I got my wife a pair of Nike tennis shoes online. When the shoes arrived to our house, they were noticeable "used". You could see dirt on the bottom of soles and there was also a crease across the tops of the shoes where someone had clearly worn them. While this was a bad experience...it gets worse! We returned the shoes to the Dick's store explaining the situation. The worker agreed they were used and was sorry and gladly issued a gift card to order a "NEW" pair. Got home and ordered a new pair...a few days later our new pair was delivered. To my wife's disappointment, it was the same "used' pair that we had returned the week before. Hey Dick's - if you are in the business of selling used shoes, then at least give a substantial discount. But, don't charge $132.00 for a pair of new Nike's and then deliver used ones. Nice store, typical sporting goods layout -- I could have been in a Sports Authority or the like. Generally medium-quality stuff, but usually good enough unless you're an expert at whatever sport you're doing. While I was there, I saw someone Kayak shopping and they were seemingly getting great service. I didn't need much, so I can't speak for myself on that point. Covid-wise, first the place is huge and that's good for ventilation and it wasn't that crowded. Beyond that, they're kind of clueless: while they do seem to check you on the way in, I wandered into a maskless person wandering around so they need to keep an eye on folks once they're in the store, and more importantly, a guy who appeared to the manager was walking around, speaking loud, with a mask around his neck, and went behind the registers which were nicely setup, with plexiglass and such; so he completely defeated the point. read more

I found a couple of sweatpants I wanted to try on. Asked a sales associate to let me into the fitting room. tried them on. didn't like them. I hung them back up myself since the racks were close by. Saw a different pair of sweats in a totally different area, saw the fitting room was still open, so I went in to try on this other pair. they fit great. while I'm pants down in my underwear, about to put my pants back on...some manager started pounding on the door like it was an FBI raid. Really? I said, "hello!!!!". No answer. As I exited, I saw the manager walking away, back turned...no apology. nothing. I'm a middle-age, fully employed, productive member of society. Trying clothes is a big enough hassle for old guys. Thanks for treating me like a criminal. Never going back. read more

The store in an of itself is wonderful they have a great selection of products and clothing to choose from. The employees on the other hand are rude and make unnecessary comments. I had two different mail workers treat me like I was incompetent. I simply asked if they had a size medium and some thing when he saw I was holding a size medium I let him know that there was a big blemish on the front he started to argue with me and say that he couldn't see anything on it all I'm wondering why he's arguing with me and why he's trying to get me to buy the one that I'm stating has a blemish in it it's not like he's getting some type of commission off of this sale. I stood in the shoe section for at least 10 minutes when a worker came out I looked right at her kind of raised my hand letting her know I needed assistance and she walked by me and ignored me. I decided to get shoes and go check out when I was checking out I went to use a coupon I had of course the coupon didn't work I said OK and proceeded to pay for my transaction the guy was rude and was like well there's nothing I can do about it the comment again was unnecessary throughout this entire experience I was not rude to anybody. I had taken a minute trying to find my card in my purse and I apparently wasn't going fast enough for him because he made the comment to the other checker I guess we're gonna need to get some more back up up here because this isn't going very fast. so if you're looking to find some cool things it's the great place to go but don't expect to be treated very well. read more

In the category of large, general sporting goods stores in Bend, Dick's beats out Big 5 by a good bit. I'd rate REI a bit higher but I think of them as more an outdoor specialty store, as is Sportsman's Warehouse. I like Dick's - even prior to moving here, it was my go-to sports store where I looked for camping equipment, athletic shoes, golf equipment (particularly here in Bend which lacks a large golf equipment outlet), clothes and now, kayaks. One area that's lacking is tennis but Bend surprisingly seems not to have a large tennis scene. We decided to get ourselves into kayaking and Dick's had the best deal on good, low priced kayaks. Sure, there are plenty of stores in Bend that offer better selection of higher end models (including REI) but we wanted to test the waters so to speak before dropping a lot of cash. Dick's filled the bill. The Bend store itself is not the largest Dick's but it's pretty big, so you'll find a lot of stuff to browse through. Employees have been universally friendly and helpful, particularly with our kayak purchases. Conveniently located in Cascade Village Shopping Center. Parking is not an issue. read more

I would like to leave NO stars but in order to leave a review, I had to leave at least 1. This is a ZERO star review. I will never shop at this store again. I went to buy Christmas presents and had received a text offering a $20 off $100 or more purchase. I went to the store and downloaded the app and created the account just as the store employee had told me to do. He scanned the barcode. The computer said that the coupon was approved but the discount did not reflect the reduction on the transaction. Next the employee decided to scan it again and at that point it denied saying that the coupon was already used. THe employee called the manager up to the counter. The employee explained about half of the story in which I filled in the gaps. I shared that I had not used the coupon and how I had just downloaded the app for the barcode that I was told that was needed. The manager said that I had to call customer service. I shared that it was pretty simple what had happened. He was so rude and called me a liar. It was not about the money. Had I been treated with respect I probably would have just bought the merchandise but this individual was so rude and condesending. I will never spend another dime at this store. read more

