Been seriously impressed with these guys! I have been going to one of their competitors for a while and while everyone there was super nice, I just felt like I was getting screwed on service. So much so that a bicycle manufacturer knows about it. I broke my chain whip on a Monday evening and decided to try and new shop on a whim and ran over to pull a cassette off a wheel. These guys took care of it instantly. Three days later, I was having some bake issues and within an hour of drop off, one of their lead techs was already on the phone with Sram having a replacement overnighted. Took my bike here a few months back to have it looked over in order to sell it. Got the bike back with everything in supposed good working order. Had someone test ride the bike who knows way more than I do about bikes and said they thought something was wrong with the rear suspension "brain system". Took bike to gear fix to have them sell it on consignment and they wouldn't take it as they said it had a bad brain suspension and they didn't work on those. Finally got hooked up with Risse in Redmond who fixed the brain system and said whoever worked on it last had messed it up by over tightening some parts. I've used this bike so little that it was obvious it was sold to me by Hutch's with a bad brain suspension and it was serviced by Pine who never said anything about it, giving it back to me saying it was "all good". Bummer because I liked this shop, but will be looking elsewhere to have future work done. read more

Thoughtful and honest team. My most recent visit was for a Mountain Bike tune up and I was expecting to need to update a few parts of the bike but instead of trying to upsell me they reviewed the bike and really all I needed was some fresh oil and a good wash. They also gave me a few things to keep an eye on for next season. Super knowledgeable team. My bike got damaged in a move a few years ago and then I essentially hid it in a shed. I decided to try to get it repaired. I called a few places and a friend recommended Pine Mountain. Pine Mountain was awesome. When I dropped it off we went over all the issues with the bike, They finished it before the estimated time and it looks like a brand new bike. I picked it up today and Nate went over everything they did. Cost was more than reasonable. Pine Mountain will be at the top of my list if I decide to upgrade. read more

Went to Pine Mountain Sports to drop off my bike for some brake work. I was there half an hour early. I was ready to sit in my car and wait a bit for them to open. However, one of the employees (Francois, thanks!) saw a car in the lot and came out and asked if there was something I needed. Explained I had hosed the brakes up on my bike (not bought at PMS either). He grabbed a few tools and taught me how to reinstall pads and adjust my brakes. Again, PMS shows great customer service. Overall, I think this is my go to bike shop while living in here in bend temporarily. I'm here for work. Huge bike guy. They have A LOT of inventory for SC and Trek. They were super patient with me when i was considering buying a bike, they put pedals on it and let me ride it in the lot even though I wasn't sure about buying it (demo bike for sale not new). Ended up not buying it but staff was great. The shop itself is well put together and functions in an organized manner- service department, then other for sales. Well staffed. Just a great business that is ran well and you can tell. Going there for all my needs until I'm gone in July. read more

Jason was there to show me some basics of tightening the free hub, a problem I hadn't been able to solve. He was super cool, showing me how to adjust. It made a huge difference. I ordered a high end Santa Cruz mountain bicycle by phone before the company completely sold out of them for the 2024 summer. Dan the owner at Pine Mountain Sports ordered the bicycle knowing he would have to store it in the shop for a month until I arrived in Bend OR. Paco assembled the bike and when I got to Bend, he expertly adjusted the bike for my body, preferences and riding style. This is a great business with helpful employees. I managed to get big nail in my tire while at the nearby grocery store rendering my bike incapacitated. The nice employees here were not able to work on the bike but were nice enough to lend me their pump and allow me to work on it with some loaner tools they keep outside. Room for improvement Service is ok, just not very detail oriented. Just got a shock serviced. I asked for the travel o ring to be replaced. Got the shock back, old cracked o ring still on there. I asked about it and got an oops sorry. Had a fork serviced and they blocked an air return so it got sucked down in its travel. Bought a new bike and had the rear suspension come completely apart during first ride. Reserved a demo, showed up to get it, they gave it to someone else. Nice folks just not detailed. read more

