Great selection of used outdoor gear, from shoes/boots to parkas and shells to climbing gear and sleeping bags. The stuff is definitely pricier than you'd find in a thrift store but usually much better quality from upper-end brands. There's a full service ski and bike repair shop area in back too, and lots of good advice is dispensed here on the regular. Counter folks are always upbeat and helpful too. Laid back but pro vibes. I have an inflatable backpacking mattress (Nemo Quasar wide ultra lite) that got a big tear in it when I closed it in the hatch of my car on a camping trip -- ouch! I then tried to patch it myself but it deflated over the course of two hours. So I took it in to these wonderful folks, and while they told me they don't repair inflatables, they did give me some very good repair advice and a few pieces of matching scrap fabric for my next attempt -- for free! I love this shop, it's served me so well both living in Bend and back when i was just a visitor. Kind, helpful staff, bitching selection of clothes for all activities, gear for many, and a bike shop that's got all you need, it's an amazing spot. Bought gear for many expeditions here, as well as my bike which is my daily commuter. I have found some things to be a little pricey, but as an exclusively thrift store/second hand shopper, that may be biased. I'll say for certain that you get your moneys worth. read more

Absolutely fantastic. I packed for my kiddos and my most recent trip to C. Oregon in a bit of a frenzy. It always starts with best intention for organized simplicity, but after packing myself, all the food, meds, sunscreens of every kind, kid stuff etc. I find myself just trying to get it over with, and by the 3rd or 4th time searching for a missing item my kids haphazardly discard somewhere, this time a hiking / water sandal, I throw up my hands and think we'll make it work with whatever we have. Well, I ended up signing up my kids for an adventure excursion trip, where they had to have real gear, including hiking / water sandals. As well as planning a trip for the 3 of us to do some hiking water activities myself. After thinking it over, I decided not to make my 8-year-old wear his old tennies. I didn't want to splurge on another pair of new shoes, so we checked out Gear Fix. In addition to getting my son the foot gear needed, we ended up leaving with an awesome used gear pack, and another pair of hiking sandals for my daughter. The pair I purchased for her were too good to pass up, even though she already owns a pair. The staff was friendly, attentive, knowledgeable and incredibly helpful. While we may not have found just exactly what we were looking for all across the board, we did find what we needed and plus some. Thankyou, thankyou - Gearfix. A week ago, Sunday afternoon, during that massive snow dump, the bindings on one of my cross country skis snapped at the end of brief ski at the Nordic Centre at Mount Bachelor. It was the first day of week long visit from Vancouver Island. Monday morning we visited Gear Fix and purchased a pair of cross country skis on consignment. They looked lightly used and ready to go. We had a great intro ski at Virginia Meissner SnoPark - the skis performed well. The next day with the promise of a long sunny day, we found ourselves at the top of a long climb on the Tangent Trail, I felt something weird going on and looked down at my left ski. Lo and behold, the entire binding was lifting off the ski. I managed to ski back to the parking lot keeping that ski pointing straight ahead and attempting no spectacular turns. We drove back into town and I took the ski and binding to the back of the store. The guys there took one look at it and without question or hesitancy said that what they could do was replace the old bindings with new ones and I could pick up the repaired skis the next day. I was happy but my wife made the pained sounds of someone about to miss out on a day's skiing in a world class setting. Stepping up beyond the call of duty, the tech said he could probably have the skis ready in 3 or 4 hours that same day. And that is what happened. We didn't miss a day's ski, bought some used outdoor clothing at great prices from their clothing racks, and are reccomending Bend, Virginia Meissner and Gearfix to all our friends here in the Comox Valley, Vancouver Island. Consignment store for skiing and cycling goods. Wanting to avoid Craig's List to sell his mountain bike and related "stuff", my hubby took in bike and gear to Repeat Performance. He had a top notch experience with the freindly staff and they sold everything in two weeks flat. My husband was happy with the prices assigned for his goods and buyers must have been too since they sold so quickly. Apparently Repeat uses as base what the market price would be for the item if new, divides by half and then adds or subtracts from that price based on condition of the item. Since my husband's bike and related gear was in top shape, that worked to his benefit for the pricing. Also, it seems, to the benefit of the buyers too for a great condition bike and other cycling items for a lot less than they'd pay if new. If you have things to consign, their consignment fees seem fair and interesting for how they are determined. In a nutshell, anything wold for $300 and up has a 20% commission. Anything below that is on a sliding scale from 50% for items under $100, 40% for over $100 to $200, 30% for items between $200 and $300. They also carry helmets and bike racks, or at least they took and sold my husband's. And If you're in the market for clothing and shoes for biking, looks like they have them too. Seems like a benefit for everyone, seller avoids the hassles of advertising and needing to be home for possible buyers to come by and buyers can see several options all in one place with used discounts helping lighten the cost. Love the concept. Dislike the dogs roaming around and lily white workers playing gangster rap (it's just wrong, IMO). Not a fan of how disgustingly dirty some of the gear is. I was looking at a pair of boots and wanted to buy them but didn't after noticing there was A LOT of hair and even and pubes inside the shoe. Thanks for dirtying my socks... Almost tried another pair on and it had dog poo stuck all over the bottom. Come on Gear Fix... Don't be dirtier than a crusty thrift store. I would've spent that $200 if that gear was even remotely clean (read: sanitary). I do go there now and then and occasionally find a gem. I smell check and visually inspect things now, and definitely wash my hands once done shopping. Lots of things are overpriced. Racks are crammed so full it's hard to look at things. Aisles aren't large enough for 2 thin people to pass each other by... With a few changes I'd love this place but the issues listed here ultimately help REI get most of my business. read more

