was savory and full of wok hei (iykyk). The bean sprouts were added at just the right time, so they were still a slightly crunchy. The sliced beef was tender too. If you like adding extra spice, be sure to try the crunchy chili sauce on the table. It was awesome, fragrant, spicy, and full of flavor. Just be careful not to choke on it, I did, and it wasn't fun.