Great Customer Service! This shop and all the employees were on the ball with everything. They were friendly over the phone, they were ready when we arrived and set up all our riders in our group with a bike that fit them well and were ready to accommodate on the spot when the assumed/predicted size, height, & weight wasn't working for one of the riders in our group. After the ride they were genuinely interested as to whether or not everyone enjoyed both the equipment and the ride as well. An added perk is that the Cascade Highline trail starts just minutes away from the shop (at Overturf Park) so you can easily ride straight from the shop directly to Phil's trailhead. The high level of customer service I received is pretty hard to beat. I will definitely go out of my way to support Pine Mountain Sports when I am in Bend. They stand by their work. I had some issues with a bike I had inspected at Pine Mountain Sports. I spoke to a manager and Ed said no problem please bring in the bike and we will correct anything we should have caught. Since I was out of town he even said he would hook me up with a demo for the day so we still ride around Bend while they sorted out the bike. Ed's communication was polite, helpful, prompt and it felt he was going out of his way to give me the best customer service. When I arrived all the paperwork was in place and all I had to do was drop off the bike and pick up my demo. Pine Mountain ended up fixing everything and apologizing for the inconvenience. Everyone treated me with such kindness and made sure that everything was ready as prompt as possible with excellent communication. It made me feel really amazing about the stressful experience of having to head back to Bend to get my bike worked on, and didn't seem inconvient at all. I came to try out the Juliana Roubion on a Monday, so granted a slower day, but the welcoming and very knowledgable staff generously took a lot of time in helping me evaluate bikes including letting me ride a couple bikes on a small section of track just down the road & then letting me demo two sizes of the same bike the same day for no extra charge. Great rental experience. Bri is really nice and did a great job setting up the bike and running through the gearing, dropper post, etc. I did a quick sightseeing ride on the Deschutes River Trail. Beautiful scenery. She also gave me a run down on the different trail options and other attractions (breweries, food). Pine Mtn is my go to shop in Bend because they were so welcoming and supportive from the day I decided to get back on a bike after a bad crash 4 years ago. It was refreshing because bin shops can occasionally be very intimidating when you first riding or getting back into the sport. Pine Mtn has made an effort to being supportive of the community as a whole offering incredible opportunities to learn, like partnering with the Dirt Divas all summer and providing FREE (seriously) demo bikes for the ride. You do have to get here early to get on one of the demo bikes but it's an incredible way to get your riding feet under you with guide rides from never ever riders to advance technical. I ended up buying a bike from pine mtn last summer and the experience as as good as I had had all summer riding their demo bikes. I love supporting local and I especially love supporting local shops that support us back! read more

Such a great bike shop! I always rent mountain bikes here when I come to Bend. They always carry the newest models of Santa Cruz Bikes and the fact that the shuttle company Cog Wild is right upstairs and shares the same parking lot is too good to be true. 8:35am on a saturday I'm riding up to the start of singlespeed world championship race my chainring bolt sheared. Darnedest thing since it'd been on there for more than a year. I ride back to my airbnb and realize I brought no small parts, realize I needed a bike shop! Bike onto truck and I drove to Pine Mountain Sports which was supposed to open at 9am (the race start meeting time.) I got there at 8:45am and they were fully open. Mechanic got my bike on stand and debugged the situation, yes the bolt head had sheared but also my chainring threading was sheared, I needed a new chainring. They had a direct mount 34t chainring with correct chainline that was a drop in replacement. Thank you so much for being open and having the part I needed in stock. read more