Definitely one of the best outdoors shops I've been in selection wise with plenty of unique, old and new gear. However, the prices are insane. No wiggle room either and items are priced at or above eBay listings, not even sold one's mind you! Most clothes are priced like an outlet. Actually I'd recommend going to the north face outlet and buying a new pair of shorts for possibly cheaper! Good for random gear and browsing, occasional deals to be found. read more

Joe was very nice and accommodating. He was knowledgeable about all the bikes they had available. He helped me choose two bikes for my twin boys that are in excellent shape and offered at a fair price. One bike was marked down a little less because the chain was rusted and Joe offered to switch it out right then without changing the price of the bike. As I was leaving the store I stopped to just check out the adult bikes but ended up buying one for myself with Justin's help. The young women at the front were not able to answer any of my questions when I first arrived and really weren't helpful at all, but luckily Justin and Joe were around or I would have left. There are lots of other things for sale in this store like gently used sports equipment and shoes. It's a great place to check before paying full retail for something. I'll definitely stop in here next time I'm visiting Bend! read more

They seemed to be patient and kind when helping customers with their pick up orders. At this time they do not have in store experience which is what I was hoping but I understand why they do not. Really wanted to like this place. Been here a few times but never purchased anything due to the prices. Used clothes are about twice what they should be. Used gear is a huge mixed bag, some prices were decent while another (old used skis and boots) were way overpriced. They do carry a few new items up front for repairs. I inquired about a water bottle bladder for a backpack and the girl was unable to give me any information about them. Will probably still stick my head in now and again if I am at the brew pubs next door. Hope you have better luck than I did. read more

I had Gear Fix resole my climbing shoes. They quoted me 8 weeks turnaround. Instead, it actually took them 4 months! I had to constantly email and kept getting misleading information as to why it is taking so long. When I finally got my shoes back the repair looked good. However, the seam on one of the half sole repairs is already coming apart after one climbing session. Horrible service and bad product! read more

Solid choice for those of us who do our own work or can't afford a new bike. Selection varies throughout the year, but usually they've got a pretty selection of used items. I have bought brake pads, rotors and mounts as well as a whole bike from them. If you're looking for the most knowledgeable staff, it seems to be a hit or miss, but i have a good understanding of what i'm looking for when i go in, they are helpful though. Dear Gear Fix, I really want to love you. :( Lead time to get stuff repaired can be over a month, and I think I discovered why. Earlier this week I called to ask if they could replace a zipper for me. They said if it was just the slider, they could do it while I waited. So I brought my jacket, only to find out that the sewing guy had only come in for a couple hours in the morning. The staff told me to come back the next day anytime between 10am-6pm. So I came back the next day a little before 4pm -- more than two hours before close, and the sewing repair person had left for the day again. Told me to come back the next day, and they were SURE he was going to be around. Yeah, right. it's hard to get anything done when the staff only clock in for a few hours... no wonder you can drop your stuff off and find out that they haven't even started working on the repairs for weeks and weeks. read more

This place is great. I was looking for parts for my Thule car box and Emma was super helpful. She went out of her way to look items up for me online and spent time helping me see if they had what I needed. They had a nice selection of used items at very fair prices. My only wish was that Emma could have been able to call up for some extra help so someone could run the register while she was trying to help me out. But I wasn't in a hurry so it was fine. Also when one of the parts I bought needed a replacement part on it another colleague suggested Cascade Rack across the street. It was a perfect suggestion and I got what I needed. Job done. Rad place with great deals. Stopped by after a lovely lunch next door and was surprised by how much great quality used items they had. They carry everything you can think of that you'd need for your outdoors adventures. Ended up not needing any gear but left with a couple of backpackers foods, was surprised and happy to see so many vegan options. Not impressed. We took several bikes in, and few of them would have cost more to fix than what we'd gotten from them if we sold them (didn't need them). So the nice mechanic said he'd donate them to the local non-profit that fixes bikes and gives them to needy people. I even followed up by phone and was told they'd make sure the bikes get donated. Only we by chance were at the landfill dropping of yard debris the same day Gearfix moved and saw one of their guys dumping our bikes at the dumpster. Did not even bother to call and ask if we'd rather have them back. One bike (newer) stayed at the shop and got a new crank to replace one that had fallen off. The mechanic recommended a full tune-up. The first time I tried that bike after service, the gears were really messed up and worse than before the tune-up. I took it back, and the mechanic fiddled with the gears and then called it good. I took it for a test ride outside and the gears were still not shifting right. I told the mechanic and he came outside and pretended like they were fine. I had to ask him to get on the bike and try it, and then pointed out the bad shifting before he was convinced the shifting wasn't right. Few months later, the new crank they'd installed fell off. This could have been really dangerous, as you can imagine riding at a high speed in traffic and losing a crank and the balance with it. I took the bike back (again), and was informed that these cranks were notorious for this kind of problem and were recalled "years and years ago." But somehow, Gearfix mechanic deemed it good enough to be installed on our bike, without even warning that it might fall off again, like the original did. Ugh! I asked why they'd put a recalled crank on a bike and got some mumbling back about wanting to match the original crank maybe (how would recalled cranks even be available for sale legally?). I asked to return the crank plus labor, and will most definitely go somewhere else for any bike-related service. I would not trust Gearfix with a tricycle. read more

Very cool place. Used but good condition gear for many many sports. We were there in winter, so the place was mostly full of winter gear. They still had camping gear, climbing gear, and wetsuits in February though. For me the value here was apparent. These aren't Goodwill prices, but finding Patagonia and Outdoor Research clothes in good condition at Goodwill prices is a ridiculous hope anyway. Came in and got what we needed for a reasonable price. Will definitely return. read more

Stumbled in this place looking for ski equipment for my boyfriend. Great deals here. It happened to be 50% off weekend in May. We got sick skis, bindings, boots & a helmet for $200.
