My BF bought a brand new bike from them and from day one had shifting issues. He kept taking it back and they "adjusted" it for him, only to have the problem continue. Multiple times back, never fixed the problem. The last time they tried to upsell him a whole new drivetrain for $1500. Took it to another shop in town, and they said derailleur was grossly out of alignment and wore out his chain and cassette. So basically PB was gaslighting BF for 2 years saying nothing was wrong when the bike was set up like trash from day one. Obviously they are not competent mechanics or they would have fixed this immediately. Instead they just wanted more parts business by letting him destroy his bike. read more

Bend is a beautiful city. If you're visiting, renting a bike to get in more travel and a different kind of activity is such a fun idea! My boyfriend and I loved doing this on our trip and loved that it was a local business. It was easy to rent, ride, and return the bikes. It was well worth the price, and in a convenient and cool area of the town. Their customer service was great. I was in the market for a gravel bike and stopped in for a look at their options. A very pleasant experience, good selection of merchandise, knowledgeable staff, good rental fleet. I rented a bike for my a test ride. The bike was not a perfect fit. I informed the sales rep, Casey and departed. Casey later called me with additional options and sizing for my needs. This was excellent service. She did an outstanding job but the bike was not a good fit for me. I recommend their store and ask for Casey! read more

This has been a bang up LBS! Each time I have visited, they have made me feel welcome, been there for questions, and seem to really want to help me out. We had a bike failure, so we rented a bike from Project Bike. They set it up well, it was in great shape, and when we broke a brake hanger (you know, it happens sometimes), they were super cool and just charges us the price of the replacement. They have nice rolling stock to purchase, their show room is spacious, has great product, (25¢ beer) and a great lounge area. I just purchased some parts, Cary was super helpful and went above and beyond just helping me out. He packed it up, sanitized the products, dropped it in the mail, and BOM it was at my door. I highly recommend Project Bike. I went in looking for a new bike, but the last time I bought a bike was in 2016. The landscape has changed quite a bit since then. Alex helped me out and took time to explain what was more important and less important - and he early on recommended the Specialized Epic based on what I described as my riding preference. I decided to try a different model, which I didn't love. Alex had me try the Epic and once I was on it I knew that was the bike - and he helped me figure out the level of components that I'd need to have fun and ensure the best mix of parts/value. Most importantly, Alex didn't even think of saying he told me the Epic straight away, he was just happy to have found a good match for me. A great shop that will not steer you wrong. read more

While enjoying my stay in bend, I knew my trip would not be complete without shredding some of the local trails. We were unable to bring our own, so I set out to find a suitable bike shop. Bend has a healthy amount of them, but I stumbled upon project bike and decided to give them a go. First impressions exceeded my expectations. The shop was clean and organized and the staff were experienced and friendly. The bikes there were top notch. Best of all, I was pleased with the wide variety of rentals (transition spur, specialized stumpjumper evo, Rocky Mountain instinct, and more)! Convinced I had found the right place, I soon went to their website to rent some bikes for my dad and I. The process and format was easy to use, and we got the job done in no time! Bike pickup and drop off was smooth and efficient. I had a brilliant time tearing down tiddlywinks with my sentinel (although it is a little big for those trails, would recommend a shorter travel bike unless you are going to MT. bachelor), and would definitely rent from them again should the chance arise! P.S I know this is a little thing, but I'm a kinda disappointed that they didn't carry any evils (ride one at home), but not many bike shops that I know of carry them anyhow. Project bikes, if your reading this, I would love to see them in your shop sometime soon! read more

My teen and I wanted good-quality but basic (read hardtail) mountain rental bikes to ride Phil's Trails. We popped in a day early so she could throw a leg over a bike to ensure a decent fit and they cheerfully accommodated our request. I loved the rental Chisel 29er bike (nice and light) and my DD liked her 27.5 wheeled Rockhopper - at 5 1" the XS fit her well. Bikes were in excellent mechanical condition, shifting and braking well. They supplied helmets at no extra charge. A fun place to visit, each time a very mellow dog (presumably a shop dog) greeted us. Other shops lacked hardtail MTB's that were more than sufficient for the trails we tackled at Phil's (though we skipped the Black trails.) If we'd both rented dual suspension bikes elsewhere, our rental cost would have doubled. Great weather prompted us to ride 17 miles at a relaxed pace in a few hours. We had a fun, enjoyable workout, would not have been possible without the service and selection of Project Bike! Something to note: we brought our own bike rack, not sure how much they might charge for a rack, or if they even have them. read more

Not impressed at all. Walked in, no greeting or even acknowledgement, walked around for 7-8 minutes looking around, still zero acknowledgement. Ambled over to the front door, but lingered long enough to give them the opportunity to check on me or at least say hi one last time, nothing. Walked out. Considering there is just a smattering of bikes, not a lot of accessories, and absolutely no effort at any kind of customer service, these guys are gonna have to step up their game if they wanna make it. You can buy Intense at Hutch's and get great customer service. Bend cyclery has Norco and Eric is a cool cat. They only appeared to have 3 Rocky mountain's on the floor. I was excited to see a new bike shop. Shame they weren't excited to see me. I only gave them the 2 stars because they're new, and the shop was clean. They only really deserve one. Came into town for the High Cascade 100 thinking my bike was good to go but my gears were all over the place on my pre-ride. I took it in Friday afternoon and they changed my cable and housing and got everything dialed. I really appreciated them taking care of me on short notice.