Excellent customer service. Store has everything you need and if they do not have in stock you can get online. Managers are top notch and corporate compliance is the impeccable. You can shop online, but this is a great place to actually interact with the tangibles and ensure your items are 100% legitimate. Considered buying a new set of golf irons. Guy in that department is sitting down and asks, "what do need, Bud". I'll just look. 2 mins later I ha e a question; he's gone. I decide to leave but grab a couple dz of balls. Waiting at checkout the customer service guy pulls me out of line (I was next) but takes a phone call as I get there, and walks off. The 3 people in line get checked out while I wait. Back in line, he's off the phone and again calls me, no thanks. Finally I tell the regular check our guy what happened and he says, "be nice". I tell him I'm a customer and they should be "nice". I ask what the customer service guy's name is; he won't tell me. I guarantee, this is the last time I will go to any Dicks. read more

Went here to buy a item that was advertised on their website for $79.99 and when I drove all the way over to the store they had it listed for $199.99 ! same item ! They told me they have no obligation to match the prices on their own website. Though the prices for every other item in the category matched , just not the one I drove across town to get. I can understand a few dollars difference but that is more than twice as much . Online price shoppers beware ! call the store to make sure the price is the same. read more

I went here today to use up a gift card, and I hope I never need to go back. The store is fine and on par with other sporting goods retailers. The cashiers on the other hand, are not really fans of customer service. The few times I've been there, I feel I can describe them just by using the name of the store! The lady who rang me up today did not greet me or tell me she'd be right with me, but instead had a conversation with some coworkers that probably could have waited until later. When she started ringing me up she was talking, and saying things that made me think "Is she being a bitch to me?" Then I realized she was having a conversation on her headset with an unseen coworker, which was at times awkward, flirtatious, and/or rude. Whatever positive experiences I have while in the store are washed away by the only point of personal contact during my visit. read more

Not impressed. My sister and I were looking for hiking boots and went directly to the shoe department. No employees in sight. We both tried on several pairs of shoes and still no employees. One young man ran by and when we attempted to ask a question he said he was on the phone and would get back to us. Never saw him again. I found a box marked my size only to find a pair of shoes 2 sizes smaller. As an employee came by (finally!) I got his attention and mentioned the mistake on the box. He said "Thanks", grabbed the box and disappeared. Drat! We never did find shoes or boots we liked and also never saw another employee. We left and I will not be back. Customer service does not exist at Dick's. Holiday season is in full swing and I don't think there were 2 other customers in the store. Just sayin'. read more

Do I dare say the name says it all? Rude employees couldn't get anyone to help me today. Went to look for a wide mouth hydro flask lid with the straws and couldn't find it any where. Online it said it was available in that store location. Wondered around and was going to ask for assistance, but the employees seemed too busy to be bothered. Couldn't flag anyone down. This will be my last visit to dicks every time I go in I am frustrated with the service. I will just order online from Amazon and pay double they have lost a customer for good. read more

We have been here a few times. We've purchased kayaks, a stand up paddle board, a treadmill, among other things. I read some of the comments about the service here and in some ways they're right. They aren't fully staffed, but if you go and find someone they help you right away and know what they're talking about. The only alternatives really are walmart, which is terrible, or REI if you want to pay three times what the products are actually worth. I was kayak shopping for me a couple of weeks back. Did some online research and went in to the local Dicks to see what they had to offer. I ran into Clinton the store manager and he gave me a lot of good advice I didn't find online when researching which one to buy. The best advice he gave me was for me to sit in them before I but one for comfort and for. He pulled down 4 different kayaks for me to try out. Thankfully he took the time to do this and show me how to shop for the perfect kayak. I was interested in a different model based on price and research but the kayak I ended up buying was a better fit and a bit cheaper than the one I thought I wanted. His service was so good my wife bought one too. He helped us pick out paddles and all the gear we needed. His kayak knowledge and knowledge of local water laws was far more than I expected. We were so happy we put them in the water that day. Thank you Clinton for giving us great advice and helping us novice kayakers pick out the perfect kayaks. read more

I ordered a kayak from Dick's, and waited over two weeks to get it. Now I get a phone call that they received the kayak - and sold it to someone else! They offered me a different kayak (um, no thanks), and then "offered" to get me the kayak I ordered - IN TWO MORE WEEKS. Why should I have to wait another two weeks, like I just placed my order today?? This is their solution? A very nice rep from Dick's told me he would pull as many strings as he could to get they kayak sooner (after I suggested that, not so nicely). We'll see if he's successful. If so, I'll report back here. Until then, my recommendation is: STAY AWAY FROM ORDERING ANYTHING FROM DICK'S. They can't handle the complexity. I'll update this review if Dick's redeems themselves in any way. And we'll see if Yelp removes it from the "filtered reviews." read more

Amazing customer service. When my husband and I went into the store looking for a ping pong table we were amazed at how helpful everyone was. They even took us into the back to see the size of the box and give us recommendations on transporting it home. Everyone in the store make you feel comfortable and relaxed. I've been in and out of this store for the past several years with the same experience. If you don't know exactly what your looking for and where it is, good luck finding one of the "kids" wandering around pretending to tidy up piles of clothes to help you. I could wander around that store for an hour and not have anyone say hello or ask me if I need help finding something. To the manager of this store, here's some advice: gather all your employees together, have an emergency meeting, and teach them what customer service is. That means telling them, (even if they are fixing piles of clothes or in the middle of any other "task") to stop and say hello to customers and ask them "can I help you find something?" which doesn't mean pointing to some other part of the store if it's not in their department. This is where your employee would say "let me walk you over to someone who can help you." If someone treated me this way in this store, I'd be incredibly surprised...shocked actually. You have a 2.5 star rating. I'd say your situation is dire. read more