Braeden really listened to what I wanted in a cross country mtn bike, so we played around with a few models, finally finding the right one. I'm smack dab in between a small and medium-sized frame, and I had very specific needs for the fork travel and lightness of the bike in prep for a bikepacking trip in BC. I really appreciated his expertise, as well as the time he spent fitting each model just right so I could test them out. To my surprise, this shop offers a 1.5 hour bike pickup appointment with each bike purchase. Paco spent nearly 2 hours with me getting the right tools and fit, all with a charismatic attitude and tons of patience for my questions. I had brought some of my own tools so I could get more practice making saddle and suspension adjustments; he was happy to help me learn, and I truly can't imagine a better bike purchasing experience. I cannot begin to express how much I love the staff at Pine Mountain; they are friendly and extremely knowledgeable. I decided to join the MTB community this year and my boyfriend recommended Pine Mountain to me as his go-to bike shop. I purchased a bike from them in February and have since used them a many times to add upgrades to my bike, make various purchases or just ask questions. As a newbie, I have been so grateful to them; they have supported me and given me advice more times than I can count but here are some highlights.... Paco helped fit me to my bike and spent a lot of time with me making sure it all felt great. He told me to come back after a few rides so he could further fit me once I had some time on the bike. During a recent visit, Henry (aka Hendo) without me asking him to do so, checked my brakes and found they were apart of a recall. He immediately got my bike in to be fixed and it was ready in under 2 hours. Every time I come in he is quick to offer help and support. He asks how whatever the last thing he did is working out and if I need any help or advice. My boyfriend decided to buy a new bike last month so of course, we went to Pine Mountain. Dave was very helpful in answering questions and letting him try different bikes - we never felt rushed. Mark helped him place the order and went through everything in detail as it was a custom order Santa Cruz Bronson- shockingly it arrived within a week. When we came back to pick it up, Dave remembered us by name when we walked in and immediately went and got the bike for us. Paco remembered me and asked how things were going with my bike. After he finished fitting my boyfriend to his new bike he had me do a few circles so he could make any adjustments. Each time we go in the staff is friendly and helpful. They all seem to remember me, I have never felt rushed, stupid, or like they were trying to up-sell me - in fact exactly the opposite.... I have been listened to and advised to buy products that fit my needs which usually are the less expensive things. I don't know if it was just a bad day but the staff was super rude to my daughter and I. They rope off the entrance, which is fine, but the staff literally left us standing outside. No greeter. No explanation. Two employees standing 20 feet inside just chatting. It wasn't until we walked away that they asked if we wanted to enter. Although we didn't buy or rent anything I found the employees to be kind and accommodating. Had a combination of a flatted tubeless rear tire and rear axle/skewer broken and stuck inside the hub of an SC Blur. Upon arriving a manager named 'Cal' put the bike on the stand and did an intake eval. He said it would be the next day and I received a notification that was ready for morning pickup. They re-stansed the tire, replaced rear pads, straightened rotor, replaced rear derailleur fastener etc. Cal left a detailed rundown on what had to be repaired and why. At pickup I added some supplies and bar grips (which they installed immediately). The rep was a total professional. Cost was reasonable. End to end this was one of the best mountain bike shop experiences I've ever had. read more

Pine Mountain Sports is an excellent shop. Two separate great experiences there. First experience I had was that I got a flat tire on my ride at Phils and had to walk 3 miles out to my car. I drove straight to another bike shop, only to be told that my bike was too filthy to be looked at, they wanted to charge $20 to "clean my bike", and that they didn't have time to even look until a few days later. Contrast that with Pine Mountain Sports. A mechanic literally looked at my bike on the spot, diagnosed it, fixed it, did a tubeless tire install, and charged me $10. They even offered sympathy for me having to walk out from the trails, and told me "we'll get you back out riding in no time". It was truly an awesome experience, especially contrasting with the other bike shop. Second experience, I came to Pine Mountain after another ride where my chain had been falling off. I wanted to buy a new chain, but a mechanic looked at the bike and discovered that the "clutch" had been off (I didn't even know bike drivetrains had a clutch). He told me that even though my drivetrain was a bit worn, it was likely falling off because of the clutch, and recommended I don't need a new drivetrain quite yet. And when I do get one, to get a new cassette with it because the chain would wear out faster if I didn't. It was great advice, and saved me a lot of money. Two great experiences, I will always come back to Pine Mountain Sports whenever I'm in the Bend area. Thanks! read more
